Lucas Nogueira sustained a muscle tear in his right calf, and he was treated with a platelet-rich plasma injection (PRP) to enhance the healing process.
He will not play on Friday and he is out indefinitely. This is the second calf injury for Bebe since the preseason, and now he's likely out for multiple weeks to recover. He was starting to play well, but now it'll be Jakob Poeltl getting all the backup minutes at center. Plus, Pascal Siakam could benefit with more Serge Ibaka at the five as well. Poeltl is worth a look if you're in search of a big man. Dec 1 - 5:46 PM

Lucas Nogueira will undergo an MRI on his strained right calf on Thursday evening.

The oft-injured forward suffered the injury on Wednesday and didn't return, but we'll have a better idea about the severity following the MRI. If Bebe misses time, Jonas Valanciunas, Jakob Poeltl and even Pascal Siakam could pick up more run.

Lucas Nogueira suffered a strained right calf on Wednesday and will not return.

He removed himself from this game and went to the locker room under his own power. We'll know more about the severity after the game, but it's worth a mention Bebe had a calf problem in the preseason. If he's out, Jakob Poeltl should see consistent minutes around 20, which gives him value in deeper leagues.
Nov 29 - 9:49 PM

Lucas Nogueira went to the locker room on Wednesday.

He took himself out of the game with a limp as he made it back to the locker room. There have been a lot of locker room visits tonight, and hopefully Nogueira is OK. If he's out, Jakob Poeltl would get all of the backup minutes.
Nov 29 - 9:40 PM

Lucas Nogueira blocked three shots with six points, four rebounds and two steals in 17 minutes vs. the Knicks on Friday.

Coach Dwane Casey mentioned the possibility of using Bebe at the four tonight with Serge Ibaka (knee) out, but it never happened. Instead, the Raptors used a three-man center rotation with Jonas Valanciunas (four points, five rebounds) playing 19 minutes and Jakob Poeltl (eight points, two blocks) playing 12 minutes. We love Nogueira's upside, but the frontcourt rotation is too crowded.
Nov 17 - 11:08 PM

Lucas Nogueira erupted for a career-high 17 points as the starting center in Monday's 99-85 win over the Blazers, and he also tied his career-high with five blocks.

Wow. It looked like Jakob Poeltl was firmly ahead of Bebe last week, but the Brazilian is back on the fantasy map with a bang. He finished 7-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from the line with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes compared to six points, five rebounds and a block for Poeltl in 18 minutes. With Serge Ibaka's (knee swelling) timetable unclear and Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) day-to-day, Bebe is worth a long look, but he could easily disappear like he's done so many times in the past.
Oct 31 - 12:46 AM

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) is starting alongside Paskal Siakam in the frontcourt on Monday vs. Portland.

The Raptors are down to three bigs with Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) and Serge Ibaka (knee) out, so Bebe should get plenty of run if his ankle holds up. Jakob Poeltl has outplayed Bebe off the bench, so he still looks like the safer fantasy play.
Oct 30 - 8:47 PM

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) is questionable to play Monday vs. Portland.

The Raptors could be forced to play a lot of small ball tonight if Nogueira ends up joining Serge Ibaka (knee) and Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) on the sidelines, and if all three of those guys are out, we'd expect to see heavy minutes fall to Pascal Siakim and Jakob Poeltl. Both Siakim and Poeltl will be on the DFS radar tonight, with Poeltl being a slightly more attractive option due to his defensive upside.
Oct 30 - 4:25 PM

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) will not play on Friday vs. the Lakers.

Paskal Siakam will start next to Serge Ibaka again, and we'll be sure to see plenty of impressive second-year center Jakob Poeltl. Once Nogueira is healthy again, his spot in the rotation may be gone.
Oct 27 - 10:26 PM

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) is listed as questionable in the game notes for Friday night's matchup against Los Angeles.

Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) is listed as out. Nogueira was unable to play Wednesday, and Pascal Siakam was inserted into the starting lineup. Siakam finished with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 21 minutes. However, the biggest beneficiary was Jakob Poeltl, who scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high 14 boards in 27 minutes off the bench. Poeltl is averaging 14.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks over the Raptors last three games. He will be heavily owned in DFS formats on Friday night.
Oct 27 - 10:41 AM

Lucas Nogueira (ankle) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Warriors.

With Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) also out, the Raptors will be very thin at center tonight. Jakob Poeltl is coming off a double-double vs. the Spurs, so he's a good bet to start and see a good chunk of minutes. Serge Ibaka will play some five and Pascal Siakam could be in the mix as well. Consider Bebe day-to-day moving forward, but he's safe to drop.
Oct 25 - 1:14 PM

Bebe Nogueira (ankle) is questionable to face the Warriors on Wednesday.

The Raptors could be shorthanded with Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) also out. If Bebe can't play in this one, Jakob Poeltl could get some extra minutes, but it does make some sense to start Serge Ibaka at the five and put Pascal Siakam in the first unit at power forward. OG Anunoby could also get more run, and he actually makes a lot of sense to get extra minutes against a team like the Warriors.
Oct 24 - 5:18 PM

Lucas Nogueira struggled in a fill-in start for Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) against the Spurs, scoring four points (1-of-4 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with five rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes.

He picked up a few fouls and was outplayed by Jakob Poeltl. Coach Dwane Casey did say that Bebe will continue to start If J-Val misses more time, but keep on mind that Valanciunas is hoping to return at some point on this road trip -- the Raptors have five more games on the road. With a tough matchup against the Warriors on Wednesday, it won't be easy for Nogueira to bounce back. The Warriors are playing more small ball these days as well.
Oct 24 - 12:31 AM

Lucas Nogueira will draw the start in place of Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) on Monday vs. the Spurs.

Nogueira started the second half of Saturday's game vs. Philly when J-Val left the game, finishing with 10 points with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 16 minutes. J-Val is hopeful to return on this six-game road trip, but coach Dwane Casey said Nogueira will start until he's cleared to return. Give him a look if you need to stream some blocks this week.
Oct 23 - 7:11 PM

Bebe Nogueira started the second half for Jonas Valanciunas (ankle), scoring 10 points with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 16 minutes against the 76ers.

He started the second half and he would be looking at minutes in the first unit while JV is out. Nogueira can block a ton of shots and could get around 20-24 minutes, so he's worth a look for a short-term, speculative boost. Valanciunas is getting an MRI on Sunday.
