John Jenkins, Shelvin Mack and Mike Scott will play on the Hawks' summer league team.
While Mack is unlikely to usurp Jeff Teague at point guard, Jenkins and Scott could carve out meaningful roles next season depending on how the Hawks' offseason plays out. Lou Williams is recovering from ACL surgery and is unlikely to be ready for opening night. Even if Williams is ready, he might be a better fit as Atlanta's sixth man, possibly giving Jenkins a chance at some solid minutes on the wing next season. As for Scott, his role likely depends on what happens with Josh Smith in free agency. Scott played well down the stretch and showed enough promise that he could figure prominently in the Hawks' rotation next season if Smith bolts Atlanta. May 1 - 5:19 PM

Date:

John Jenkins started and had 20 points, three boards, three assists and zero 3-pointers on 8-of-19 shooting in Wednesday's loss.

He was 0-for-6 from downtown but the Hawks got to take a good look at both Jenkins and fellow rookie Mike Scott over the past couple weeks, and both players looked good. Once the starters are all back in action on Sunday at Indiana for Game 1 of the playoffs, both rookies will likely return to bench roles for the Hawks.
Apr 18 - 12:19 AM

John Jenkins played 33 minutes off the Hawks bench to finish with 21 points, six assists and three 3-pointers on 8-of-13 shooting in the Hawks' win.

He had his season high of 23 on Saturday when the Hawks sat the starters and was great again tonight. The Hawks playoff position is still not set, but even so, it would not be surprising to see Jenkins continue to get decent run the rest of the way.
Apr 10 - 10:23 PM

John Jenkins returned from a concussion vs. the Spurs on Saturday, hitting 7-of-9 FGs and 6-of-6 FTs for a season-high 23 points.

He went 3-of-3 from downtown with four rebounds and four assists, a stellar performance that nobody could have seen coming, regardless of who was absent for the Hawks (the list includes Devin Harris and Kyle Korver). This eruption was encouraging for Jenkins' future, but we're not inclined to recommend him in the final week of the fantasy season.
Apr 6 - 11:17 PM

John Jenkins (concussion) took part in shootaround but did not play on Friday.

This is significant as Jenkins has been out with a concussion, but he won't play on Friday. The rookie is targeting Saturday against the Spurs for his return.
Apr 5 - 11:02 AM

John Jenkins (concussion) did some light shooting on Thursday.

It's not clear what his timetable is right now, but the fact he's doing some light shooting is a good sign his return shouldn't be too far away.
Apr 4 - 12:09 PM

John Jenkins (concussion) will not play on Wednesday against the Knicks.

Jenkins will miss his third straight game and there is no timetable for his return. Shelvin Mack and DeShawn Stevenson are candidates to pick up a few extra minutes with Jenkins sidelined.
Apr 3 - 11:07 AM

John Jenkins (mild concussion) will not play against the Magic on Saturday.

He sustained a concussion on Friday and the Hawks aren't going to bring him back until he's cleared all the medical tests. Shelvin Mack scored 12 points with nine assists on Friday, so he might be able to turn in another productive game. Obviously, this is deep league territory.
Mar 30 - 4:54 PM

John Jenkins suffered a mild concussion in Friday's game against the Celtics and will not return.

He's been fairly productive for the Hawks as a backup guard. Jenkins shot a sterling 54 percent from the field in his previous 10 games for 7.2 points in 16.5 minutes. Shelvin Mack figures to pick up the slack and is only worth a look in very, very deep leagues.
Mar 29 - 8:35 PM

John Jenkins shot 4-of-8 from the field for 12 points with four boards, two assist and two 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday.

He shot the ball well and was a big contributor down the stretch. Jeff Teague doesn't figure to miss too much time, so there's not much incentive to pick up Jenkins.
Mar 14 - 12:07 AM

John Jenkins was held scoreless on 0-of-3 shooting in the rookie's first career start Monday.

Jenkins got the start alongside Jeff Teague with Devin Harris (ankle) and Lou Williams (torn ACL) sidelined. Despite the opportunity, the rookie played just 13 minutes and doesn't really deserve your attention in most formats.
Jan 21 - 5:33 PM

John Jenkins will move into the starting lineup on Monday.

Jenkins will start at shooting guard with Jeff Teague, Josh Smith, Al Horford and Zaza Pachulia rounding out the starting five. With Devin Harris (ankle) and Lou Williams (knee) unavailable, Kyle Korver will come off the bench.
Jan 21 - 12:40 PM

John Jenkins played a season-high 26 minutes and responded with 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers on 4-of-6 shooting on Tuesday.

He played a total of 15 minutes in his previous two games and failed to score in both, but had 15 points and two 3-pointers on Jan. 31, when he played 24 minutes. Those are his only two games with 20-plus minutes this season, but Larry Drew is trying to find more minutes for the rookie. If you're in a deep league, put him on your radar.
Jan 9 - 12:59 AM

Larry Drew wants to find more minutes for rookie John Jenkins.

Jenkins has played well in the absence of both Devin Harris and Anthony Morrow, prompting Larry Drew to rethink his rotations. "I've got to find some minutes for him," Drew said. Jenkins can knock down the 3-point shot, but he needs to show more consistency for fantasy owners to get excited.
Jan 2 - 11:02 AM

Rookie SG John Jenkins scored 15 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 6-of-9 shots (including two threes) with one rebound, two assists, one steal, and one block in 24 minutes.

The Hawks ran with their bench unit in the fourth quarter and Jenkins saw extended minutes as a result. He scored 10 points on Saturday and these are positive steps, but he needs to show some consistency before he's worthy of attention in most, if not all formats.
