Nikola Vucevic plans to improve 3-point shooting over the summer.
Vucevic attempted only 26 triples over his first five NBA seasons but launched 73 treys in 2016-17. He plans to spend the offseason improving his stroke, as he is shooting only 28.8 percent from downtown. "It's definitely something I want to add to my game. I think it’s going to help myself a lot as well as the team," said Vucevic. His coach, Frank Vogel, agrees. "If he carries the threat to the 3-point line, it improves everybody else on the floor," Vogel said. This is something to keep in mind on draft day next October. Apr 11 - 9:51 AM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot over 27 minutes in Monday's 122-75 loss at Chicago.

Vucevic moved past Shaquille O'Neal (3,691) for second place on the team's all-time rebounding list. He is finishing up strong and it's great news for fantasy owners who feared the Magic might shut him down at some point. He has 10 or more rebounds in each of his five April outings.
Apr 10 - 11:58 PM

Nikola Vucevic had just six points, 10 rebounds, a steal and a block in Tuesday's ugly loss to the Cavaliers.

The Cavs won the third quarter 43-20 in the 122-120 blowout so there was a lot of garbage time in this game. The Magic are out of the playoffs and have nothing to play for, but have been rolling their guys out there. But that plan could change at any time, so keep an eye out for news on all of Orlando's starters.
Apr 4 - 9:47 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored 27 points with 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one triple in 32 minutes vs. the Nets on Saturday.

With just five games remaining on the schedule, there still hasn't been any indication from the Magic that they will rest or shut down their franchise center. Vooch snapped out of his funk tonight and hit 13-of-20 from the field with three turnovers, and after Tuesday's game vs. the Cavaliers, he gets to look forward to another tasty matchup with the Nets on Thursday.
Apr 1 - 9:14 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored eight points with seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 27 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.

It's just a bad game for Vooch, but he hasn't played particularly well lately on the offensive end. The Magic have not said anything about resting him, so his fantasy owners can throw him out there unless there's a change in how the Magic feel about the lottery.
Mar 31 - 11:26 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored 16 points during a 115-87 win over the Pistons on Friday, adding eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block in just 26 minutes.

Since that ankle flare up last week, Vucevic has been fantastic in the last four. With the Magic going 3-1 in those, Vooch averaged 18.5 points, 12.5 boards, 4.5 dimes and 1.0 blocks. The Magic almost have no chance at a top-three lotto spot and could easily fall to the bottom half of the lottery with more wins. Based on that, maybe the Magic take it easy on Vooch. Keep rolling him out there as long as he's active, of course.
Mar 24 - 9:42 PM

Nikola Vucevic came up big vs. Charlotte, finishing Wednesday's tough home loss with 14 points (6-of-12 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 12 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks, one steal and one turnovers in 30 minutes.

Vuc felt soreness in his troublesome right Achilles this weekend, but he looked sharp on Monday and obviously wasn't at all limited tonight. Considering how tricky Achilles injuries can be, and the fact that Orlando has the fourth-worst record in the NBA, Vucevic's owners have to be overjoyed with his recent production.
Mar 22 - 9:35 PM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and a steal over 36 minutes in Monday's 112-109 win against the 76ers.

Vucevic has back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in five games since returning from a four-game absence due to an Achilles' tendon injury. He is a rebound machine, averaging 12.4 boards in the past five outings, two more than his season average. As long as the Magic continue to make an effort and not tank then Vucevic will be a good fantasy option. However, keep in mind they could pull his plug at any time.
Mar 20 - 11:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic (right Achilles) will be in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the 76ers.

Vucevic was unable to practice on Sunday after his Achilles flared up on him, but the fact that he won't be missing any game-time action is very encouraging, and owners in season-long settings shouldn't hesitate to get him active. Elfrid Payton, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon will join Vuc in the starting five tonight.

Nikola Vucevic did not practice Sunday because his right Achilles tendon flared up.

Not good. The problem occurred because he played both games of the back-to-back set on Thursday and Friday. On top of that, Vucevic also had a right ankle sprain on Thursday, so that likely didn't help the situation. The Magic are playing for lottery balls and are sitting in the No. 4 spot, so the incentive to play Vooch continues to drop. His owners will have to check back for an update tomorrow, but he's a risky player to start right now. Bismack Biyombo would be a blocks and boards specialist while Stephen Zimmerman could be in the rotation.
Mar 19 - 4:46 PM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) scored 18 points against the Suns on Friday during a 109-103 win, adding 17 rebounds, two assists and three steals.

He did tweak his ankle on Thursday and was a game-time call, but clearly Vooch looked great and had his jumper working. In other news, he had some very interesting comments after Thursday's loss to the Warriors. "Not only in effort, but I think they also outsmarted us," Vucevic said. "Some basic basketball stuff we couldn’t cover, and it’s frustrating that at this level we can’t cover simple things like switches and stuff like that." Moving forward, Vooch's fantasy owners will have to hope his Achilles holds up with the Magic holding the No. 4 spot in the lottery.
Mar 18 - 2:12 AM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) will start against the Suns on Friday.

On Thursday, he tweaked his left ankle when he tried to block on shot on Stephen Curry and he landed on Curry's foot. Vucevic had some interesting comments after Thursday's game and said the Warriors "outsmarted" them, so maybe that is some added motivation to play today. He should get decent minutes tonight, but he'll be a shutdown candidate in a couple weeks.
Mar 17 - 9:14 PM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) is a game-time call vs. the Suns on Friday night.

He rolled his ankle vs. the Warriors on Thursday night, but with the Magic racing the Suns to the bottom of the NBA standings, Orlando might be cautious on the second night of a back-to-back set. If Vooch can't go, Bismack Biyombo would likely get the start and would be a nice source of rebounds and blocks. He's a poor free throw shooter, though.
Mar 17 - 8:40 PM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots in 32 minutes Monday against the Jazz.

Vucevic is averaging 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots over two games since returning from an Achilles' injury. While he just missed out on his 30th double-double of the season, he was able to drop in three 3-pointers to help out fantasy owners in rotisserie leagues. However, be on the lookout for signs of the Magic tanking down the stretch. If they go that avenue then Vucevic is a prime candidate to collect DNP-CDs.
Mar 14 - 1:16 AM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) returned from a four-game absence on Saturday vs. the Cavaliers and didn't miss a beat, scoring 20 points with 16 rebounds.

This was his 29th double-double and his eighth game with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds this season. Vucevic hit nine shots on a team-high 20 field goal attempts with one block, but he only hit 2-of-4 free throws -- that's been an issue for him this season and he was shooting 64.9 percent from the line prior to Saturday. The good news is that he looked spry with seven offensive rebounds, but with the Magic clearly tanking, Vooch is a candidate for more DNPs down the stretch. The Magic also play just six times over the next two weeks.
