Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle has been impressed by John Jenkins.
"The learning curve is always going to be there with young players," Carlisle said. "You know, we’ve got some young guys that are getting a real chance to play and are learning things. That said, I really like Jenkins. You know, Jenkins has played a real aggressive game both of the last two nights. He’s shown he can handle the ball a little bit. He’s done a good job, and he’s got to continue doing what he’s been doing." Jenkins could carve out a decent role off the bench if he continues to impress, so owners in deeper leagues can simply add him to their watch list for now. Oct 10 - 9:42 AM

John Jenkins led the Mavericks with 19 points in 29 minutes on Wednesday, hitting three 3-pointers with five rebounds and two blocks.

The Mavs deployed a brutal starting lineup - Raymond Felton, Jenkins, Justin Anderson, Charlie Villanueva and Samuel Dalembert. It's great to see Jenkins step up when his team needs him, but this is a quintessential preseason performance -- he hadn't scored 19 points or blocked two shots in any game over the past two seasons. Ignore him unless Wes Matthews (Achilles) suffers a setback.

John Jenkins said he got some advice when he spoke to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban last week.

Jenkins said he spoke to Cuban after signing with Dallas last week and got some advice from the Mavs owners. "He told me just to make buckets," said Jenkins. "That’s what I do best, and that’s what I’m going to do." Jenkins has the potential to earn a spot in the Mavs rotation, but he doesn't have much more fantasy potential outside of deeper leagues.

Mavs sign G John Jenkins.

The last two years of the deal are not guaranteed, but he'll be on the roster for the 2015-16 season. Jenkins has struggled to stay healthy in his career and has played in just 37 games in the past two seasons combined. Although, he's been an effective scorer as a shooting guard, posting a true shooting percentage of 62.9 last season.

SG John Jenkins signed a three-year deal with the Mavs according to Real GM.

Jenkins will make the minimum and get a partial guarantee for the last two years of the deal. Injuries haven't helped his career and he'll need to show us something before he lands on the fantasy radar.

The Knicks are reportedly among "several teams" with interest in free agent SG John Jenkins.

Jenkins was a stealthy contributor off the Hawks' bench for the past three seasons, averaging 5.6 points on 45.1 percent FGs, 84.9 percent FTs, and 37.5 percent shooting from downtown. His 3-point shooting alone should earn him a solid contract, but his reserve-role status makes him a dubious fantasy target.
Jul 7 - 7:32 PM

Unrestricted free agent John Jenkins has reportedly received interest from as many as six NBA teams.

Jenkins will be a backup wherever he signs, so the jersey he is wearing will not affect on his non-existent fantasy value.
Jul 2 - 5:14 PM

John Jenkins stepped up with a season-high 17 points in his third start of the season on Sunday, making 6-of-12 shots with two 3-pointers in place of Kyle Korver (rest).

He stole the ball three times while adding three rebounds and two assists without any turnovers in 35 minutes, and the offense should be enough to satisfy fantasy owners who rolled the dice on him today. Korver is due back on Monday so this was likely a one-night-only show from Jenkins.
Apr 12 - 8:52 PM

John Jenkins will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Wizards with Kyle Korver (rest) unavailable.

The Hawks will go with a starting lineup of Dennis Schroder, Jenkins, Kent Bazemore, Mike Muscala, and Elton Brand as they do their best 76ers impersonation. Through two starts this season, Jenkins has put in averages of 12.0 points and 2.5 three-pointers per game, so he makes sense as a streamer option for owners in deep leagues trying to close the gap in the 3-point category.
Apr 12 - 4:48 PM

John Jenkins (illness) returned to action on Friday, playing five minutes with six points, two boards and two 3-pointers.

Jenkins might be worth a look if there are mass DNPs, but let's see that happen before entertaining any talk of real fantasy value.
Apr 10 - 11:13 PM

John Jenkins (illness) will not play against the Nets on Wednesday.

The Hawks are on a road back-to-back game tonight, so there could be a lot of players resting tonight. If that's the case, there should be a lot of minutes available for Shelvin Mack and Kent Bazemore.
Apr 8 - 4:27 PM

John Jenkins drew the start against the Hornets on Saturday with 16 points, one rebound, three assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

He was busy on offense as the main floor spacer in halfcourt and played more minutes than any other backcourt Hawk. Jenkins is probably going to have some sneaky value in deep leagues, but he's probably about fourth on the pecking order for Hawk adds behind Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore and Mike Muscala.
Mar 28 - 9:22 PM

Dennis Schroder, John Jenkins, Kent Bazemore, Mike Muscala and Elton Brand will start against the Hornets on Saturday.

The only mild surprise is Jenkins starting over Shelvin Mack and Thabo Sefolosha at shooting guard. Sefolosha only played 10.0 minutes per game in his last two, so he's likely still on a minutes limit. Expect Mack to get around 15 minutes at point guard with 10-15 more minutes coming at the shooting guard spot. Bazemore should see see 32-36 minutes and could get double-digit shot attempts with other stats, as well. Muscala could also be a threat for a double-double and is worth a look in daily leagues.
Mar 28 - 5:33 PM

John Jenkins (wrist strain) is probable for Friday's game against the Suns.

Jenkins isn't a major part of the Hawks rotation, so whether he plays or not should be of no concern to owners in standard leagues.
Mar 12 - 4:09 PM

John Jenkins, Mike Muscala and Kent Bazemore will start against the 76ers on Saturday.

They're starting for Paul Millsap, DeMarre Carroll and Kyle Korver. Among these three starters, Bazemore is probably the most intriguing of the bunch. Mike Scott will likely get minutes in the 20s and should have a high enough shot total to make a splash for owners looking to stream.
