Jarvis Varnado is in the Las Vegas summer league with the Lakers.
A previous report from Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders suggested Varnado would be on Detroit's roster. It's highly unlikely the shot-blocking specialist earns an invite to L.A.'s training camp. Mon, Jul 11, 2016 12:03:00 PM

Jarvis Varnado is expected to play for Detroit's summer league team, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

Varnado was last on the NBA radar when the Sixers waived him prior to the 2014-15 season beginning, but he'll try to use summer league as a springboard to generate interest in his game.

Jarvis Varnado is finalizing an agreement to join Dinamo Sassari in Italy.

He was averaging just 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game with the Pelicans during the summer league, so his chances of getting a training camp invite from an NBA team would have been slim. We will let you know if he pops up on the NBA radar again.

76ers waive F Jarvis Varnado.

Varnado hasn't been able to play in training camp due to an Achilles injury, giving the Sixers even more reason to cut him loose. The 6'10" forward averaged 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in just 15 minutes per game with Philly last year, and should fill out some team's frontcourt depth chart once he's healthy.

Jarvis Varnado (Achilles) will not play against the Celtics on Monday.

His injury has been bothering him for a while and it could hurt his chances of making the team. Arnett Moultire and Brandon Davies will get a bigger chance tonight.

Jarvis Varnado (Achilles) did not practice on Friday.

He had soreness in his Achilles on Thursday and it's unclear how much time he'll miss. Varnado will need to get on the court ASAP to make the rotation.

Jarvis Varnado did not finish practice on Thursday due to right Achilles soreness.

His Achilles also bothered him in April and he's not a lock to make the roster, so this injury will hurt his chances. Varnado is an exceptional shot blocker, but he's likely going to be way behind Henry Sims for minutes next to Nerlens Noel. The former Miami Heat player can be ignored in most leagues.

Jarvis Varnado (heel) played 16 minutes against the Celtics on Monday with four points, one board, one assist and two blocks.

He sat out on Saturday due to soreness in his heel and there was no word on his status before the game started. Varnado looked good in the D-League this year for his high block totals and it has translated with 29 blocks in just 22 games with the Sixers. He still has little fantasy value outside of that, though.

Jarvis Varnado will not play at Charlotte on Saturday due to a sore right heel.

This leaves Philly even thinner than usual behind starting center Henry Sims, and Al Jefferson should have a field day in the paint. Varnado should be considered day-to-day in advance of Monday's home game.

Jarvis Varnado blocked six shots vs. the Pistons on Saturday with nine points, three boards and one assist in 21 minutes.

He's basically the best rim protector on the team, which is by far the weakest part of this Sixers team. Obviously, they have a whole laundry list of weaknesses, but Varnado on the court is a nice fit for the second unit. If you need blocks in a deeper league, he's a player to think about with Byron Mullens (ankle) out.

Jarvis Varnado came off the bench for seven points, three rebounds and four blocks in 16 minutes on Wednesday.

It was hit turn for a solid game, while starter Henry Sims hit just 2-of-9 shots for four points, five boards and no blocks. It has to be a pretty deep league if you're looking at owning Varnado, or starting Sims.

The 76ers have signed Jarvis Varnado for the rest of the 2013-14 season.

Varnado's deal also comes with a team option for guaranteed money next season, according to reports. The 26-year-old has averaged 15.5 minutes over his past four games and has posted averages of 3.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks during that span. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy value in standard leagues, but Varnado can provide some value for owners in deeper leagues.

Jarvis Varnado played 15 minutes in the Sixers' loss on Sunday, finishing with two points, three rebounds and three blocks.

Varnado flashed his potential while averaging 4.7 blocks in the D-League this season, and given the state of Philly's frontcourt he's worth keeping a close eye on in deeper formats. Fellow backup big man Byron Mullens chipped in five points and four rebounds in 14 minutes, while starting center Henry Sims scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards in 31 minutes.

76ers sign PF Jarvis Varnado.

Varnado averaged 14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.7 blocks in the D-League, but he played just two minutes during his first NBA stint with the Bulls this season. The Sixers are far more likely to give him playing time, given the state of their frontcourt, but he should be watched from a distance until we've seen him producing.

Bulls sign PF Jarvis Varnado.

Varnado will join the team on a 10-day contract as the Bulls continue to sail just below the luxury-tax threshold. He's been leading the D-League with 4.7 blocks per game, while also averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds, but it's doubtful he'll make any fantasy impact off Chicago's bench.
