Perry Jones started at small forward on Wednesday, but hit just 1-of-9 shots for three points and three rebounds in 31 minutes.
The minutes and shots were there, but they weren't falling. If he keeps the starting gig for as long as Kevin Durant is out, he's going to have some nice games, as well as some duds. Oct 30 - 2:14 AM

Date:

Perry Jones will start at small forward for the Thunder, according to Scott Brooks.

With Kevin Durant out for the next two to three months with a broken foot, Jones is going to get some nice run, and qualifies as a fantasy sleeper until further notice.
Oct 29 - 2:24 AM

Perry Jones III (knee) and Andre Roberson (ankle) did not practice on Saturday.

This is getting ridiculous. While Jones is probably getting a day off, it's still hard to believe how many OKC wings are missing time. Assuming everything is OK, Jones will have some late-round upside in deeper leagues with Anthony Morrow (knee) out to start the season.
Oct 25 - 1:33 PM

The Thunder exercised their fourth-year option on Perry Jones III.

It's an obvious move and he'll have his best chance to put up numbers this season. Jones could start at small forward with Kevin Durant (foot) out, which makes sense because he can play the stretch four -- like KD does. He's on the radar in deep leagues.
Oct 22 - 8:11 PM

Perry Jones came off the bench again on Tuesday and hit 6-of-13 shots and two 3-pointers for 20 points, four rebounds and an assist.

He's still battling for the starting SF job in the absence of Kevin Durant (broken foot), but it's also possible that Anthony Morrow has won the job. Either way, Jones should get a lot of run off the bench and is worth a late look in most fantasy leagues, along with Morrow. Jones hit just 6-of-11 free throws tonight, which is something to keep an eye on if you're thinking about drafting him.
Oct 21 - 11:07 PM

Perry Jones came off the bench on Sunday but still led the Thunder with 21 points on 7-of-15 FGs and 5-of-8 FTs, eight rebounds and one block in 30 minutes.

He also sank a pair of 3-pointers and is the favorite to start at SF while Kevin Durant (foot) is sidelined. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end, short-term option capable of contributing a trickle of across-the-board stats.
Oct 19 - 10:14 PM

Perry Jones made 4-of-14 from the field for nine points with two rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes.

He started at power forward and is the heavy favorite to start at small forward on opening night. Jones' ability to play the four is a big reason why he might take on most of Kevin Durant's (foot) minutes. Fantasy owners can consider him in deep leagues, but he's not on the radar in standards.
Oct 16 - 10:37 PM

Perry Jones started for the Thunder on Tuesday and hit 5-of-6 shots and a 3-pointer for 12 points, two rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes.

We're guessing he gets the start at small forward for Kevin Durant, who will miss a couple months with a broken foot, but it's also possible that Jeremy Lamb or Anthony Morrow could get the job. If Perry wins it, he's going to be worth a late draft pick in fantasy leagues.
Oct 15 - 1:11 AM

The Thunder's starting lineup for Tuesday features Russell Westbrook, Andre Roberson, Perry Jones, Lance Thomas and Steven Adams.

Roberson's defense makes him a likely starter for coach Scott Brooks, and Perry Jones could also fill in at SF while Kevin Durant (foot) is on the sidelines. Thomas and Adams may lose their starting jobs once Serge Ibaka (ankle) and Kendrick Perkins (quad) return to action, and at the moment there are more questions than answers in OKC. Brooks could also slide Roberson to SF with Anthony Morrow, Reggie Jackson or Jeremy Lamb at SG, so fantasy owners should keep a close eye on the Thunder as the preseason winds down.

Perry Jones III started in place of Serge Ibaka (ankle) on Friday, finishing with two points and two boards in 15 minutes.

Jones is just getting over his knee injury and was a late scratch on Wednesday. He has no fantasy value.
Oct 11 - 12:53 PM

Perry Jones III (knee) will start at the power forward spot on Friday.

Interesting. Jones is a bulky wing player, but he's certainly not a natural four. Fantasy owners can ignore him in most formats.
Oct 10 - 7:09 PM

Perry Jones III (knee) is scheduled to play for Dallas on Friday.

Jones has been recovering from knee surgery and was held out of Wednesday's preseason game. In two seasons with the Thunder, Jones is yet to make an impact. After the departure of Caron Butler, he may finally be getting his chance as the back up to Kevin Durant at small forward.
Oct 9 - 6:00 PM

Perry Jones III (knee) surgery is a late scratch for Wednesday night.

He was expected to play and is getting close to a return. Jones is expected to back up Kevin Durant this season.
Oct 8 - 9:10 PM

Perry Jones III (knee surgery) did not play in the Thunder's scrimmage on Sunday.

He said he'll be ready for training camp, but must not be at 100 percent. Jones III is a candidate to start at shooting guard for the Thunder this season, but he won't get enough shots or chances with the ball to have fantasy value in most leagues.
Oct 6 - 10:39 AM

Perry Jones III (knee) will be ready for training camp.

He played in four Orlando Pro Summer League, averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 boards, 1.0 blocks and 2.3 triples. Jones needed arthroscopic surgery just three days after summer league on July 14, so it's not a surprise to see him ready for camp. Despite the nice output this summer, he's still not an option in almost any fantasy league.
