Perry Jones signed a D-League contract on Thursday.

Jones will now enter Saturday's D-League draft and will spend some time in the D-League as he attempts to play his way back into the NBA. We'll keep an eye on where he lands, but Jones can be ignored by fantasy owners.
Oct 29 - 12:24 PM

Perry Jones has cleared waivers and is now "pondering" his NBA future.

The Celtics tried to trade him instead of waiving him, but they probably didn't get a lot of interest. Jones is certainly good enough for an NBA roster and maybe his injury history caused teams to pass on him, but we will let you know where he ends up.

Celtics waive F Perry Jones.

The Celtics were going to try to trade him, but they had zero leverage. Jones is likely going to wind up on another team with a number of teams dropping below 15 on their roster. He is unlikely to have fantasy value.

The Celtics will try to trade Perry Jones instead of waiving him.

They have until Monday to do it. The Celtics don't have any leverage here, so they would get next to nothing back and they have a fairly deep roster anyway. Maybe the 76ers give him a look for nothing because of Robert Covington's (knee) injury.

Perry Jones is still hoping he can secure a spot on the Celtics final roster.

Rookie R.J. Hunter's strong play combined with Jones' lackluster play has Jones on the bubble and he's hoping to change that. "I just want to prove that because of circumstances, I haven’t been myself," he said. "I’m a much better player than I’ve shown." We'll keep an eye on this situation, but Jones doesn't have any fantasy value even if he's able to land on the Celtics final roster.
Oct 20 - 11:55 AM

The Celtics may not be able to keep Perry Jones on their roster.

You can blame R.J. Hunter for this one. Jones really showed his ceiling last year in a huge opportunity to step up for the Thunder while Kevin Durant was out. Jones can be ignored in all leagues.

Perry Jones III (personal) returned to practice on Monday.

Jones had a death in the family, but he's now back with the club. He's not a lock for the final roster.
Oct 12 - 11:38 AM

Perry Jones (personal) is expected to return to the Celtics on Monday.

Jones was away from the team on an excused absence due to a death in his family, but he should be back in action for the Celtics next preseason game against the Nets on Wednesday.
Oct 11 - 3:13 PM

Perry Jones had a death in his family, and he will return stateside before Boston's game against Real Madrid on Thursday.

Jones is fighting for a roster spot in Boston, but he was used minimally during Tuesday's preseason game, putting up two points, two rebounds and one assist through seven minutes. The Celtics next stateside match will be on October 14 vs. the Nets, so Jones will more than likely be back with the club at that point.
Oct 6 - 6:18 PM

Perry Jones (knee) expects to play in Tuesday's exhibition game vs. Olimpi Milano.

Additionally, Jones expects to return to practice on Sunday. Considering Jones is on the roster bubble, this is excellent news and he will get a chance to prove why he deserves a spot on the team. However, even if he does claim the final roster spot, Jones would have a tough time finding minutes in a very crowded frontcourt.
Oct 3 - 1:05 PM

Perry Jones is dealing with a sore right knee according to the Celtics.

Jones is sitting out of practice for the second straight day and is sporting a wrap on his knee, but he is still expected to travel with the team to Europe. It sounds like the injury is minor, but it doesn't help that his roster spot isn't a guarantee. We will update his status when we know more.
Oct 2 - 12:21 PM

Perry Jones is ready to compete for a roster spot in Boston.

"It’s a great opportunity," Jones said. "It’s a lot of guys on the roster. That’s just going to make the competition that much better. Guys are going to be fighting for playing time and minutes; that’s good." Jones isn't a lock to make the Celtics' opening-night roster, but he's more than willing to try and earn himself a spot with his play through training camp. Boston is incredibly crowded on the wings, so even if Jones does make the team, he won't be worth drafting in most leagues.

Sep 26 - 12:16 PM

Perry Jones will need to prove himself during training camp in order to land on the Celtics' regular-season roster.

When Celtics' GM Danny Ainge was asked what Jones will need to do during training camp in order to guarantee him a spot in Boston he responded, "Just that he can help us win, same as everybody else. Perry's a terrific talent. He's been in, he works really hard. He's a great kid, great attitude and I'm excited to see what he can provide." Jones has an intriguing skill set, but if he does start the year in Boston, he'll be buried on the depth chart. For now, he's not worth drafting in most leagues.

Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe believes that Perry Jones isn't a lock to make Boston's final roster.

Washburn also said that the Celtics are unlikely to reach an agreement with Jones on a new contract before the Oct. 31 deadline, so he is expected to be a restricted free agent next summer. Jones showed flashes of his potential with the Thunder last season, but the Celtics are extremely deep this season and he is going to have a tough time cracking the rotation. Jones isn't on the fantasy radar.
