Heat sign C Josh Harrellson to a 10-day contract.

The team re-signs Jorts after releasing him in order to not have to guarantee his salary for the year.

Heat waive C Josh Harrellson.

One week ago Erik Spoelstra said Harrellson would be "a big factor in what [the Heat] are doing in the future." The Heat are expected to sign another big man with the available roster spot, so Spoelstra was apparently just paying lip service to Harrellson's value.

Erik Spolestra said that Josh Harrellson will be a "big factor in what we're doing in the future."

Harrellson played about 18 minutes Saturday, his first action since November 11 and his only meaningful minutes of the season. Spoelstra liked what he saw and specifically mentioned how Harrellson can space the floor, but it's important to note that Udonis Haslem (shoulder) was out. Just keep an eye on Jorts from the waiver wire.

Josh Harrellson (flu-like symptoms) is active for Wednesday night's game against the Heat.

The last time Harrellson got into a game was Nov. 11, so this doesn't mean much at all.

Josh Harrellson is "dealing with" the flu bug.

Harrellson has not gotten into a game since November 11, telling owners all they need to know about his fantasy relevance.

Josh Harrellson was inactive for the fourth time in six games on Saturday.

Harrellson's name received a decent amount of attention once the Heat signed him to space the floor, but he hasn't made an impact and is not close to sniffing fantasy relevance.

Josh Harrellson's contract with the Heat is non-guaranteed.

In other words, this is a no-risk signing for Miami. Harrellson, Mickell Gladness and Jarvis Varnado will compete for a roster spot, and Harrellson should be considered the heavy favorite going into training camp.

Heat sign C Josh Harrellson.

Jorts was traded from New York to Houston and then quickly waived, but he found a new home in Miami, where he'll provide emergency frontcourt depth behind Chris Bosh, Joel Anthony and Udonis Haslem. Details of the contract haven't been disclosed, but his signing makes it more likely that Miami will part ways with underwhelming big man Dexter Pittman, in spite of Pittman's guaranteed contract.

The Heat remain undecided on whether or not to sign unrestricted FA Josh Harrellson.

Harrellson has been brought in twice for a workout now, but Miami "is still giving thought" to signing him. The fact that the team has now seen him work out twice and remains uncertain about signing him isn't an encouraging sign, but the club is likely just doing its due diligence.

Josh Harrellson is being brought into Miami for a "one-week tryout , with no contract guarantee in place," a source tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Harrellson's tweet on Monday sent some into speculating rampantly about whether or not he was set to sign with the Heat, but Jorts will simply be brought in to try to make the roster. He's got a decent shot of earning a training camp invite given how long the team has been sniffing around him.

Updating a previous item, Josh Harrellson will be joining the Heat's "pre-camp" in an effort to earn an invite to training camp.

It's a bit surprising that Jorts wasn't able to land a guaranteed offer, but he fits a need in Miami as a sharpshooting big man off the bench. If signed, he'd offer no consistent fantasy value but his towel waving could rival that of the departed Ronny Turiaf.

Josh Harrellson tweeted on Monday that he's "heading to Miami for hopefully the next 9 months."

Normally we wouldn't read the tea leaves to this extent, but Jorts was just in Miami to be worked out by the Heat and the team remains in search of a big man. With no reported interest in guys like Andray Blatche or Darko Milicic, we could very well see Harrellson wind up with the Heat.

The Timberwolves are not interested in unrestricted FA Josh Harrellson.

Minnesota wants someone with more length than Harrellson offers. If the team is going to bring in a big man who can shoot it, it would make sense for the Timberwolves to simply retain Anthony Tolliver.

Josh Harrellson will visit "three more teams" over the next week or two, according to his agent.

Harrellson worked out for the Heat but left without a contract, and his agent wouldn't name the teams courting the big man. Miami could definitely use another big man, but it doesn't seem like the Heat have a pressing desire to sign Jorts. He's unlikely to be on the fantasy radar no matter where he ultimately signs.
