John Henson will play in summer league for the Bucks.
Henson expects to return to Milwaukee in late May or early June and "improve from year to year and that's what I'm going to do," he said. Henson showed some strong promise during his rookie season, but it's too early to forecast his fantasy outlook for next year. It is largely dependent on what happens with the rest of the Bucks roster. May 1 - 9:38 AM

Jim Boylan once again praised John Henson for his play in Wednesday's regular season finale.

It's the second time in less than a week the head coach has praised the rookie. "John was great," he said. Henson had an unbelievable 28 points and 15 rebounds in 44 minutes, and the Bucks look ridiculously foolish for not giving him extended minutes before right now. Even if Larry Sanders (back) is ready for the postseason, Henson should remain a valuable part of the rotation.
Apr 18 - 9:37 AM

John Henson had another huge line in Wednesday's finale with a career high of 28 points, 15 rebounds and zero blocks on 11-of-18 shooting.

Henson has been a rebounding beast while filling in for Larry Sanders (back), and while we doubt Henson's emergence is going to hurt the playing time and value of Sanders too much next year, it's probably not going to help. It would be nice if the Bucks could figure out a way to play the two at the same time, but as of now, it looks like Henson will be coming off the bench again next season, assuming Sanders is healthy.
Apr 17 - 10:19 PM

Jim Boylan showered John Henson with praise recently for how he's played without Larry Sanders (back) in the lineup.

"John played really well," Boylan said. "He’s starting to learn how to play a little bit. It’s all about his awareness defensively, the speed of the game, then the strength factor." Henson has been a man on fire without Sanders in the lineup and has a decent chance to go off again on Wednesday if Sanders winds up sitting out as we expect him to do.
Apr 17 - 9:17 AM

John Henson scored 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting with 15 rebounds, three steals and four blocks in the Bucks' 112-111 loss to the Nuggets on Monday.

A return by Larry Sanders could theoretically derail Henson's finale, but with the Bucks locked into the No. 8 seed there's a decent chance they hold Sanders out. Either way, Henson should be owned in all formats.
Apr 15 - 11:27 PM

John Henson had eight points, 11 rebounds and one block in 28 foul-plagued minutes as the Bucks' starting center on Saturday.

We hoped for more with Larry Sanders out and the Bobcats' woeful frontcourt as the opposition, but the fouls really did him in tonight. He had four turnovers without any assists or steals, but we'd still keep him active if Larry Sanders is ruled out for Monday's home game.
Apr 13 - 9:57 PM

John Henson started for injured Larry Sanders (back) on Friday against the Hawks, scoring eight points on 3-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 26 minutes.

Henson didn't have the gaudy scoring and rebounding totals from the other night, but this is a solid performance and he's worth owning in all leagues for the chance Sanders stays out.
Apr 12 - 10:18 PM

John Henson will start at center in Friday's game against the Hawks.

Larry Sanders (back) is out. When this has happened in the past, Samuel Dalembert has often been the starter and main beneficiary. But with Henson taking major strides forward over the course of his rookie season, he's getting the nod. We wouldn't expect anything close to the 17 points, 25 rebounds and seven blocks Henson posted on Wednesday, but he' has plenty of plug-n-play upside.
Apr 12 - 2:15 PM

Jim Boylan and John Henson recently had a heart-to-heart conversation where the coach told the rookie to keep himself ready.

"If you're not ready when that moment comes, it's an opportunity lost. He's been working hard and trying to keep himself physically and mentally in the games," Boylan said. "He had an opportunity tonight (Wednesday) and obviously he took advantage of it." If Larry Sanders (back) sits on Friday, Henson is in prime position to have another big night.
Apr 12 - 9:53 AM

John Henson had the best game of his career on Wednesday with 17 points, 25 boards, three assists and seven blocks in 41 minutes vs. the Magic.

Larry Sanders was banged up and only played 15 minutes due to what appears to be a back injury, but Henson obviously turned some heads tonight. He had career highs in minutes, boards and blocks, but it's going to be tough to count on him considering he's played in just 19 minutes combined in his previous nine games. If Sanders needs to miss time, Henson would make for an interesting pickup.
Apr 10 - 10:08 PM

John Henson came off the bench for six points, eight rebounds and a block in 14 minutes on Wednesday.

He had a nice run earlier this season and with Ersan Ilyasova out with a back injury, appears to be back in the rotation. Deep leaguers may want to just put him on the radar in case this wasn't a fluke.
Mar 20 - 10:57 PM

John Henson had 11 points, six rebounds and a block in 25 minutes of Tuesday's blowout win over the Pistons.

Henson saw extra minutes with Larry Sanders in foul trouble, Ersan Ilyasova having a quiet night, and a blowout over the second half of the game. This was easily Henson's best game over his last five, but garbage time was a huge factor. Continue to ignore him for now.
Jan 29 - 10:16 PM

Jim Boylan said that rookie John Henson has "a lot of growing to do, a lot of learning to do."

Since Boylan took over, Henson hasn't been a big part of the rotation at all. Henson was a DNP-Coach's Decision in his last game and is currently waiver wire fodder in standard formats.
Jan 29 - 9:30 AM

John Henson was an afterthought for the Bucks on Saturday, scoring five points with one rebound in seven minutes off the bench.

Prior to this vanishing act, the rookie big man was averaging 10.4 points, 8.3 boards and 1.1 swats in January. He could easily bounce back vs. the Sixers on Tuesday, but it's not a gamble we're comfortable with after tonight's disaster.
Jan 20 - 1:00 AM

John Henson scored 10 points to go with six rebounds, one assist and one block in 22 minutes vs. the Suns on Thursday.

His Achilles heel struck again, as he missed both of his attempts from the free throw line to lower his season percentage to 48.9 percent. Henson played in just 17.4 minutes per game in his previous five, but was still able to average 9.4 points and 6.4 boards in that stretch. He's worth a look for big-needy owners.
