Jon Leuer started at PF on Tuesday with Zach Randolph (knee) still sidelined, but he scored only four points with two rebounds in 10 minutes.
Jarnell Stokes played four minutes and Kosta Koufos played 12 minutes, but the biggest winner in Z-Bo's absence has been Tayshaun Prince, who had 12 points, six boards and three assists in 34 minutes off the bench. Z-Bo remains day-to-day and could miss a few more games, but Leuer belongs on your waiver wire. Tue, Dec 30, 2014 11:11:00 PM

Date:

Jon Leuer played 23 minutes in a start against the Heat on Saturday with five points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

He scored just four points with three boards in a start on Friday, so the Johnny Basketball bandwagon is getting a little light. Leuer can be dropped in most leagues with Zach Randolph (knee) getting closer to a return.

Jon Leuer will start in place of Zach Randolph (knee) for Friday's game vs. the Rockets.

Leuer had a nice outing during his last start, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds over 30 minutes of action. He looks like a nice low-budget plug-and-play option tonight.

Jon Leuer stepped into a starting role on Sunday, notching 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 30 minutes of action.

Zach Randolph was out with a swollen knee, which led to Leuer's temporary promotion, and Randolph remains questionable for Monday's game. Daily-league owners should keep a close eye on the Grizzlies' injury report, as Leuer could once again be a solid value against the Jazz on Monday.

Jon Leuer made both of his 3-point attempts on Sunday, finishing an easy win vs. Miami with a season-high 20 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.

He did his damage in a mere 24 minutes off the bench and his role is simply too chaotic to rely on him outside of very deep fantasy leagues -- he didn't even leave the Grizzlies' bench vs. the Spurs on Friday. Congratulations if you happened to have Leuer active for this unforeseeable double-double.

Jon Leuer played 22 minutes off the bench in his return from the flu on Friday, scoring a season-high 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and one three.

Leuer got his numbers in this lightly contested game but he'll need to show consistency to get anybody's attention in most formats. Without an injury to Zach Randolph or Marc Gasol, it's hard to see him getting enough run to produce.

Jon Leuer (illness) will suit up for Friday's game vs. the Celtics.

Leuer is nothing more than a backup, and he's averaging 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds on the season. As long as Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are healthy, Leuer isn't going to be worth touching in standard leagues.

Jon Leuer (illness) is questionable to face the Celtics on Friday.

Johnny Basketball has made some exciting plays for the Grizzlies, but he's not a regular contributor. Leuer has no fantasy value right now.

Jon Leuer (illness) will not play against the Raptors on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies aren't too bad of shape in the front court and rookie Jarnell Stokes could get some minutes. Leuer should be considered questionable for Friday.

Jon Leuer (flu) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.

He is not the only Grizzly battling the flu, joining Tony Allen, Kosta Koufos, Beno Udrih and Courtney Lee on the injury report. If Leuer sits this one out, rookie Jarnell Stokes will see an uptick in minutes, but not enough to warrant attention in most fantasy leagues.

Grizzlies PF/C Jon Leuer scored 21 points in just 25 minutes during Friday's exhibition loss, making 8-of-15 FGs and 5-of-5 FTs with a full line vs. the Heat.

Leuer added seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks and only turnover, and he picked up extra playing time because the Grizzlies' starters were given limited minutes as a precaution. Leuer proved valuable with Marc Gasol out in December last year, but he's a non-factor in fantasy leagues while the Grizzlies' frontcourt is healthy.

Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger expects Jon Leuer to play a key role as a backup PF this season, but he wants him to be "more disruptive" defensively.

Leuer said that he's ready for the challenge. "I want to do more than just be a stretch four," he said. "I can put the ball on the floor and make plays for myself and teammates. I bring a lot of energy with the ability to rebound and defend." As long as Zach Randolph is healthy, fantasy owners shouldn't expect a big increase from Leuer's averages last season -- 6.2 points, 0.5 threes, 3.2 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game.

Grizzlies big man Jon Leuer had a double hernia operation in mid-August, but he said on Tuesday that he's "100 percent ... good to go."

He lost some weight while recovering from the operation but didn't sound concerned as Memphis opened their training camp with a practice heavy on running and conditioning drills. Leuer shouldn't be on typical fantasy radars while Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Kosta Koufos are all healthy.

Jon Leuer came off the bench to hit 6-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers for 19 points and five rebounds in Wednesday's ugly loss at Brooklyn.

Zach Randolph was out with the flu, starters Ed Davis and Tayshaun Prince were invisible and the Grizzlies turned to their bench early and often in an ugly loss. Leuer posted some big lines earlier in the season, but there's no reason to think he's about ready to go on a run, as Randolph should be back soon. Ignore tonight's positive performance.

Jon Leuer played 12 minutes on Friday and finished with two points, three rebounds and one assist.

Leuer hit 1-of-5 shots and Ed Davis' big night probably had something to do with that, but the bottom line is that Marc Gasol is coming back soon and even with 23 points on Sunday there's nothing to see here.
