Ivan Johnson scored 12 points with 10 boards and one steal in Atlanta's ugly 113-96 loss to the Raptors on Tuesday.
The Hawks needed this game and now they will need to beat New York on top of Chicago losing to Washington in order to get the five seed. Although, potentially playing the Heat in the second round is not exactly a picnic. As for Johnson, he could be a spot-start option in fantasy leagues with Al Horford and Josh Smith being banged up. Date:

Ivan Johnson scored nine points with six rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Johnson hit 4-of-6 shots on the night and is worth a look if you're in need of a big man in a deeper format. Just keep in mind the Hawks' light remaining schedule.
Apr 12 - 10:29 PM

Ivan Johnson (personal) played in Friday's 101-90 loss to the Sixers, scoring 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.

Johnson has hit the radar for two games now in the past week or so, and there is a chance he can carve out a role for the shallow Hawks. Then again, there's also the chance he remains inconsistent or goes back to his season-long role as 'non-existent.'
Apr 5 - 11:36 PM

Ivan Johnson (personal reasons) did not attend Hawks shootaround on Friday.

His status for Friday's game against the Sixers is not clear, but if he's forced Friday's bout, Anthony Tolliver and Johan Petro should pick up the slack.
Apr 5 - 11:33 AM

Ivan Johnson went back to his secondary role with the Hawks on Monday, playing 19 minutes for seven points and five boards against the Cavs.

Al Horford returned to the lineup and Johnson can be put back on the wire in most leagues. He did have a 21-point outburst on Saturday, so owners might want to keep that in mind should Al Horford ever get rest.
Apr 1 - 10:21 PM

Ivan Johnson started the second half for the Hawks on Saturday and scored a career-high-tying 21 points, with 10 rebounds, three steals and one block.

The highlight of the game may have been Johnson's devastating dunk over Kyle O'Quinn, which will earn the Hawks' blue-collar PF some rare time on ESPN. Though encouraging for a Hawks team which just lost Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) for the season, Al Horford's day-to-day status makes Johnson a non-factor in fantasy leagues.
Mar 30 - 10:24 PM

Ivan Johnson (back) was available to play on Sunday, but he didn't leave the bench.

He missed Saturday's practice with back spasms, but he's fine and will be available moving forward.
Mar 25 - 8:35 AM

Ivan Johnson did not practice Saturday due to back spasms.

This is the first mention of back issues for Johnson this year, but it doesn't sound too serious. The Hawks travel to Milwaukee to play the Bucks on Sunday afternoon, so it's possible a flight might not be the best thing for Johnson's back. We'll sideline him for now and call Johnson day-to-day. We should know more later Saturday afternoon.
Mar 23 - 1:22 PM

Ivan Johnson scored 12 points with eight boards and one assist in 29 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday.

He was called upon to help fill the void left by Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia and he didn't disappoint. Johnson and the Hawks will take on Phoenix on Friday -- a night with 10 NBA games -- then travel to Brooklyn on Sunday, so Johnson is only worth a short-term look in deep leagues.
Mar 14 - 12:14 AM

Ivan Johnson (finger) returned from a one-game absence with nine points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block in 19 minutes vs. the Nets

Atlanta was happy to have their bruising PF battle Reggie Evans in the paint, especially with Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) still out of the lineup. Johnson hadn't played 19+ minutes in a game in over a month.
Mar 9 - 9:47 PM

Ivan Johnson (finger) is available to play against the Nets on Saturday.

He dislocated his finger and didn't play Friday. Johnson might get some minutes with Zaza Pachulia out, but he's unlikely to see over 20 minutes in a best-case scenario. He has no fantasy value.
Mar 9 - 5:47 PM

Ivan Johnson will not play against the Celtics on Friday due to a dislocated finger.

Johnson's irrelevant in fantasy formats and this just means even more action for Josh Smith an Al Horford.
Mar 8 - 11:40 AM

Ivan Johnson (knee) played four minutes on Monday against the Mavs.

Johnson is a bad man, but he has no real fantasy value.
Feb 12 - 1:25 AM

Ivan Johnson missed part of Sunday's practice while icing his right knee.

Johnson said he's just got tendinitis in the knee, so we're not concerned about his availability.
Feb 11 - 11:01 AM

Starting at center for the short-handed Hawks, Ivan Johnson had 12 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.

This was the first time all year Johnson has grabbed double-digit boards and the fifth time he scored double-digit points, but tonight he had a perfect storm with Al Horford injured and a matchup with the woeful Bobcats. With more personal fouls (54) than combined assists (16), steals (24) and blocks (five) this season, we wouldn't bother with him unless Horford goes down for an extended period.
