Timofey Mozgov came off the bench and played just six minutes vs. Boston on Tuesday with two points and one rebound.

He wasn't a fantasy asset as the full-time starter and the move to the bench completely takes him off the radar. It won't be long before Jarrett Allen passes him on the depth chart as well.
Nov 14 - 10:14 PM

Timofey Mozgov will head to the bench for Wednesday's game against the Celtics.

He's being replaced by Trevor Booker in the starting unit, and it'll be interesting to see what his minutes look like tonight in a reserve role with Jarrett Allen (foot) returning to action. Mozgov hasn't done anything noteworthy this season, so he's safe to leave on the waiver wire in all formats.
Nov 14 - 6:49 PM

Timofey Mozgov was in the starting lineup Saturday at Utah, but he finished with just three points, one rebound, one blocked shot and one steal across 11 minutes.

Mozgov didn't get into foul trouble, and in fact he has no personals. He still managed to log a dismal minus-20 rating in his little bit of playing time, as Quincy Acy once again outplayed him despite coming off the bench. The undersized Acy continues to carve out a nice role for himself and is the better fantasy option despite the fact head coach Kenny Atkinson continues to start the veteran Mozgov.
Nov 12 - 1:23 AM

Timofey Mozgov scored nine points with five rebounds in 18 minutes against the Blazers on Friday.

The Nets really don't want to play him big minutes even though he was the only player talker than 6'8" for the Nets today. Mozgov just doesn't have upside.
Nov 11 - 1:23 AM

Timofey Mozgov did not take any shots with two rebounds and one steal in 12 minutes against the Cavs on Wednesday.

He had the old 0.0 usage rate tonight. Mozgov's minutes continue to drop and he really doesn't fit how this team operates, especially with how quickly Jarrett Allen has picked the system on both ends. If you own Mozzy, you're better off just stashing someone and taking a zero in the short term.
Oct 25 - 11:19 PM

Timofey Mozgov scored four points with six rebounds in 16 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

This offense is just too fast and Jarrett Allen continues to look good. It feels like it's just a matter of time before Mozgov loses his starting job.
Oct 21 - 1:14 AM

Timofey Mozgov scored five points with eight rebounds, four turnovers and one 3-poiner in 16 minutes against the Heat on Thursday.

It looked like the Nets actually drew up a top-of-the-arc trey for Mozzy, and he actually made it. We saw coach Kenny Atkinson transform Brook Lopez into a 3-point guy and Mozgov was taking triples for the Russian team this summer, so maybe he can make an impact in that category. He'll have Jarrett Allen pushing him for minutes all year, but Mozzy may have value to start the year. Most fantasy owners should be able to do better, though.
Oct 5 - 10:34 PM

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson has been impressed by Timofey Mozgov in camp.

"He’s going to be a good screener for us, I can see that … he’s going to play a big role," Atkinson said. "Not bad. He runs the floor, we got him on that pass — we like that pass over the top. He scored a couple of times on the block. So good debut for him." Mozgov is projected to start at center on opening night, but the Nets will likely use a committee at center with Jarrett Allen and Tyler Zeller in the mix. Trevor Booker and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson could play some 5 as well, so Mozgov is only worth a look in deeper formats.

Oct 1 - 10:10 AM

Timofey Mozgov scored 20 points with five rebounds in a friendly against Hungary on Friday.

He didn't take any 3-pointers for the Russian national team. Mozgov is hopeful he can add that to his game, but it won't be easy. While he was just 7-of-40 from deep in his career, he was 13-of-34 (38.2 percent) on his shots from 20-24 feet over the last three season. He's a terrible fit for the NBA's reigning fastest team, so he's not a great fantasy target.

Aug 11 - 5:27 PM

Timofey Mozgov said he's going to surprise people by showcasing his 3-point shot next season.

Mozgov does have a decent mid-range game, but he's 7-of-40 from beyond the arc in his career. "I’ve already talked with the coach," he said. "It seems to me, this year it will surprise many that I’ll can shoot the [3-point shot]. It will be interesting. But we'll see." Mozgov will play for Russia in Eurobasket next month, so we'll get an idea of his progress then. Mozgov may be the starter on opening night in Brooklyn, but he will have to fend off intriguing rookie Jarrett Allen. With averages of 7.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and just 0.6 blocks per contest last season, he won't be a recommended fantasy target.

Jul 24 - 10:14 AM

Timofey Mozgov has been traded to the Nets as a part of the Brook Lopez deal, according to sources of Adrian Wojnarowski.

Brooklyn was one of the few teams out there capable of taking on Mozgov's horrendous contract without it severely hampering the franchise, and while he could be a starter for the Nets next season, that doesn't mean much. Through 52 games as a starter for the Lakers this past season, Mozgov only managed to contribute averages of 7.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and just 0.6 blocks per contest.
Jun 20 - 6:38 PM

Timofey Mozgov said that he expects to play far more for the Lakers next season.

The Lakers shockingly handed Mozgov a four-year, $64-million deal last June. Seven months later, they benched him for Tarik Black, an undrafted journeyman. Mozgov admitted it was tough to ride the bench. "It was not easy at all. Deeper in the season it was a bit more harder," said Mozgov. "Sometimes it’s not about you, it’s about the team." Surprisingly, Mozgov stated that he would spend the off-season working on his three-point shot. Despite the optimism, fantasy owners will want to continue to steer clear of Mozgov.
Apr 14 - 12:11 PM

Timofey Mozgov left Wednesday practice early with a left ankle sprain.

He is going to be questionable to play on Friday. Mozgov is not in the rotation anyway and the Lakers have gone with Thomas Robinson off the bench. Of course, Ivica Zubac will be getting heavy run the rest of the way.
Mar 22 - 4:05 PM

According to Marc Spears of ESPN, the Lakers have decided to "shut down healthy center Timofey Mozgov to take a stronger look at their younger guys for the rest of the season."

Mozgov was already out of the rotation, having appeared in only one game since the All-Star break, back on March 5. It seems that will be the last game Mozgov plays this season. He should obviously be on waivers in all fantasy leagues. Remarkably, it was only eight months ago that the Lakers signed Mozgov to a four-year, $64 million contract, which means he is still owed $48 million over the next three seasons.
