The Milwaukee Bucks have picked up the fourth-year option on John Henson.
Henson has looked good so far this season, but an impending bench role behind Larry Sanders will limit his fantasy ceiling. However, the opportunities for him to contribute on a high level will be there for Henson all season long. He should be owned in all fantasy formats across the board. Oct 16 - 3:32 PM

John Henson came off the bench for 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Henson has looked good this preseason, but there is a timeshare problem brewing in Milwaukee with Ersan Ilyasova, Henson, Khris Middleton, Larry Sanders, Zaza Pachuli and Jabari Parker all needing minutes. But if Ilyasova goes down and Henson gets starts, which is a likely scenario, he's going to be a guy you'll want to own this season.
Oct 14 - 11:07 PM

John Henson had nine points, six rebounds, a steal and two blocks in 23 minutes off the Bucks bench on Saturday.

Henson is a good player, but will only play to his potential if he can get 25 minutes a game behind Ersan Ilyasova. It could take an injury to a big man in Milwaukee to set Henson free, but we're still good with taking him in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.
Oct 12 - 12:04 AM

John Henson came off the bench on Wednesday for 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks on 5-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes.

Henson says he has no idea what his role with be this season and we don't know, either. But he looked good tonight and has the skills to start at PF if necessary. And even if he's coming off the bench, he's a good player to target in the later rounds of your draft.

John Henson said he has no idea what his role is going to be with the Bucks this season.

"I just have to come to play in training camp, and hopefully I'll be in a position to help the team," Henson said. There are some reports that he will start ahead of Larry Sanders, but it's a total guessing game right now -- just like all five of the starting spots. Henson is a high-upside player to take at the end of drafts despite his ineptitude on offense.
Sep 30 - 1:35 AM

John Henson adding weight and strength "should pay off as the Bucks opening-game starting center," according to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.

This is a bit of a surprise considering Henson lost minutes to Jeff Adrien while Larry Sanders will be 100 percent healthy for training camp. The only thing clear about the Bucks starting five is that it's a mess right now, and that's especially true in the frontcourt. Henson has only really come around as a rebounder, so he may have to add some skills to go with his added weight before coach Jason Kidd says anything about him starting.

The Bucks' physical therapy and training director, Chris McKenzie, said that John Henson "finally put some weight on" this summer.

McKenzie also singled out Khris Middleton for extraordinary work in the training room this summer, but reserved his most effusive praise for Henson. "I can't wait until people get to see John Henson," McKenzie said. "He really can do things [physically] that he couldn't do [last season]." Henson flashed tremendous potential last year and could be a fantasy steal if coach Jason Kidd turns him loose, but his role is somewhat uncertain with Ersan Ilyasova and Larry Sanders still in Milwaukee.

John Henson is available to be traded by the Bucks this offseason, according to the Racine Journal Times.

The Bucks know they are in the midst of a major rebuilding project after their 2013 offseason was one of the worst in recent memory. Henson has some talent and his length has really made him a plus rebounder and shot blocker, but he's not a franchise-type big man.
Jun 23 - 11:31 AM

John Henson scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting with six rebounds and two steals in Friday's win.

Henson logged 30 minutes off the bench but there is no guarantee that Larry Drew lets him loose, even at this late stage of the season. He's a high-risk, high-reward pickup right now.
Apr 12 - 1:52 AM

John Henson finally broke out on Saturday night vs. the Raptors with 23 points, nine boards, six assists, one steal and three blocks in 39 minutes.

It's about time, right? Henson led the NBA in blocks back in December, but he's been a ghost possibly due to an ankle injury and terrible team chemistry. He has the potential to be an elite big man for fantasy owners, so we have no problem with picking him up in hopes he can keep the party going. That said, there is a lot of risk and we'd feel more comfortable waiting to see if he can do it again based on how bad he's looked the past month.
Apr 5 - 11:06 PM

John Henson logged 30 minutes vs. the Heat on Saturday with 12 points, 10 boards, two assists and two steals.

He didn't block any shots and missed both free throw attempts. Henson's two misses dropped him below 50 percent from the line on the year and also below 1.0 blocks per game in March. He's a not doing enough for his owners right now.
Mar 29 - 11:53 PM

John Henson scored 10 points vs. the Lakers on Thursday with seven boards, one assist, two steals and one block in 26 minutes.

There is some added opportunity for Henson here, but coach Larry Drew hasn’t really been comfortable playing Henson significant minutes. The good news is he did play 36 minutes back on Mar. 16, so it’s certainly possible he can stay above 30. On the down side, he isn’t blocking shots like he used to and he shot just 32.6 percent from the line in his previous 19 games since the break.
Mar 27 - 11:02 PM

John Henson came off the bench against the Warriors and put up 13 points, six boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 22 minutes.

He shot 3-of-6 from the line, which has really been a sore subject. Henson is just 4-of-12 from the line in his last four games and only has two blocks, so the cons are outweighing the pros these days. While he did lead the NBA in blocks back in December, that was a long time ago. Fantasy owners can look at other guys instead of the 23-year-old Tarheel.
Mar 21 - 1:39 AM

John Henson played just 16 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's overtime loss to Portland.

He had six points and one rebound, and as long as he's not starting for the Bucks, he shouldn't be starting for your fantasy team, either. However, on nights when Ersan Ilyasova is getting a rest, Henson might be worth a plug-and-play.
Mar 19 - 1:25 AM

John Henson was busy on offense against the Bobcats on Sunday with 15 shots from the field, making just six of them for 12 points with seven boards and three assists in 36 minutes.

It's the most playing time he's received since Feb. 10 after averaging just 23.8 minutes per game in his previous 10 games. Henson's stats don't look very appealing to fantasy owners in that stretch, averaging 9.2 points, 6.2 boards, 1.3 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.3 steals on 57.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from the line. That said, his uptick in minutes today might be enough to pick him up in some formats even though Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) did not play.
