Donald Sloan scored 17 points against the Kings on Friday with four rebounds, one assist and four 3-pointers.
This has been too annoying to try and figure out who is the better player. Shane Larkin had a bad game with three points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes. Most owners should just ignore both guys. Feb 6 - 12:12 AM

Donald Sloan started at point guard again and had 11 points, three boards, seven assists and a steal on 4-of-12 shooting in 32 minutes on Wednesday.

Shane Larkin played just 16 minutes and hit 1-of-4 shots, so don't count Sloan out just yet. Sloan had scored a total of seven points with seven assists in his previous two games, while Larkin appeared to be coming on. But Sloan was the guy tonight, despite the poor shooting. This is a full timeshare situation and neither player is very exciting to own right now. But as long as Sloan is starting, he has the best chance for success.
Feb 3 - 11:15 PM

Donald Sloan scored two points with three rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes on Saturday against the Pelicans.

He's just not good and the Nets are getting nothing out of their point guards. Sloan can be dropped because his upside is low anyway.
Jan 30 - 10:47 PM

Donald Sloan started and hit 4-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 10 points and two assists in 23 minutes on Tuesday.

Shane Larkin played 25 minutes but hit just 1-of-5 shots to finish with seven points, six assists and two steals. The timeshare is on, but Sloan has been better than Larkin on most nights.
Jan 27 - 12:12 AM

Donald Sloan had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on Sunday, logging 27 minutes in a surprising home win vs. the Thunder.

Sloan only turned the ball over once in a challenging matchup vs. Russell Westbrook, and his owners should be satisfied with this performance. He's effectively splitting minutes with backup Shane Larkin, and Sloan hasn't been a plus-contributor in 9-cat leagues in his seven starts this season. If you own him, keep a close eye on the waiver wire for free agents with greater upside.
Jan 24 - 10:21 PM

Donald Sloan scored two points against the Jazz on Friday with four rebounds, six assists and one turnover in 25 minutes.

He gets a pass for this one and it's not like Shane Larkin in gaining ground on him. Expect Sloan to have a better game on Sunday against Russell Westbrook. Sloan is more of a No. 3 point guard in fantasy, but isn't a must own because of his lower upside.
Jan 22 - 11:30 PM

Donald Sloan had 12 points, nine assists and one steal in 25 minutes as the Nets fell to the visiting Cavaliers on Wednesday.

He once again split minutes with backup PG Shane Larkin (23 minutes) but at least he doesn't seem to be in danger of losing the starting job. The fifth-year guard is averaging 11.0 points, 0.7 triples, 5.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists in his past three games, but be prepared for poor shooting and a near-total lack of defensive stats.
Jan 20 - 11:16 PM

Donald Sloan played 34 minutes against the Raptors on Monday with 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists and one 3-pointer.

The Nets actually went two a two-PG lineup for this game, but it probably won't continue. Sloan continues to outplay Shane Larkin and he logged more minutes than Larkin for the third consecutive game. Sloan is starting to pull away from Larkin and is worth a look if you need a point guard.
Jan 18 - 9:48 PM

Donald Sloan made 1-of-5 from the field for four points against the Hawks on Saturday with four rebounds and a season-high 12 assists.

Remember when the 76ers had the worst point guards in the NBA? Well, now it's clearly the Nets as they really can't get their footing at the one. Sloan is clearly outplaying Shane Larkin, so he should be able to lock down minutes in the upper 20s as long as the Nets aren't blown out. They will be blown out a lot, though.
Jan 16 - 9:49 PM

Donald Sloan flirted with a triple-double against the Blazers on Friday during a 116-104 loss with 15 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

Shane Larkin only logged 16 minutes and this was the first game all season Sloan picked up the lion's share of the point guard minutes. He has played much better than Larkin in his last five games and is worth a look if you need a point guard. If you have to drop something you're going to miss and aren't in dire straits for a PG, you might want to wait one more.
Jan 15 - 11:15 PM

Donald Sloan chipped in eight points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes of action vs. the Knicks.

Sloan earned another start alongside Wayne Ellington (10 points in 26 minutes), with Shane Larkin backing up the point guard spot, and Brooklyn's PGs continue to split minutes no matter who is starting. Sloan lacks upside and should be unowned in the vast majority of leagues.
Jan 13 - 11:46 PM

Donald Sloan made his first start of the season during a 106-79 loss to the Spurs on Monday, scoring two points with five assists, one block and one turnover in 24 minutes.

Getting your first start of the season against the Spurs isn't fair for Sloan, but he's simply not very good. He will probably get another chance to start on Wednesday against the Knicks, but he's going to need another solid game like he had on Saturday in order to be a pickup in fantasy leagues.
Jan 11 - 10:05 PM

Donald Sloan and Wayne Ellington will start against the Spurs on Monday in place of Shane Larkin and Markel Brown.

Sloan and Ellington started in the second half on Saturday, so the Nets will stick with it. Sloan had a nice 15-point, 10 dime game and could get more minutes than Larkin. He's worth a look in 14-teams leagues right now and maybe a big game puts him on the map in standard leagues.
Jan 11 - 5:52 PM

Donald Sloan double-doubled in Saturday's loss to the Pistons, scoring 15 points with 10 assists, two boards and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes.

Shane Larkin was pretty poor once again, and Sloan even started the second half. There's no word on whether or not Sloan will win the starting job, but it does seem like this could be potentially turn into a timeshare at the one. For now, owners in most leagues can use a wait-and-see approach here.
Jan 10 - 10:00 AM

Donald Sloan started the second half of Saturday's game vs. the Pistons in place of Shane Larkin.

The Nets haven't gotten a lot of production from Larkin as the starting point guard, so this confirms that this could turn into a position battle. Sloan was arguably the best player on the Nets in the first half other than Brook Lopez, but he is only worth a speculative add in deeper leagues for now.
