Nikola Vucevic scored 16 points during a 115-87 win over the Pistons on Friday, adding eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block in just 26 minutes.
Since that ankle flare up last week, Vucevic has been fantastic in the last four. With the Magic going 3-1 in those, Vooch averaged 18.5 points, 12.5 boards, 4.5 dimes and 1.0 blocks. The Magic almost have no chance at a top-three lotto spot and could easily fall to the bottom half of the lottery with more wins. Based on that, maybe the Magic take it easy on Vooch. Keep rolling him out there as long as he's active, of course. Mar 24 - 9:42 PM

Nikola Vucevic came up big vs. Charlotte, finishing Wednesday's tough home loss with 14 points (6-of-12 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 12 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks, one steal and one turnovers in 30 minutes.

Vuc felt soreness in his troublesome right Achilles this weekend, but he looked sharp on Monday and obviously wasn't at all limited tonight. Considering how tricky Achilles injuries can be, and the fact that Orlando has the fourth-worst record in the NBA, Vucevic's owners have to be overjoyed with his recent production.
Mar 22 - 9:35 PM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and a steal over 36 minutes in Monday's 112-109 win against the 76ers.

Vucevic has back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in five games since returning from a four-game absence due to an Achilles' tendon injury. He is a rebound machine, averaging 12.4 boards in the past five outings, two more than his season average. As long as the Magic continue to make an effort and not tank then Vucevic will be a good fantasy option. However, keep in mind they could pull his plug at any time.
Mar 20 - 11:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic (right Achilles) will be in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the 76ers.

Vucevic was unable to practice on Sunday after his Achilles flared up on him, but the fact that he won't be missing any game-time action is very encouraging, and owners in season-long settings shouldn't hesitate to get him active. Elfrid Payton, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon will join Vuc in the starting five tonight.

Nikola Vucevic did not practice Sunday because his right Achilles tendon flared up.

Not good. The problem occurred because he played both games of the back-to-back set on Thursday and Friday. On top of that, Vucevic also had a right ankle sprain on Thursday, so that likely didn't help the situation. The Magic are playing for lottery balls and are sitting in the No. 4 spot, so the incentive to play Vooch continues to drop. His owners will have to check back for an update tomorrow, but he's a risky player to start right now. Bismack Biyombo would be a blocks and boards specialist while Stephen Zimmerman could be in the rotation.
Mar 19 - 4:46 PM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) scored 18 points against the Suns on Friday during a 109-103 win, adding 17 rebounds, two assists and three steals.

He did tweak his ankle on Thursday and was a game-time call, but clearly Vooch looked great and had his jumper working. In other news, he had some very interesting comments after Thursday's loss to the Warriors. "Not only in effort, but I think they also outsmarted us," Vucevic said. "Some basic basketball stuff we couldn’t cover, and it’s frustrating that at this level we can’t cover simple things like switches and stuff like that." Moving forward, Vooch's fantasy owners will have to hope his Achilles holds up with the Magic holding the No. 4 spot in the lottery.
Mar 18 - 2:12 AM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) will start against the Suns on Friday.

On Thursday, he tweaked his left ankle when he tried to block on shot on Stephen Curry and he landed on Curry's foot. Vucevic had some interesting comments after Thursday's game and said the Warriors "outsmarted" them, so maybe that is some added motivation to play today. He should get decent minutes tonight, but he'll be a shutdown candidate in a couple weeks.
Mar 17 - 9:14 PM

Nikola Vucevic (ankle) is a game-time call vs. the Suns on Friday night.

He rolled his ankle vs. the Warriors on Thursday night, but with the Magic racing the Suns to the bottom of the NBA standings, Orlando might be cautious on the second night of a back-to-back set. If Vooch can't go, Bismack Biyombo would likely get the start and would be a nice source of rebounds and blocks. He's a poor free throw shooter, though.
Mar 17 - 8:40 PM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots in 32 minutes Monday against the Jazz.

Vucevic is averaging 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots over two games since returning from an Achilles' injury. While he just missed out on his 30th double-double of the season, he was able to drop in three 3-pointers to help out fantasy owners in rotisserie leagues. However, be on the lookout for signs of the Magic tanking down the stretch. If they go that avenue then Vucevic is a prime candidate to collect DNP-CDs.
Mar 14 - 1:16 AM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) returned from a four-game absence on Saturday vs. the Cavaliers and didn't miss a beat, scoring 20 points with 16 rebounds.

This was his 29th double-double and his eighth game with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds this season. Vucevic hit nine shots on a team-high 20 field goal attempts with one block, but he only hit 2-of-4 free throws -- that's been an issue for him this season and he was shooting 64.9 percent from the line prior to Saturday. The good news is that he looked spry with seven offensive rebounds, but with the Magic clearly tanking, Vooch is a candidate for more DNPs down the stretch. The Magic also play just six times over the next two weeks.
Mar 11 - 9:54 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will return to the starting lineup against the Cavs on Saturday.

After missing the last four games with his Achilles soreness, he should be back out there for minutes in the upper 20s. Considering the Magic are going nowhere fast and they need their draft pick, it's a good bet that Vooch will be missing another game. He should be a must-start player when active.
Mar 11 - 5:24 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) is listed as questionable in the game notes for Saturday's matchup with the Cavs.

The game notes are often unreliable, so we will have to wait for an official update from coach Frank Vogel or the team later this afternoon. For what it's worth, Vucevic, who has missed four straight games, was doing individual workouts Friday morning and was a game-time decision for Friday night's contest.

Mar 11 - 12:48 PM

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) has been ruled out of Friday's game vs. Charlotte.

This will be the fourth straight game Vucevic has missed due to the Achilles issue. He was a game-time decision on Friday so it appears he is inching closer to a return. He has a chance to make his return on Saturday vs. Cleveland, although the Magic have nothing to play for this season and, thus, have no reason to rush Vucevic back. Bismack Biyombo will draw another start on Friday and is a strong DFS play once again.
Mar 10 - 5:34 PM

According to coach Frank Vogel, Nikola Vucevic (sore right Achilles) will be a game-time decision Friday night vs. Charlotte.

Vucevic, who has missed three straight games, was doing individual workouts Friday morning; however, Orlando will have to wait to see how Vooch responds after warming up prior to Friday night's contest before determining his availability. If Vucevic is unable to suit up, Bismack Biyombo will draw another start at center. Biyombo is averaging 10.0 points and 11.7 rebounds in 37.1 minutes in the three games he has started in place of Vucevic.
Mar 10 - 12:21 PM

Nikola Vucevic (sore right Achilles) will not play Wednesday vs. the Bulls.

This will be Vucevic's third straight game on the sidelines, and it's not really clear exactly when he'll be able to return to the court. Both Rudy Gay and Avery Bradley spent significant time on the sidelines earlier this season with Achilles issues, and with Orlando playing for absolutely nothing, there's not much incentive for Vuc to rush back to the court. Bismack Biyombo will be earning another start tonight, and he'll be going for his third double-double in a row.
