Gustavo Ayon has officially signed with Real Madrid.
This will officially end any speculation of Ayon making a last-minute return to the NBA as he will join Real on a three-year deal. Ayon averaged 4.3 points and 4.8 rebounds with the Hawks during the 2013-14 season, so his move to Spain won't come as a big blow to fantasy owners. Sep 23 - 10:40 AM

Gustavo Ayon will sign a three-year deal with Real Madrid.

It was reported a couple weeks ago that he would sign with Real Madrid, but a report popped up yesterday that he could sign with the Spurs. As it turns out, Ayon will indeed head to Spain after a disappointing stint with the Hawks in this past season.

Free agent PF/C Gustavo Ayon is reportedly deciding between formal contract offers from the Spurs and Shangdong in China.

It was reported two weeks ago that Ayon had reached a three-year deal with Real Madrid -- he's still mulling offers from Europe, but it sounds as though he's more inclined to play in China or return to the NBA. The Spurs' training camp starts in about 10 days, so he should make his final decision soon.

Gustavo Ayon's deal with Real Madrid is for three years, according to David Pick of EuroBasket.

Ayon reportedly received minimum offers to play in the NBA in 2014-15, but the European contract offers he received were too lucrative for him to pass up. The 29-year-old has looked great for Team Mexico at the World Cup of Basketball in Barcelona, but he won't be available for NBA fantasy owners this season.

Gustavo Ayon has reached a deal with Real Madrid.

He wanted to play in the NBA, but it would appear Madrid's offer was too lucrative to turn down. Ayon looked great at the FIBA World Cup and has been productive in spots in the NBA, but we won't be seeing him stateside this year.

Gustavo Ayon has been receiving richer offers overseas compared to NBA teams.

Ayon said he would prefer to play in the NBA, but European teams are certainly trying to pry him away. He actually held his own and looked great against Team USA, scoring 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting with eight boards, two steals and one block.

Unrestricted free agent Gustavo Ayon has reportedly received interest from the Spurs.

Ayon has also received a contract offer from a Chinese team, but he has stated he wants to wait until after the FIBA World Cup before making a decision on where he will play next year. Ayon averaged 4.3 points, and 4.8 rebounds through 17 minutes of action with the Hawks last season, and considering he would likely see even less time on the floor in SA, owners can safely ignore him come draft day.

Free agent Gustavo Ayon has received a contract offer from a team in China, but it's uncertain if he's drawn any interest in the NBA.

Ayon still sounds interested in the NBA, saying, "It is where I will play my best." He admitted that injuries have "hurt [his] game and career" over the past few years, however, and at the moment he's focused on staying healthy throughout the FIBA World Cup. His decision on where to play next season does not sound imminent.
Aug 24 - 9:21 PM

Gustavo Ayon wants to wait until after the FIBA World Cup to make a decision on which team he'll play for next season.

He said he's rejected some offers from teams, so it would appear he wants to try and boost his value on the court later this month. Ayon's shoulder injury limited him to just 26 games with the Hawks last season and he hasn't played more than 17 minutes per game since his rookie season. Big men do tend to get bigger contracts, but Ayon will really have to impress in order to get a multiple-year, guaranteed deal.

Free agent Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) is healthy and will join the Mexican National Team for the Centrobasket tournament this summer.

Ayon had surgery after injuring his shoulder in February, but he's reported no setbacks after playing vs. the Dominican Republic this week. "I only have a small contraction in the neck but the injury to his right shoulder, I feel pretty good," he said. As an unrestricted FA, his ability to stay healthy throughout Centrobasket will be crucial to landing another NBA contract.

Gustavo Ayon is an unrestricted free agent after the Hawks declined to make him a $1.9 million qualifying offer.

Al Horford (pectoral surgery) will be ready for training camp, the Hawks can match offers for restricted FA Pero Antic, and they've already expressed interest in re-signing Elton Brand. With Ayon still recovering from shoulder surgery, there wasn't much incentive for Atlanta to keep him in town.
Jul 1 - 4:31 PM

Hawks big man Gustavo Ayon (shoulder surgery) may not be healthy enough to play for Mexico in the FIBA World Cup in early September.

The 29-year-old had season-ending right shoulder surgery in February. "The shoulder is not a hundred percent," Ayon said. "So even though I can feel good, while the injury is not healed completely I will not be able to play." The Hawks have until June 30 to make Ayon a $1.9 million qualifying offer and retain the right to match contract offers in restricted free agency.
Jun 18 - 9:23 AM

Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) needs surgery and is out for the season.

It's unfortunate timing for Ayon, who was seeing significant minutes thanks to Al Horford's season-ending injury. Ayon's first season in Atlanta ends with averages of 4.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals while playing 16.5 minutes per night in 26 games. The Hawks will continue to lean heavily on the likes of Mike Scott and Elton Brand as bigs.
Feb 28 - 12:37 PM

Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) did not travel with the Hawks for Wednesday's road game in Boston.

Pero Antic (ankle) and Paul Millsap (knee) will also be sidelined, and the Hawks may once again have to play Elton Brand close to 40 minutes in their threadbare frontcourt. DeMarre Carroll will likely earn another start at PF with Kyle Korver at SF and Mike Scott playing extra minutes off the bench, and small lineups featuring multiple guards will be inevitable.

Gustavo Ayon (shoulder) will miss Tuesday's game against Chicago.

Ayon would have been poised to see big minutes with Paul Millsap and Pero Antic already ruled out for Tuesday night, but the Hawks will be forced into using smaller lineups against the Bulls. Mike Scott and Elton Brand will be the biggest beneficiaries of the Hawks' frontcourt M.A.S.H. unit, while newly-acquired Dexter Pittman could see his first action of the season.
