John Henson made his second consecutive start on Saturday against the Blazers with 14 points, eight rebounds, one assist and four blocks in 27 minutes.
He had a double-double on Thursday and is clearly capitalizing on his chance with Zaza Pachulia (calf) out of the lineup. Pachulia is a slow healer, so Henson could get some extra run for a while. If you want to give him a look in even a shallow league and see if he can keep it going, it's not a bad idea. Feb 1 - 1:55 AM

John Henson started against the Magic on Thursday during a 115-100 win, scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks in 24 minutes.

He looked great in the starting unit and there might be a position battle should Zaza Pachulia (calf) miss time. Henson does have some eye-catching upside for his ability to block shots, so fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on him. Unless you don't care about foul shooting, it's probably best to see what happens his next time out before grabbing him.
Jan 29 - 11:29 PM

John Henson will replace Zaza Pachulia (calf) in the starting lineup for Thursday's game vs. Orlando.

Henson offers a lot of upside, and with a favorable matchup against the Magic, he's looking like a fine plug-and-play in daily leagues. It's going to be hard for head coach Jason Kidd to limit Henson's minutes tonight with Ersan Ilyasova, and Zaza unavailable. Kenyon Martin could also pick up some extended minutes tonight as one of the few healthy big men left on the roster, although he's unlikely to contribute much to the stat sheet.
Jan 29 - 6:03 PM

John Henson (ankle) left Sunday's game against the Spurs and did not return, finishing with four points, nine boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 17 minutes.

The good news is that coach Jason Kidd said that Henson could have returned if he needed him too, so the injury is probably very minor. Henson's only averaging 15.6 minutes per game this season, but he has given the Bucks a solid rim protector in the absence of Larry Sanders. If Henson does end up missing time, Zaza Pachulia will have to play even more minutes with veteran Kenyon Martin getting into the mix as well.
Jan 25 - 9:28 PM

John Henson left Sunday's game against the Spurs with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.

The Bucks are already pretty thin in their frontcourt thanks to Larry Sanders, so hopefully it's not too serious. We will update Henson's status as soon as we know more, and we would expect Zaza Pachulia to play all the minutes he could handle if Henson were to miss any time.
Jan 25 - 8:58 PM

John Henson scored seven points on 3-of-4 shooting with four rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 21 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Henson hasn't done much lately but we like the spunk in this line, so we'll be watching to see if he can back it up. Owners in standard leagues can leave him on the waiver wire.
Jan 20 - 2:21 AM

John Henson scored four points against the Knicks on Thursday with three rebounds, one assist and one block in 18 minutes.

He's backing up Zaza Pachulia and has done nothing to earn more minutes since returning from injury on Dec. 27. Henson can't make free throws and won't do much besides block shots, so he's not a great pickup in most leagues.
Jan 15 - 8:37 PM

John Henson scored six points with seven rebounds, one assist and four blocks in 18 minutes against the Bulls on Saturday.

Too much Pau Gasol. Henson just can't seem to get it going and it's going to be hard to own him in most leagues due to the inconsistency, but at least he's at 70 percent from the line this season. The ceiling is nice, but he's only worth grabbing unless you really need blocks.
Jan 11 - 12:26 AM

The Bucks feel that John Henson is "the kind of player you want in your organization for a long time."

"We’ve never had any interest in trading John Henson," general manager John Hammond said. The Bucks are not playing him at power forward anymore and he's only been hanging around as a 20-minute guy as a backup behind Zaza Pachulia. The upside for blocks is nice, but the low minutes and sub-par foul shots make him a tough player to own.
Jan 9 - 5:14 PM

John Henson played just 16 minutes and finished with four points, two rebounds, two assists, a steal and four blocks on Wednesday.

Why Johnny O'Bryant is starting over Henson, and why Henson got such limited run tonight remains a mystery, and the same can be said for Giannis Antetokounmpo (15 minutes tonight). Hopefully Jason Kidd just gave the duo a rest against the awful Sixers.
Jan 7 - 11:38 PM

John Henson double-doubled off the bench on Friday, scoring 14 points with 10 rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Henson is still splitting the center minutes with Zaza Pachulia but he's been playing great and needs to be owned in all formats, especially after Larry Sanders' situation appeared to deteriorate further on Friday. Over his last five games he has averaged 3.0 blocks per contest to go with 8.2 points and 6.2 boards.
Jan 3 - 2:02 AM

Jason Kidd praised John Henson's rim protecting abilities during a recent interview.

"I don't just look at John as blocking shots," Kidd said. "He changes shots; he rebounds. He gives us a guy rolling, being able to play above the rim athletically." Henson has racked up 13 blocked shots over the Bucks' past four games, so he's worth a speculative add for owners seeking some shot-blocking. As an added bonus, Henson is shooting 73.7 percent from the charity stripe this season.
Jan 2 - 9:30 AM

John Henson blocked five shots during a 104-94 overtime win against the Hornets on Monday, adding 10 points and four rebounds.

The good news is that he closed out this game and was out there for overtime. However, he's still not playing minutes at power forward, which spells trouble for his value once Larry Sanders (illness) makes it back on the court. Coach Jason Kidd has changed his tune on a number of matters, so maybe he starts using Henson at the four now that he's playing better. He's far from a sure thing, but give him a look if your team needs blocks.

John Henson blocked five shots against the Hawks on Saturday with five points and five boards in 19 minutes.

He's still not playing minutes at power forward, which limits his opportunity. Henson hasn't played more than 21 minutes in any game and it doesn't look like that'll change soon. The upside is nice, but coach Jason Kidd's rotation is just too messy.
Sun, Dec 28, 2014 12:42:00 AM

John Henson (foot) returned to action on Friday, logging 18 minutes on his way to five points, five boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

Henson did this damage in a garbage-time environment but not to the extent that we should totally discount this performance. He hasn't been able to stay healthy and his effectiveness has been a problem at times, but when playing at peak levels he has flashed plenty of upside. Ersan Ilyasova's concussion-related absence could help his stock and we don't want to get too high over one game, but he's worth a look as a speculative add.
