Timofey Mozgov (knee) is not expected to be limited in training camp.

He had a knee scope in July and has been fully expected to be ready for camp all along. Mozgov could have a tougher time getting a solidified role with the Cavs set to have Anderson Varejao ready to go. Plus, Tristan Thompson should get more run, assuming he signs. Mozzy isn't a great fantasy target with his lower upside.

Timofey Mozgov (knee) is expected to be ready in time for training camp.

Mozgov had a minor knee surgery back in July, but it was never considered to be serious and he didn't even tell the Cavs that his knee was bothering him until after the playoffs. Mozgov is expected to resume his role as the starting center even with Anderson Varejao (Achilles) back in the fold, and he is worth a selection in the later rounds after averaging 10.6 points, 6.9 boards and 1.2 blocks for Cleveland last season.

Timofey Mozgov (knee) will not play for Russia in the EuroBasket tournament that begins in early-September.

Mozgov underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early-July, but with his timetable set at 6-weeks, he'll have more than enough time to recover for training camp. He averaged 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game with the Cavs last season, but he'll have some increased competition for minutes this upcoming season with Anderson Varejao (Achilles) on track to be 100 percent for training camp, and newly signed Sasha Kaun (who also will not play for Russia) on the roster. We'd wait until the later rounds before spending a draft pick on Mozgov.

Timofey Mozgov (knee) will wait another two weeks before deciding whether or not he will play for Team Russia this summer.

Mozgov underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday, and was given a 6-week recovery timetable. He reportedly injured his knee during the playoffs, but played through it, and the fact he hasn't ruled out playing for Russia this summer can be viewed as a positive. Mozgov has plenty of time to get himself right for the 2015-16 season, and after averaging 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game with the Cavs last season, he'll make for a decent selection in next year's fantasy drafts once the big name centers are off the board.

Timofey Mozgov underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday, and he's expected to make a full recovery in 6-weeks.

Arthroscopic surgery really isn't that big of a deal, and he has plenty of time to recover to be 100 percent for training camp. Mozgov averaged 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game with the Cavs during the 2014-15 season, and he'll make for a quality late-round target in next year's drafts.
Jul 2 - 6:16 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers have decided to use their team option on the final year of Timofey Mozgov's contract.

This move was a no-brainer for the Cavs as they'll only have to pay the 28-year-old $4.9 million next season. Mozgov averaged 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks with the Cavs in the regular season and slightly exceeded those numbers in the postseason, so fantasy owners should keep an eye on him as a mid-to-late round option in standard leagues.
Jun 23 - 11:48 AM

Timofey Mozgov started Game 6 and finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds (seven offensive), two assists and four blocks in 33 minutes of action.

The Cavs stayed in the game with a parade of free throws, but made only 27-of-39 from the charity stripe while committing 17 turnovers to just nine for Golden State. Mozgov's rim protection, rebounding and savvy post play was a big reason Cleveland slashed the deficit to four points at halftime, but Mozzy was a mixed blessing. He was tasked with guarding Andre Iguodala, who made Cleveland pay by hitting jumpers, and his slow rotations hurt the Cavs whenever they trapped Stephen Curry. Despite the Cavs' Finals defeat, their trade for Mozgov paid off and they'll obviously retain him via a $4.9 million team option next season.
Jun 17 - 12:37 AM

Cavs coach David Blatt suggested he'll give Timofey Mozgov a bigger role in Game 6, after playing his starting center only nine minutes on Sunday.

"Did I make a mistake? Listen, when you’re coaching a game, you’ve got to make decisions," Blatt said. "That’s just the way that we played it, and Timo will be back and he will not lose his way or lose his head just because he didn’t play a lot. He’ll be back playing like he always can, I’m sure, because he’s got character." The resulting small-ball lineup was partially effective for Cleveland but it exacerbated their lack of depth and the Cavs' regulars were running on fumes in the fourth quarter. Expect to see more Mozgov during Tuesday's potential elimination game.
Jun 16 - 10:01 AM

Timofey Mozgov played just nine minutes in Sunday's Game 5 loss to the Warriors, producing just one steal with two turnovers as the Cavs went small.

Mozgov is susceptible in the pick-and-roll whenever the Warriors go small but this will be a decision that gets scrutinized over the next few days. The Russian has been one of the best players on the floor during this series, and though he got turned over early as the Warriors double-teamed him in the post it's surprising he didn't get at least 20 minutes tonight. Especially with fatigue being an issue and staring at an elimination game, Cleveland fans should hope David Blatt finds a creative way to keep both of his bigs' minutes up.
Jun 14 - 11:29 PM

Timofey Mozgov scored a career-high 28 points during a 103-82 loss to the Warriors on Thursday, adding 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and three turnovers in 33 minutes.

The Warriors were fine with Mozgov getting his in the post with Andrew Bogut only receiving three minutes tonight. Mozgov has been getting to the line a ton in this series and made 10-of-12 from there in the loss tonight. He's also been terrific at defense within six feet before tonight, but the Warriors were a lot better around the rim this evening. He'll be looking at big minutes again on Sunday.
Jun 12 - 12:05 AM

Timofey Mozgov finished Sunday's impressive Game 2 victory with 17 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes, despite not playing at all in the fourth quarter

Mozgov did a terrific job attacking the glass and rolling toward the hoop offensively -- he shot 5-of-8 from the field and overcame a brutal start to finish 7-of-12 at the FT line. Mozzy and Tristan Thompson have proven to be a formidable problem for Golden State in the Finals, and the matchup-game will only gain more prominence as the series shifts to Cleveland tied 1-1.
Jun 7 - 11:57 PM

Timofey Mozgov finished Cleveland's Game 3 home win with nine points, five rebounds and two blocks in 22 minutes of action.

The Cavs' starting center got a bloody nose in practice courtesy of teammate Tristan Thompson, but that wasn't a limiting factor on Sunday. Al Horford was ejected in the first half which led to small-ball lineups from the Hawks, so coach David Blatt countered with a LeBron/Tristan Thompson frontcourt for most of the second half. Mozgov has played 30+ minutes just once this postseason so fantasy owners shouldn't be shocked when he's held to the low 20s.
May 25 - 12:06 AM

Timofey Mozgov was a non-factor in 23 minutes during Tuesday's Game 5 win, missing all seven of his field goals to finish with one point, six rebounds and one block.

Mozgov missed four shots within three feet of the rim and coach David Blatt didn't hesitate to bench him in favor of a small lineup with Tristan Thompson at center and LeBron James at power forward. Mozgov posted 15 points, nine boards, three assists and three blocks in nearly 40 minutes during Game 4, so the flow of the game will likely dictate his role in Chicago on Thursday.
May 12 - 9:52 PM

Timofey Mozgov played very well during Sunday's 86-84 win over the Bulls, scoring 15 points (4-of-5 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), with nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three turnovers through 39 minutes of action.

The 39 minutes were the most amount of minutes Mozgov has played this postseason, and he was crucial to the Cavs victory today. The Cavs don't have any real options to play behind Mozgov, so perhaps he continues to see heavy minutes for the remainder of the series. Fellow frontcourt-mate Tristan Thompson also played well through his 30 minutes of action, putting up 12 points while hauling in seven rebounds and throwing down some vicious dunks in the process. The Cavs will now head back to Cleveland with their second-round series all evened up at two-a-piece.
