Timofey Mozgov scored 20 points with five rebounds in a friendly against Hungary on Friday.
He didn't take any 3-pointers for the Russian national team. Mozgov is hopeful he can add that to his game, but it won't be easy. While he was just 7-of-40 from deep in his career, he was 13-of-34 (38.2 percent) on his shots from 20-24 feet over the last three season. He's a terrible fit for the NBA's reigning fastest team, so he's not a great fantasy target. Aug 11 - 5:27 PM

Timofey Mozgov said he's going to surprise people by showcasing his 3-point shot next season.

Mozgov does have a decent mid-range game, but he's 7-of-40 from beyond the arc in his career. "I’ve already talked with the coach," he said. "It seems to me, this year it will surprise many that I’ll can shoot the [3-point shot]. It will be interesting. But we'll see." Mozgov will play for Russia in Eurobasket next month, so we'll get an idea of his progress then. Mozgov may be the starter on opening night in Brooklyn, but he will have to fend off intriguing rookie Jarrett Allen. With averages of 7.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and just 0.6 blocks per contest last season, he won't be a recommended fantasy target.

Timofey Mozgov has been traded to the Nets as a part of the Brook Lopez deal, according to sources of Adrian Wojnarowski.

Brooklyn was one of the few teams out there capable of taking on Mozgov's horrendous contract without it severely hampering the franchise, and while he could be a starter for the Nets next season, that doesn't mean much. Through 52 games as a starter for the Lakers this past season, Mozgov only managed to contribute averages of 7.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and just 0.6 blocks per contest.
Jun 20 - 6:38 PM

Timofey Mozgov said that he expects to play far more for the Lakers next season.

The Lakers shockingly handed Mozgov a four-year, $64-million deal last June. Seven months later, they benched him for Tarik Black, an undrafted journeyman. Mozgov admitted it was tough to ride the bench. "It was not easy at all. Deeper in the season it was a bit more harder," said Mozgov. "Sometimes it’s not about you, it’s about the team." Surprisingly, Mozgov stated that he would spend the off-season working on his three-point shot. Despite the optimism, fantasy owners will want to continue to steer clear of Mozgov.
Apr 14 - 12:11 PM

Timofey Mozgov left Wednesday practice early with a left ankle sprain.

He is going to be questionable to play on Friday. Mozgov is not in the rotation anyway and the Lakers have gone with Thomas Robinson off the bench. Of course, Ivica Zubac will be getting heavy run the rest of the way.
Mar 22 - 4:05 PM

According to Marc Spears of ESPN, the Lakers have decided to "shut down healthy center Timofey Mozgov to take a stronger look at their younger guys for the rest of the season."

Mozgov was already out of the rotation, having appeared in only one game since the All-Star break, back on March 5. It seems that will be the last game Mozgov plays this season. He should obviously be on waivers in all fantasy leagues. Remarkably, it was only eight months ago that the Lakers signed Mozgov to a four-year, $64 million contract, which means he is still owed $48 million over the next three seasons.
Mar 14 - 11:32 AM

Timofey Mozgov returned to the Lakers' rotation on Sunday with eight points, five rebounds, one block and four personal fouls in 15 minutes.

Ivica Zubac was out tonight with a bruised quad, which thrust Mozgov back into the rotation. It's telling that an injury to a rookie is the only reason Mozgov can get on the court, despite the Lakers' decision to sign him for $64 million over four years last summer.
Mar 6 - 12:17 AM

Timofey Mozgov was a DNP-CD on Wednesday.

That's two DNP-CDs in a row as the Lakers get a look at their younger guys. Mozgov could get minutes at some point, but clearly there's almost no reason to hold him in most fantasy leagues.
Feb 8 - 11:36 PM

Timofey Mozgov picked up a DNP-CD on Monday vs. the Knicks.

He didn't touch the floor in the blowout and it's clear that he's going to be the third-string center for the time being -- the Lakers are prioritizing player development moving forward and they want to give Ivica Zubac more run. If Mozgov cracks the rotation in the near future, it will likely be at the expense of Tarik Black and not Zubac.
Feb 6 - 9:58 PM

Timofey Mozgov will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Knicks, with Tarik Black drawing the start.

Luke Walton said he talked to both Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss about shifting Mozgov and Luol Deng to the second unit in order to prioritize the development of Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac, and they both got behind the decision. Mozgov looks like he might be the third-string center in Los Angeles now, so there's no reason to own him in any league.

Timofey Mozgov did not score with one rebound, one assist and two blocks in 17 minutes against the Wizards on Thursday.

He will be keeping his starting job, but he may just be getting the first stint for each half and that's it. Mozgov isn't worth owning in almost any league with his low upside.
Feb 2 - 10:24 PM

Timofey Mozgov did not score against the Spurs on Thursday, adding four rebounds and one block in 10 minutes.

It was arguably his worst game of the season on both ends. After he played a whopping 38 minutes on Jan. 3, Mozgov has trended down big time with averages of 17.4 points, 7.0 points, 4.4 boards, 0.4 assists and 0.4 blocks in his last five. He should be around 20-24 minutes most nights, but doesn't have much value.
Jan 12 - 11:29 PM

Timofey Mozgov did not practice on Wednesday and is expected to be fine for Thursday against the Spurs.

Coach Luke Walton said Mozgov may have taken an elbow to his hand, but there is no reason to think he'll miss Thursday at this point.
Jan 11 - 4:19 PM

Timofey Mozgov had one of his best games all season on Sunday, scoring 15 points on 7-of-7 shooting with nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 30 minutes.

Orlando isn't a particularly easy matchup for centers, which makes this performance even more surprising. That said, Mozgov hasn't scored 10+ points in consecutive games since early December, and his wild inconsistency makes him unusable in most leagues.
Jan 9 - 1:45 AM

Timofey Mozgov played just 11 minutes and had seven points and five rebounds in Thursday's 118-109 loss to the Blazers.

The 11 minutes tied a season low and the Lakers went with a small lineup against the Blazers for matchup purposes, as well as the pace of the game. Mozgov is a borderline fantasy center who mixes up good outings with bad ones. He's averaging 7.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks in 22 minutes over his last five games, which is probably what you can expect from him going forward. You can likely do better off your waiver wire.
