Jon Leuer missed all seven shots from the bench in 22 minutes and finished Tuesday's loss with two points, five rebounds, a steal and a block.
The Pistons are fighting for a playoff spot, so losing to the Nets was not how they envisioned their Tuesday night going. Leuer had scored in double figures in his previous two games, but is averaging just 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds over his last five, meaning you can do better off your waiver wire. Mar 21 - 10:21 PM

Jon Leuer scored 12 points off the bench with five rebounds, two assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes against the Raptors on Friday.

He will stick in the second unit for the rest of the season. Leuer should still see plenty of minutes as long as coach Stan Van Gundy uses him next to both starting forwards. He's more of a late-round guy with a decent floor most nights. If he's at the end of your bench and you see a hot pickup, he could be a guy to drop.
Mar 17 - 10:25 PM

Jon Leuer was back in Detroit's starting lineup on Wednesday, going 3-of-8 from the field with one 3-pointer for seven points, five rebounds, one assist and one block in 30 minutes.

Leuer started because Stan Van Gundy thought Utah was going big at PF, so this could be a fluid situation based on matchups. He doesn't have a single steal or block in his previous six games, which is a primary reason to avoid him in 12-team leagues.
Mar 16 - 12:36 AM

Jon Leuer will return to the starting five for Wednesday's matchup with Utah.

Tobias Harris will likely head to the bench with Leuer back in the starting five, and it's unclear if this will be a long-term switch or if this is just a matchup-based move from Stan Van Gundy. Leuer's averages as a starter vs. a reserve aren't all that different this season, but he does see a minor boost in scoring as a starter. Harris takes a hit with the move back to the bench.
Mar 15 - 7:14 PM

Jon Leuer scored 11 points with three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes against the Knicks on Saturday.

The Pistons are 2-0 since Leuer moved the bench, but at least he was much better tonight than he was in his scoreless 13-minute dud. While we did see Leuer shine in his bench role earlier in this season, things are a little different now because more minutes are going to the wings. That means Leuer isn't getting quite as much run next to the starters as he was before. He's trending down as a drop candidate.
Mar 11 - 8:42 PM

Jon Leuer moved to the bench in favor of Tobias Harris on Thursday and played just 13 minutes, missed his only shot and failed to score or grab a rebound.

Ouch. He was averaging 14.8 points in 29 minutes in March, but those numbers took a big hit in this one. Stan Van Gundy said he doesn't know if he'll continue to start Harris or not, but for now, Leuer could be the odd man out if he sticks with the new lineup.
Mar 9 - 10:40 PM

Jon Leuer will come off the bench against the Cavs on Thursday.

He's actually had a strong March with 14.8 points per game in his 29.3 minutes. Leuer was playing well off the bench back in January and December, so this shouldn't affect his overall output too much.
Mar 9 - 7:24 PM

Jon Leuer managed 16 points with six rebounds and an assist in 32 minutes on Monday against the Bulls.

Leuer has been the definition of erratic lately, going scoreless on Feb. 28, tying a season high with 22 points March 1, disappearing for just six points on Saturday and then this outing which was rather solid. You just never know what you're going to get from the former University of Wisconsin standout. While he appears to be locked into the starting power forward job in Motown, the inconsistency is rather frustrating.
Mar 6 - 11:37 PM

Jon Leuer scored six points with two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes against the 76ers on Saturday.

He has been all over the place since the break, averaging 9.6 points, 5.4 boards, 1.0 assists, 0.2 blocks and 0.4 treys in 28.8 minutes per game. He was cruising at the start of 2017, but he's ice cold right now. His upside isn't the greatest anyway, so he's a possible cut candidate for a hot free agent.
Mar 4 - 9:18 PM

Stan Van Gundy wants Jon Leuer to keep firing away from beyond the arc, despite his recent shooting slump.

"Jon’s a guy whose confidence goes up and down — we just want him shooting them. Shooting seven of them the other night was good," Van Gundy said. "I want him shooting them without hesitation." Leuer has connected on just 29 percent of his 3-point attempts over the past 10 games, but as a career 34.8 percent shooter from beyond the arc, he should be able to bust out of this shooting slump soon enough.
Mar 1 - 10:45 AM

Jon Leuer missed all eight of his shots and didn't score a single point in Tuesday's overtime win over the Blazers, but did have five rebounds.

What a disaster this was, especially considering that power forwards generally go off against the Blazers. Leuer's front-court teammates, Andre Drummond and Marcus Morris, both went crazy tonight, but Leuer had his worst game of the season after scoring in double figures in nine of his previous 10 games. He's been playing well since he returned from a concussion in mid-January, although he hasn't exactly been dominant. In any case, if you had Leuer in your lineup tonight you just have to lick your wounds and move forward, as he simply won't be this bad again this year.
Feb 28 - 10:34 PM

Jon Leuer hit just 5-of-14 shots for 10 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 41 minutes of Thursday's 114-108 overtime win against the Hornets.

The minutes and shots were there tonight, as usual, but they just weren't falling. With the exception of a two-point dud on Feb. 12, Leuer has played very well during most of February, and his rebounds have been up over his last three games (9.3). He appears to be locked into the starting power forward job the rest of the way and deserves to be owned in most fantasy leagues.
Feb 23 - 10:19 PM

Jon Leuer scored 20 points on 5-of-7 shooting on Wednesday vs. Dallas.

He also set a career-high with 10 free throw attempts, making every single one of them. Leuer grabbed eight rebounds with one block, but didn't attempt a 3-pointer for the first time since Jan. 1. He's not loaded with upside and was averaging 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.8 triples in his previous eight games in February, so he's just a low-end asset who doesn't really hurt you anywhere.
Feb 15 - 11:08 PM

Jon Leuer hit 6-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points, 11 rebounds and a block in 36 minutes of Monday's 102-89 loss to the Bucks.

Leuer played just 17 minutes on Sunday, but if you throw that one out, he's scored very well since Feb. 3. He's hit double figures in six of his last seven games, but the rest of his stats have been lacking. Maybe tonight's game will get him kick started, but he'll need to do better than the 12 points and 3.6 rebounds he was averaging in February coming into this one in order to be worth owning in most leagues.
Feb 13 - 10:31 PM

Jon Leuer shot 1-of-5 from the field, scoring just two points in 17 minutes on Sunday against the Raptors.

Leuer was a non-factor tonight, but that was mainly due to Tobias Harris heating up early and getting the majority of the minutes. In the five games prior to tonight, Leuer was averaging 30.8 minutes, 16.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He has been producing low-end numbers for fantasy owners, and should get back on track in the Pistons next game vs. the Bucks on Monday.
