Alec Burks thrived in 15 minutes off the bench vs. Denver, scoring 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting with two 3-pointers, one rebound and one steal.
Burks was impressive this preseason and his path to reliable minutes is clearer now that Dante Exum (shoulder) could be done for the season. That said, the six-year veteran hasn't appeared in more than 42 games since 2013-14, which is reason enough to leave him on the wire. Oct 19 - 2:09 AM

Alec Burks lit it up in 19 minutes against the Suns on Friday, scoring 19 points with six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

Injuries have been a thorn in the side of the former Colorado Buffalo, especially in the past three seasons. However, there were some glory days with Burks running point in what was called a triple-wing lineup a few years ago, and Burks is still just 26 years old. With Dante Exum (shoulder) likely missing time, Burks could be worth a look in deep leagues. Although, we do have to mention one more time he's been quite a fantasy tease.
Oct 7 - 1:15 AM

Alec Burks (knee) played well in 23 minutes on Wednesday, making 5-of-7 shots to finish with 16 points, three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, two assists and one block.

Welcome back, Alec. He was quiet in Monday's exhibition but found a groove vs. Maccabi tonight -- the quality of the competition should be noted, but the key is that Burks looked healthy. He's missed an average of 48.7 games due to injuries over the past three seasons, but this is a big step in the right direction. We'll keep a close eye on his role as opening night approaches.
Oct 4 - 11:37 PM

Alec Burks (knee) says he feels healthy and is ready for a bigger role this season.

Burks has been sidelined by a variety injuries since 2014 and has appeared in just 100 out of a possible 246 games over the last three seasons. He says he is now finally healthy and was able to put in a full offseason of work. "It was a great summer for me and I’m ready for the season to start," said Burks. However, he's not on the fantasy radar as he'll have to beat out Donovan Mitchell, Joe Johnson or Thabo Sefolosha to earn consistent minutes on the wing.
Sep 29 - 10:42 AM

Alec Burks (knee) has been working out at the Jazz practice facility.

He's been there a lot and it would appear Burks is healthy. Numerous injuries have kept Burks in check for the past few seasons, but he's putting in extra work to get the explosiveness back in his game. He could be competing with Donovan Mitchell for a rotation spot.
Sep 21 - 3:25 PM

According to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune, Alec Burks will be healthy at training camp for the first time in three years.

The Jazz will need to rely on guys like Burks, Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles and Donovan Mitchell to pick up the slack with Gordon Hayward no longer around. Burks has played an average of 33 games over the past three seasons, but he could be a big part of the second unit if his health cooperates. He's only on the radar in very deep leagues and doesn't have great upside in standard leagues.
Sep 11 - 12:07 PM

Alec Burks (knee) is healthy and "should be 100 percent good to go for training camp," according to reporter Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Burks was again limited by his balky knee all of last season. He averaged just 6.7 points on 39.9 percent shooting in 15.5 minutes over the 42 games he appeared in. Utah drafted highly-touted Donovan Mitchell with their first-round pick back in June, and Mitchell looked tremendous during summer league action. Burks, even if he's fully healthy, may have a tough time securing consistent minutes behind Mitchell and starter Rodney Hood.
Sep 1 - 1:52 PM

Alec Burks (knee) stated during his exit interview that he'll work on getting his explosion back during the offseason.

Burks' season was yet again derailed by injuries this year, and he didn't play a minute during the playoffs after undergoing a PRP treatment to his left knee. Over the past three seasons, Burks has only managed to suit up for a total of 100 games, and simply put, he won't be worth drafting in most leagues next season.
May 9 - 3:29 PM

Alec Burks (knee) could be shut down for the remainder of the postseason according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.

To be clear, a final decision has not been made yet. Burks is listed as out indefinitely after getting PRP treatment on his left knee in mid-March, but he wasn't expected to see more than a handful of minutes anyways with the Jazz healthy for the most part.
May 1 - 10:23 AM

Alec Burks (knee) remains out for Sunday.

He is out indefinitely with his PRP treatment to his left knee. Burks is not in the rotation and staying healthy has been a tough task for the slashing guard.
Apr 29 - 9:46 PM

Alec Burks (left knee) will not play in Game 5 vs. the Clippers on Tuesday.

He had a PRP treatment to his left knee last week and there's no word of a timetable for his return. The oft-injured guard wasn't a big part of the rotation anyways.
Apr 24 - 8:11 PM

Alec Burks (left knee) will not suit up for Game 4 on Sunday.

He had a PRP treatment to his left knee on Thursday, so at the very least, he figures to miss the remainder of this first-round series. He's a non-factor in the rotation, so his playing status is irrelevant, anyway.
Apr 23 - 3:24 PM

Alec Burks (knee) had a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection to his left knee on Thursday and he will not play in Game 3 on Friday.

He is basically out indefinitely. Burks has not been in the rotation and didn't really play much this season unless George Hill, Rodney Hood or Gordon Hayward missed time.
Apr 20 - 6:55 PM

Alec Burks (personal) returned to action on Wednesday, posting three points, one rebound and one steal in nine minutes off the bench.

Burks missed one game following the birth of his first child, and his return was welcome news for Utah's depleted backcourt. He's still not worth owning while Dante Exum, Shelvin Mack, Gordon Hayward, Rodney Hood, Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles are all healthy.
Mar 30 - 2:03 AM

Alec Burks (personal) is back with the team and is expected to be available for Wednesday against the Kings.

After being away from the team on Monday to be there for the birth of his daughter, Burks should be in the rotation tonight. He was playing point guard earlier in 2017 and the Jazz could look at him in that spot today. It'll still be tough to trust him in fantasy, especially if Gordon Hayward (quad) is a go.
