Gary Neal and Patty Mills combined to score 48 points off the bench against the Warriors on Monday.
Neal scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting with four rebounds, five assists and one steal, and Mills had 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting with five treys, two assists and two steals. Both guys can get hot during the tail end of a season, so owners should give both a hard look for Wednesday. Nando De Colo added nine points with nine assists and five steals, and owners should also keep in mind the Warriors struggle defensively. Apr 16 - 12:59 AM

Date:

Gary Neal came off the bench for 17 points, two assists and three 3-pointers in 24 minutes on Wednesday.

With Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Stephen Jackson all hurting, Neal could get some nice run down the stretch, making him a potential fantasy pickup if you're still playing. However, even with the Spurs depleted, Neal is still a fairly hit-or-miss option from night to night.
Apr 11 - 1:49 AM

Gary Neal shot 5-of-11 from the field for 14 points off the bench against the Thunder on Thursday, adding one assist and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.

This is his second game in a row with solid production and he's the heavy favorite to be the beneficiary of Manu Ginobili's injury. That said, Neal is a risky pickup with the way Gregg Popovich plays the matchups and seemingly runs a different rotation every night. Danny Green had a rough night, scoring just six points with two 3-pointers, but he's a must-start player for leagues that count treys.
Apr 5 - 12:23 AM

Gary Neal had 16 points, eight rebounds and four 3-pointers in Wednesday's win over the Magic.

Neal played 27 minutes on Monday and 31 minutes Wednesday, but it's not all due to Manu Ginobili's hamstring injury. Both Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker rested tonight, and Tim Duncan/Stephen Jackson barely played. Fantasy owners shouldn't subject themselves to coach Gregg Popovich unnecessarily right now.
Apr 3 - 11:10 PM

Gary Neal played 27 minutes against the Grizzlies on Monday, scoring eight points with one board, three assists and two 3-pointers.

He averaged just 18.5 minutes per game in his previous two, so this was an unexpected increase in minutes. Neal is likely the winner of the Manu Ginobili injury, but the messy Gregg Popovich rotations should keep him out of the standard league discussion.
Apr 1 - 11:55 PM

Gary Neal (foot) played on Friday, scoring eight points on 3-of-10 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound and six assists in 19 minutes.

Neal has been a non-factor this season and he'll need some major help to be worth monitoring in most formats.
Mar 30 - 2:15 AM

Gary Neal is active on Wednesday after missing three games with a foot injury.

There was no word of the injury prior to tonight, but he said before the game that he was ordered to take some time off to rest his swollen foot. That explains why he's been on the inactive list for the past week.
Mar 27 - 7:29 PM

Gary Neal has been on the Spurs' inactive list for the past three games.

Neal is healthy, but he's still racking up DNP-CDs with Tony Parker active and Nando De Colo soaking up most of the backup PG minutes.
Mar 24 - 9:49 PM

Gary Neal, who scored 16 points on Thursday, was scoreless in two minutes vs. the Cavaliers on Saturday.

Starting PG Cory Joseph didn't fare much better with seven points, three assists and four personal fouls in 18 minutes. Tonight it was Manu Ginobili and Nando De Colo doing most of the ball-handling, just one more reminder of the Spurs' erratic backcourt rotations.
Mar 16 - 11:20 PM

Gary Neal came off the bench for 16 points with two boards, three assists one steal and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes against the Mavericks on Thursday.

He didn't score in two of his last three games and this is pretty much old hat with how Gregg Popovich handles his secondary players. We wouldn't bother putting up with Neal, Cory Joseph (four points, two assists and one steal in 13 minutes) or Nando De Colo (DNP-CD) in standard leagues.
Mar 14 - 11:38 PM

Gary Neal played 26 minutes off the bench on Monday, scoring seven points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with six assists.

There's not a lot to see here, but if you're in a deeper league and trying to track which Spurs point guard is going to emerge then Neal took the lead tonight. Cory Joseph started and played 19 minutes but managed just four points on 2-of-2 shooting and one assist.
Mar 11 - 11:31 PM

Gary Neal (Achilles) returned to action on Friday and played four minutes.

Neal missed both of his shot attempts and had one rebound. Until he shows owners something, he should stay glued to the waiver wire.
Mar 9 - 3:03 AM

Gary Neal was expected to play through his Achilles injury on Wednesday, but never got off the bench.

The Spurs continue to roll opponents on a nightly basis and don't really need Neal to be effective. And with Manu Ginobili averaging 9.0 assists over his last three games, it's hard to imagine Neal doing much as long as Manu is healthy.
Mar 7 - 12:20 AM

Gary Neal (foot, Achilles) will play against the Bulls on Wednesday.

The messy situation at point guard just got messier. Neal hasn't been able to put anything together this year, so he's not exactly a favorite to pick up a bunch of minutes while Tony Parker is out. He will be on a minutes restriction tonight and owners in deep leagues should take a wait-and-see approach.
Mar 6 - 8:05 PM

Gary Neal (foot, Achilles) is expected to play Wednesday.

No surprise here as Neal was probable coming in, but unless he breaks his season-long cold streak, he's not much of an option for fantasy owners.
