Ish Smith stayed hot on Friday with 15 points, four rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and one turnover in Friday against the Clippers.
The Pelicans have a back-to-back set coming up on Saturday, so expect Smith to get a start against the Jazz. It's a sub-par matchup, but Smith is just too good to bench. In his last five, he averaged 17.4 points, 5.0 boards, 9.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 treys. Even though his outlook isn't quite as rosy, he's a must-own player until further notice. Ish Smith was special yet again during a 120-114 win over the Suns on Wednesday, scoring 20 points with five rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

How can coach Alvin Gentry take this guy out of the lineup when Tyreke Evans comes back? He was 9-of-16 from the field tonight and has been marvelous over his last five, averaging 17.0 points, 4.8 boards, 9.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.8 treys on 51.4 percent from the field and 90.0 percent from the line. If you have him, you can't cut him until he slows down. Will that even happen?
Nov 26 - 2:00 AM

Ish Smith came off the Pelicans' bench for 17 points, nine boards, eight assists, three steals, one block and two turnovers in Sunday's home win.

Smith is giving New Orleans a nice spark whether he's coming off the bench or starting in place of Jrue Holiday (23 minutes), and he's worth owning as long as Holiday's medical restrictions are in place. In the past four games, he's averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 8.8 assists in 33.3 minutes. Not too shabby.
Nov 22 - 9:04 PM

Ish Smith was terrific off the bench against the Spurs on Friday with 17 points, four rebounds, 13 assists and one 3-pointer.

He made 7-of-10 from the field for his best game of the season. Smith is playing too well to be pulled out of the rotation, but he's likely going to lose minutes once Tyreke Evans (knee) comes back. His owners should probably hold tight unless there is a hot free agent out there that won't last.
Nov 21 - 12:56 AM

Ish Smith started again on Wednesday and notched 18 points, three rebounds and six assists in a road loss the Thunder.

He shot 8-of-20 from the field with no defensive stats, but also committed just one turnover in 34 minutes. This was Smith's third start of the season -- in the first two he averaged 12.5 points, 1.5 triples, 6.0 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals. He's a great DFS play whenever Jrue Holiday is rested, and is worth holding in most leagues until Holiday's medical restrictions are lifted.
Nov 18 - 11:27 PM

Ish Smith played 38 minutes against the Nuggets on Tuesday with 13 points, three rebounds, eight assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer on 6-of-9 from the field.

The Pelicans are so thin that Smith actually played next to Jrue Holiday for 12.2 minutes. They even had a lineup of Smith, Toney Douglas and Eric Gordon out there for 7.8 minutes. Smith should have another month of value and he would see a small uptick if Anthony Davis needed to miss time.
Nov 18 - 12:51 AM

Ish Smith made 1-of-9 from the field for six points points with four rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 23 minutes on Friday.

He's going to have his bad games, but he should have another month of value. Norris Cole (ankle) doesn't have a timetable and Tyreke Evans (knee) should miss a few more weeks, too. Smith is a short-term solution for fantasy owners needing a point guard.
Nov 14 - 12:41 AM

Ish Smith started Wednesday's game for the decimated Pelicans and had 18 points, two 3-pointers, five rebounds and 10 assists in 39 minutes.

Jrue Holiday was out due to restrictions on playing in back-to-back sets, giving Smith another temporary promotion. He added one steal and fell two assists short of his career-high, paying off richly for anyone who deployed him in DFS leagues. Holiday is due back on Friday, but Smith is making the case for standard-league ownership by averaging 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 10.0 assists and 1.5 steals in his past four games.
Nov 11 - 11:30 PM

Ish Smith is scheduled to start on Wednesday against the Hawks.

It's a back-to-back set, so don't expect Jrue Holiday to play today. Smith is coming off a terrific 17-point, 12-dime game on Tuesday, so expect him to be a popular DFS play.
Nov 11 - 2:49 PM

Ish Smith played 27 minutes and hit 6-of-11 shots and 5-of-5 free throws for 17 points, three boards, 12 assists, a steal and a block off the bench on Tuesday.

It's been a bit all-or-nothing with Smith this season, just like with Isaiah Canaan in Philly. Smith was great tonight, but had scored a total of 15 points in his previous two games. Jrue Holiday played well in his 15 minutes tonight, but it remains to be seen if he'll play in Wednesday's back-to-back yet. If Holiday is out, it's probably a good idea to run with Smith on Wednesday night.
Nov 11 - 12:11 AM

Ish Smith made 3-of-14 from the field for seven points with seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes against the Mavs on Saturday.

If not for the awful shooting, that's a nice line. Smith has always had that kind of an issue, but fantasy owners should kind of view him as a poor man's, short-term Ricky Rubio. He's worth a look if you need a point guard for the next month.
Nov 8 - 2:17 AM

Ish Smith is listed as the starter for Saturday's game vs. the Mavericks.

Jrue Holiday (rest) is sitting this one out, so Smith is in line for some heavy minutes tonight. He handed out a career-high 11 assists in 34 minutes on Friday, so he is worth a long look in daily leagues. With Norris Cole (ankle) and Tyreke Evans (knee) still on the shelf, Smith should have some nice short-term value as well.
Nov 7 - 2:12 PM

Ish Smith handed out a career-high 11 assists in 34 minutes off the bench on Friday, and also added eight points on 4-of-11 shooting with four rebounds and two steals.

This is the Ish Smith special if we've ever seen one and when it's going well he's a late-round asset, which is where he's producing to start the season. If you're in need of a shorter-term solution at the position, he's worth a pickup.
Nov 7 - 1:25 AM

Ish Smith played just 17 minutes and hit 1-of-3 shots for three points, three boards, seven assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on Tuesday.

Toney Douglas played 20 minutes (and played well) and Jrue Holiday played 23 minutes and had 14 points, four assists, two steals and two 3-pointers. Smith looked for a few minutes early in the season, but his run might be over. If you want to drop him for Douglas, or someone else, do it.
Nov 3 - 10:55 PM

Ish Smith's decline accelerated on Saturday as he played only 11 minutes off the bench.

New arrival Toney Douglas played very well in 23 minutes and Jrue Holiday's minute-limit has apparently been raised, as he logged 27 minutes. One of those developments would be damaging for Smith's prospects -- both of them combined obliterate his appeal.
