Ish Smith handed out five assists vs. the Bucks on Monday with five points, seven assists, three boards, one block and one trey in 20 minutes.
Reggie Jackson (thumb, knee) is expected to miss around 6-8 weeks of action, so Smith will be the starter on opening night. He’s no stranger to the role, as he started 50 games for the 76ers last season with averages of 14.7 points, 7.0 assists, 4.3 boards, 1.3 steals, 0.9 treys and 2.6 turnovers, though he did shoot just 40.5 percent from the field and 66.9 percent from the line. He’s a must-own player if you can stomach the low FG percentage and high turnovers. Oct 17 - 9:57 PM

Ish Smith made 6-of-10 from the field for 18 points on Thursday, adding seven rebounds, eight assists, one block and two 3-poitners in 30 minutes.

The Pistons looked a lot better on offense in this game and Smith wasn't even responsible for any of the 19 turnovers tonight. He's likely going to be in the low 40s for field goal percentage, which will be a tough pill to swallow for a guy who won't make many treys. With Reggie Jackson (knee, thumb) likely out for the first quarter of the season, Smith is a decent fill-in guy in the late rounds.
Oct 13 - 11:48 PM

Ish Smith made 1-of-6 from the field for two points with six rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers in 25 minutes on Monday.

He's not going to be out there for scoring, but you can bet he'll be breaking down defenses and kicking out to his teammates as spot-up shooters or roll men. Smith should have some good value in DFS to start the year with Reggie Jackson (knee, thumb) set to miss 6-8 weeks, but his value isn't too great in standard leagues.
Oct 10 - 10:28 PM

Ish Smith is expected to start all of the remaining preseason games.

This is all about getting Smith familiar with the starters. We should see some Ray McCallum and Lorenzo Brown behind Smith, but the Pistons are also still in the market for PG help. Smith is only a last-round flier for fantasy owners missing out on a point guard.
Oct 8 - 7:48 PM

Ish Smith made his first start for the Pistons on Thursday, scoring four points with two rebounds, three assists and one steal in 27 minutes.

It's going to take some time for Smith to establish a rapport with the first unit. Before the Reggie Jackson (knee) injury, coach Stan Van Gundy said he wanted Smith to develop next to Jon Leuer. Now, he's going to have to run plays with Andre Drummond and Tobias Harris.
Oct 6 - 10:35 PM

Ish Smith will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Nets.

"I think [Smith] will play with both units as time goes on, but he’s going to have to primarily play with our starters," Stan Van Gundy said. "That’s who he’s going to be playing with for the foreseeable future, so those are the guys he needs to work with." As a starter last year, Smith compiled averages of 14.6 points, 7.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game on 40.3 percent shooting, so he's someone to consider as a late-round flier if your in need of some point guard stats.
Oct 6 - 2:47 PM

Ish Smith is in line to be the Pistons starting point guard on opening night.

Reggie Jackson (knee) is going to miss the next 6-8 weeks, so Smith could wind up getting 10-20 starts. He's a great fit for the Pistons because he runs a lot of pick-and-roll, which has been the foundation of the Stan Vandy Gundy offense -- Jackson led the NBA in pick-and-roll ball handler possessions last year. Smith should have some low-end value at the end of drafts.
Oct 5 - 6:04 PM

Ish Smith believes that the Pistons have assembled a championship caliber team.

"I always ask people, ‘What wakes you up at night?’ For me, now it’s the pursuit of a championship," Smith said. "That really is what the case is. It’s like, we’ve got a real chance to be champions. And I know that sounds crazy and people think, ‘Naaah. Yeah, you guys got better; not champions.’ But we’ve really got a real legit chance." They aren't realistic contenders, but you gotta love Smith's spirit. As for fantasy hoops, it's going to take an injury to Reggie Jackson for Smith to have any value.
Sep 21 - 12:25 PM

Ish Smith agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal with the Pistons according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

It's a fair price for Smith with the rising salary cap considering he averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 treys in Philly last season. Smith will surely see a reduced role in Detroit as Reggie Jackson's primary backup, so this move will really hurt his fantasy value. According to Pompey, the 76ers didn't even reach out to Smith prior to his agreement with Detroit.
Jul 1 - 9:16 AM

The Pistons have agreed to a three-year deal with Ish Smith.

This comes out of nowhere and the Pistons have their backup point guard. Smith ran Philadelphia's offense with 32.4 minutes per game, averaging 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 treys. He'll have to work on his range for coach Stan Van Gundy and he won't have anywhere close to as much fantasy value in Detroit. Additionally, Philadelphia really needs a point guard now.
Jul 1 - 3:34 AM

Ish Smith filled up the stat sheet in a loss to the Bucks on Sunday, posting 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, three steals, two blocks and a pair of 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

Smith also turned the ball over six times, but his 9-of-17 shooting was a welcome sight for the 40-percent career shooter. Philly needs to win at least one of their final two games to avoid the NBA's worst record since 1972-73, and they have no incentive to tank since they're already guaranteed the league's worst record this season.

Apr 10 - 8:01 PM

Ish Smith made 2-of-9 from the field for four points during a 100-91 loss to the Hornets on Friday, adding seven rebounds, five assists and four turnovers.

He has been better lately, but Smith did not have it tonight. He'll get another sub-par matchup against the Pacers on Saturday. He's worse on the road and he's made just 36.0 percent from the field on no rest this season, so be careful about using him if you care about your field goal percentage.
Apr 1 - 9:32 PM

Ish Smith hit just 6-of-17 shots and three 3-pointers for 15 points, three rebounds and six assists in 41 minutes on Tuesday.

As far as bad games go, this is about as 'Ish' as it gets. He did have three blocks, and if you ignore the poor shooting, it was still a decent night for one of this season's best waiver-wire pickups. Isaiah Canaan also started (at shooting guard), but hit just 3-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers in another blowout loss. Both players are worth owning as Sixers' players prepare for their annual Caribbean vacations while the rest of the league prepares for the playoffs.
Mar 29 - 9:28 PM

The Sixers offered Ish Smith, Nik Stauskas and a protected first-round pick in exchange for Dennis Schroder at the NBA trade deadline, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News.

Despite the way he's played while earning Brett Brown's stamp of approval, Smith's future with the Sixers is (again) up in the air with Jerry Colangelo now calling the shots. The report cites sources stating Philadelphia has interest in drafting Providence's Kris Dunn, which shouldn't really come as a surprise with the club looking for a long-term answer at point guard. Although there are concerns about his efficiency from the field, Smith should have no problem fielding several free agent offers this summer. As for the Sixers, trying to predict their plans is like trying to guess how many jellybeans are in the jar. Nobody knows.

Ish Smith made 9-of-14 shots to finish Sunday's 117-105 loss to the Warriors with 20 points, 10 assists, three rebounds and three assists.

Smith is a steady source of assists and steals, and his 3.9 rebounds per game aren't bad for a guard, but his fantasy value fluctuates based on his scoring. He's shooting just 40.6 percent this season but is a combined 17-of-28 in Philly's past two games (60.7 percent), so owners might as well deploy him until he cools off.
