Tyler Zeller has agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with the Celtics.
The second year of the deal is a team option, so the Celtics will still keep their financial flexibility for the 2017 offseason. Zeller was solid in limited minutes last season, averaging 6.1 points, 3.0 boards and 0.4 blocks in 11.8 minutes per game. He won't have much fantasy value with Amir Johnson and Al Horford around. Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald does not believe RFA Tyler Zeller will re-sign with the Celtics.

There's just no room for Zeller given the current construction of Boston's frontcourt. Although the big man showed some flashes throughout the 2015-16 season, he'll need to show more on a consistent basis to be a real fantasy threat. It's unlikely he winds up with a team that's going to give him a clear path to minutes.
Jul 6 - 12:12 PM

The Celtics have reportedly extended a qualifying offer to Tyler Zeller, making him a restricted free agent.

Zeller is woefully inconsistent, and it's tough to see him landing in a situation where he's not a backup. He won't be a realistic fantasy option in most settings, regardless of where he signs.
Jun 29 - 2:16 PM

Tyler Zeller scored a career-high tying 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting Friday, to go with three boards, two assists and four blocks in 25 minutes.

Zeller ended Isaiah Thomas' 17-game streak as the Celtics leading scorer in this one, but that's obviously not a trend that will continue. In his previous three outings, Zeller has logged seven, 18 and zero minutes and he’s just not a consistent enough part of the rotation to warrant ownership in most leagues.
Apr 8 - 11:47 PM

Tyler Zeller scored four points with six rebounds and one turnover in 18 minutes against the Jazz on Friday.

He should see minutes close to 20 now that Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) is out and David Lee is gone. Zeller is only worth a look if you missed out on like 20 other pickups from tonight.
Feb 20 - 3:37 AM

Tyler Zeller played only six minutes off the Celtics' bench on Wednesday.

Zeller had a stretch of strong games to begin February, and Brad Stevens recently called him "a stable presence at the rim," but his disappearance tonight is typical of the Celtics' chaotic frontcourt rotation. If you picked him up while he was hot, this is your cue to cut him.
Feb 11 - 12:13 AM

Coach Brad Stevens called Tyler Zeller a "stable presence at the rim."

"Tyler’s always going to run the floor really hard and he’s always going to roll to the rim really hard," Stevens said. "So you’ve got a stable presence at the rim. We were getting some good things from our shooters, so to have a guy that’s going to be at the rim opens up some opportunities for the guys on the perimeter." Over his last four games, Zeller is averaging 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks, but he's played more than 25 minutes just once during that span. The Celtics have a ton of options in the frontcourt, making Zeller a tough player to rely on in standard formats.
Feb 8 - 9:06 AM

Tyler Zeller scored a season-high 17 points vs. Sacramento on Sunday, sinking 6-of-8 FGs and 5-of-5 FTs with seven rebounds, two blocks and one assist.

Zeller did his damage in just 22 minutes and he's demanding a share of frontcourt minutes -- over his past four games he's averaging 13.8 points on 68.6 percent shooting, to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocks. He's playing just 20.8 minutes during that span, however, and most owners should leave him on the wire.
Feb 7 - 4:40 PM

Tyler Zeller scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting Friday, to go with four boards, one assist and three turnovers through 20 minutes of action.

Zeller's playing time has been sporadic throughout the season, but he's been a more consistent part of the rotation over the past three averaging 12.7 points, 6.3 boards and 1.0 block in 20.0 minutes per outing. He's more of a speculative add in really deep leagues, but he could also fall out of the rotation at a moments notice, so don't cut anyone with long-term value to nab him.
Feb 6 - 12:26 AM

Tyler Zeller, who went off for his best game of the season on Tuesday, played just 14 minutes on Wednesday.

He still managed to put up six points, five rebounds, four assists, a steal and three blocks despite the limited minutes. He's played well in two straight games, but minutes are still a big concern and he'll need a bigger role going forward if he's going to warrant a fantasy pickup.
Feb 3 - 11:00 PM

Tyler Zeller played 27 minutes off the bench and hit 8-of-13 shots for a season-high 16 points, 10 rebounds and a steal in Tuesday's win.

We haven't even blurbed him since before Christmas, which was the last time he did anything of significance. Just keep an eye on him and if he suddenly starts playing well and getting minutes, strugglers Amir Johnson and Jared Sullinger will take an even bigger hit.
Feb 2 - 10:51 PM

Tyler Zeller scored a season-high 14 points against the Wolves on Monday with eight rebounds and one block.

He was basically out of the rotation before this game and stepped up because Jared Sullinger (back) and Amir Johnson (foot) were out. Zeller can be left on the wire unless you're in a very deep league.
Mon, Dec 21, 2015 11:59:00 PM

Tyler Zeller played well in 10 minutes vs. Detroit, scoring 12 points with three boards and one assist.

Exactly what Boston's frontcourt needs -- another big man vying for playing time. He was tasked with intentionally fouling Andre Drummond, but wound up giving the Celtics more than just a few extra fouls. It's hard to envision him carving out enough minutes for fantasy relevance at any depth.
Wed, Dec 16, 2015 11:23:00 PM

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens implied that it's tough to get Tyler Zeller minutes in Boston's crowded frontcourt.

"Tyler's a really good player," Stevens said. "We just have a lot of bigs. I don't know how else to say it. We haven't shot it great so you want to play some guys that can stretch the floor and be guarded when the floor is stretched. And that leaves at least one person out." Stevens went on to say that he sees Zeller having a "huge role" for the team, but that's probably wishful thinking. Zeller is averaging just 8.0 minutes per game this season and is well off the fantasy radar.

Tyler Zeller didn't fare well in his move to a bench role, going scoreless with one rebound and one assist in three minutes.

It seems like a matter of time before Zeller drops completely out of the equation, as Boston's six-man frontcourt rotation doesn't seem sustainable. If you haven't cut him yet, do so now.
