Alec Burks (knee, ankle) is expected to be healthy for training camp.
He had arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris in his left knee and ankle in early June, but it was said to be a minor procedure. Burks has had some tough luck with injuries in his career, and the addition of George Hill and return of Dante Exum (knee) from injury means that his minutes could take a hit next season. Alec Burks underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris in his left knee and ankle on Tuesday.

This is the same ankle that Burks underwent surgery on this past season, and while he is expected to make a full recovery well before training camp, it's concerning to see Burks go under the knife yet again. Health has been a constant issue for Burks throughout his five-year career, and after posting averages of 13.3 points, 2.0 assists and 1.0 3-pointer on 41.0 percent shooting through just 31 games during the 2015-16 season, he won't be a very enticing grab in standard leagues on draft day.
Jun 8 - 11:35 AM

Alec Burks admitted that he tried to return too soon from his leg injury this season.

"I don’t think the leg was ready," Burks said. "It was bittersweet because I couldn’t play like I usually play and I couldn’t do the things I’m accustomed to doing. I thought I was ready to play, but game speed and practice speed is totally different and I found out I couldn’t contribute like I thought I could." Burks has had some tough luck with injuries in his five seasons in the NBA and he regressed in nearly every category this year. Hopefully the 24-year-old SG can find a way to stay healthy next season.
Apr 30 - 12:40 PM

Alec Burks (sore left knee) won't play vs. the Lakers on Wednesday.

Burks recently returned from leg surgery so there's no reason for Utah to risk a setback, especially since the Rockets are cruising toward a win that will eliminate the Jazz from the playoffs. Burks played in just 31 games this season, averaging 13.3 points, 1.0 threes, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.6 steals.
Apr 13 - 9:47 PM

Alec Burks (sore left knee) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Lakers.

Burks hasn't exceeded the 14-minute mark since returning to the court, so even if he's not able to give it a go tonight, there won't be any major fantasy implications to his absence. Joe Ingles would likely pick up some of his minutes, but that doesn't mean much.
Apr 13 - 1:42 PM

Alec Burks has no interest in changing his style of play in order to potentially prevent future injuries.

"If I change my game, I feel like I change my future. So I don't want to change," he said. "I may change a little bit, pick and choose, but I've got to play fearless. That's how I play." After being limited to just 27 games last season, Burks will play in a maximum of 32 regular season contests this year.
Apr 11 - 12:30 PM

In his second game back from a broken leg, Alec Burks went scoreless with five rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes off the bench.

Quin Snyder said that Burks "looked comfortable" in his return on Friday, but it's no surprise that he looked rusty tonight given his 50-game absence. The Jazz may opt to rest him in the second half of a back-to-back set on Monday, so deep-league owners should be on the lookout for status updates.
Apr 10 - 7:40 PM

Alec Burks (leg) scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting in his return to action on Friday, adding three 3-pointers, one rebound, and one turnover in just 13 minutes of play.

Burks also went 3-of-3 from the line, giving him a ridiculous true shooting percentage of 110.0 on the evening, but in typical Burks' fashion he failed to offer any steals, blocks or assists. He did, however, displace Shelvin Mack in the starting five to begin overtime and did not leave the floor. The Jazz do have a three-game set of favorable matchups to close out the year, going up against the Nuggets, Mavericks and Lakers, but Burks' value is still limited to deeper formats as he rarely contributes much to the stat sheet aside from points and triples.
Apr 9 - 3:45 AM

Alec Burks will play against the Clippers on Friday.

He's back. Burks will likely have a hard cap on his minutes tonight, but he will return after being out since December. He's not a fantasy option tonight. His return doesn't hurt Rodney Hood or Gordon Hayward either.
Apr 8 - 7:21 PM

Alec Burks (leg) is "almost certainly"going to be in uniform on Friday against the Clippers.

He will have a major restriction tonight, but it'll be a nice boost to the bench. Burks won't be worth owning in standard leagues, but keep an eye on him for postseason DFS.
Apr 8 - 5:38 PM

Updating a previous report, Alec Burks (leg) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers.

Burks was able to get in a full practice on Thursday, which is certainly a positive sign regarding his impending return to the court. That being said, he hasn't seen any game-time action since December 26, so he'll likely be very limited upon his return. With just four more games on the schedule for Utah, Burks isn't worth owning in almost any setting.
Apr 7 - 2:15 PM

Alec Burks (leg) will play on Friday against the Clippers.

He is almost certainly going to be limited upon his return. Burks coming back should take minutes away from Rodney Hood or Gordon Hayward. He'll also come off the bench and shouldn't be a factor in fantasy this regular season. This is definitely helpful in reality.
Apr 6 - 7:59 PM

Alec Burks (leg) is still being listed as "out" for Tuesday's game against the Spurs.

Head coach Quin Snyder shot down the rumors that Burks will be shutdown for the season, calling those reports "erroneous," and while he won't be playing on Tuesday there's a chance he can get back on the court for either Friday's game against the Clippers or Sunday's game in Denver. That being said, he'll likely be brought along slowly given that he hasn't played since January, so there's no incentive to own him in most leagues.
Apr 5 - 3:15 PM

Alec Burks (leg) is listed as out for Tuesday against the Spurs.

He is expected to return this week and being listed as out doesn't officially rule him out. There should be an update on Burks at shootaround on Tuesday morning. There's no reason to stash him in most leagues.
Apr 4 - 7:57 PM

Alec Burks (leg) could return possibly as early as Tuesday night against the Spurs.

He is expected to return in the next week, barring a setback. Burks has been out since December with his broken fibula and the Jazz have been very careful wit him. He is likely going to have a minutes limit and shouldn't be a big factor. He would take minutes from Chris Johnson and Joe Ingles. There's very little reason to stash Burks right now.
