John Henson (hamstring) will not play against the Nuggets on Thursday.
He was listed as out for this one and he'll have the break to get his hamstring strain right. Henson may have lost some ground while he was out because Thon Maker has played well and Tyler Zeller has fit in with the second unit. Henson is more of a drop than a stash. Feb 15 - 7:08 PM

Date:

John Henson (right hamstring soreness) is listed as out for Tuesday's game vs. the Hawks.

Maybe he suffered a setback, but the Bucks aren't going to take any chances this close to the All-Star break. Thon Maker and Tyler Zeller will fill the void left by Henson, but neither player can be trusted in standard leagues. We may also see Giannis Antetokounmpo play some center minutes like he's done many times this season.

John Henson (right hamstring soreness) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. Orlando.

Henson sat out Tuesday due to the hamstring issue, but then returned to score three points and grab eight boards in 21 minutes on Friday. The Bucks may be playing it safe by keeping him out of the back end of a back-to-back. Jabari Parker (rest) is also out Saturday, so Milwaukee will be a bit thin up front. Thon Maker and Tyler Zeller will see a significant uptick in minutes on Saturday night, with Maker likely drawing the start at center.

Feb 10 - 12:33 PM

John Henson (hamstring) returned from a one-game absence on Friday vs. the Heat, scoring three points with eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 21 minutes.

He did have four fouls, so that explains the low minutes. Henson is hitting 59.3% from the line this season, but he's worth owning for his field goal percentage (58.9%), rebounds (6.9) and blocks (1.4). We'll see how his hamstring holds up on the second night of a back-to-back vs. Orlando on Saturday.
Feb 10 - 12:50 AM

John Henson (hamstring) will play Friday vs. the Heat.

Henson sat out Tuesday's win over the Knicks but was able to participate fully in practice on Thursday. Henson is averaging 10.1 points (on 59.4 percent shooting), 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over his last 40 games.
Feb 9 - 12:45 PM

John Henson (hamstring) fully participated in Thursday’s practice.

He did not play on Tuesday due to a strain in his hamstring. That should be Henson back on track for Friday against the Heat. The addition of Jabari Parker could slightly hurt Henson because the Bucks could go with more small-ball lineups, but he's still an OK hold as a blocks specialist.
Feb 8 - 8:19 PM

John Henson (right hamstring) is being listed as out for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.

Henson is dealing with some discomfort in his hamstring after tweaking it on Sunday, so he'll sit out tonight's game, which will likely result in Thon Maker moving into the starting five and newcomer Tyler Zeller could immediately be thrust into the rotation. The Bucks play again on Friday in Miami, but with that being the first game of a back-to-back set, it wouldn't be surprising to see Henson sit that one out as well.
Feb 6 - 4:38 PM

John Henson racked up season-highs of 19 points and 18 rebounds on Sunday, going 8-of-14 from the field with three assists, two blocks and zero turnovers in 30 minutes.

Maybe he was hyped to prove something vs. the Nets' up-and-coming center Jarrett Allen, but whatever the reason Henson was all over the place today. He's playing solid minutes, hasn't turned the ball over in the past four games, and even shot a reasonable 72.2% at the line in January. Unless Milwaukee trades for another center, his rest-of-season value should hold steady in the 75-100 range.
Feb 4 - 3:00 PM

John Henson went 4-of-6 from the field and 4-of-7 from the stripe on Sunday, on his way to 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and one turnover in 28 minutes.

Henson has been riding a mini-hot streak over the past three games with averages of 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.0 block and 1.7 turnovers per contest on 59.1% shooting, which has been good enough for top-75 value in 9-cat leagues. The dimes and steals numbers aren't sustainable, but his shot blocking totals should improve. He's a solid low-end big to own.
Jan 28 - 6:26 PM

John Henson double-doubled vs. the Nets on Friday with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and one block in 28 minutes.

He was 5-of-7 from the field, 2-of-3 from the line and finished with a +25 in his 28 minutes. He continues to fly under the radar and has been a reliable asset in two-center fantasy leagues for weeks. The Bucks are expected to actively pursue a center and have been linked to DeAndre Jordan, so Henson's owners will be hoping for a quiet trade deadline.
Jan 26 - 10:50 PM

John Henson posted 11 points with four rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot over 23 minutes in Saturday's 116-94 loss in Philadelphia.

Henson didn't really do anything different or pick up any slack with Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) sidelined. It's a good thing that Henson is rather consistent, but fantasy owners were likely hoping for a little bump in offensive responsibilities with 'The Greek Freak' sidelined. It didn't happen. Next up is a date against the defensively-challenged Suns on Monday.
Jan 20 - 10:17 PM

John Henson scored 10 points with 10 rebounds, one assist and one block in 33 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday.

The Bucks turning to more Giannis Antetokounmpo at the five hasn't hurt Henson's playing time, logging 29.0 minutes per game over his last five outings. On the other hand, his per-minute stats have dropped this month, averaging 8.4 points, 7.4 boards and 1.3 blocks. He's still a low-end hold if you need a big.
Jan 18 - 12:48 AM

John Henson scored four points on 2-of-6 shooting Monday to go with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks and three turnovers in 31 minutes.

This is pretty much par for the course for Henson. He tends to score in the single digits, but his 1.5 blocks per contest give him some low-end appeal as a shot-blocking specialist. He's a fine low-end big to own in deep leagues.
Jan 15 - 5:07 PM

John Henson was able to post 14 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots over 30 minutes in Wednesday's 110-103 win against the visiting Magic.

Henson ended up with a solid plus-22 rating on the evening, and he was a very efficient 7-of-11 from the field while also chipping in with an assist and just two turnovers. He is in the midst of his best run of the season, averaging 12.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game over the past three. Henson will shoot for his season-high fourth consecutive game with 10 or more points when the Warriors come to Cream City on Friday night.
Jan 10 - 10:58 PM

John Henson finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds across 34 minutes in Saturday's 110-103 road win against the Wizards.

Henson hit 5-of-8 from the field while also chipping in with two assists, two blocked shots and two steals while turning it over just two times. His confidence has been growing lately, culminating in his first double-double since Nov. 30. It is also just his fourth double-double of the season. He continues to sail along with a 60.8 field-goal percentage, a career best. Henson is a solid fantasy option heading into the next scoring period, as the Bucks have four games on tap for a second straight week.
