Alec Burks finished with 20 points across 27 minutes off the bench in Saturday's loss at Milwaukee.
Burks continues to roll up big point totals with Rodney Hood (ankle) on the shelf. He finished 8-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the 3-point line, while adding six rebounds and three assists with just one turnover. He is working on a season-high seven-game streak with 10 or more points, which is exactly how many games Hood has been sidelined. Once Hood is back, Burks will take a big step back in terms of minutes, production and fantasy value. Dec 10 - 1:04 AM

Alec Burks hit 6-of-12 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points, three assists and two steals in 27 minutes off the bench in Thursday's loss to the Rockets.

He was a bit quiet on Tuesday with 11 points on 2-of-9 shooting, but got back on track tonight. He'll fade a bit once Rodney Hood is back from his ankle injury, but for now, Burks has basically become a must-own player as long as Hood's in street clothes.
Dec 8 - 1:26 AM

Alec Burks hit just 2-of-9 shots and no 3-pointers for 11 points, two rebounds, five assists and a steal in 22 minutes of Tuesday's loss to OKC.

Burks had scored at least 24 points in three straight games with eight 3-pointers, so he was due to cool off at some point. Rodney Hood was out tonight, and remains day-to-day with his ankle injury, so Burks is probably still worth using the rest of this week. He'll look to get hot again on Thursday against the Rockets.
Dec 5 - 11:10 PM

Alec Burks was dominant in a 116-69 win over the Wizards on Monday, scoring 27 points on 9-of-13 shots and 6-of-6 free throws.

Rodney Hood (ankle) was out again, and Burks did all of his damage in just 28 minutes due to the lopsided score. He added five rebounds, three assists, one steal and three triples, and he's officially one of the hottest SGs in the West with averages of 22.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.6 triples in his previous three games. He looks like a strong pickup with the Jazz banged up and has three more games on the schedule this week.
Dec 5 - 12:35 AM

Alec Burks kept his foot on the gas with 24 points, three boards, one assist, two steals, one block and one triple in 31 minutes against the Pelicans on Friday.

Rodney Hood missed his third game in a row with left ankle soreness, and the Jazz were fortunate that Burks and Donovan Mitchell saved the day with Ricky Rubio posting a donut in the scoring column. Burks was coming off a 28-point game on Thursday and has gone on nice runs like this in the past, but his durability always held him back. He's worth a long look while Hood is out, but keep in mind the Jazz are off until Monday.
Dec 2 - 12:54 AM

Alec Burks exploded for a season-high 28 points with seven rebounds, five assists, three steals, one block and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Clippers on Thursday.

He was 11-of-17 from the field and made both free throws. Burks basically slid right into Rodney Hood's role as the second-unit gunner and he's also been hot from deep lately with his 8-of-12 from deep over his last three. Burks did put up 14 points on Tuesday and he's clearly earned a sizable role until Hood is back. Hood was ruled out hours before this game, so maybe he needs to miss more time. While he doesn't have much long-term value in fantasy, he could have some short-term value. Congrats to anyone who streamed him or used him in DFS tonight.
Dec 1 - 1:25 AM

Alec Burks had 15 points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 25 minutes on Wednesday, making 5-of-10 field goals and 4-of-6 free throws.

This was the most points Burks has scored since opening night, and he's yet to hit double-digits in consecutive games this season. Until that changes, he's a non-factor in fantasy leagues.
Nov 23 - 12:40 AM

Alec Burks scored 10 points with six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 28 minutes against the Nets on Friday.

As far as playing time goes, Burks is likely the biggest beneficiary with Raul Neto from the Ricky Rubio injury. He started the second half over Jonas Jerebko because the Jazz were smoked in the first half. Burks has played point guard for coach Quin Snyder before and he'll handle the ball more while Rubio is out. He's worth a look in deeper leagues.
Nov 17 - 11:08 PM

Alec Burks finished with 12 points, five rebounds, two assist and a steal with just one turnover across 22 minutes in Friday's loss against the Heat.

Burks will continue to see regular playing time with Joe Johnson (right wrist) on the shelf. This was his best stat line of the season, but he'll need to string together a few strong games in a row if he is to have fantasy appeal outside of the deepest of leagues.
Nov 11 - 1:18 AM

Alec Burks chipped in 10 points, three rebounds, two 3-pointers, one assist and one steal in 24 minutes vs. Houston on Sunday.

Joe Johnson (right wrist) will be out a few weeks, so maybe Burks can build some momentum as a bench option, but we're not too optimistic. He came in shooting just 42.1 percent from the field and hadn't scored double-digit points since the season opener. There's a lot to prove before most fantasy owners will pay him attention.
Nov 5 - 9:39 PM

Alec Burks posted eight points with three rebounds, one assist, one steal and a blocked shot in 20 minutes off the pine Saturday against the Thunder.

Burks, Joe Johnson and Donovan Mitchell are seeing an uptick in playing time as they divvy up the minutes of Rodney Hood (calf). Burks did his part, outshining Mitchell, who actually was in the starting five. If Mitchell continues to struggle it might mean Burks sees a larger role. For now, though, his fantasy appeal remains limited to the deepest of leagues.
Oct 22 - 12:31 AM

Alec Burks thrived in 15 minutes off the bench vs. Denver, scoring 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting with two 3-pointers, one rebound and one steal.

Burks was impressive this preseason and his path to reliable minutes is clearer now that Dante Exum (shoulder) could be done for the season. That said, the six-year veteran hasn't appeared in more than 42 games since 2013-14, which is reason enough to leave him on the wire.
Oct 19 - 2:09 AM

Alec Burks lit it up in 19 minutes against the Suns on Friday, scoring 19 points with six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

Injuries have been a thorn in the side of the former Colorado Buffalo, especially in the past three seasons. However, there were some glory days with Burks running point in what was called a triple-wing lineup a few years ago, and Burks is still just 26 years old. With Dante Exum (shoulder) likely missing time, Burks could be worth a look in deep leagues. Although, we do have to mention one more time he's been quite a fantasy tease.
Oct 7 - 1:15 AM

Alec Burks (knee) played well in 23 minutes on Wednesday, making 5-of-7 shots to finish with 16 points, three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, two assists and one block.

Welcome back, Alec. He was quiet in Monday's exhibition but found a groove vs. Maccabi tonight -- the quality of the competition should be noted, but the key is that Burks looked healthy. He's missed an average of 48.7 games due to injuries over the past three seasons, but this is a big step in the right direction. We'll keep a close eye on his role as opening night approaches.
Oct 4 - 11:37 PM

Alec Burks (knee) says he feels healthy and is ready for a bigger role this season.

Burks has been sidelined by a variety injuries since 2014 and has appeared in just 100 out of a possible 246 games over the last three seasons. He says he is now finally healthy and was able to put in a full offseason of work. "It was a great summer for me and I’m ready for the season to start," said Burks. However, he's not on the fantasy radar as he'll have to beat out Donovan Mitchell, Joe Johnson or Thabo Sefolosha to earn consistent minutes on the wing.
