Alec Burks (ankle surgery) is no longer wearing a walking boot.
Additionally, Burks was getting up some stationary shots on Friday. The guard isn't expected to return to the court until after the All-Star break, but this is still a great sign. Burks was a low-end asset before going down with the injury, so he is only worth stashing in deeper leagues for now. His return will be huge for the Jazz's playoff hopes, though. Jan 29 - 1:20 PM

Date:

Alec Burks underwent successful ankle surgery on Tuesday, and he's hopeful to be back on the court after the All-Star break.

With Burks on the sidelines, look for Raul Neto, Trey Burke, Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles to see some increased opportunity, with Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors doing the heavy lifting on offense. Burks isn't worth holding onto in most leagues.

Alec Burks (fractured fibula) will undergo surgery on Tuesday to speed up his recovery.

The surgery will include the insertion of a plate and screws which will allow him to begin weight-bearing activities quicker than letting the fracture heal on its own. According to the report, Burks would then have a chance to return to the lineup right after the All-Star break in mid-February. While this is wonderful news for both Burks and the Jazz, he wasn't playing well enough to warrant a stash in standard leagues. We should have an update on his timetable after the procedure on Tuesday. Expect guys like Raul Neto, Trey Burke, Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles to fill the void in the meantime.

The Jazz have confirmed that Alec Burks suffered a fractured fibula, and there is no timetable for his return.

While Yahoo reported Burks would miss a "minimum" of six weeks, USA Today has Burks' timetable at "about" eight weeks and returning after the All-Star break. The good news is that no surgery is required for Burks, but it leaves the Jazz in a tough spot with a backcourt of Trey Burke, Raul Neto, Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles and Elijah MIllsap. Utah is going to need to get creative. As for Burks' fantasy value, he was a definitive drop candidate prior to his injury, so there isn't much need to wonder what to do now.

Alec Burks has reportedly been diagnosed with a fractured left fibula, in addition to the concussion, and he is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks.

With Burks out, Gordan Hayward is going to be asked to do even more on offense, with Trey Burke likely seeing a spike in his playing time. Rodney Hood will also see some more touches on offense, and Joe Ingles could become a regular part of the rotation. Burks was only producing nineteenth-round value on the season in standard 9-cat leagues, and there are no guarantees he meets the 6-week timetable (Utah is listing him as "out indefinitely"), so he's a cut-candidate with this news. If there's a positive here, it's that no surgery will be required for Alec.

According to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune, Alec Burks' left ankle injury "doesn't look good."

In addition to his ankle injury, Burks also suffered a concussion after he took a hard fall in Saturday's loss to the Clippers. Burks was down for a while and was visibly limping after the fall, and while he was seen wearing a boot, there is still no official diagnosis. The Jazz will likely run some tests on him, so Burks' owners should sit tight until we get a firm update. If he has to miss any time, Rodney Hood will have to play a few extra minutes, while Raul Neto, Trey Burke and Joe Ingles would have to step up as well. The Jazz are in serious trouble.

Alec Burks is dealing with concussion-like symptoms and a left ankle sprain and will not be able to return to Saturday's game vs. the Clippers.

He took a really hard fall and also appeared to land on his left shoulder, but it sounds like he is going to be forced to spend some time on the sidelines. Rodney Hood is trying to play through a glute strain and clearly isn't 100 percent, so the Jazz will need to get some production from Trey Burke, Joe Ingles or Elijah Millsap.

Alec Burks took a hard fall in Saturday's game vs. the Clippers and is questionable to return.

His legs appeared to fold under him when he landed and it also looked like his left shoulder took a lot of impact as well. Rodney Hood (glute strain) is also iffy to carry on, meaning guys like Trey Burke, Joe Ingles and Elijah Millsap will have to step up if they can't return.

Alec Burks was one of four Jazz players in double-figures on Wednesday, hitting 5-of-12 field goals with one 3-pointer to finish with 13 points, three rebounds and one assist.

He logged 27 minutes and now has back-to-back games with 10+ points after a three-game stretch in single-digits. He's been a liability in 12- and 14-team leagues due to inefficient offense (39.9 percent FGs, 75.9 percent FTs), poor defensive stats (0.6 steals, 0.2 blocks), and middling supporting stats (1.0 threes, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists). We'll let you know if he starts to heat up.

Alec Burks scored 13 points with two rebounds, two turnovers and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes against the Suns on Monday.

He might have thrown down the dunk of the year on Jon Leuer. Burks is in his worst slump of the season over his last five, averaging 11.6 points, 3.4 boards, 1.6 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.8 treys on 36.4 percent from the field. Burks' major slump makes him a cut candidate. You can check out the dunk in the link below.

Alec Burks was held to just eight points on 3-of-7 shooting during Friday's win over the Nuggets, and he didn't do much else with just four boards, one steal and a turnover in a mere 17 minutes.

The 17 minutes were a season-low for Burks and this was the third consecutive game that he scored just eight points. Burks is mired in a shooting slump, and because he doesn't do much aside from score, he can be a frustrating player to own on the nights his shot isn't falling. If he doesn't bounce back on Monday against the Suns, owners in standard leagues can start contemplating making the cut.

Alec Burks will return to the bench for Friday's game against the Nuggets.

Raul Neto will return to the starting lineup, but the demotion to the second-unit isn't necessarily a bad thing for Burks as his numbers as a reserve are actually better than his averages as a starter. Owners should feel confident rolling Burks out there for a favorable matchup with the Nuggets.

Alec Burks made his second start at point guard on Wednesday against the Pelicans, scoring eight points with five rebounds, two assists and two turnovers on 2-of-10 from the field.

Yuck. Burks hasn't fared well in his two starts at point guard, but his body of work as the PG suggests he'll be better. Burks is worth owning in standard leagues.
Thu, Dec 17, 2015 02:46:00 AM

Alec Burks and Jeff Withey are officially starting on Wednesday against the Pelicans.

Hopefully the Jazz give Burks big minutes. With Burks at PG more, that should open up more minutes for Rodney Hood, too.

Alec Burks could get the start against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

Burks at the one has worked well for them on the year and he will make his second start there. Burks should be in all standard-league lineups and gets a nice bump for DFS.
