Nikola Vucevic said that he'll play for Montenegro's national team in the future, but only if they replace current head coach Luka Pavicevic.
Vucevic had a small role during EuroBasket 2013, which could be the root of his problems with coach Pavicevic. Montenegro failed to qualify for next year's European Championship and their program could certainly use a player of Vuc's caliber -- he's coming off a strong NBA season in which he averaged a career-high 14.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said that he can see that Nikola Vucevic is becoming more comfortable on the basketball court.

"He’s feeling more comfortable on the floor," Vaughn said. "Even when he gets the ball in the post, the comfort level of seeing cutters and passing out of the post. I just think he’s more comfortable." Vucevic's rebounding has been a constant, but he'll need to work on establishing himself as a consistent scorer during his third season in Orlando. If Vucevic can stay healthy (he only made it through 57 games last season), while taking another step-up in the scoring department, he can be a very rewarding early-mid-round selection.
Jul 28 - 4:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic and the Magic are expected to talk about a contract extension around Labor Day.

He'll be able to get an extension before the season starts, or else he'll be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2015. Vucevic caught a huge break in the Dwight Howard trade and his skills have been maximized by the Magic. He doesn't have any competition yet again and should be able to post double-doubles on a regular basis.
Jul 10 - 8:56 PM

The Magic will be able to extend Nikola Vucevic's contract between July and November first, and he has said he'd like to stay in Orlando.

If an extension isn't reached, Vucevic would be a restricted free agent next summer, giving the Magic the right to match any offer he may receive. Vucevic had a nice season that ended early due to an Achilles injury.
Apr 17 - 12:06 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) has been ruled out for the season by the team.

It's a strange story for Vucevic and his injury suddenly popped up on Apr. 4. He was ruled out minutes before that game tipped and it will cost him the final seven games of the year. He built off his breakout 2012-13 with averages of 14.2 points, 11.0 boards and 0.8 blocks in 2013-14, so the Magic probably won't be looking to replace him in the draft. Vucevic be a No. 1 center option in fantasy leagues next season. Kyle O'Quinn is still a must-start player while Tobias Harris also gets some added value.
Apr 13 - 4:47 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play in Friday's game against the Wizards.

It will be Vucevic's fourth straight game on the sideline. The Magic aren't shutting him down though, as he will travel with the team for their Sunday/Monday road swing at Brooklyn and Chicago. Look for unappealing Dewayne Dedmon to draw another start at center Friday night.
Apr 11 - 10:26 AM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play vs. the Nets on Wednesday.

His left Achilles tendon is still too sore for Orlando to risk playing him in a somewhat meaningless game. His absence should result in another start at center for Dewayne Dedmon, though the Magic may go smaller with Kyle O'Quinn at center and Andrew Nicholson at PF.
Apr 9 - 10:40 AM

Nikola Vucevic's sore Achilles tendon is feeling better on Tuesday, but the Magic will reevaluate him after today's practice.

It sounds like he should play on Wednesday against the Nets, but owners will want to continue to watch for further updates prior to that game.
Apr 8 - 11:14 AM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play vs. the Timberwolves on Saturday, according to coach Jacque Vaughn.

Vuc ruled himself out on Friday after feeling sore during pre-game warmups, and the Magic will undoubtedly play it safe with their prized big man this late in the season. His absence will shift Dewayne Dedmon into the starting lineup at C with Kyle O'Quinn staying at PF. The Wolves' big men are also sure to benefit from Vucevic's absence.
Apr 5 - 5:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic said his left Achilles tendon became "more and more sore" while going through his pre-game routine on Friday, which forced him to sit out vs. the Bobcats.

Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said the team was being "cautious" by resting Vucevic, whose last-second DNP came as a rude surprise for many fantasy owners. "I don't know how it just got sore on me," he said. "That hasn't bothered me before. Maybe it was something I did [to cause the injury], but I don't remember doing it." Orlando's schedule leaves minimal room for recovery as they take the court again vs. the Wolves on Saturday, and owners should consider him questionable due to his mysterious Achilles pain.
Apr 5 - 1:48 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play against the Bobcats on Friday.

He went through warmups and did agility drills, but he wasn't well enough to play. This is a crippling blow to fantasy owners with the news not coming until after the 7:00 EDT tip time. Kyle O'Quinn slid over to center and Andrew Nicholson made his way into the starting lineup. We'll update Vucevic's status as the info becomes available.
Apr 4 - 7:08 PM

The Magic fell 93-98 at home on Sunday despite a strong game from Nikola Vucevic, who scored 22 points with 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks.

The 23-year-old center made 10-of-13 shots and he's now scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the first time in his NBA career. Orlando's stretch of three-game weeks has been a drag for fantasy owners but at least Vucevic is heating up at the right time.
Mar 30 - 8:35 PM

Nikola Vucevic went off in the Magic's 110-105 overtime win over the Bobcats on Friday, scoring 24 points on 11-of-22 shooting with 23 rebounds and one assist.

Vooch didn't have any steals or blocks but we're pretty sure most folks are okay with that. Maurice Harkless maintained some low-end appeal with nine points, five boards, one steal, three blocks and a trey, and Kyle O'Quinn was his normal steady self with 13 points, seven boards and two blocks in the win.
Mar 28 - 10:09 PM

Nikola Vucevic made 10-of-18 field goals to finish Tuesday's victory with 22 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, one block and only one turnover in 33 minutes.

Vuc has alternated good and bad games for the past two weeks, but hopefully he sustains some momentum for Orlando's final games this week on Friday (vs. Portland) and Sunday (vs. Charlotte).
Mar 25 - 9:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored only four points on 2-of-9 shooting vs. the Lakers on Sunday, his lowest-scoring game in over 10 weeks.

Vucevic had some foul trouble but he still logged 35 minutes. The bigger problems are his sporadic involvement offensively, his paltry 0.3 blocks per game in March, and his typical inability to get to the FT line -- the career 70.1 percent FT shooter is getting the line 2.1 times per game this month. To make matters worse, the Magic don't have any four-game weeks left on their schedule.
