Alec Burks had 16 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 35 minutes vs. the Thunder on Wednesday, making 6-of-14 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs in 35 minutes of action.
Burks is shooting just 38.7 percent from the field this season, compared to 45.7 percent last season. He's been steady enough for 14-team value and has enough upside to hang onto in shallower formats, but his owners will need to see some consistency in the next month. Nov 27 - 12:08 AM

Alec Burks made 1-of-11 from the field against the Pelicans on Saturday for two points with four rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and four turnovers.

No bueno. Burks has been trending down since a solid start and this is obviously his worst game. He'll get better, but fantasy owners can consider cutting him if there is a hot free agent out there.
Nov 23 - 2:18 AM

Alec Burks was challenged by head coach Quin Snyder recently to be more aggressive on the boards, and Burks responded with back-to-back double-digit rebounding games.

"Coach really challenged me one day in Toronto [to grab more rebounds]. Man to man, had a talk," Burks said. "He challenged me and I took that challenge." Burks finished Saturday's game vs. Toronto with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and followed up that performance by going for 20 points and 14 rebounds vs. the Thunder on Tuesday. Burks is averaging 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 three-pointer per game this year, and if he could just up his shooting percentage a bit (42.7 percent on the year), he'd quickly become a top-100 player.
Nov 21 - 8:53 AM

Alec Burks exploded on Tuesday for 20 points (5-of-8 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), two 3-pointers, 14 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in a win vs. the visiting Thunder.

This was the first time in Burks' career that he's posted 20 & 10, and this terrific line goes a long way toward justifying fantasy owners' faith in him. He came in averaging a mediocre 13.5 points on 41.5 percent shooting, 0.9 threes, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.5 steals per game, but once he finds his shooting range he should vault into top-100 fantasy value.
Nov 18 - 11:37 PM

Alec Burks got hot on Wednesday, hitting 9-of-15 shots and a 3-pointer for 22 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal.

He had just nine points on Monday, but is still averaging 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 0.6 3-pointers over his last five. We'd like to see him score more consistently, but he's getting 35 minutes per game, meaning he's worth owning despite the ups and downs.
Nov 12 - 10:07 PM

Alec Burks made just 4-of-13 from the field for nine points with four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one turnover in 38 minutes in a 97-86 loss to the Pacers on Monday.

It's the first time his field goal attempts outnumbers his points and his field goal percentage dipped below 40 percent on the season after tonight. Burks has still hit 88 percent at the line and he's been good from beyond the arc, so his owners should still stick with him.
Nov 10 - 10:21 PM

Alec Burks made just 4-of-13 from the field for 16 points against the Clippers on Monday with four rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.

On the bright side, he's now 20-of-21 from the line on the season. Burks has seen his other stats go up and with Trey Burke struggling, he could handle the ball a little more. He should be owned in all leagues.
Nov 4 - 1:27 AM

Alec Burks "made it known" to his agent that he wanted to work out a long-term extension with the Jazz.

"I told my agent and had him tell the Jazz I want to be here. I want to be part of the future. It's a bright future here. We have some great players. I just wanted to be a part of it," Burks said. Coach Quin Snyder and GM Dennis Lindsey both heaped praise on Burks following the deal, and the shooting guard is averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 triples and a steal on 43.3% shooting through three games.

Nov 3 - 11:51 AM

Alec Burks scored 10 points with six rebounds, three assists and one block in 33 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

He was 2-of-8 from the field and made all six from the line. Despite being a career 74 percent shooter at the line, Burks is now 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) on the season. His steals, dimes and treys are all on the way up, which explains why his fantasy value is going in a similar direction.
Nov 2 - 2:46 AM

Alec Burks has reportedly agreed to a four-year extension with the Jazz worth $42 million.

That's a nice payday for Burks, and he's expected to be a main piece of head coach Quin Snyder's offense. He's been scoring in bunches to start the year, and is averaging 16.5 points, 2.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-pointers, and 1.5 steals through the first two games of the season. If you were able to swoop up Burks towards the later rounds of your draft, some congratulations are in order.
Oct 31 - 11:48 AM

Alec Burks made three 3-pointers on his way to 15 points against the Mavericks on Thursday, adding one rebound, two assists and two steals in 26 minutes.

He's now sitting at 2.0 triples and 1.5 steals per game, which will be huge for his value if he can even flirt with those averages. Burks shot 37.5 percent from deep in his 12 starts last year, so he could be trending up as a shooter. On top of that, he's 7-of-8 from the line on the year. While the sample size is tiny, Burks looks like a legitimate fantasy asset.
Oct 31 - 1:06 AM

Alec Burks scored a team-high 18 points against the Rockets during a 104-93 loss with three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.

He shot 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line. Burks' fantasy value will hinge on his effectiveness at the line, but everything else seems to be on its way up. He's stealing a little more, making triples and adding some dimes. He's worth owning in all standard leagues.
Oct 30 - 1:31 AM

Alec Burks was in attack-mode offensively on Friday, notching 20 points vs. the Suns on 5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-3 three-pointers, and 8-of-11 FTs.

Burks is a clever and quick ball-handler who attacks the paint with abandon, which is part of the reason he attempted 4.8 free throws in just 28 minutes per game last year. His 74.8 percent FT shooting leaves room for improvement, but he's a great target toward the end of fantasy drafts thanks to steady across-the-board contributions and a growing role in the offense.
Oct 24 - 11:47 PM

Alec Burks hit 2-of-9 shots, 11-of-13 free throws and missed all four of his 3-point attempts in Tuesday's win over the Thunder.

He finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three steals, and despite the poor shooting, he's going to get a lot of minutes and should be a valuable fantasy shooting guard to own.
Oct 21 - 10:56 PM

Alec Burks returned from his left shoulder injury to score 21 points with six rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and six turnovers in 29 minutes during Sunday's exhibition.

Burks made 7-of-14 FGs and 7-of-9 FTs, and he made the highlight reel with a behind-the-back dribble to blow past Kobe Bryant and split two defenders for a layup in the second quarter. Utah needs another reliable ball-handler to take some pressure off Trey Burke, and Burks' offensive versatility makes him an intriguing late-round option at SG.
