Gary Neal played 18 minutes against the 76ers on Friday with 10 points, one rebound, six assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.
His minutes were a little low and it might have had to do with how the Hornets were up big in the fourth quarter. Neal should be better his next time out on Saturday against the Jazz, so give him a look if you need some short-term scoring. Dec 19 - 10:37 PM

Date:

Gary Neal scored eight points off the bench on Monday, hitting 3-of-10 shots (including a three) with two rebounds, six assists and one steal in 29 minutes.

Neal is somebody to watch with Lance Stephenson in trade rumors and the Hornets' lacking depth on the wing. He has had some trouble staying on the floor himself, but has been productive in spurts this season.
Dec 15 - 10:40 PM

Gary Neal received a flop warning from Friday, December 12 against the Grizzlies.

In a double-overtime affair, the Hornets were trailing by five with 20 seconds remaining, and Neal drew a foul by flopping against Tony Allen. He'll get a $5,000 fine if he's guilty again.
Dec 15 - 9:12 AM

Gary Neal scored 25 points off the bench against the Grizzlies on Friday with four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.

He played down the stretch and coach Steve Clifford seems to like using Neal when his team is behind. He played 30.0 minutes per game in his two games before an injury back on Nov. 24, so maybe Neal gets minutes in the low 20s. Of course, he's still not an option in most leagues until he strings together a few games.
Dec 13 - 1:28 AM

Gary Neal (shoulder) returned to action on Friday, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (no threes) with one rebound and three assists in 22 minutes off the bench.

Neal played fairly well despite the quiet line and he should be able to carve out a nice role. However, injuries and limited minutes make him a deep league asset at best.
Dec 5 - 10:05 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) will play Friday vs. the Knicks.

Head coach Steve Clifford said that he hopes Neal will be able to play his usual allotment of minutes, so deep league owners looking for some points and 3s should go ahead and grab him as he has a favorable matchup tonight vs. the Knicks.
Dec 5 - 6:33 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) will try and play Friday vs. the Knicks.

We'll have an official word on Neal's status after his pregame workout, but it's looking like he'll give it a go. Neal can offer some scoring, solid free throw shooting, and 3-pointers for owners in deeper leagues. Stay tuned.
Dec 5 - 12:23 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) is out for Wednesday's game against the Bulls.

He was questionable leading up to the game, but his shoulder is clearly still an issue. Brian Roberts will see an increase in minutes in Neal's absence, but he is not a viable option in most leagues. Neal should be considered for owners in deep leagues for his 3-pointers and scoring ability when he does return, so we will monitor his status closely.
Dec 3 - 11:37 AM

Gary Neal (shoulder) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Bulls.

While it is likely that he won't play according to coach Steve Clifford, owners in deep leagues should monitor Neal closely as he has been one of Charlotte's few bright spots this season. If you are in need of scoring or 3-pointers, give him a look if he is activated in time for Wednesday's game. If Neal sits this one out, Brian Roberts will get more run but is only an option in very deep leagues.
Dec 3 - 9:14 AM

Gary Neal (shoulder) is being considered questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Bulls.

It's worth noting that head coach Steve Clifford said that he doubted Neal would be able to play vs. Chicago, as he was unable to go through the contact portions of Monday's practice. If Neal is unable to go, Brian Roberts will continue to see minutes as the team's sixth man, but Roberts is a shaky option in standard leagues due to his hit-or-miss nature.
Dec 2 - 5:16 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice on Monday.

He is not close to a return and the Hornets will continue to use Brian Roberts as a sixth man. Neal can be left on the wire and Roberts is only a desperation play this week.
Dec 1 - 2:31 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) will not play against the Hawks on Saturday.

There is no timetable for his return and we're not expecting him to make it back soon. Neal can be cut in just about all leagues. Meanwhile, Brian Roberts has been hot as the sixth man and is worth a look as a short-term add.
Nov 29 - 6:34 PM

Gary Neal (shoulder) will not play Friday vs. the Warriors.

His absence will translate to more minutes for Gerald Henderson and P.J. Hairston, but it was Brian Roberts who went off for a career-high 24 points in his absence on Wednesday. If you're feeling lucky, Roberts could be worth a salary-relief play in daily leagues, while Henderson should get some decent run tonight, as well.

Gary Neal's shoulder injury will keep him out of Wednesday's game against the Blazers.

No surprise here, but P.J. Hairston is back from his ankle injury and could get Neal's minutes tonight.
Nov 26 - 11:26 AM

Gary Neal (sprained left shoulder) is being listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game vs. Portland.

If Neal is unable to go, his minutes would be split up between Gerald Henderson, Brian Roberts, and potentially P.J. Hairston if he's able to suit up. However, none of those guys make for a very attractive option in daily leagues, nor are they worthy of a pickup in standard leagues.
