Jimmer Fredette played for the first time in four games on Saturday, going scoreless with one rebound, one assist and one steal in eight minutes.
He returned to the bench rotation after Eric Gordon separated his shoulder, which moved Austin Rivers into the starting SG spot. Gordon is likely to miss significant time and Rivers is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues, but we'll need to see more from Fredette to put him on the radar. Nov 23 - 11:56 AM

Jimmer Fredette is looking to bounce back after he missed all six of his shots in his Pelicans debut.

'It’s always tough when you don’t shoot the ball well,'' Fredette said. ''But when you play long enough, it’s going to happen at some point. You never like it as a shooter. But the good thing about it is that I got good shots." The Jimmer is not a fantasy option in any format.
Oct 30 - 6:18 PM

Jimmer Fredette scored two points in 18 minutes during Tuesday's victory, missing all six of his field goals with zero rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Fredette shared the court with Austin Rivers, a pairing which may not last long if Jimmer can't succeed in a SG role since coach Monty Williams has been understandably hesitant to use him as a ball-handler. There's no reliable fantasy value to be found in Jimmer.
Oct 28 - 11:00 PM

Pelicans coach Monty Williams wants Jimmer Fredette to focus on scoring with the second unit, with Tyreke Evans or Austin Rivers handling the ball.

"You are trying to take advantage of Jimmer’s ability to score," Williams said. "When he plays point, they pressure him full court, so you’re getting into your offense later than you want to." He doesn't seem particularly keen on Rivers as a ball-handler either, so Tyreke Evans may serve double-duty as a starting PF and backup PG.
Oct 21 - 5:50 PM

Jimmer Fredette hit 5-of-8 shots and three more 3-pointers for 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 19 minutes off the Pelicans bench.

He did most of his damage late in the game, but has now scored between 10 and 17 points in each of his four preseason games, and has hit 10 3-pointers along the way. It remains to be seen how relevant he'll be for the Pelicans once the games start counting, but so far, so good.
Oct 15 - 12:48 AM

Jimmer Fredette hit 5-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers for 13 points, two rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

He was 6-of-9 with three 3-pointers and 17 points on Saturday, and while we're not ready to tell you to draft him, it does appear he has new life in New Orleans. Keep a close eye him going forward, and keep in mind that Tyreke Evans is out with a hamstring injury.
Oct 8 - 11:14 PM

Jimmer Fredette hit 6-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 17 points, three assists and two steals in Saturday's preseason win over the Heat.

Jimmer spent most of his time running the point for the second unit and looked good. However, we'll have to see him continue to put up these kinds of numbers before we get too excited about his fantasy prospects.
Oct 4 - 9:58 PM

Jimmer Fredette said he spent a lot of time "trying to get to know all the defensive schemes" with coach Monty Williams.

''That’s what we worked on this morning, trying to get into terminologies and also know just what coach wants," Fredette said. It's no secret that Fredette's biggest weakness is on defense and that will likely keep him from minutes. Russ Smith led Las Vegas Summer League in assists per game and probably has the inside track for the backup point guard minutes. Fredette can be ignored in most leagues even though Tyreke Evans (hamstring) is hurt.
Sep 30 - 9:32 PM

Jimmer Fredette says the New Orleans Pelicans have told him that his role with the team will be to just be himself and score.

Fredette has had a difficult time being his college self during his three NBA seasons as he's only averaged 6.9 points, 1.0 3-pointers, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 179 career games. While he could help fantasy owners in deep fantasy leagues in the 3-pointer category, The Jimmer is better left undrafted in standard leagues.
Sep 11 - 1:18 PM

Jimmer Fredette is excited to get a fresh start in New Orleans, and has been working hard this offseason to improve his defense.

"I've worked on a lot of different things," Fredette said. "The pick-and-roll game is real big in the NBA, so I've worked on that both offensively and defensively. I think being in Chicago helped me out on defensive schemes being able to get into the right positioning. I think that's improved my game." Fredette also added that Pelicans management wants him to "score the basketball," and they brought him in to be a 3-point threat off the bench. However, Fredette's career averages are unimpressive to say the least, and with a very crowded backcourt it would be shocking to see Fredette suddenly emerge into fantasy relevance during his fourth NBA season. He's not a target in standard leagues.
Sep 8 - 6:54 PM

Pelicans sign G Jimmer Fredette.

He was very close to playing overseas, but the Pelicans will use him as an end-of-the-bench combo guard. Rookie Russ Smith looked phenomenal in summer league and he may have the inside track as the backup point guard behind Jrue Holiday. Fredette is off the radar in most leagues.
Jul 24 - 7:25 PM

Jimmer Fredette has reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Pelicans for the veteran's minimum.

Jimmer is a career 40.1 percent shooter from beyond the arc, however, he has never averaged more than 7.6 points in a season. As the current roster stands, Jimmer will be competing for minutes with the likes of Austin Rivers, Russ Smith, and John Salmons, and it doesn't seem like there's enough minutes to go around for Jimmer to be a reliable contributor. His college career was impressive, but that was back in 2011, and he has still yet to emerge as a relevant fantasy option in the NBA.

Jul 18 - 9:03 AM

Greek team Panathinaikos is targeting Jimmer Fredette this summer.

Those on Jimmer Time may have to adjust their clocks. Fredette hasn't been able to do much in his time in the NBA because his coaches are apprehensive about putting him out on the court. An NBA team probably won't offer him as much money as a foreign team would.
Jun 20 - 10:58 AM

Jimmer Fredette scored 17 points off the bench with D.J. Augustin (personal) out on Monday, hitting 7-of-14 shots (including a three) with three rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.

With the Bulls still maintaining a chance at the No. 3 seed it seems logical that Augustin could play on Wednesday, but if he doesn't then Jimmer will be worth a look for scoring and threes.
Apr 14 - 11:04 PM

Jimmer Fredette scored two points in three minutes off the Bulls' bench on Sunday.

He was just acquired and coach Tom Thibodeau probably wants to see him in a few practices before really plugging him into the rotation, especially given Fredette's reputation as a poor defender. He projects as a perimeter shooter with a spot-minute role off the bench.
