Timofey Mozgov scored six points with six rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 22 minutes during a start against the Pelicans on Saturday.
He just doesn't have much of a fantasy upside even with Kevin Love (quad) out. Leave Mozgov on the wire. Feb 6 - 10:49 PM

Date:

Timofey Mozgov will start for Kevin Love (quad) on Saturday against the Pelicans.

That will bump Tristan Thompson over to power forward. Thompson has a tiny 6.1 usage rate when Love is off the court while LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are on, but it shouldn't matter for his output tonight thanks to a lot of boards and minutes. Mozgov isn't a great DFS play with the Cavs likely set to go small more often than usual.

Timofey Mozgov will come off the bench on Monday against the Cavs

He's actually played OK lately, but coach Ty Lue will go back to Tristan Thompson tonight. Leave Mozgov on the wire in most leagues.
Jan 25 - 6:58 PM

Timofey Mozgov was wearing a white practice uniform at Monday's shootaround, indicating a possible return to the bench.

Starters are dressed in wine practice uniforms, so it's possible that The Russian Bear is heading back to a reserve role for Monday's game vs. Minnesota. We should have more info soon, and Mozgov's demotion would likely mean Tristan Thompson is inserted back with the first five. Stay tuned.
Jan 25 - 11:12 AM

Timofey Mozgov finished Wednesday's road win in Brooklyn with 11 points, five rebounds and nothing else in 20 minutes of action.

This shouldn't be noteworthy but it is, as it's only Mozgov's third double-digit scoring performance in the past two months. The Cavs may be trying to increase his trade value but either way he's installed as the starting center for the foreseeable future, to the detriment of Tristan Thompson (14 points, 10 boards).
Jan 20 - 11:13 PM

Timofey Mozgov will start against the Nets on Wednesday.

The Cavs have been really bad with Mozzy in the first unit and he had the lowest net rating in the Monday beating against the Warriors. He has very little fantasy value.
Jan 20 - 6:21 PM

Timofey Mozgov started against the Warriors on Monday with six points, three rebounds and one block in 15 minutes.

He just isn't a good player anymore and the Cavs are considerably better when Tristan Thompson is out there this season. Mozgov probably won't start most nights and is not valuable in most leagues.
Jan 18 - 10:46 PM

Timofey Mozgov will start again on Monday vs. the Warriors.

There is no reason to believe that this will be a permanent move, as the Cavs probably just want his size to match up with Andrew Bogut. Regardless of whether he starts or not, Mozgov is a deep-league asset at best.
Jan 18 - 7:54 PM

Timofey Mozgov is expected to remain in Cleveland's starting lineup on Monday vs. the Warriors.

With Golden State starting Andrew Bogut at center, such a move would make sense. It's unclear if Mozgov will hold off Tristan Thompson for the job beyond today, but the man Blake Griffin once made famous isn't worth rostering in fantasy leagues.
Jan 18 - 11:47 AM

The Cavaliers are reportedly making calls on the market for Timofey Mozgov.

The big man has been a shadow of himself this season after a dominant performance in the NBA Finals last season, and there is some concern that he never fully healed after offseason knee surgery. The Cavs started him on Friday vs. the Rockets because they needed his size against Dwight Howard, but he only played 18 minutes with two points, two boards and one block. There's little incentive to stash Mozgov.
Jan 16 - 10:07 AM

Timofey Mozgov failed to produce much at all as a starter for the Cavs on Friday, tallying just two points, two boards, one assists and one block through 18 minutes of action.

Mozgov's inclusion in the starting five for Friday's game was likely nothing more than a matchup-based decision with Dwight Howard on the other end, and after this lackluster performance there's not much reason to believe he'll stick in the starting lineup moving forward. On the season, Mozgov ranks well outside the top-200 and belongs on the waiver wire in nearly all leagues.
Jan 16 - 12:46 AM

Timofey Mozgov will return to the starting lineup for Friday's game vs. the Rockets, sending Tristan Thompson back to the bench.

This is likely just a matchup-based decision with big Dwight Howard waiting on the other end. Mozgov has been better as a starter this season with averages of 6.8 points, 4.2 boards and 0.8 blocks, but that's not saying much. Thompson's value takes a hit with the demotion to the second-unit, but he's still the better player to own between the two.
Jan 15 - 9:07 PM

Timofey Mozgov had 10 points, nine rebounds, two steals and a block in 21 minutes off the Cavs' bench on Tuesday.

Starter Tristan Thompson didn't do much tonight and this was Mozzy's best game in a month. We're not going to read too much into it, but Mozgov should be on your radar now, especially if you own Thompson (2 points, 6 boards, 23 minutes).
Jan 13 - 1:24 AM

The Cavaliers are reportedly not planning on trading Timofey Mozgov.

Though teams have been calling about the struggling center, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports that the Cavs are more inclined on hoping Mozgov turns things around. Trade rumors aside, Mozgov can be dropped in standard fantasy leagues as he's in danger of losing his job to Anderson Varejao.

LeBron James said he is doing his best to help Timofey Mozgov through his struggles.

"I'm not sure where he's mentally," James said. "Only he knows that. As a leader of the team, you just give him as much positive energy, give him as much positive notion about what he needs to do for our team." Mozgov was benched against the 76ers on Sunday for taking an ill-advised shot, and you could tell that the Cavs were visibly frustrated with him. He played just nine total minutes, and it's clear that his role on this team is in jeopardy if he doesn't turn things around.
