Timofey Mozgov finished Wednesday's 120-114 victory with 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in just 22 minutes.
Mozgov scored 12 points early but he faded into the background late, as both teams opted for smaller lineups. His playing time will fluctuate based on matchups, as much as anything, but overall this is a strong start for owners who snagged Mozzy with a flier pick. Oct 27 - 1:45 AM

Timofey Mozgov (tailbone) returned to practice on Saturday.

Mozgov was already declared ready for the season opener, but it's nice to see him back on the practice floor before the year begins.

Timofey Mozgov (tailbone) will be available for the season opener.

The Lakers will hold him out tonight after an injury scare on Wednesday. Mozgov has too many durability concerns to be counted on in fantasy leagues.
Oct 21 - 8:26 PM

Timofey Mozgov (bruised tailbone) did not practice on Thursday and is questionable to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Suns.

Mozgov still has a full six days to recover before the regular season opener, and he was reportedly feeling better on Thursday, so he should be fine for opening night. However, if his absence extends into the regular season, it'll be Ivaca Zubac and Tarik Black picking up most of his minutes.
Oct 20 - 3:49 PM

Timofey Mozgov didn't return to Wednesday's game after leaving with a bruised tailbone.

Mozgov took a nasty fall but he walked off under his own power, albeit with a slight limp, and he'll be reevaluated on Thursday. We're listing him as day-to-day until the Lakers' update his status, but deep-league owners should keep an eye on Ivaca Zubac and Tarik Black in case Mozzy ends up missing significant time.
Oct 20 - 1:12 AM

Timofey Mozgov scored six points on 2-of-4 shooting with nine rebounds, two assists and one turnover in 21 minutes.

It’s the preseason, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Mozgov’s minutes stayed around the lower 20s once the games actually matter. He’s had some trouble staying healthy over the past couple seasons and the Lakers have several players who are capable of playing some five in Yi Jianlian, Tarik Black, Julius Randle and Ivica Zubac. Mozgov is just a low-end big for owners in need of a center late in drafts.
Oct 5 - 12:38 AM

Lakers coach Luke Walton confirmed that Timofey Mozgov will be the starting center this season.

The Lakers invested $65 million in him over the summer, so this was the expectation all along. Mozgov couldn't stay healthy for the Cavs last season and played just 17.4 minutes per game, but he made it clear that he's now 100 percent. "I can do whatever I’ve been doing for six years in the NBA," Mozgov said. "I’ll work in the paint, be big, make contested shots and block shots." We're still not expecting Mozgov to play heavy minutes, so he's only worth drafting in deeper leagues for now.
Oct 3 - 11:16 AM

Timofey Mozgov (groin) went through a full practice with the Russian national team on Wednesday.

He didn't have any pain and has been cleared to play after missing Russia's past two games. Lakers fans already worried about his $65 million contract can breathe a sigh of relief, as he should at least report to training camp in good health.

Timofey Mozgov (groin) will miss Russia's next two games.

He had an MRI on Saturday, but he's expected to be re-evaluated next week. The severity of the injury isn't clear, but the good news is he has plenty of time to rest up before the start of training camp with the Lakers. Despite signing a four-year, $65 million deal, Mozgov isn't going to be a great fantasy option this season.
Aug 14 - 9:15 AM

Timofey Mozgov will have an MRI on Saturday after sustaining a groin injury.

He suffered the injury against Ukraine today. This obviously isn't a great start for arguably the worst offseason move this summer -- it's an easy argument to make. The good news is it's only August, so Mozgov almost certainly should be ready for camp. He's not the best fantasy target.
Aug 12 - 7:26 PM

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak confirmed that signing a center was a priority in free agency.

"From the beginning, it was a priority for us to get a big player," Kupchak said. "I’m not going to tell you who the first, second or third or fourth (option) was. But clearly we were aggressive at the center position." It's hard to imagine anyone except Hassan Whiteside was option number one, but the Lakers ultimately wound up betting on Mozgov and are certain to be under the microscope for their gamble.
Jul 9 - 8:20 PM

Timofey Mozgov said the Lakers promised him a bigger role when he signed with the team.

While Mozgov didn't finish his Cavaliers tenure with a big role, Lakers head coach Luke Walton has promised him a significant role in Los Angeles. "He said I’m going to play a lot. I really like it," Mozgov said. "He said I’m going to be a big part of the team on the offensive and defensive end." Mozgov only averaged 6.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 17.4 minutes with the Cavaliers last season, but he will be worth a late-round flier if the Lakers make good on their promise and give him more than 25 minutes per game.
Jul 5 - 9:06 AM

The Lakers and Timofey Mozgov have agreed to a four-year, $65 million deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

He's the first unrestricted deal to get done, which is saying something for a guy who saw four DNP-CDs in the final 10 games of the postseason. The Lakers really needed a center, so this is what they believed his market value would be. Mozgov's annual average salary will in the neighborhood of John Wall, who voiced his displeasure about Reggie Jackson matching his pay. Obviously, these contracts will be huge this month. Expect Mozgov to get more minutes with the Lakers than with the Cavs.
Jul 1 - 1:15 AM

The Lakers are making a serious run at free agent center Timofey Mozgov according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

The Lakers only have one center under contract in rookie Ivica Zubac, so this would be a nice landing spot for Mozgov. With that said, Mozgov looked like a shell of himself in Cleveland last season and eventually fell out of the rotation, posting averages of 6.3 points, 4.4 boards and 0.8 blocks in 17.4 minutes. Wojnarowski is reporting that the Lakers are in serious talks on the framework of a four-year, $65 million deal.
Jul 1 - 12:10 AM

Timofey Mozgov is drawing interest from the Cavs, Rockets, Heat, Warriors and Spurs, sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

Mozgov was absolutely awful in 2015-16 and it's likely that all of these teams view the big man as a low-rent insurance policy at best. He's not going to be on the fantasy radar unless something very unexpected happens.
