Andrew Nicholson returned to the rotation on Sunday with eight points, one rebound and one assist in 23 minutes off the bench.
Nicholson may have picked up another DNP-CD if Aaron Gordon (concussion) were healthy, so this doesn't have any real implications. Apr 10 - 8:30 PM

Andrew Nicholson was a DNP-CD on Friday.

Scott Skiles strikes again. The Magic went small, which has barely happened all season. Nicholson might play more next time, but who knows?
Apr 8 - 10:17 PM

Andrew Nicholson's late-season surge continued on Sunday with just 10 points, six rebounds, three 3-pointers, one assist, one steal and zero turnovers in 19 minutes.

The 26-year-old PF has now scored double-digit points in six straight games, with a steady 1.7 triples per game. He'll grab a handful of rebounds to go with the scoring but that's about it, limiting his appeal to deeper formats and DFS lineups.
Apr 3 - 8:49 PM

Andrew Nicholson hit all nine of his shots, was 3-of-3 from downtown and hit 3-of-6 free throws on his way to a career-high 24 points, three rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes Tuesday.

We'd like to tell you this was simply a garbage-time special (because it probably was), but the fact is that Nicholson has been playing well. He's averaging 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 3-pointers over his last five games, and those numbers could go up if the Magic go into full tank-mode with the playoffs out of reach.
Mar 29 - 11:08 PM

Andrew Nicholson scored 14 points with six rebounds, one block and one 3-pointer against the Bulls on Saturday.

There is no talk of Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) on track to return, so maybe Nicholson gets some run as the backup power forward. Still, it's tough to add the Canadian big man in very deep leagues unless we get word Ghostface Ilya is out for extended time.
Mar 26 - 10:19 PM

Andrew Nicholson scored a season-high 19 points against the Heat on Friday with six rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes.

He did score nine points in the fourth, so this line is inflated. On the other hand, Ersan Ilyasova (shoulder) could miss time and Nicholson could get minutes around 20. He's still not worth owning unless you're streaming.
Mar 25 - 11:14 PM

Andrew Nicholson came off the bench to score 15 points vs. the Raptors, making 6-of-14 shots with nine rebounds, two blocks and one assist in just 21 minutes of action.

Nicholson even hit a 3-pointer tonight, and this marks his second double-digit performance in Orlando's past three games. The game in between was a DNP-CD, however, which serves as a clear warning for fantasy owners -- Nicholson's role is too mercurial for use in the majority of leagues.
Mar 20 - 7:59 PM

Andrew Nicholson filled it up in 23 minutes off the bench vs. Charlotte, scoring 13 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) with seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Jason Smith also saw extra playing time with eight points, four boards and two blocks in 19 minutes, and both guys earned more minutes with Nikola Vucevic (groin) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee) out of commission. Scott Skiles divvies up frontcourt minutes based upon matchups and whoever is performing well on a given night, so neither Nicholson nor Smith is a safe option in standard leagues.
Mar 16 - 10:22 PM

Andrew Nicholson scored five points in 12 minutes against the Knicks on Monday with one rebound and one 3-pointer.

Jason Smith took some of Nicholson's minutes tonight and has really been trending down. Nicholson doesn't have much of an upside anyway, so his fantasy owners in deeper leagues probably aren't tied to keeping him.
Mon, Dec 21, 2015 11:24:00 PM

Andrew Nicholson scored 15 points off the bench on Monday with three rebounds, two steals and two 3-pointers.

This was a garbage-time special with 10 points coming in the fourth. Nicholson could be looking at more playing time, but he'll need Channing Frye to falter. Since the rotation change on Nov. 25, Nicholson has held 11th-round value over his last 10. He's more of a 14- or 16-team guy with limited upside.

Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel believes that the Magic could turn to Andrew Nicholson at power forward over Channing Frye.

Nicholson's career has been revitalized under head coach Scott Skiles, and he's averaging 9.0 points, 6.4 boards and 1.0 3-pointers over his last five games. Meanwhile, Frye has really struggled and has averaged just 2.2 points on 21.4 percent shooting over his last five, and it should be noted that Skiles said that he would consider shaking things up after the Magic were blown out by the Cavs on Friday. If you need a low-end big, give Nicholson a look.
Sun, Dec 13, 2015 09:50:00 AM

Andrew Nicholson scored nine points with three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 14 minutes against the Suns on Wednesday.

He had five fouls, so that probably explains the low playing time. Since the rotation change on Nov. 25, Nicholson has played 23.2 minutes per game, but he doesn't block many shots and only has a 17.9 usage rate. He's only put up 11th-round value in that span, which is pretty close to his ceiling.
Thu, Dec 10, 2015 12:47:00 AM

Andrew Nicholson scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with a career-high 14 rebounds on Tuesday vs. the Nuggets.

He played 21 minutes off the bench and head coach Scott Skiles has basically turned him into the primary big off the bench. Nicholson has averages of 11.4 points, 7.4 boards and 1.2 3-pointers in 24.4 minutes per game over his last five, so give him a look while he's hot.
Tue, Dec 8, 2015 11:26:00 PM

Andrew Nicholson scored 14 points in 24 minutes against the Jazz on Thursday with two rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers.

Coach Scott Skiles absolutely loves him as a backup power forward. Nicholson is basically the new Nemanja Bjelica as the backup power forward with range and backing up a player who plays in the teens. If you want to ride him until Skiles changes his mind, he's worth a look in standard leagues.
Fri, Dec 4, 2015 12:39:00 AM

Andrew Nicholson played 31 minutes, hit 6-of-11 shots and finished with 15 points and six rebounds in Tuesday's win.

Channing Frye was scoreless in another start tonight and you have to wonder if Nicholson is the next player up. Nicholson feels like a Scott Skiles guy, He's averaging 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five, and those numbers would likely go up if he replaces Frye as the starting PF.
