Kenneth Faried grabbed five offensive boards in Thursday's Game 6 loss to the Warriors, finishing with 11 points and 11 boards in 28 minutes.
JaVale McGee added seven offensive boards of his own on his way to nine points, 10 boards, two steals and one block in 26 minutes. The Nuggets had an astonishing 22 offensive rebounds and still weren't able to get a W. Denver led the NBA with 13.1 offensive rebounds per game, but shooting just 34.7 percent from the field led to their undoing tonight. Faried had his ups and downs during the season and his inconsistent minutes could make fantasy owners shy away from drafting him next year. May 3 - 1:56 AM

Kenneth Faried conceded that he's "banged up" and "not the Faried of old."

Faried's ankle injury has really slowed him in the first round of the playoffs, and it's fair to wonder if the Nuggets simply can't overcome injuries to critical players. "I have to get my ankle better," he said. "I can't do some of the things I want to do. It hurts, but I'm fine." The Nuggets will throw the kitchen sink at the Warriors to try and stay alive in Game 5.

Coach George Karl said he's leaning toward starting Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried as his starting power forward and center in Friday's Game 3.

They'll be joined by Ty Lawson, Evan Fournier and Andre Iguodala. It's a highly unconventional lineup, but it's one the Nuggets can get away with because of the Warriors' small-ball approach. It's not like Karl was getting anything out of Kosta Koufos anyway, as he was averaging 3.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.5 blocks through the first two games of the series.

Kenneth Faried (ankle) is expected back in the starting lineup for Friday's Game 3 vs. Golden State.

All signs are pointing to Faried returning to his typical role after missing Game 1 and coming off the bench for Game 2. It's not clear what type of effectiveness Faried will have or if he'll play limited minutes, but we expect Karl to get the Manimal back in his comfort zone to get him going in this series.

Kenneth Faried, who is likely to start in Game 3, admitted he does not like coming off of the bench.

"It's difficult to come off the bench," he said. "it felt weird. I'm not used to it. I like to start and set the tempo." George Karl said the team is "definitely thinking" about starting Faried for a critical Game 3, and we'd be very surprised if the Manimal isn't in his traditional spot in the lineup. Although he admitted his ankle is still "a little tight," Faried doesn't expect to be limited going forward.

Kenneth Faried will likely return to the starting lineup in Friday's Game 3 vs. the Warriors.

Faried came off the bench Tuesday night in his return from an ankle injury, registering four points, two boards and one steal in 21 minutes. We were already optimistic he'd improve in time for Game 3 given the time off and the bump back into the starting lineup only backs that up.
Apr 24 - 3:42 PM

Kenneth Faried returned from his ankle injury in Tuesday's 131-117 Game 2 loss to Golden State, finishing with four points, two boards and one steal in 21 minutes.

Faried getting only two boards in 21 minutes is almost shocking based on his 9.2 boards in only 28.1 minutes per game this regular season. Game 3 isn't until Friday, so the two days off should help Faried. On April 14, he was taken off in a wheelchair with his ankle sprain, so missing just 1.5 weeks isn't as serious as it could have been. We'd expect him to have a better night on Friday.

Kenneth Faried (ankle) will come off the bench for Tuesday's game against the Warriors.

He did not play in Saturday's game and he's unlikely to be at his season average of 28.1 minutes per game. The Warriors not having David Lee and the Nuggets getting Faried back is a huge swing in favor of Denver, so the deck is certainly stacked against the Warriors in this series.
Apr 23 - 9:33 PM

Coach George Karl said he's still unsure how many minutes Kenneth Faried (ankle) will play in Tuesday's Game 2.

Faried will get in the game, but likely off the bench for limited minutes. With David Lee (hip) sidelined for the Warriors, the Nuggets won't need the Manimal's rebounding ability too much anyway. Look for Wilson Chandler to get the majority of power forward minutes once again.
Apr 23 - 2:53 PM

Although it remains doubtful, George Karl left the door open for Kenneth Faried (ankle) to start in Game 2 rather than come off the bench.

Faried will likely come off the bench as he works his way back in with Wilson Chandler remaining in the starting lineup, but Karl said he'll test Faried at shootaround to see how he looks. If Faried does play his way into the starting lineup, Chandler will likely move back to the bench since Karl has already said he prefers using him in that role.

Nuggets coach George Karl says Kenneth Faried (ankle) likely won't start Tuesday night.

Faried missed Game 1 of the Nuggets' series against the Warriors but deemed himself ready to return Monday. Karl wasn't quite as definitive, although it seems like Faried will be active in some sense. It's still unclear how many minutes Faried is ready to play, although it's likely to be a smaller amount than normal. Wilson Chandler will likely continue to start as long as Faried is coming off the bench.
Apr 22 - 4:03 PM

Kenneth Faried (ankle) is ready to return to the Nuggets lineup for Game 2 after missing Game 1 vs. the Warriors.

Faried deemed himself ready to go after missing three total games. "You can't sit me out that long," he said. It's still not clear whether Faried will start or come off the bench, but if Faried does start, Wilson Chandler will return to his usual role off the bench.

Apr 22 - 1:01 PM

Kenneth Faried, who missed Saturday's Game 1 with a sprained left ankle, says he's going to play in Game 2 against the Warriors.

"I want to play," he said. "You can't keep a person who wants to play, down. With my job and my commitment and the things I've been doing with the training staff, I'm just focused and locked in and getting better. I'm going to play." The Nuggets will look for Faried to have a huge role against the Warriors, who lost David Lee for the remainder of the playoffs with a torn hip flexor. Faried plans to practice on Monday and we should have a better idea of his availability for Game 2 after that. But barring a setback, it sounds like he's going to play.

Apr 21 - 11:36 PM

When asked if Kenneth Faried (ankle) would play in Game 2 vs. the Warriors, George Karl responded, "I think he's moving in that direction."

Faried was in uniform for Game 1, but as expected, he never left the bench. The exciting second-year forward is continuing to progress from his injury and has a real chance to be ready after missing just one playoff game. It's not yet clear if he'd start in Game 2 if he's healthy enough to play or if he'd be limited in some capacity. For what it's worth, Faried said he'd "definitely" plan in the second game, but the training staff and doctors will have to clear him.

Apr 21 - 10:25 AM

Kenneth Faried will be in uniform for Saturday's game against the Warriors but is not expected t play.

"Faried will be in uniform, that's all I'm gonna say," George Karl said. Faried suffered a terrible ankle sprain on Sunday and left the game in a wheelchair, so it's not a surprise that he's going to miss a week of action. Faried's rebounding being out of the lineup is going to hurt Denver with the tempo in which this series should be played. Wilson Chandler figures to start at power forward and there could be an Anthony Randolph playoff sighting.
