Ish Smith led Detroit with 22 points and nine assists on Wednesday, making 8-of-13 FGs and 6-of-7 FTs with four rebounds and two steals.
Smith also had just one turnover in 33 minutes and he helped limit the Hawks to 42.7% shooting tonight, which has been a weak spot for the Pistons lately. This was Smith's best performance since Feb. 3 and he heads into the break on a high note, even if this came against a decimated Hawks team playing without Dennis Schroder. If you're holding him, just remember that Reggie Jackson (ankle) could be back in by March. Feb 14 - 10:02 PM

Date:

Ish Smith's hot streak came to an end on Sunday, as he went just 1-of-4 from the field on his way to two points, seven assists and five turnovers across 29 minutes.

Smith really struggled in this one, at one point getting benched in favor of Jameer Nelson with the game on the line, but he's also prone to the occasional dud. We'd expect a bit of a bounce-back performance on Monday against the Pelicans.
Feb 11 - 6:58 PM

Ish Smith scored 15 points with four assists, two rebounds, two steals and one triple in 31 minutes vs. the Clippers on Friday.

Reggie Jackson (ankle) is expected to return "likely sometime in early March," a little later than originally thought. Smith's owners can continue deploying him in the meantime, but his fantasy value does have an expiration date and that will likely be during the fantasy playoffs.
Feb 9 - 10:56 PM

Ish Smith scored a season-high 25 points with four rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 40 minutes against the Heat on Saturday.

He basically didn't have a backup with Langston Galloway having to step up behind him. Smith is probably going to lose some chances to score with Blake Griffin around, and maybe Reggie Jackson (ankle) can return after the break. He should have 2-3 more weeks of value, though.
Feb 3 - 10:27 PM

Ish Smith scored 12 points with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and no turnovers in 29 minutes against the Grizzlies on Thursday.

Those numbers are slightly down from what he did in January, averaging 12.4 points 5.3 dimes and 0.3 treys. Smith will be losing some ball-handling responsibility and Reggie Jackson should be able to make it back this month. If you want to make a proactive cut for a red-hot add and don't care too much about the next two weeks, it's not the worst idea to move on from Ish.
Feb 1 - 10:08 PM

Ish Smith was back in the starting five on Sunday, finishing with seven points on 3-of-9 shooting, five assists, four rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.

Stan Van Gundy mixed things up tonight, promoting Smith while bumping Dwight Buycks ahead of Langston Galloway in the PG rotation. Smith has been unimpressive even with the starting job this season, and he made some poor decisions late in this 121-104 road loss. Reggie Jackson (ankle) could be cleared for basketball activities in a few weeks, so there's no real long-term upside here.
Jan 28 - 10:15 PM

Ish Smith will replace Langston Galloway in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Cavs.

Galloway did a whole lot of nothing as a starter, so Smith should be able to retain the starting spot moving forward. He was still earning minutes in the 30s while coming off the bench, so Smith getting the starter designation doesn't really alter his fantasy outlook.
Jan 28 - 4:43 PM

Ish Smith scored 15 points with three rebounds, nine assists and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes against the Thunder on Saturday.

He almost has to start next time because Langston Galloway is not the answer. Either way, Smith is still getting around 30 minutes even in the second unit and his stats haven't suffered. Maybe his lack of size is a factor against guys like Russell Westbrook Keep rolling him out there. They get the Cavs on Sunday.
Jan 27 - 7:53 PM

Ish Smith shifted to the Pistons' bench on Wednesday, where he shot 6-of-17 to finish with 14 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals and one 3-pointer.

Smith logged 33 minutes tonight, which is ironically more than he's averaged as a starter (29.8) in place of Reggie Jackson. It's unclear whether Langston Galloway will stick in the starting PG role, but either way Smith's owners should be satisfied with his role tonight. Let's see how the minutes are divvied up vs. Russell Westbrook and the Thunder on Saturday.
Jan 25 - 12:43 AM

Ish Smith will come off the bench on Wednesday against the Jazz.

This is a surprise with the Pistons shaking things up due to their five-game losing streak. Smith may have a tougher time getting to 30 minutes off the bench, but he could wind up closing if this game is close.
Jan 24 - 6:59 PM

Ish Smith posted 15 points and seven assists over 35 minutes in Friday's 122-112 loss against the Wizards.

Smith bounced back nicely with a solid 7-of-11 shooting night after turning in an ugly 1-of-12 performance on Wednesday in Toronto. There's something about the home cooking that he likes, as Smith is 39-of-73 (53.4 percent) from the floor over his past six home contests, and 23-of-62 (37.1 percent) from the field across his past six on the road. The good news for Smith's fantasy owners and DFS players is that this was the first game of a four-game homestand through Jan. 27, and nine of his next 10 are at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, too.
Jan 19 - 11:32 PM

Ish Smith had five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 31 minutes on Wednesday, but he also scored three points on 1-of-12 shooting.

Awful shooting nights like this can be shrugged off in most points-based leagues, but it's poison for roto owners and can tank the category in weekly head-to-head matchups. He's been worth owning since Reggie Jackson (ankle) went down, so owners should shrug it off. If you're looking for solace, consider that Chris Bosh once shot 1-of-18 in a game for the Heat.
Jan 17 - 11:55 PM

Ish Smith hit 8-of-14 shots and a 3-pointer for 19 points, three rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and a block in 35 minutes on Monday.

This might have been Smith's best game of the season and if it wasn't, it was his first double-double. Smith was projected to play very well in the absence of Reggie Jackson, but he's been a little bit disappointing. Today's game may be just the thing he needs to get going, while Jackson still isn't close to returning from his ankle injury.
Jan 15 - 3:05 PM

Ish Smith scored 11 points with two assists, two steals and one block in a 114-78 loss to the 76ers on Friday.

Not much to takeaway here as the Pistons fell behind 32-15 after the first quarter and got rocked again in the second 30-17. Smith will continue to start and should be owned in standard leagues despite some FG% concerns.
Jan 5 - 9:25 PM

Ish Smith posted six points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 31 minutes during Wednesday's loss in Miami.

Detroit's default starting PG while Reggie Jackson (ankle) is out, Smith continues to log solid minutes ahead of backup Dwight Buycks. He shot just 3-of-10 from the field tonight, but over the past six games he's averaging a solid 13.2 points (48.6% FGs, 100.0% FTs), 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 0.7 steals. You could do worse for a low-end PG.
