Date:

Jon Leuer (ankle) will have season-ending surgery on Friday.

2017-18 has been a lost season for Leuer. He played in only eight games, with his final appearance coming back on Halloween. Hopefully, this surgery to correct ankle issues he's been dealing with for years will put him on track to return fully healthy for training camp next September. He should obviously be left on waivers in all fantasy formats.

Jon Leuer (ankle) still doesn't have a timetable to return.

Leuer said he's had problems with his left ankle since he was a kid, and he added that there’s a bone fragment that’s stuck in his ligament that is causing the majority of the pain. Surgery is on the table, but Leuer is hopeful to return this season. "Hopefully not the whole season, but that’s something that … I would cross that bridge when I get there."

Jon Leuer (ankle) may need surgery according to coach Stan Van Gundy.

"I can't tell him to play and I can't tell him to go get surgery," Van Gundy said. "At that point, if we've gone another 12 days and we haven't had anything change, he's going to have to make some decisions on what he wants to do." Leuer is going to be reevaluated this weekend, but if he doesn't show any progress then surgery is obviously on the table.
Jan 4 - 10:35 AM

Jon Leuer (ankle) will be re-evaluated this weekend.

Leuer has not played since injuring his ankle all the way back on Halloween. Last month, it was reported that Leuer was targeting a return in late December, but that target date has come and gone. We'll see what the re-evaluation reveals early next week, but Leuer should be left on the waiver wire.
Jan 2 - 1:34 PM

Stan Van Gundy said on Sunday that Jon Leuer (ankle) is essentially two weeks away from being two weeks away.

Leuer was hopeful to get back on the court by late-December, but that seems like a long-shot at this point. Anthony Tolliver and Eric Moreland will continue to pick up the backup big man minutes in Leuer's absence, but none of these guys are worth rostering in most leagues.

Jon Leuer (ankle) could miss up to six weeks after receiving a joint lubrication injection on Monday.

Coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters that the timetable for Leuer’s return is difficult to predict. Depending on how he reacts to the treatment, it could be mid-January. "Two to four weeks after the injection is when they would start to ramp him back up, so you’d have some time after that too," said Van Gundy. "You’re looking 3-5 or 4-6 [weeks] or something like that." Anthony Tolliver and Eric Moreland will continue to soak up additional minutes in his absence.

Jon Leuer is getting an injection in his left ankle on Monday and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.

Leuer has been out since Halloween, but at least we finally have a timetable. In the meantime, Anthony Tolliver and Eric Moreland will continue to see a handful of minutes off the bench.

Jon Leuer (ankle) is listed as out for Friday's game vs. the Wizards.

This is not surprising, as it was announced on Thursday that Leuer was headed to Indianapolis for a second opinion on his sprained left ankle. He will need to get a couple of full practices in before returning to game action, so it's unlikely we see him suit up soon. He should be left on waivers.

Jon Leuer (ankle) is going to Indianapolis for a second opinion on his sprained left ankle.

Leuer has been out since Halloween and there's still no known timetable for his return. We'll continue to list him as out indefinitely, but we'll be on the lookout for an update following his visit to Indy.

Jon Leuer (ankle) did some shooting on Saturday.

He did some work on a treadmill, but Leuer doesn't have a timetable to return. It's been Eric Moreland picking up most of the minutes behind Andre Drummond. Anthony Tolliver, Luke Kennard and Langston Galloway have also helped out as the Pistons tend to go smaller more often.

Jon Leuer (ankle) will not play on Friday vs. the Thunder.

He's still not practicing and the Pistons haven't been very transparent, as the results of his MRI are still not known. Anthony Tolliver and Eric Moreland will continue to pick up a handful of minutes in his absence.

Jon Leuer (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.

We still haven't heard official word on the results of his second MRI, but with him skipping practice, we're going to have to consider him doubtful for Friday's game in OKC. Eric Moreland and Anthony Tolliver will continue to split Leuer's minutes.

Jon Leuer (ankle) will not play on Monday vs. the Cavaliers.

Coach Stan Van Gundy hasn't heard back from Leuer about his second MRI, so we could potentially have another update this evening. With Leuer out, Eric Moreland and Anthony Tolliver will likely split the few minutes that Leuer was playing before the injury.
Mon, Nov 20, 2017 07:06:00 PM

Jon Leuer (ankle) is doubtful to play Monday vs. the Cavs.

Stan Van Gundy said that he hasn't had a chance to talk with Leuer and that he doesn't know yet if he's undergone that second MRI, which indicates that Leuer won't be taking the floor tonight. His likely absence is more or less irrelevant in fantasy hoops.
