Kelvin Sampson could be Orlando's prime target for their coaching vacancy, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
The Magic have been the quietest about their pursuit of a coach, so this is an interesting report from one of the best. Sampson has been coaching at the University of Houston, but he spent time in the NBA as an assistant with the Bucks and Rockets from 2008-14. He's been a head coach in the NCAA on and off since the 1980s, but this would be his first head coaching gig in the NBA. May 16 - 4:03 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored two points with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 12 minutes against the Wizards on Wednesday.

Besides not getting playing time in the second half, Vucevic wasn't affected by tanking too much. He only missed two games since returning from his wrist injury, so his fantasy owners should be fairly happy with the output late. Next year, he should still be with the Magic with the team almost a lock to take a point guard.
Apr 11 - 11:32 PM

Nikola Vucevic hit 8-of-17 shots for 17 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in 29 minutes of Monday's 102-86 loss to the Bucks.

Vuc has been playing well and while there was a chance he could have rested tonight, he was out there powering through it and playing well. We'll have to see if plays in Wednesday's finale against the Wizards, but if he's starting in that one, you'll want him in your fantasy lineup. Aaron Gordon, Mario Hezonja, Khem Birch and Bismack Biyombo all played decently for the Magic, but Vuc was the star in a meaningless game.
Apr 9 - 10:49 PM

Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon will be in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with Milwaukee.

The Magic are on the second leg of a back-to-back set, so there was some fear that one of these guys could hit the sidelines, but that will not be the case. Joining these two in the starting five will be Mario Hezonja, D.J. Augustin and Wes Iwundu.

Nikola Vucevic (back) returned from a one-game absence on Sunday vs. the Raptors, scoring 10 points with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in 23 minutes.

We're a little skeptical that he had an injury and you could say the same for a lot of veterans on tanking teams around the NBA. The Magic do play again on Monday vs. the Bucks, so fantasy owners should be on the lookout for possible rest. If Vucevic does sit, that would open things up for both Bismack Biyombo and Khem Birch.
Apr 8 - 8:45 PM

Nikola Vucevic (back) will play on Sunday vs. the Raptors.

He was listed as probable after getting another night off. This is the front end of a back-to-back and the Magic have been pretty obvious about tanking, so we'd expect Vucevic to sit on Monday vs. the Bucks. Bismack Biyombo and Khem Birch lose their streaming appeal when Vucevic is active.
Apr 8 - 4:41 PM

Nikola Vucevic (back) is listed as probable for Sunday's game vs. the Raptors.

Vucevic sat out Friday's contest, alongside Aaron Gordon (calf, tanking), but both bigs will return to action on Sunday. However, the Magic play the back end of a back-to-back on Monday in Milwaukee, so it's possible they get another day off. Bismack Biyombo started Friday night, but will get bumped back to the bench Sunday.
Apr 7 - 11:42 AM

Nikola Vucevic (back) will not play on Friday against the Hornets.

Well, there's a chance he is done for the season after missing Wednesday. Bismack Biyombo will start with Khem Birch getting another chance. Expect close to a 24-24 minute split. Daily Slant: With Gordon, Vucevic and all other inactive/non-rotation members off the floor, Mario Hezonja is averaging 0.96 fantasy points per minute which at his current price makes him a strong DFS target industry wide. Shelvin Mack picks up +4.9% usage and also adds a +0.16 FPPM bump, so he is also on the GPP radar.
Apr 6 - 5:30 PM

Nikola Vucevic (rest) will not play Wednesday against the Mavs.

The Magic sit in the No. 4 lottery spot and the Mavs are right behind them at five with a half-game between them, so you can probably figure out why Vooch is out. This sets up Khem Birch for what looks like his biggest opportunity of his career while Bismack Biyombo should get 20 minutes.
Apr 4 - 5:05 PM

Nikola Vucevic finished with 10 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three blocked and two steals across 31 minutes in Sunday's 94-88 win against the Hawks for his 27th double-double of the season.

Vucevic's overall stat line was good enough for his fantasy owners, but he had an abysmal 3-of-19 shooting performance to cross those in 9-cat leagues needing a big day for field-goal percentage. Hey, at least he was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. He'll be back at it Tuesday in New York. The 27-year-old Swiss center has torn up the Knicks for 25.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per outing in three meetings against them this season.
Apr 1 - 8:36 PM

Nikola Vucevic notched a game-high 24 points on 11-of-21 shooting on Wednesday, adding 15 rebounds, five assists and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes.

"Our offense, obviously, hasn’t been at its best lately," Vucevic said afterward. "We are missing some guys that are a big part of our offense." The bigger issue was allowing Brooklyn to score 111 points including 54 points in the paint, but of course Orlando isn't trying to win -- they have the 4th-worst record in the league, giving them about a 12% chance for the No. 1 pick. There's been no suggestion of shutting down Vuc, fortunately, and his owners should count their blessings.
Mar 28 - 10:45 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored 24 points with 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 36 minutes against the Suns in a 105-99 win on Saturday.

Tough win for the Magic and it feels like they won't have a shot at a top-three lottery spot. In this age of tanking, fantasy owners of Magic veterans have to be enjoying how the team is approaching the finish to their season. The talk of coach Frank Vogel possibly losing his job could also be great news for Vucevic.
Mar 24 - 10:02 PM

Nikola Vucevic scored 22 points with nine rebounds, nine assists, four steals and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes against the Bucks on Wednesday.

That'll snap a five-game losing streak for the Magic to move them back to the No. 4 spot in the lottery. The Magic have talked about winning some games to end their disappointing season, so there's no word on Vucevic getting time off. Although, it'll be interesting to see if the team does want to give Khem Birch more run. Regardless, Vooch's owners can keep plugging him in until further notice.
Mar 14 - 9:51 PM

Nikola Vucevic ended up with 17 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot over 30 minutes in a road loss against the Clippers on Saturday.

Vucevic hit 8-of-20 from the floor, while adding 1-of-4 from behind the 3-point line, and he didn't get to the charity stripe. After displaying a little rust in his first few games back, Vucevic has kicked it back into high fantasy gear in March. He is averaging 18.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per outings over the past six contests since flipping the calendar from February.
Mar 11 - 1:11 AM

The Magic lost a tough game in L.A. on Wednesday, despite Nikola Vucevic putting up 24 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer.

Vuc made 11-of-18 field goals tonight and this was his highest-scoring game since Dec. 17, just before the hand fracture that sidelined him for roughly six weeks. The 27-year-old center only needs 30+ minutes for early-round value, and his role is solidified with Orlando having no incentive to give minutes to Bismack Biyombo or Marreese Speights.
