Jon Leuer is expected to see plenty of minutes next to Ish Smith this season.
This isn't a surprise to hear with how coach Stan Van Gundy runs his rotation. Last year, the Pistons starters led the NBA for minutes per game as a five-man unit -- the unit with Ersan Ilyasova was first (19.1) in the league and the Tobias Harris unit (18.5) was second. It should be similar this year, which means the second unit should be a fairly tight group. Leuer still won't have much value while the Pistons are healthy. Sep 10 - 7:26 PM

Stan Van Gundy said that he's had his eye on Jon Leuer for a while.

"We wanted to add more size at that spot but not give up athleticism, not give up shooting, and Jon Leuer was really the only guy out there that we thought fit everything that we wanted in that spot," Van Gundy said. "Shot 38 percent from three, 6-foot-11. He’s a very good athlete with great quickness. He’s a guy we had our eye on for a couple of years and we just thought would be a really good fit to what we wanted." Tobias Harris is expected to start at the four, but Leuer could be the first big off the bench considering the Pistons gave him a four-year, $42 million deal.
Aug 15 - 1:09 PM

Jon Leuer believes he'll be a good fit with the Pistons.

"I just thought it would be a great place to develop and continue to grow my game with the system that is in place here," he said. "I feel like my ability to shoot and put the ball on the floor, to make plays for myself and for my teammates, I’d be able to do that here. And on the other end, guarding bigger guys, small guys, I feel like I can do that and help this team win and be part of a team that’s building something special here." The 27-year-old shooter is expected to see his minutes at power forward behind Tobias Harris.
Jul 11 - 11:50 AM

Stan Van Gundy confirmed that Jon Leuer will be in front of Henry Ellenson on the depth chart.

The Pistons signed Leuer to a four-year, $42 million deal, so obviously they're going to play him if he's getting that much money. Leuer averaged 8.5 points, 5.6 boards, 1.1 assists and 0.6 3-pointers in 18.7 minutes per game for the Suns last season and could see a similar role in Detroit behind Tobias Harris.
Jul 9 - 12:00 PM

Jon Leuer has agreed to a four-year, $42 million deal with the Pistons.

The 27-year-old forward averaged 8.5 points, 5.6 boards, 1.1 assists and 0.6 3-pointers in 18.7 minutes per game for the Suns last season, shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from deep. The Pistons drafted Henry Ellenson with the 18th pick, but this signing seems to indicate that the rookie won't have a significant role next season. Leuer will likely be the primary backup behind Tobias Harris, so he won't have much fantasy value in Detroit.
Jul 2 - 1:55 PM

Jon Leuer, who will be an unrestricted free agent, is hopeful to remain with the Suns.

"I want to play here," Leuer said. "To have a year like that, it definitely gives me confidence moving forward." The Suns will prioritize a lot of things before turning attention to Leuer, and the same could be said for almost any other team that has interest in his services.
Apr 25 - 2:00 PM

Jon Leuer played only 20 minutes on Wednesday but he piled up 16 points and 14 rebounds in the Suns' season-ending home victory.

Leuer made 7-of-8 field goals tonight, with two assists, two steals and one block, rewarding DFS owners who deployed him with Tyson Chandler (concussion) out of the picture. He's headed into unrestricted free agency and would need an ideal landing spot to be worth drafting in 12-team leagues.
Apr 14 - 1:36 AM

Jon Leuer started on Monday vs. the Kings and double-doubled, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one block in 28 minutes.

Tyson Chandler (concussion) is likely done for the season, so Leuer could draw another start vs. the Clippers on Wednesday. Additionally, the Clippers are expected to rest their key guys in that game, so Leuer is certainly worth deploying in most lineups for the regular season finale. Just make sure that Chandler is inactive.
Apr 12 - 12:50 AM

Jon Leuer will start on Monday night against the Kings.

Tyson Chandler (concussion) is out for this game, so Leuer should see minutes over 20 for tonight. Mirza Teletovic should still thrive off the bench while Alex Len could benefit, as well. Leuer is worth a look in standard leagues.
Apr 11 - 9:06 PM

Jon Leuer (ankle) will be available to play Thursday vs. the Rockets.

Leuer has spent the past three games on the sidelines, but perhaps he makes it back to the court tonight. However, Leuer usually only earns minutes in the low-teens, which isn't enough time for him to produce in almost any setting. Leave him on the wire.
Apr 7 - 7:01 PM

Jon Leuer (ankle) will not play Tuesday vs. the Hawks, as expected.

It'll be his third straight game on the sidelines, which will allow Mirza Teletovic to flirt with minutes in the 30s. At this juncture in the fantasy season, Leuer belongs on the waiver wire everywhere.
Apr 5 - 7:10 PM

Jon Leuer (sprained right ankle) is now considered doubtful for Tuesday's game vs. the Hawks.

He's missed the past two games and coach Earl Watson isn't expecting him to play tonight. With Tyson Chandler healthy again and playing well, Leuer belongs on the wire in most leagues.
Apr 5 - 6:52 PM

Jon Leuer (sprained right ankle) is questionable for Tuesday vs. Atlanta.

Leuer re-sprained his right ankle last Thursday during two-on-two play, and he's missed the past two games as a result. Even when healthy, Leuer has no place on fantasy rosters with Tyson Chandler and Mirza Teletovic both in the lineup and producing.
Apr 4 - 10:42 AM

Jon Leuer (right ankle) will not suit up for Sunday's game vs. Utah, as expected.

It'll be Leuer's second straight game on the sidelines, which will open up some more minutes for Mirza Teletovic. Leuer isn't worth owning in most leagues.
Apr 3 - 4:32 PM

Jon Leuer (right ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Jazz.

He probably isn't going to play at less than 100 percent, as the Suns will likely be cautious. If Leuer is held out, Mirza Teletovic would be the primary big off the bench and would be worth deploying for any owner in need of 3-pointers.
