Tyler Zeller started at center on Monday and hit 4-of-7 shots for 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block in 25 minutes.
Al Horford wasn't with the team due to the birth of a child, but will be back on Tuesday. And that means Zeller will return to his bench role for their next game. If you started him tonight he was serviceable, but he's not worth using going forward as long as Horford is healthy and playing. Nov 28 - 10:20 PM

Date:

Tyler Zeller will start as expected on Monday vs. the Heat.

The Celtics will need his size against Hassan Whiteside, so Kelly Olynyk will come off the bench. Al Horford (personal) will be back with the team on Tuesday, so there's no need to grab Zeller off the waiver wire.
Nov 28 - 7:05 PM

Celtics coach Brad Stevens is leaning towards starting Tyler Zeller on Monday vs. the Heat.

Kelly Olynyk was the usual starter when Al Horford (personal) missed time with a concussion, but it makes sense to go big with Zeller to match up with Hassan Whiteside. Even if Zeller starts, he's a low-end option in most formats.
Nov 28 - 6:11 PM

Tyler Zeller played 16 minutes with seven points, six rebounds and one block against the Pacers on Saturday.

Kelly Olynyk is way ahead of him. Zeller is a drop candidate almost everywhere with Al Horford (concussion) almost back.
Nov 12 - 11:25 PM

Tyler Zeller scored 11 points (3-of-6 FGs, 5-of-7 FTs) with four rebounds, two steals and one block in 21 minutes vs. the Knicks on Friday.

Kelly Olynyk moved into the starting lineup at the expense of Zeller and went off for 19 points, but both players could take a hit with Al Horford (concussion) possibly returning on the Celtics' road trip. Zeller is only an option in deeper leagues for now and may even be out of the rotation soon.
Nov 11 - 11:33 PM

Tyler Zeller will come off the bench on Friday vs. the Knicks.

Zeller was benched during the second half of Wednesday's game in favor of Kelly Olynyk, so KO is going to get his chance to impress with the first unit tonight. Both Zeller and Olynyk could be pretty irrelevant when Al Horford (concussion) returns, though.
Nov 11 - 5:41 PM

Tyler Zeller was benched to begin the third quarter on Wednesday, finishing a sloppy loss to the Wizards with six points, two boards and one block in 14 minutes.

Kelly Olynyk took Zeller's starting spot after a disastrous first half, but both guys face a looming threat from Al Horford (concussion). Leave Zeller on the waiver wire.
Nov 9 - 9:32 PM

Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jaylen Brown, Tyler Zeller and Amir Johnson will start against the Wizards on Wednesday.

The Celtics will bring Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) off the bench and coach Brad Stevens said "we'll see" regarding his role. With Olynyk likely limited, Zeller and Johnson should handle most of the big minutes with plenty of small-ball fours mixed in, as well.
Nov 9 - 5:43 PM

Tyler Zeller started in place of Al Horford (concussion) and hit 5-of-8 shots for 11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two blocks in 28 minutes on Thursday.

Nice. Horford's already missed a couple games and will be day-to-day until further notice. If you need a short-term center, or cheap daily option, Zeller could fit the bill for the next week or so.
Nov 3 - 11:29 PM

Tyler Zeller got the start for Al Horford (concussion) on Wednesday, scoring 11 points with four rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes against the Bulls.

The Celtics were running out of options to play at the four and five with Horford out and Jae Crowder (ankle) going down in the first half. Zeller is beneath Amir Johnson in the pecking order, so he's more of a deep-league add.
Nov 3 - 1:01 AM

Tyler Zeller will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Bulls with Al Horford (concussion) unavailable.

Zeller rarely does much as a starter, so he's not a great fantasy target tonight. Amir Johnson could spend some time at the five in certain small ball lineups with more minutes falling to guys like Jae Crowder, Jaylen Brown and Jonas Jerebko.

Tyler Zeller will likely move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Bulls with Al Horford (concussion) unavailable.

Through three starts last season, Zeller compiled meager averages of 5.3 points and not much else through 11.2 minutes a night, so him moving into the starting unit really doesn't mean much in terms of fantasy hoops. Amir Johnson should see some increased minutes sans Horford, while guys like Jaylen Brown, Jae Crowder and Jonas Jerebko could see an uptick in minutes in some small ball lineups.

Tyler Zeller came off the bench on Saturday, finishing with two points, four boards and a block in 12 minutes of action.

He started the second half over Amir Johnson on Thursday, but things were back to normal tonight. However, Johnson was pretty unimpressive again, so there's a chance Zeller could take his job at some point.
Oct 29 - 10:11 PM

Tyler Zeller started the second half over starter Amir Johnson on Thursday against the Bulls, finishing with six points, five rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 20 minutes.

Coach Brad Stevens trusts his gut on when to start another big next to Horford in the second half, so it's unpredictable. Zeller's minutes should fall in the teens most nights and his value will go down once Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) returns next month.
Oct 27 - 11:12 PM

Tyler Zeller started the second half for Amir Johnson on Thursday.

Coach Brad Stevens does this a lot, but hopefully Al Horford is good enough to avoid this common maneuver. There's no need to add Zeller here.
