Ish Smith (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the 76ers.
Smith isn't a lock to make the opening-night roster in Washington, and sitting out preseason games will only further hurt his chances. Even if he does make the squad, he'll remain a negligible option in all leagues while the Wizards are healthy. Oct 6 - 5:48 PM

Ish Smith has been limited by an ankle injury at training camp.

He is questionable to play in Tuesday's exhibition vs. the 76ers. This sounds like a minor ailment and Smith hasn't had ankle problems since joining the NBA, but this narrows his already-thin odds of making the regular-season roster.
Oct 5 - 3:36 PM

Ish Smith has signed a training camp deal with the Wizards.

Smith's deal with Washington is non-guaranteed, so he is no lock to make the Wizards final roster. The 27-year-old's best-case scenario is hooking on as bench depth behind John Wall, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues for the time being.
Sep 8 - 12:32 PM

Ish Smith (groin) will not play against the Heat on Wednesday.

There will be more inactives coming here because the Heat haven't announced their guys they'll sit. JaKarr Sampson will start and is actually worth a look because he looked good in his last start.
Apr 15 - 7:13 PM

Ish Smith (groin) is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Heat.

Smith played 34 minutes against the Bucks on Monday and contributed four points, nine assists and three steals, but he didn't appear to be limited in any way. Regardless, this is the 76ers we are talking about, and they don't have any incentive to play at full strength tonight. If Smith sits, JaKarr Samspon will have to run the show, but he is only worth a look in deeper leagues.
Apr 15 - 11:23 AM

Ish Smith played 34 minutes in his return to the lineup on Monday against the Bucks with four points, nine assists, three steals and five turnovers.

After missing Saturday due to a groin injury, he made 2-of-7 from the field and was torched on the defensive end. Smith should be able to improve on these numbers in the season finale against the Heat on Wednesday.
Apr 14 - 12:24 AM

Ish Smith (groin) will start against the Bucks on Monday night.

He did not play on Saturday and the 76ers had to play without any point guards. Some credit has to go to JaKarr Sampson for playing well here, but he'll move back to the bench. Smith is worth starting in all leagues as long as you're fine with his sub-par shooting.
Apr 13 - 5:25 PM

Ish Smith (groin) said that he expects to play on Monday vs. the Bucks, though he is officially listed as questionable.

"I ain’t sitting down," Smith said. "I’m going to try to [play]." The 76ers held Smith out of Saturday's game vs. the Bulls, but it appears that his groin has made progress. Smith is only the true point guard left on the active roster, and he will immediately reclaim his starting spot from JaKarr Sampson if he is cleared to play. Expect an update after shootaround on Monday.
Apr 12 - 9:30 AM

Ish Smith (groin) is not going to play against the Bulls on Saturday.

Oh boy. The 76ers are now likely going to start JaKarr Sampson at point guard with Hollis Thompson backing him up. Sampson has an assist:turnover ratio below 1.0 and Hollis Thompson has 1.2 assists per game this season. There's going to be some sloppy offense for the 76ers tonight. Sampson is only worth a look if you're really desperate.
Apr 11 - 6:38 PM

Ish Smith (groin) is at 70 percent and is expected to play against the Bulls on Saturday.

"The story should be we are the Red Cross,"coach Brett Brown said about all the injured players. Smith really struggled on Wednesday with just three points and maybe the injury was a factor. If for some reason he can't play, JaKarr Sampson would likely start. Maybe Glenn Robinson III gets some minutes at the point. Basically, Philly needs Smith to play badly.
Apr 11 - 2:58 PM

Ish Smith hit just 1-of-9 shots for three points, six assists and a steal in Wednesday's loss.

Smith had been on cruise control but ran into a road block with the Wizards tonight. Look for him to bounce back on Saturday against the Bulls.
Apr 8 - 10:06 PM

Ish Smith had 17 points, one rebound, seven assists and two steals in 31 minutes as the Sixers fell in New York on Sunday.

Isaiah Canaan (ankle) was in a walking boot this weekend and there's no clear date for his return, leaving Smith with uncontested minutes as Philly's lead guard. Over the past five games he's averaging 16.6 points, 0.8 threes, 4.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.4 steals, easily enough for value in leagues with 10 or more teams.
Apr 5 - 10:16 PM

Ish Smith made 6-of-20 from the field for 15 points against the Hornets on Saturday during a 92-91 loss, adding nine rebounds, five assists, one block and one 3-pointer.

Yep, that's an Ish-ish line right there. Smith is likely going to see minutes in the mid 30s going forward because Isaiah Canaan (foot) was in a walking boot. If you're fine with his sub-par shooting, Smith is a must-own player.
Apr 4 - 10:01 PM

Ish Smith started again and hit 11-of-17 shots and a 3-pointer for 23 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in Wednesday's loss to the Wizards.

Smith has it rolling right now and Nerlens Noel is thriving with him running the point. Isaiah Canaan has managed to stay quite relevant off the bench, and had 18 points, six assists and four 3-pointers. In fact, Canaan was the better play tonight, and has scored 18 in two straight while totaling seven 3-pointers, but Smith is the most trustworthy point guard in Philly right now. Especially after Canaan suffered a sprained ankle and didn't return to the game.
Apr 1 - 10:39 PM

Nerlens Noel called Ish Smith the first true point guard he's ever played with.

In what can also be construed as a shot at former teammate Michael Carter-Williams, Noel said, "I love that kid. He just finds me whenever I’m open and honestly, he’s the first true point-guard I’ve ever really played with." Smith has taken the Sixers' starting point guard job and ran with it with averages of 13.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.0 three-pointers over his last five games. Smith has been averaging 30.4 minutes per game over that span and is currently a must-start player in all fantasy leagues.
