Jon Leuer was outstanding against the Pelicans on Wednesday with 20 points, 12 rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes.
He certainly didn't handle the defensive side of things with Anthony Davis going off, but Leuer is in a nice groove on offense. He's basically splitting the backup center job with Alex Len depending on the matchup. With Tyson Chandler (illness) likely back for the Warriors on Friday, Leuer is more of an 18-team stash. Jon Leuer started for Markieff Morris (knee) on Saturday with seven points, five boards, two assists and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes.

Garbage time kind of throws this game out of whack, but Leuer did only play 10 minutes in the first half and wasn't in foul trouble. Markieff Morris (knee) shouldn't be out long, so leave Leuer on the wire.
Nov 15 - 12:56 AM

Jon Leuer will start on Saturday vs. the Nuggets in place of Markieff Morris (knee).

Leuer started in place of Morris during the second half of Thursday's game and finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer. It isn't clear how much time Morris will miss, but Leuer is worth a look in deeper leagues for any owner in need of short-term value. Mirza Teletovic should see a bump in minutes off the bench as well.
Nov 14 - 8:25 PM

If Markieff Morris (knee, questionable) doesn't play on Saturday, Jon Leuer would likely start.

He stepped right into Morris' minutes on Thursday and put up a double-double. The Nuggets go small a lot, so we could see a lineup of T.J. Warren and P.J. Tucker at the forward spots. Of course, Morris may play, too.
Nov 14 - 4:01 PM

Jon Leuer started the second half in place of Markieff Morris (knee) on Thursday, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer.

As far as skill set goes, Leuer is the most like Morris. That means it kind of made sense to throw Leuer in there for Morris' minutes because coach Jeff Hornacek didn't have a plan. However, if Morris is out going forward, Hornacek probably will be using a two-SF lineup much more often in his rotation. Translation: Leuer won't be this good while Morris is out and is more of an 18-20 team pickup as a short-term asset.
Nov 13 - 1:34 AM

Jon Leuer picked up 12 minutes in a close game on Monday against the Clippers, scoring seven points with three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer.

The Suns wanted a floor-spacing five out there against the Clippers. Leuer still isn't going to get more than 15 minutes most nights and it won't be long until Alex Len gets his act together, so Leuer isn't a strong add.
Nov 3 - 1:03 AM

Jon Leuer led all Suns' reserves on Saturday with eight points, eight rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes, while hitting 2-of-3 shots from downtown.

Leuer emerged as a perimeter threat when he averaged 0.5 triples on 46.9 percent shooting from deep with Memphis in 2013-14. That aspect of his game all but vanished last season, but it appears Jeff Hornacek and the Suns want him to fire away from downtown. A 20-minute role at least puts him on the radar.
Nov 1 - 12:31 AM

Jon Leuer scored 14 points off the bench on Wednesday with seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes.

He spent plenty of time at center. Interestingly, the lineup he saw the most time with tonight was Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Brandon Knight and Archie Goodwin -- which was the second most-used lineup tonight. That's all you need to know about how much this game should be thrown out for the Suns.
Oct 29 - 3:47 AM

Suns PF Jon Leuer scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds vs. the Kings on Wednesday, and he threw down an impressive dunk against DeMarcus Cousins in transition.

The Twitter-hyperbole machine kicked into gear following Leuer's dunk, but it's still worth watching via the link below. Leuer is a blue-collar big man who fills a niche in the Suns' rotation without providing any fantasy upside whatsoever.
Oct 8 - 1:25 AM

The Suns will keep Jon Leuer, who was acquired in exchange for the 44th pick during the NBA Draft.

Leuer's contract for the 2015-16 season becomes guaranteed on Tuesday, so it's safe to expect to see him in a Suns uniform next season. Markieff Morris is locked in as the starting power forward and Marcus Morris and T.J. Warren could see some time at the four as well, so it will be tough for Leuer to carve out a substantial role.
Jun 27 - 10:01 AM

The Suns acquired Jon Leuer in a trade on Thursday night.

He was basically traded for Andrew Harrison. Leuer was obsolete with the Grizzlies grabbing a power forward, Jarrell Martin, in the first round. Leuer can stretch the floor and he has a chance for minutes off the bench. He's nowhere near being on the fantasy radar yet, though.
Jun 26 - 3:24 AM

Jon Leuer (lower back contusion) is questionable to play against the Bucks on Saturday.

He took a bad spill on Thursday night and played through the injury. The Grizzlies are expected to have Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph back for tomorrow, so Leuer won't be needed.
Mar 13 - 5:17 PM

Jon Leuer started at PF on Tuesday with Zach Randolph (knee) still sidelined, but he scored only four points with two rebounds in 10 minutes.

Jarnell Stokes played four minutes and Kosta Koufos played 12 minutes, but the biggest winner in Z-Bo's absence has been Tayshaun Prince, who had 12 points, six boards and three assists in 34 minutes off the bench. Z-Bo remains day-to-day and could miss a few more games, but Leuer belongs on your waiver wire.
Tue, Dec 30, 2014 11:11:00 PM

Jon Leuer played 23 minutes in a start against the Heat on Saturday with five points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

He scored just four points with three boards in a start on Friday, so the Johnny Basketball bandwagon is getting a little light. Leuer can be dropped in most leagues with Zach Randolph (knee) getting closer to a return.
Sat, Dec 27, 2014 10:30:00 PM

Jon Leuer will start in place of Zach Randolph (knee) for Friday's game vs. the Rockets.

Leuer had a nice outing during his last start, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds over 30 minutes of action. He looks like a nice low-budget plug-and-play option tonight.
