Ish Smith believes that the Pistons have assembled a championship caliber team.
"I always ask people, ‘What wakes you up at night?’ For me, now it’s the pursuit of a championship," Smith said. "That really is what the case is. It’s like, we’ve got a real chance to be champions. And I know that sounds crazy and people think, ‘Naaah. Yeah, you guys got better; not champions.’ But we’ve really got a real legit chance." They aren't realistic contenders, but you gotta love Smith's spirit. As for fantasy hoops, it's going to take an injury to Reggie Jackson for Smith to have any value. Sep 21 - 12:25 PM

Ish Smith agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal with the Pistons according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

It's a fair price for Smith with the rising salary cap considering he averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 treys in Philly last season. Smith will surely see a reduced role in Detroit as Reggie Jackson's primary backup, so this move will really hurt his fantasy value. According to Pompey, the 76ers didn't even reach out to Smith prior to his agreement with Detroit.

The Pistons have agreed to a three-year deal with Ish Smith.

This comes out of nowhere and the Pistons have their backup point guard. Smith ran Philadelphia's offense with 32.4 minutes per game, averaging 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 treys. He'll have to work on his range for coach Stan Van Gundy and he won't have anywhere close to as much fantasy value in Detroit. Additionally, Philadelphia really needs a point guard now.
Jul 1 - 3:34 AM

Ish Smith filled up the stat sheet in a loss to the Bucks on Sunday, posting 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, three steals, two blocks and a pair of 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

Smith also turned the ball over six times, but his 9-of-17 shooting was a welcome sight for the 40-percent career shooter. Philly needs to win at least one of their final two games to avoid the NBA's worst record since 1972-73, and they have no incentive to tank since they're already guaranteed the league's worst record this season.

Ish Smith made 2-of-9 from the field for four points during a 100-91 loss to the Hornets on Friday, adding seven rebounds, five assists and four turnovers.

He has been better lately, but Smith did not have it tonight. He'll get another sub-par matchup against the Pacers on Saturday. He's worse on the road and he's made just 36.0 percent from the field on no rest this season, so be careful about using him if you care about your field goal percentage.
Apr 1 - 9:32 PM

Ish Smith hit just 6-of-17 shots and three 3-pointers for 15 points, three rebounds and six assists in 41 minutes on Tuesday.

As far as bad games go, this is about as 'Ish' as it gets. He did have three blocks, and if you ignore the poor shooting, it was still a decent night for one of this season's best waiver-wire pickups. Isaiah Canaan also started (at shooting guard), but hit just 3-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers in another blowout loss. Both players are worth owning as Sixers' players prepare for their annual Caribbean vacations while the rest of the league prepares for the playoffs.
Mar 29 - 9:28 PM

The Sixers offered Ish Smith, Nik Stauskas and a protected first-round pick in exchange for Dennis Schroder at the NBA trade deadline, sources told the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News.

Despite the way he's played while earning Brett Brown's stamp of approval, Smith's future with the Sixers is (again) up in the air with Jerry Colangelo now calling the shots. The report cites sources stating Philadelphia has interest in drafting Providence's Kris Dunn, which shouldn't really come as a surprise with the club looking for a long-term answer at point guard. Although there are concerns about his efficiency from the field, Smith should have no problem fielding several free agent offers this summer. As for the Sixers, trying to predict their plans is like trying to guess how many jellybeans are in the jar. Nobody knows.

Ish Smith made 9-of-14 shots to finish Sunday's 117-105 loss to the Warriors with 20 points, 10 assists, three rebounds and three assists.

Smith is a steady source of assists and steals, and his 3.9 rebounds per game aren't bad for a guard, but his fantasy value fluctuates based on his scoring. He's shooting just 40.6 percent this season but is a combined 17-of-28 in Philly's past two games (60.7 percent), so owners might as well deploy him until he cools off.
Mar 27 - 10:39 PM

Brett Brown is hopeful that the 76ers will be able to keep Ish Smith this summer when he becomes a free agent.

"Listen, I would be thrilled to have Ish back," Brown said. "He's done everything and then some. As we all know, it's a volatile world that we live in. There are draft picks. There are trades. There's all the stuff that we know. But he's done everything that I have asked of him and then some. And I'm just personally fond of him." Smith had his best game in a while on Saturday with 17 points, nine assists, 14 boards, one steal and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes, and he will look to keep that momentum going vs. the Warriors on Sunday.
Mar 27 - 9:17 AM

Ish Smith grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds during a 108-105 loss to the Blazers on Saturday, adding 17 points, nine assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.

He even made 8-of-14 from the field for a huge stat line. The 76ers went small a lot and that would really help Smith because they can run to allow Smith to get better shots. There should be a lot of running on Sunday against the Warriors, so he'll be an attractive DFS play.
Mar 27 - 1:05 AM

Ish Smith made 1-of-9 from the field for five points with seven rebounds, eight assists, one block and one 3-pointer against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

His shot selection was absolutely terrible in this game and he really needs to cut down on mid-range shots. Smith does have a couple good matchups coming up and he is doing some other non-scoring stuff on the stat sheet, but it's really tough to use him with five dreadful shooting games in a row, making just 27.8 percent from the field in that span.
Mar 23 - 11:46 PM

Ish Smith made 2-of-15 from the field for four points with nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and one turnover against the Pacers on Monday.

It looked like he really solved his shooting percentage woes, but they are back and worse than ever. In his last four games, he's made just 30.2 percent from the field with averages of 11.0 points, 4.5 boards, 6.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.5 turnovers. At least he's filling it up on the other areas.
Mar 21 - 10:38 PM

Ish Smith dished out eight assists in 35 minutes vs. the Celtics on Sunday, but he shot just 5-of-14 from the field to finish the Sixers' home loss with 14 points.

The Celtics play at the league's third-fastest pace, but they also boast the league's fifth-best defensive efficiency rating (100.7 points allowed per 100 possessions). Opposing point guards are averaging a league-low 7.2 assists per game vs. that stifling defense, so Smith's owners should be pleased with his eight dimes. Until his percentages improve, however, Smith is little more than a late-round value (8-cat and 9-cat).
Mar 20 - 9:29 PM

Ish Smith scored 20 points in a loss to the Wizards on Thursday with two rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two 3-pointers.

Smith started out nicely in this game and at least he only turned it over one time. Smith has played better these days and his shot selection has been vastly improved. Expect him to be a top-75 player.
Mar 17 - 10:05 PM

Ish Smith kept it going on Tuesday, hitting 6-of-13 shots and two 3-pointers for 18 points, three rebounds and six assists in 30 minutes.

Smith is cruising right now, averaging 17.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.8 3-pointers over his last five games. Start him with confidence.
