Alec Burks said on Wednesday that he likes coach Quin Snyder's new offense.
"I feel like Quin plays my style," Burks said. "He wants to play with pace, open space. I do that for a living. I love to do that." He still hasn't been named as the official starter at shooting guard, but just about all signs suggest he'll be in that slot. Based on how he posted a 51.2 effective field goal percentage and a 23.1 usage rate after the break last season, Burks could have a breakout season. Oct 1 - 3:26 PM

Alec Burks is hopeful that he can reach a contract extension with the Jazz this summer.

If no deal is reached, Burks will be headed toward restricted free agency in 2015. "I hope it does [get done]," he said. "I saw it work out with [Derrick Favors] before the season. I saw it work out with Gordon [Hayward] after the season." The Jazz are also trying to extend Enes Kanter before the season starts, thus locking up their young core for the foreseeable future.
Sep 30 - 6:32 PM

The Jazz are in contract extension talks with Alec Burks.

He had a solid season last year and entered training camp with eight extra pounds of muscle on his frame. Burks is probably the best weapon for breaking down defenses and could be in for a major role this season. He shot a very respectable 35.0 percent from beyond the arc last season and upped his steals per game to 0.9, so he could have a breakout this year. Don't forget about him on draft day.
Sep 30 - 12:40 AM

Alec Burks scored an efficient 22 points on 8-of-10 from the field on Monday vs. the Lakers during a 119-104 loss, adding three boards, two assists and two 3-pointers.

It was his 11th start of the season and tonight was a nice improvement from his previous 10 starts, which led to averages of 13.7 points, 3.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 triples. Burks has added some diversity to his game both in reality and on the stat sheet, but he's never really going to be a go-to scorer in the NBA on a consistent basis.
Apr 14 - 11:43 PM

Alec Burks started again on Saturday over Richard Jefferson, but struggled, hitting just 1-of-3 shots (a 3-pointer) for five points in a loss to Denver.

We're not sure what happened to Burks tonight, as he looked primed for a solid night in the starting lineup. He should be better in his next one. RJ had seven points in 26 minutes off the bench.
Apr 13 - 12:31 AM

Alec Burks moved into the starting lineup in Friday's loss to the Blazers, scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds and two assists in a career-high 42 minutes.

Burks is going to get heavy run the rest of the way and is looking at a likely late-round floor for the rest of the year. He's worth a hard look despite his fantasy deficiencies in standard leagues.
Apr 12 - 2:36 AM

Alec Burks will start against the Blazers on Friday.

He will join Trey Burke, Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter. This is probably the best unit for the Jazz as far as talent goes, but their lack of depth has kept Burks on the bench. The move into the starting lineup doesn't help his fantasy value too much.
Apr 11 - 8:25 PM

The Jazz fell to the Warriors on Sunday despite Alec Burks coming off the bench for 24 points with four rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Burks thrives when he relentlessly drives to the basket, which he did on Sunday to finish 14-of-16 at the FT line. Given that he's been a sub-par shooter from everywhere but the left corner this season, Utah surely hopes that he stays in attack mode.
Apr 6 - 11:36 PM

Alec Burks scored 17 points off the bench in Monday's loss, hitting 7-of-12 shots (including two threes) with seven rebounds, four assists, five turnovers and one steal in 34 minutes.

Burks' line stands out for a team that looks like it has quit and for that fact alone he's worth a look in standard leagues. Just don't expect a lot since he'll have to shake season-long trends displaying a lack of versatility.
Apr 1 - 2:31 AM

Alec Burks returned from an ankle injury on Sunday vs. the Thunder, playing 21 minutes with 12 points, three boards, one assist and one steal.

He missed the last four games due to a sprain and shot the ball well, making 5-of-10 from the field. Burks has improved in several areas since the break including increases in points, boards, assists, steals, field goal percentage and treys. He's a low-upside player with only three games this week.
Mar 30 - 5:35 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) will play against the Thunder on Sunday.

He missed his last four games due to an ankle sprain and it's unknown if he'll be back around average of 27.7 minutes per game. Fantasy owners should probably steer clear of Burks today while Richard Jefferson also takes a hit.
Mar 30 - 2:12 PM

Alec Burks will test his ankle in warmups on Sunday to determine whether he will play vs. OKC.

There is no official word yet as to whether he will play or not, so check back closer to the tip. If he is unable to go Diante Garrett and Marvin Williams will pick up a few more minutes off the bench, with Williams being the more intriguing add.
Mar 30 - 1:47 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) practiced on Saturday and he's listed as a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Thunder.

Burks didn't play Friday because he hadn't done much during recent practices and was out of shape, so his return to the court bodes well. Diante Garrett and Marvin Williams have each picked up a few more minutes off the bench in Burks' absence.
Mar 29 - 5:34 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) won't play against New Orleans on Friday.

Burks told reporters that he wouldn't play Friday night and added, "I'm not in shape. I want to play some one on one, two on two first." Marvin Williams and Diante Garrett looked to be the beneficiaries of Burks' absence, but neither should have standard league owners running to their waiver wires.
Mar 28 - 1:23 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) won't play vs. Memphis on Wednesday.

This marks Burks' second straight DNP and he was recently spotted in a walking boot, so there are no guarantees that he'll be ready for Friday's game vs. the Pelicans. Marvin Williams stepped up with 11 points in 30 minutes in Burks' absence on Monday, while Diante Garrett added four points and two assists in 21 minutes. There are no winners here for fantasy owners.
