Alec Burks played just nine minutes and missed all four of his shots, failing to score a point in Monday's 106-101 win over the Suns.
Joe Ingles started for Rodney Hood (knee) and played well, and Joe Johnson was Joe Cool off the bench with 15 points and three 3-pointers, so Burks looks like the big loser in the Hood-injury sweepstakes. If you picked up Burks in hopes of a decent week, we'd recommend throwing him back and taking a flier on Ingles or Johnson, instead. Jan 17 - 12:16 AM

Alec Burks said he's close to 100 percent after his eight-point game in 15 minutes on Saturday.

He said he's been waiting for this for "like a year" and he said he knew he was ready to play. Burks acknowledged he had a serious injury and he's still improving. He said he wanted to get to the rim more and he plans on doing that more as he gets more comfortable. With Rodney Hood (knee) possibly missing time, Burks is a speculative add in deep leagues.

Alec Burks played 14 minutes and scored eight points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in Saturday’s 114-107 victory of the Magic.

Burks was recalled from the D-League on Jan. 12 and could hang around for a while, as Rodney Hood (knee) suffered a hyperextended knee in tonight’s game. He has only appeared in six games for the Jazz this season, but could see a larger role if Hood misses any time. He looked good tonight and can play multiple positions for Utah. That being said, for now, Burks can be left on waivers, but he is someone worth keeping an eye on.
Jan 15 - 12:12 AM

Alec Burks will be in the rotation with Joe Johnson (rest) out on Saturday against the Magic.

We saw Burks get five minutes on Friday night, but he didn't play well on the offensive side. The Jazz loved him at times last year with some point guard minutes, but he's in a tight spot for minutes. Leave him on the wire.
Jan 14 - 7:49 PM

Alec Burks said he feels like he is "back to where I was before I got hurt" after playing extended minutes in the D-Leauge on Wednesday.

"Yeah. I’m fast," Burks said. "That’s what I guess [the Jazz] wanted to see. When I found out my leg was good and steady and stable, I knew I was going to be back, as aggressive as I was." Burks scored 17 points, but only shot 5-of-17 from the floor and is still shaking off some rust. He's not expected to spend more time in the D-League, but it's going to be hard for him to find minutes on the Jazz as they have one of the deepest rosters in the West. He needs a trade in order to have value.
Jan 12 - 9:13 AM

The Jazz have recalled Alec Burks, Raul Neto and Dante Exum from the D-League.

They were assigned to the D-League for just a few hours in order to get an extra practice in. None of these plays have any value in standard leagues at the moment.
Jan 9 - 6:52 PM

Alec Burks has been assigned to Utah's D-League affiliate.

Burks is still being eased back into things after being sidelined for roughly a year, so he'll get in some practice with Utah's D-League squad. Burks will be working with a strict minutes limit for the foreseeable future, so there's no reason to own him anywhere.
Jan 9 - 2:23 PM

Alec Burks played only two minutes during the second half of Utah's back-to-back set on Sunday.

The Jazz are being extremely cautious with Burks, who is coming off ankle surgery, and coach Quin Snyder recently said that integrating him will be "a long process." The Jazz have "a lot of options on the wing," Snyder said, and there's no reason to touch Burks outside of the deepest leagues.
Jan 8 - 11:03 PM

Coach Quin Snyder said playing Alec Burks will be "a long process."

"We have a lot of options on the wing," Snyder said. "And Alec knows that and he's great about that." Burks also admitted he should not have returned to action for his three games in the 2016 portion of last season. He's not in the rotation right now and could be traded.
Jan 4 - 3:30 PM

Alec Burks picked up a DNP-CD on Tuesday vs. the Celtics.

He made his season debut on Monday and only played three minutes in that one, so it sounds like this was a maintenance day for Burks. He's going to be limited for a while and needs a trade to have any real value. Leave him on the wire.
Jan 3 - 10:07 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) is questionable to play Tuesday vs. the Celtics.

Burks logged three minutes in his season debut on Monday, but with this being the second game of a back-to-back set, head coach Quin Snyder may want to take it easy on him and have him watch the game from the sidelines. This is a good example of the extreme caution that Utah will take with bringing Burks back into the fold, and is why he's not worth owning anywhere.
Jan 3 - 6:23 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) made his season debut on Monday vs. the Nets, but missed his only shot of the night and finished with one turnover in three minutes.

He wasn't expected to eclipse 10 minutes, but a three-minute workload is incredibly cautious even by Utah's standards. It's not clear if Burks will be active on Tuesday vs. Boston, but fantasy owners can comfortably watch him progress from the waiver wire.
Jan 2 - 10:40 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) is unlikely to exceed the 10-minute mark during Monday's game against the Nets.

"He hasn't played essentially in a year," head coach Quin Snyder said. "So we shouldn't expect too much." Burks has had some serious issues trying to stay healthy over the past few years, so the Jazz have every reason to be extremely cautious with bringing him back. He's not worth stashing in most leagues.
Jan 2 - 3:58 PM

Alec Burks (ankle) has been cleared to play on Monday against the Nets.

Given his long injury history, Burks is going to be eased back into action but should make an appearance tonight with both George Hill (concussion) and Dante Exum (knee) out. The Jazz are one of the deepest teams in the West, so Burks will likely need a trade to become relevant in standard leagues. We will hopefully know more about his playing time restrictions closer to tip-off, but for now most owners should leave him on the wire.
Jan 2 - 11:05 AM

Alec Burks (ankle) is being listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Nets.

Burks is on the cusp of a return, although he'll more than likely be brought along with extreme caution given his struggles with staying healthy over the past few seasons. Until Burks is fully up to speed, he can safely remain on the waiver wire in most settings.
