Alec Burks scored 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting (2-of-4 3PTs, 7-of-8 FTs) with three rebounds and four assists in Monday's win.
Burks is good for one of these explosions every so often but he's a borderline late-round value at best when it's all said and done. Dec 23 - 1:35 AM

Alec Burks briefly left Saturday's game with a shoulder injury, but returned moments later to finish with 11 points, four boards and one assist in 30 minutes.

He shot just 3-of-11 from the field, so his shoulder may have been bothering him a little bit. We will monitor Burks' status closely, but it doesn't look like he will be in danger of missing any time. We will pass along any updates as needed.
Dec 20 - 10:50 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) returned to action earlier than some expected in Monday's loss to the Kings, scoring 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting (6-of-9 FTs) with four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes.

Burks has shown issues with versatility that hold his value down in standard leagues, but he's a better low-end asset in 12-team leagues than a lot of borderline guys because he may continue to improve.
Dec 9 - 1:59 AM

Alec Burks (shoulder) will start on Monday night against the Kings.

So much for the surgery during the season. Burks is going to need surgery eventually and it should be interesting to see how he reacts to being hurt. He loves to attack the basket, which is why he was hurt in the first place. We'll let you know how he does tonight as a fringe player to own in standard leagues.
Dec 8 - 8:38 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) went through Monday shootaround and is questionable to play against the Kings.

It is so far, so good for Burks. He might not play tonight because there were some reports he might need to miss significant time, but he should make it back at some point this week. The Jazz do get four games this week, but Burks wasn't playing well enough to be owned in standard leagues before his injury. If he's out, Rodney Hood would start again.
Dec 8 - 3:31 PM

Alec Burks may still need offseason surgery on his shoulder, but is expected to be able to play through the issue this season.

This should be viewed as good news, and he could potentially return as early as Monday. Burks is reported to be pain-free, and it doesn't sound like he will be in danger of missing any games down the road. He is worth a look in standard leagues, but is by no means a must-own player. His impending return will send rookie Rodney Hood back to the bench.
Dec 7 - 9:03 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) returned to practice on Sunday and intends to play this week.

"I'm thankful that the diagnosis came out positive," Burks said. This is great news after there were some reports that he would need some surgery. Burks doesn't have anything structurally wrong, but he's very doubtful for Monday and Tuesday Rodney Hood will likely start until at least Friday.
Dec 7 - 3:22 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) will not need surgery and he could return in two weeks.

He saw some specialists and apparently the remedy to his shoulder pain is just going to be rehab. Burks aggravated his shoulder injury after a hard foul from Arron Afflalo and has already missed two games. Rodney Hood will get a handful of starts and should have value in 14- and 16-team leagues. Burks is not a terrific player to stash.
Dec 5 - 8:39 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) has seen multiple doctors and surgery is a real possibility.

Uh oh. He's missed the last two games and it sounds like he has almost no chance to play in the next week or so. With Burks out, Rodney Hood should start for the foreseeable future while Joe Ingles gets some run. Feel free to cut Burks in most leagues.
Dec 5 - 6:36 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Magic.

Rodney Hood got the start on Wednesday when Burks was out, and he put up 10 points, two rebounds, two 3-pointers, an assist, and a steal over 26.5 minutes of action. Those numbers are serviceable for deep league owners, but on such a busy Friday night, owners in standard leagues can probably do better.
Dec 5 - 1:48 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against Toronto and Friday's game vs. the Magic.

This is a tough blow for him, as he was really starting to heat up after scoring 22 points against Denver Monday. The Jazz have said that Burks will have more testing done on his shoulder, and we should have another update on his timetable soon. It is unclear who will start in his absence, but Dante Exum and Rodney hood figure to be the biggest beneficiaries of this news.
Dec 3 - 1:37 PM

Alec Burks (shoulder) is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Raptors.

He is dealing with some inflammation in his shoulder after he injured it in Monday's game against the Nuggets. He ended up finishing the game and while it didn't appear to limit him, he has a real chance to sit out on Wednesday. Owners will want to check back for an update before the game, and if Burks can't play, Dante Exum, Rodney Hood, and Gordon Hayward will all get some extra minutes on the wing.
Dec 3 - 11:17 AM

Alec Burks scored 22 points against the Nuggets on Monday with eight rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in 37 minutes.

He was a big part of the offense and was his aggressive self. Burks was in a brutal slump a couple weekends ago, making 4-of-22 from the field in his games from Nov. 22 and 24. He's starting to come around, but the dip in treys and steals is really hurting his fantasy value. He's not a must-own player.
Dec 1 - 11:37 PM

Alec Burks played 28 minutes against the Clippers on Saturday with 12 points, two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

He had a shoulder injury and returned just a few minutes after a trip to the locker room. Burks attacks the basket a lot, so he's bound to take on a few injuries from taking so much contact. He's a questionable player to own in standard leagues.
Nov 29 - 11:52 PM

Alec Burks has returned to action after a short trip to the locker room due to a shoulder injury on Saturday.

He left the game during the first quarter with what appeared to be a shoulder injury, but came back out of the locker room after a few minutes and is continuing to play. We will let you know how he does after the game and owners can breathe easy after this minor scare.
