Jon Leuer had another productive game on Friday, notching 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes off the bench.
Marcus Morris got in some early foul trouble tonight, which helped Leuer's case, but he's been an extremely valuable player for Detroit's second unit all season. So far in November he's averaging 11.1 points on 48.3 percent shooting, 0.8 threes, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.5 blocks and just 0.8 turnovers. That's good enough for late-round value in standard roto leagues. Nov 25 - 10:11 PM

Jon Leuer played 31 minutes against the Rockets on Monday, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds, one block and two turnovers.

Thanks to Tobias Harris getting into foul trouble, Leuer picked up some extra burn. The Pistons playing in so many blowouts has helped Leuer get to 26 minutes per game this season. It's also helped that both Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris can play the three -- he's played next to both in each of the 15 games this season for about 12 minutes per game each. Leuer may not crack the top 100 like he is right now, but he's a solid guy to own in competitive leagues.
Nov 22 - 12:21 AM

Jon Leuer missed all seven of his shot attempts Saturday, ending his night with just six rebounds, three assists and zero points through 21 minutes of action.

Leuer was coming off back-to-back double-digit scoring outings, but he seems to have a knack for falling off at a moments notice. He is putting up sneaky late-round value on the year in 9-cat leagues, which is helped by the fact he just doesn't turn the ball over (0.6) per game, but he's not necessarily a must-own guy.
Nov 19 - 10:27 PM

Jon Leuer led the Pistons with 15 points, seven rebounds and one triple in 27 minutes vs. the Cavs on Friday.

Believe it or not, but Leuer was the only Detroit player who scored more than nine points. He was 5-of-12 from the field and hit all four of his free throws, and this comes on the heels of a 17-point effort vs. the Knicks on Wednesday. Leuer is averaging 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.6 triples in 26.4 minutes over his last five games, so he's worth a look if you need a big.
Nov 18 - 10:54 PM

Jon Leuer hit 7-of-11 shots for a season-high 17 points, nine rebounds, a steal and two 3-pointers in 27 minutes off the Pistons bench on Wednesday.

He's averaging 11.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 0.8 3-pointers in the month of November and it's time that he's owned in most fantasy leagues. Especially with starter Marcus Morris really struggling with his shot right now.
Nov 17 - 7:15 AM

Jon Leuer came off the bench and had eight points, nine rebounds, four assists and a block in 29 minutes on Monday.

Leuer has hit double figures in three of his last five games and is averaging 11 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.6 3-pointers on 48 percent shooting over that stretch. With four games this week, Leuer is a decent fantasy play if you've got a hole in your roster.
Nov 14 - 11:08 PM

Jon Leuer scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Saturday vs. the Nuggets.

Leuer has been solid, if unspectacular, all season. He's averaging 9.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 0.8 3-pointers and 0.9 blocks in 26 minutes per game. However, Leuer would need an injury in front of him to become a significant factor in fantasy circles.
Nov 12 - 11:46 PM

Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy wants Jon Leuer to shoot the ball more.

"I think he's played well, but I think he's passed up shots," Stan Van Gundy said. "We want him shooting the ball when he's open, basically every time. Not forcing. Not hunting shots. But when he's open, shoot the ball." He's averaging 9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.7 treys in 26.5 minutes per game, but could get a nice bump in value if he increases his 7.8 FGAs per game. He has a nice role and SVG loves him, so he's a nice player to own in deeper formats.

Nov 7 - 10:18 AM

Jon Leuer posted 11 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a 3-pointer in 27 minutes on Wednesday, and he even replaced Andre Drummond for stretches of the fourth quarter.

We're not reading into Drummond's benching, which was matchup-based, and Leuer's playing time has been holding steady in the mid-to-high 20s. He's a fine deep-league option for boards, blocks and FG percentage, but most owners can ignore him.
Nov 2 - 10:29 PM

Ish Smith, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Tobias Harris, Jon Leuer and Andre Drummond are starting vs. the Bucks on Monday.

Marcus Morris (knee) and Stanley Johnson (foot) are out, while Aron Baynes (back) will likely only play in an emergency. Stan Van Gundy has been talking up Leuer all offseason and he will likely be the first big off the bench this season. He had eight points, six rebounds and two assists in his last outing.
Oct 17 - 7:01 PM

Ish Smith, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Tobias Harris, Jon Leuer and Aron Baynes will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks.

Marcus Morris (knee) and Andre Drummond (illness) will not take the court on Thursday night, which is why Leuer and Baynes are getting the start. Morris' absence could open up some more opportunity for Stanely Johnson.

Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said that Jon Leuer has surprised him at the defensive end.

"The one thing I would say I’m surprised at is he’s a lot better defensively than I thought," SVG said. "I thought he was just maybe average but he has a chance to be a lot better than that." SVG has praised Leuer all summer and said that he's been trying to acquire the big man for several years. Leuer should be big part of the second unit and could flirt with minutes in the 20s, putting him on the fantasy radar in very deep leagues.
Oct 2 - 10:37 AM

Jon Leuer is expected to see plenty of minutes next to Ish Smith this season.

This isn't a surprise to hear with how coach Stan Van Gundy runs his rotation. Last year, the Pistons starters led the NBA for minutes per game as a five-man unit -- the unit with Ersan Ilyasova was first (19.1) in the league and the Tobias Harris unit (18.5) was second. It should be similar this year, which means the second unit should be a fairly tight group. Leuer still won't have much value while the Pistons are healthy.
Sep 10 - 7:26 PM

Stan Van Gundy said that he's had his eye on Jon Leuer for a while.

"We wanted to add more size at that spot but not give up athleticism, not give up shooting, and Jon Leuer was really the only guy out there that we thought fit everything that we wanted in that spot," Van Gundy said. "Shot 38 percent from three, 6-foot-11. He’s a very good athlete with great quickness. He’s a guy we had our eye on for a couple of years and we just thought would be a really good fit to what we wanted." Tobias Harris is expected to start at the four, but Leuer could be the first big off the bench considering the Pistons gave him a four-year, $42 million deal.
Aug 15 - 1:09 PM

Jon Leuer believes he'll be a good fit with the Pistons.

"I just thought it would be a great place to develop and continue to grow my game with the system that is in place here," he said. "I feel like my ability to shoot and put the ball on the floor, to make plays for myself and for my teammates, I’d be able to do that here. And on the other end, guarding bigger guys, small guys, I feel like I can do that and help this team win and be part of a team that’s building something special here." The 27-year-old shooter is expected to see his minutes at power forward behind Tobias Harris.
