E'Twaun Moore started at SG for the Pelicans on Wednesday and had 11 points, four assists, two rebounds and one steal in 34 minutes.
Moore was a staple of the rotation last year and he should start until Rajon Rondo (abdomen) gets back, but his splits from last season don't inspire much confidence. In 22 starts last year he averaged 10.6 points, 1.0 threes, 2.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 steals -- given his lack of upside, most owners can leave him on the wire. Oct 19 - 1:45 AM

Date:

Jrue Holiday, E'Twaun Moore, Dante Cunningham, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins will start Wednesday vs. Memphis.

With Holiday shifting back over to point guard while Rajon Rondo (hernia) is out, Moore looks like the starting shooting guard moving forward, although that doesn't mean much in fantasy hoops. Holiday, Davis and Cousins will take the lion's share of touches on offense, so Moore and Cunningham will have a tough time putting up enough stats to make an impact in 12-team formats.

E'Twaun Moore and Dante Cunningham are expected to start in Wednesday's season opener vs. Memphis.

With Solomon Hill (hamstring) and Rajon Rondo (hernia) set to begin the year on the sidelines, the Pelicans are expected to roll out a starting five featuring Jrue Holiday, Moore, Cunningham, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. Moore could be good for a handful of 3-pointers, but he's not all that attractive of a target in 12-team formats. Cunningham isn't a viable target in any setting.

Alvin Gentry said that E'Twaun Moore will likely open the 2017-18 season as New Orleans' starting two-guard.

Gentry added that he's also considering Ian Clark for the starting two-spot, but we'd lean towards Moore securing the position given that's what has happened in the past. Jrue Holiday will slide back over to the point guard spot while Rajon Rondo recovers from his hernia, and the Rondo injury figures to open up some more minutes for Jordan Crawford and Tony Allen. While Moore figures to start, he's not a great fantasy target in most settings.

E'Twaun Moore started on Sunday in place of Rajon Rondo (core muscles), posting nine points, nine rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes.

Moore also turned the ball over six times, but the playing time is the big takeaway for fantasy purposes. Rondo's outlook should be clearer after meeting with doctors on Monday, and Moore is worth a speculative add in deep leagues -- in 22 starts last year, the six-year veteran averaged 10.6 points, 1.0 threes, 2.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.3 blocks.
Oct 8 - 9:53 PM

E'Twaun Moore will start for the Pelicans on Sunday.

Rajon Rondo has a sports hernia and his return date is uncertain, so Moore could begin the regular season with an expanded role. He's still a dubious long-term asset.
Oct 8 - 6:43 PM

E'Twaun Moore came off the bench for 16 points, one rebound, one assist, one steals, four 3-pointers and five turnovers in 21 minutes on Tuesday. He hit 6-of-9 shots.

Moore could make some noise if the Pelicans ever decide to put Jrue Holiday at point guard and bench Rajon Rondo, but for now, it looks like Moore will be hit-or-miss on most nights while backing up Holiday at the 2.
Oct 3 - 11:29 PM

E'Twaun Moore said he's prepared to play some small forward with Solomon Hill (hamstring) out indefinitely.

"That’s helped me out with sticking in the league," Moore said of his versatility. "Teams want guys who can do multiple things. We are down a player now, with Solomon out, so if I have to help fill that void, I’ll look forward to it." The coaching staff has already talked to Moore about this, and we could see Tony Allen and Jordan Crawford pick up some minutes at SF as well. Moore is still just a deep-league asset after putting up career-highs in points (9.6) and 3-pointers (1.1) with 2.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds in just under 25 minutes last season.

E'Twaun Moore (ankle) will play against the Blazers on Wednesday.

It's unclear how much he'll play with the Pelicans wanting to get a look at guys like Quinn Cook, Jordan Crawford and Alex Toupane.
Apr 12 - 9:36 PM

E'Twaun Moore (ankle) is probable for Wednesday against the Blazers.

This is a mild surprise after Moore missed the last two games. Jordan Crawford and Quinn Cook have benefited the most in those two, so they both figure to take hits, assuming Moore is good to go. Crawford should still be considered as a solid play for DFS.
Apr 12 - 4:02 PM

E'Twaun Moore (ankle) will not play on Tuesday vs. the Lakers.

Fantasy owners probably saw this coming because Moore was downgraded from probable to questionable earlier in the day. This news benefits Jordan Crawford, Quinn Cook and Tim Frazier.
Apr 11 - 9:35 PM

E'Twaun Moore (ankle) has been downgraded to questionable for Tuesday's game against the Lakers.

If Moore is forced to join Anthony Davis (knee) and DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) on the sidelines tonight, that would leave New Orleans with just eight healthy bodies. Jrue Holiday and Jordan Crawford will be forced into heavy minutes tonight if Moore can't give it a go, and both those guys will be busy on the offensive end sans The Brow and Boogie. Check back for official confirmation on Moore's status closer to tip-off.
Apr 11 - 4:38 PM

E'Twaun Moore (left ankle sprain) is probable for Tuesday's game vs. the Lakers.

This means his twisted ankle that he suffered on Friday will have only sidelined him for one game. Jrue Holiday is still active and Jordan Crawford is playing really well, so Moore's ceiling isn't the greatest. There should be better options on your wire. Plus, the Pelicans are wanting to get a look at Quinn Cook and Tim Frazier.
Apr 10 - 6:08 PM

E'Twaun Moore (left ankle sprain) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. Golden State.

Moore twisted his ankle in Friday's loss to the Nuggets and was unable to return to the game. Jordan Crawford ended up playing 30 minutes on Friday and will likely log 30-plus minutes again on Saturday. Quinn Cook, who just signed a two-year deal with the Pelicans, should see additional minutes as well. Tim Frazier was a DNP-CD on Friday, but likely will be back in the rotation.
Apr 8 - 11:19 AM

E'Twaun Moore (ankle) did not return on Friday against the Nuggets.

The Pelicans want to look at their young guys, so there's a chance they just shut Moore down. He finished with 10 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes.
