Gary Neal was ejected for two technical fouls against the Pacers on Thursday night.
He was just 1-of-11 from the field for six points, three rebounds, six assists and two turnovers. Neal had a big start to his preseason, but he shot just 12-of-46 (26.1 percent) from the field in his last four. He'll be a low-upside guy off the bench this season. Oct 23 - 9:07 PM

Gary Neal came out of nowhere to put up 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in Monday's preseason game against the Hawks.

Neal has had a solid preseason but this is ridiculous. He hit 7-of-17 shots (2-of-4 from deep and 5-of-6 from the line) in his 36 minutes, and if fantasy owners in deep leagues want to bump him up their cheat sheets they can go for it. But expecting Neal to be a standard league producer when Gerald Henderson returns is still a bit optimistic.
Oct 20 - 11:54 PM

In 21 minutes off the Hornets bench on Sunday, Gary Neal scored six points with seven rebounds, three assists and four turnovers.

Neal was red-hot in his first four preseason games but has since gone cold, and his reality as a fantasy option lies somewhere in between. As long as Charlotte's starting backcourt is healthy, there's no reason to give him any thought in typical formats.
Oct 19 - 10:57 PM

Gary Neal finally cooled off with four points on just 2-of-12 shooting with three assists and six turnovers in a 31-minute start on Friday.

Neal wasn't breaking down any doors with his preseason surge but in deeper formats he has been well worth watching. He started tonight, but will come off the bench when the games start to count.
Oct 17 - 10:57 PM

Gary Neal scored a team-high 20 points for the Hornets on Wednesday, hitting 5-of-9 FGs and 10-of-10 FTs in support of starters Brian Roberts and Lance Stephenson.

Kemba Walker (knee) wasn't available and the Hornets' offense fell to pieces without him. They scored 84 points on just 34.1 percent shooting, including a paltry 3-of-22 mark from downtown. They'll look to bounce back during Friday's road game in Washington D.C.
Oct 15 - 1:31 PM

Gary Neal was superb in the starting lineup against the Wizards on Friday with 19 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers.

Lance Stephenson (toe) doesn't have a serious injury and should be back in the lineup soon. Neal will likely need Stephenson to remain out of the lineup to be relevant in fantasy hoops this season.
Oct 10 - 10:27 PM

Gary Neal will start in place of Lance Stephenson (toe) for Friday's preseason game vs. the Wizards.

Lance is out with a cut to his small toe, clearing the way for Neal to get the start. Neal will provide some solid outside shooting off the bench for the Hornets this season, but his inability to contribute in other statistical categories makes him an unappealing option in most leagues.
Oct 10 - 6:05 PM

Gary Neal came off the bench and had 14 points, three rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer on 5-of-8 shooting in 21 minutes Wednesday.

Neal will have his share of big games off the Hornets' bench this season, but there's no reason to draft him as long as Kemba Walker and Lance Stephenson are healthy.
Oct 8 - 10:09 PM

Gary Neal is impressing at training camp according to the Charlotte Observer.

"He knows the offense – how to get a shot, how to make a play, how to move the ball, how he should play," head coach Steve Clifford said on Thursday. Despite being loaded at shooting guard, the Observer insists that Neal will be heavily involved in the rotation. Still, his fantasy upside is capped due to his inability to contribute to all categories across the board.
Oct 2 - 5:54 PM

Gary Neal lost about 22 pounds over the summer.

Charlotte played him 26.0 minutes per game during the playoffs, but he didn't play well based on his 35.3 percent from the field against the Heat in the first round. Neal's fantasy outlook doesn't look great with Lance Stephenson set to soak up the majority of the minutes at shooting guard.
Sep 25 - 8:57 PM

Gary Neal played 28 minutes off the bench against the Heat on Sunday, scoring 17 points with three boards and two 3-pointers.

He ate into Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's playing time, which is not really a surprise. MKG doesn't bring much on the offensive end and didn't score in the first half before putting in five after halftime, so this probably going to be a trend in this series.
Apr 20 - 5:57 PM

Gary Neal hit 5-of-14 shots and a 3-pointer off the bench for 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's overtime win against the Wizards.

Neal has had some games like this at times this season, but simply isn't reliable enough to put into your lineup as long as he's coming off the bench. Kemba Walker was struggling with his shot tonight, hitting just 6-of-21 for 17 points and 12 assists, so Neal may have seen a few more minutes than normal. The Bobcats moved up to the No. 6 seed with the win, led by Al Jefferson's typically strong line of 20 points and 18 boards.
Apr 9 - 9:47 PM

Gary Neal returned on Monday vs. the Wizards with nine points, six boards, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes.

He suffered knee and ankle injuries over the past week and was right back at his 21.2 minutes per game. Neal was hot before going down, but Chris Douglas-Roberts has played well enough to take some minutes out of Neal's allotment. He can be left alone in most formats.
Mar 31 - 10:43 PM

Gary Neal (knee, ankle) will play against the Wizards on Monday.

He's been expected to play since Sunday and the news became official today. Neal was playing well before his knee issue, but he'll likely have to give some of his work to Chris Douglas-Roberts tonight. The two kind of cancel each other out for most fantasy owners.
Mar 31 - 6:34 PM

Gary Neal (knee) stated that he felt fine at the end of Sunday's practice and expects to suit up for Monday's game vs. the Wizards.

Nothing is official just yet, but things are looking positive for Neal. He doesn't offer much outside of points and 3-pointers, but if you're looking for a spot-start to bolster those categories, Neal could be your guy.
