General manager John Hammond said John Henson is part of the Bucks' nucleus.
Based on his 18.3 minutes per game last season, it's a little hard to believe Henson is a key piece. That said, there is some serious potential with Henson leading all qualifiers in the NBA in block rate (blocks per 100 possessions) last season. It's still tough to draft him in standard leagues due to his sub-par foul shooting and with Greg Monroe around now. Aug 21 - 10:38 PM

John Henson and the Bucks are still close on a contract extension, according to Zach Lowe of Grantland.

While the two sides have reportedly slowed on extension talks, Lowe reports that Henson and Bucks are still close. Henson is expected to receive an eight-figure deal as the Bucks view him as a key part of their core of young players. We'll keep an eye on the progress here, but Henson will provide limited fantasy upside as Greg Monroe's primary backup.

The Bucks are reportedly nearing a deal to sign John Henson to an extension.

The Bucks reportedly view Henson as a key part of their core of young players, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe, Michael Carter-Williams and Khris Middleton, and they want to get Henson on the books long-term. Henson will serve as Monroe's primary backup in Milwaukee, but as long as Monroe is healthy, Henson's upside will be severely limited.

The Bucks are reportedly exploring ways of moving up in the 2015 NBA draft, using John Henson and the Clippers 2016 first-round pick as trade chips.

The Bucks currently own the No. 17 overall selection, and it'll be interesting to see if they can move up. They're also reportedly shopping Michael Carter-Williams, so perhaps there's some buyer's remorse here. Henson can produce when given the minutes, so he could make for a sneaky late-round selection in fantasy drafts if he lands in an ideal situation.

John Henson will focus on gaining weight with an improved diet this offseason.

Henson added some bulk last summer but said he burned most of it off while playing in 67 games this season, averaging 7.0 points, 4.7 boards and 2.0 blocks in only 18.3 minutes per game. He has tantalizing per-minute fantasy potential but his role is complicated with starters Zaza Pachulia and Ersan Ilyasova both set to return for Milwaukee next season.

John Henson played 26 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday with six points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and four blocks.

He didn't play nearly as much as his 39-minute outing in Game 3, but Zaza Pachulia was very good on defense. Pachulia finished with eight points, five rebounds, one assist and six steals in 22 minutes. The two will likely split the center minutes for the rest of this season.
Apr 25 - 8:52 PM

John Henson played 39 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday with 15 points, 14 boards, one steal and three blocks.

This was his first game with more than 30 minutes since Feb. 4, and is what his fantasy owners were hoping for all season. Henson provided a huge spark off the bench and coach Jason Kidd went with him for the final 27 minutes of this contest. He probably won't start in Game 4, but Henson may be looking at more than 30 minutes again. He'll be a risk-reward guy in daily fantasy leagues, but the reward is very attractive.
Apr 23 - 11:12 PM

John Henson played 25 minutes against the Bulls on Monday with eight points, six boards, one steal and two blocks.

He was only looking at around 23 minutes tonight, but Zaza Pachulia was ejected with a few minutes left in the game. Henson did play more than Pachulia in Game 1 and he's actually played well in this series with great defense on Pau Gasol. He'll likely see minutes in the mid-20s going forward in this series.
Apr 20 - 10:37 PM

John Henson played 26 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday with 12 points, seven boards, one assist and one steal.

He played more than Zaza Pachulia's 22 minutes and the extra length seemed to help the Bucks on defense. Henson hasn't played 26 minutes in any game since Mar. 9, so this came as a surprise. We'll see if this continues in this series, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see coach Jason Kidd change his mind.
Apr 18 - 9:44 PM

John Henson came off the Bucks' bench for six points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and three blocks in only 19 minutes vs. the Nets on Sunday.

A lack of playing time has been Henson's biggest obstacle to sustained value. Owners should remember his per-36-minute averages next season -- 13.9 points (56.8 percent FGs, 56.8 percent FTs), 9.1 boards, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 3.8 blocks. His tendency to get into foul trouble doesn't help his cause, but the biggest roadblock is veteran C Zaza Pachulia, who is under contract for $5.2 million next year.
Apr 12 - 5:51 PM

John Henson played fantastic off the bench in Saturday's game vs. the Magic, scoring 10 points with eight boards, four assists and three blocks in 25 minutes.

Starting center Zaza Pachulia finished with four points, five boards, six assists and two steals, but there is no reason to think that head coach Jason Kidd will shake up his lineups this late in the season. At best, Henson will be in a timeshare for Pachulia the rest of the way, meaning he is only worth a look in most leagues if you are in need of boards and blocks.
Apr 5 - 12:01 AM

John Henson played 20 minutes against the Warriors on Saturday with eight points, 10 rebounds, one steal and four blocks on 3-of-9 from the field.

He was 2-of-4 from the line and was heavily involved in the offense. Henson does have 3.0 blocks per game in his last five, adding averages of 5.8 points, 5.4 boards, 0.6 assists and 0.6 steals. His fantasy value is going to be all over the place, but he's definitely worth a look if you need the blocks.
Mar 28 - 11:03 PM

John Henson played 16 minutes against the Pacers on Thursday with eight points, two boards, one assist, two steals and two blocks.

It’s no coincidence that Henson played just 13.5 minutes per game in his previous two and Zaza Pachulia has exploded. Henson hasn’t topped 24 minutes in a game since Mar. 9 and he’s probably going to need a Zaza injury to be more than a one-category guy for his blocks.
Mar 26 - 10:59 PM

John Henson only managed to log 14 minutes during Sunday's loss to the Cavs, putting up four points, two rebounds, two blocks and two turnovers.

His minutes have been sporadic, and they will continue to be as long as Zaza Pachulia is healthy. Henson can be viewed as a shot blocking specialists in deep leagues, but with Jason Kidd yanking his minutes around, he's not worth owning in standard formats.
Mar 22 - 6:43 PM

John Henson blocked seven shots with four points, 10 boards and one assist in 21 minutes against the Nets on Friday.

The triple-overtime factor helped him here, so it's hard to get too excited about this line. Plus, Zaza Pachulia arguably had the best game of his career tonight. Unless you're really in the hunt for blocks, Henson isn't a great grab.
