Hawks draft pick Lucas Nogueira has been named the top defender in Spain's ACB League.
Nogueira missed many weeks with severe knee tendinitis and bruising, but he obviously did well upon his return to Spain. He finished the season averaging 6.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in only 17 minutes per game, and he'll have a steep climb to fantasy relevance whenever he joins the Hawks. Apr 9 - 12:51 PM

Hawks draft pick Lucas Nogueira (knee tendinitis) returned to action for his team in Spain on Sunday.

The 7'0" center spent 10 weeks in Atlanta receiving treatment for "severe tendinitis" and it's great to see him back on the court, even if he's irrelevant for fantasy purposes this season.

Hawks draft pick Lucas Nogueira will return to Spain next week after getting 10 weeks of treatment for severe knee tendinitis in the U.S.

It's not encouraging to see a 21-year-old crippled by tendinitis but the good news is that he's healthy enough to resume playing for Tuenti Móvil Estudiantes in Spain. It's possible that Atlanta will sign him for the 2014-15 season and we'll keep an eye on his development and health over the summer.

Lucas Nogueira has returned to Atlanta to have Hawks doctors help him recover from severe tendinitis in both knees.

He's out at least two months and will return to play in Spain whenever he's healthy, so this news doesn't have any fantasy implications.

Hawks general manager Danny Ferry is still "encouraged" with first-round pick Lucas Nogueira.

"We are very encouraged by what we’ve seen from Lucas this summer," Ferry said. "Going back to Estudiantes will allow him to continue develop while also playing meaningful minutes against very good competition. We will closely monitor his progress as he works towards his goals as a basketball player." The 21-year-old big man will play in Spain next season, but the Hawks still have his draft rights. Once he develops, Nogueira has some length and could be a useful player around the basket.

Hawks first-round pick Lucas Nogueira will remain in Spain this season.

The team decided to let Nogueira continue to develop in Spain instead of trying to find him minutes in their crowded frontcourt. The 7-footer averaged 6.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during Summer League, but was often pushed around under the basket and the team would like him to add weight to his frame.

Lucas Nogueira is "most likely" headed to Spain for next season.

It make the rookie was headed overseas with the Hawks picking up Gustavo Ayon on Sunday evening. He's fairly athletic considering he has a 7'6" wingspan and put up a few highlight-reel jams in Vegas earlier this month. A buyout of his contract could save the team about $1 million. On the lighter side, the Hawks Twitter account wished Nogueira a Happy Birthday on Saturday.

The Hawks are close to buying out the contract of Lucas Nogueira.

The team is reportedly concerned about him going overseas to Spain and the move could save them just under $1 million. Nogueira had some impressive highlights in summer leagues with a slew of dunks while protecting the rim. He's extremely raw, so it might be a while before he makes an impact in the NBA.

The Hawks must decide whether to return first-round pick Lucas Nogueira to Europe to keep him in the NBA this season.

Nogueira is extremely raw and needs to add serious muscle to his seven-foot frame. He would likely get a lot more playing time in Spain, but if his body is the main concern, even Nogueira admits he's probably better off to remain with the Hawks. "I know I can improve my game in Spain. I improved so much this year from last year," Nogueira said. "Right now, the most important thing is my body. I can’t improve my body in Spain. I’m perfect to stay here because the most important thing is to improve my body."

Lucas Nogueira played 29 minutes against the Clippers on Friday and had 10 points, eight boards, two assists, one steal and one block.

The seven-footer has ridiculous length with a 7'6" wingspan and he was a force on the offensive glass with three boards on that end on Friday. Nogueira is extremely raw and wasn't really given an opportunity to create his own shot, so he's unlikely to make an impact in the NBA his first year.

The Celtics selected big man Lucas Nogueira out of Brazil with the 16th pick in the draft, but he'll end up in Atlanta after a series of trades.

Dallas and Boston swapped picks earlier in the draft, and then the Mavericks moved this pick to the Hawks. The big man can run the floor and gives the Hawks a center they coveted, but we doubt this move will free Al Horford from his dream of moving from center to power forward in Atlanta anytime soon -- as Chris Mannix is reporting the Hawks will likely stash him overseas. Dallas traded the 16th pick and SG Jared Cunningham to the Hawks for two picks - No. 18 and 44, in order to get Nogueira and Cunningham.

According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Lucas Nogueira will withdraw from the draft.

We reported yesterday that the Brazilian center was considering pulling out, and today is the deadline for prospects to make the final decision. Nogueira is incredibly raw and just 18 years old, so some further seasoning overseas would be good for his development.

Lucas Nogueira is reportedly considering withdrawing his name from the June 23 NBA draft.

Despite being projected as a back-end first round selection, Nogueira has shown to be extremely raw in his workouts and doesn't appear close to being ready for an NBA game. With a strong possibility of a lockout, it might not be the worst decision for the Brazilian center, who has plenty of time ahead of him considering that he's just 18 years old.

Brazilian center Lucas Nogueira did not help his draft stock during the first day of Eurocamp on Saturday, thanks to his raw skills and immaturity.

One GM who was in attendance described Nogueira as "So raw...so raw, and he's out there on the court laughing with all the guys – it's like, ‘get serious.'" DraftExpress has Nogueira going late in the first round, but the lanky center may now slip into the second round.

The Boston Celtics had Brazilian center Lucas Nogueira in for a workout on Tuesday.

The team had 11 total participants in the workout, but Nogueira was the most notable name. As ESPN Boston's Chris Forsberg notes, Nogueira is a potential first-round pick. Should the Celtics decide to pursue help in the middle, and we definitely think they should, Nogueira has serious sleeper potential despite being extraordinarily raw.
