Ish Smith was inactive for the Bucks on Saturday.
He was part of the trade that sent J.J. Redick to Milwaukee, but unlike Redick he doesn't have any fantasy value. He is owed a shade under $1 million for each of the next two seasons, though his 2014-15 salary is fully unguaranteed. Feb 24 - 1:02 AM

The Bucks acquired Ish Smith from the Magic in a trade on Thursday.

He'll be thrust into a better position with the Bucks and he could actually have the inside track to playing backup point guard behind Brandon Jennings, but Monta Ellis would likely slide over to the point should Jennings miss time. There's no need to think about grabbing him in the vast majority of leagues while Jennings is healthy.

Ish Smith struggled in a start for the short-handed Magic on Monday, shooting 2-of-10 from the field to finish with four points, three rebounds, two assists and three turnovers.

J.J. Redick (shoulder), Jameer Nelson (arm) and DeQuan Jones (foot) were all out tonight, allowing Smith to play 26 minutes, but he failed to capitalize on the enlarged role. All three injured players are listed as day-to-day.

Ishmael Smith started for injured Jameer Nelson (hip) on Monday against the Heat, scoring two points on 1-of-4 shooting with two rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes.

Smith had four turnovers in those limited minutes and the Magic turned to veteran Hedo Turkoglu to run the offense. The threat of that should eliminate any fantasy appeal for Smith, and for now Nelson's injury doesn't appear to be serious.

Ishmael Smith drew the start on Saturday and scored a season-high 14 points to go with two rebounds, six assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 38 minutes as the Magic were blown out 123-88 by the Raptors.

Jameer Nelson (hip) and E'Twaun Moore (elbow) both missed this game, but neither injury is expected to keep them out for long. The Magic take on the Heat on Monday, so the day off should help their injured guards.

Ish Smith improved his jump shot after shoulder surgery.

"I feel a whole lot more comfortable," he said. "I feel confident in it," referring to his jumper. Smith will compete with E'Twaun Moore for the backup PG spot behind Jameer Nelson, but right now, Moore looks to have the leg up in the competition.

Ishmael Smith scored six points in 12 minutes on Friday after missing time with a shoulder injury.

E'Twaun Moore has taken over the reserve point guard role for the Magic and had 18 points, two boards, three assists and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes. If you're looking for a point guard late in a very deep draft, Moore, and not Smith, is a guy you should be looking at.

Ish Smith (shoulder surgery) will make his preseason debut on Friday.

Originally, Smith wasn't expected to be ready until mid-November, but he's worked very hard to return and be ready for the regular season. Right now, we have Smith as third on the PG depth chart behind Jameer Nelson and E'Twaun Moore.

Ish Smith (shoulder surgery) could make his Magic debut on Wednesday, but he's more likely to wait until Friday's preseason finale.

"I’m not 100 percent, but I’m very close," Smith said. "I don’t know about [Wednesday] because I need a little more practice time, but it’s close." Unfortunately for Smith, he may have slipped behind converted SG E'Twaun Moore on the depth chart, thanks to a strong preseason from Moore.

Ish Smith (shoulder) said that he's gotten his range of motion back following surgery.

Smith is not expected to participate in training camp at all, so he's still a ways out in terms of his recovery. When he's ready to return, Smith will serve as a backup at point guard behind Jameer Nelson.

Ish Smith (shoulder surgery) is expected to miss training camp.

Smith was re-signed by the team in mid-August, and it's not clear when he sustained the shoulder injury. Regardless, Smith is expected to miss training camp and the Magic will roll with a heavy dose of Jameer Nelson and possibly E'Twaun Moore at the point until Smith is ready to return. Smith should be back by mid-November.

Magic re-sign G Ishmael Smith.

Orlando was looking for depth at PG behind Jameer Nelson and will bring back a familiar face as a result. Smith averaged 2.3 points and 1.6 assists on 37.3 percent shooting with the club last year. He won't have fantasy value without an injury to Nelson. He'll receive a three-year deal, with only the first season being guaranteed.

Jameer Nelson left Sunday's game after two minutes, resulting in more action for backups Ish Smith (six points, two assists in 21 minutes) and Chris Duhon (three points, three assists in 25 minutes).

The Magic are in a world of trouble without Nelson, Dwight or Hedo. To their credit they aren't whining or quitting or blaming each other, but they'll need more than good vibes to get past a first-round matchup with the Pacers.

Ishmael Smith made his Magic debut on Friday, playing nine minutes with two points on 1-of-2 shooting, two rebounds, four assists, and one steal in nine foul-plagued minutes.

Yes, Ish managed to rack up five fouls in just nine minutes, but that's going to be an outlier. Jameer Nelson sounds like he could be back on Monday, and if the Magic need a jumpstart at the PG position we wouldn't be surprised to see Smith get an opportunity down the road. For fantasy purposes, he's hands off as the No. 3 PG.

Magic signed G Ishmael Smith.

Orlando has made the move official, and Smith will replace the recently waived Larry Hughes on the roster. Smith will serve as depth behind Jameer Nelson and Chris Duhon.
