Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe believes that Perry Jones isn't a lock to make Boston's final roster.
Washburn also said that the Celtics are unlikely to reach an agreement with Jones on a new contract before the Oct. 31 deadline, so he is expected to be a restricted free agent next summer. Jones showed flashes of his potential with the Thunder last season, but the Celtics are extremely deep this season and he is going to have a tough time cracking the rotation. Perry Jones isn't a lock to make the Celtics' final roster, according to beat writer Jay King.

The Celtics are expected to waive Zoran Dragic, leaving them with 16 guaranteed contracts, and Jones is a likely candidate to be jettisoned. Boston could also trim the roster via trades, with Evan Turner and Jared Sullinger both mentioned as possible players to be moved, but Jones may need to have an impressive training camp to stay in Boston this season. Given the Celtics' depth at the forward positions, he's not a realistic fantasy option.

Perry Jones said that he believes he can bring a lot of athleticism, passion and energy to the Celtics this season.

"Whatever they need," Jones said in regards to what he can bring to the Celtics. "Mostly athleticism. I haven’t had a chance to showcase that -- playing-wise -- because of opportunities I had and or didn’t have. One thing I can bring is a lot of athleticism, energy and a lot of passion." Jones had some good moments last season with the Thunder when Kevin Durant suffered a foot injury, but he too couldn't stay healthy and only played in 43 games. Jones isn't expected to see a lot of minutes this season, so he isn't on the fantasy radar at the moment.

Perry Jones said he's looking forward to a fresh start with the Celtics.

After three forgettable seasons with the Thunder, Jones said he's looking forward to playing in a new system in Boston. "I'm just happy I got a fresh start," he said. "It's something I feel like I needed to be able to play the way I'm capable of playing." While Jones has the potential for a big game here and there, he's unlikely to see enough minutes to make a difference for fantasy owners.
Jul 30 - 1:04 PM

The Thunder will be trading Perry Jones and a future second-round pick to the Celtics on Tuesday.

The Celtics will send over a protected second-round pick, and a trade exception worth $2.1 million, so this is a pure cost saving move for the Thunder. OKC saves roughly $7 million with this trade, and they also open up a potential roster spot for Josh Huestis. Jones will struggle to find consistent minutes playing in Boston's crowded rotation. He won't be worth drafting in any league, despite the change of scenery.
Jul 14 - 2:36 PM

Perry Jones would likely be traded to the Nets in the proposed trade involving Reggie Jackson and Brook Lopez.

Jones had a couple bright spots this season, but he's only played a combined 16 minutes this month. He should get more playing time with the Nets, but it certainly isn't enough to grab him in most fantasy leagues.
Feb 19 - 1:18 PM

Perry Jones (ankle) will not play against the Magic on Monday.

He had a couple bright spots back in November, but Jones hasn't been the same since Russell Westbrook returned. He can be dropped in most leagues. Expect Dion Waiters and Anthony Morrow to get more minutes.
Feb 2 - 6:41 PM

Perry Jones made another start for Kevin Durant (toe) on Wednesday and missed all five of his shots and failed to score in an ugly loss at New York.

The Thunder are just trying to claw their way into the playoffs and the latest injury to Durant is not helping, and neither is Jones. He's done nothing in his last two starts for KD and should be ignored going forward.
Jan 29 - 12:48 AM

Perry Jones started for Kevin Durant (toe) on Monday against the Wolves, scoring six points on 2-of-6 shooting with three rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Jones may have a future in fantasy leagues at some point, but for now he's waiver wire fodder.
Jan 26 - 11:43 PM

Perry Jones will start for Kevin Durant on Monday.

He has been out of the rotation, but he'll slide into the starting unit tonight. While Jones did have a few big games earlier this year, that came with Russell Westbrook out of the lineup. He's still a very risky play tonight.
Jan 26 - 7:28 PM

Perry Jones will likely head back to the bench with coach Scott Brooks confirming that Kevin Durant (ankle) will return on Wednesday.

Jones wasn't holding value even when Durant was sidelined, so Jones can be cut across the board. We will let you know if he works his way back onto the fantasy radar in deeper leagues.

Perry Jones scored 14 points over 31 minutes of action during the Thunder's Christmas Day win over the Spurs.

Jones shot 5-of-7 from the field (two 3-pointers) but only managed to pull down one rebound while adding doughnuts to all the other statistical categories. His minutes have been up while Kevin Durant (ankle) has been sidelined, but he really hasn't done much with the increased opportunity. The waiver wire seems like a suitable place for PJ3.

Perry Jones started at SF with Kevin Durant (ankle) out on Tuesday, but he went scoreless with three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes vs. the Trail Blazers.

Jones, who scored 12 points on Sunday, missed all five of his shots and remains too inconsistent for fantasy use even when Durant is unavailable. With KD day-to-day, Jones belongs on the waiver wire in all formats.
Tue, Dec 23, 2014 11:38:00 PM

Coach Scott Brooks said he needs more out of Perry Jones.

After a nightmare performance without any stats against the Lakers on Friday, Jones had 12 points and four rebounds on Sunday. He should continue to start while Kevin Durant (ankle) is on the mend, which shouldn't be much longer. Leave him on the wire.

Perry Jones scored 12 points in the starting lineup on Sunday, adding four boards, one block and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.

Kevin Durant (ankle) should return any day now, but Jones will be worth a look in deeper leagues if KD continues to miss time. Owners in standard leagues can probably do much better.
