Marquis Teague is expected to play in summer league.
Teague is just 20 years old, and although he was forced into playing time this season due to injuries at the point guard position, he'll desperately need some game action to evolve his game. Teague should assume third-string point guard duties next season behind Derrick Rose and Kirk Hinrich. Nate Robinson is not expected to return. May 17 - 8:24 AM

Marquis Teague expressed an understanding at his role in the Bulls rotation.

"You have to be patient," Teague said. "I'm 19. I'm trying to grow as a player and wait for my turn. Playing a lot of minutes in college and not getting to play as much is something I never experienced. But you have to fight through it." Teague's playing time will become even more nonexistent when Derrick Rose returns, so at least the rookie has the right attitude.

Tom Thibodeau praised Marquis Teague, saying the rookie is "playing well."

The Bulls have been banged up at the point position this season, and Teague's been called into action earlier than many had thought. However, with Kirk Hinrich (knee) expected to play Monday, Nate Robinson will resume backing him up, and Teague will be relegated to third-string PG duties. Teague is only on the radar in deeper formats because Hinrich is prone to injuries.

Tom Thibodeau would not commit to giving Marquis Teague more minutes.

Teague played 20 minutes on Wednesday with six points, two boards, four assists and two steals, but Thibodeau isn't sure how he'll use his rookie in the future. It was a season-high in minutes for Teague, who has been a DNP-Coach's Decision regularly this season. With Kirk Hinrich (knee) currently sidelined, Teague should see a short-term bump in minutes.

Marquis Teague's rookie year will "likely be a developmental season."

In other words, don't expect Teague to suddenly challenge for major minutes at point guard. CSN Chicago believes that the 19-year-old could even log some time in the D-League in order to see consistent minutes, and despite Derrick Rose's injury, the Bulls won't rush Teague along. He's not on the fantasy radar.

Bulls sign G Marquis Teague.

Finally, the lone unsigned first-rounder has agreed to a contract. "It feels good to finally get it out of the way," he said. Teague wound up signing for 100 percent of his slotted salary for the first year of his deal, but the remaining years will be slotted at 120 percent.

Marquis Teague expects to sign his rookie contract in the very near future.

"I'm about to get it figured out when I go back," Teague said. "We just pretty much came up with something. So as soon as I go back to Chicago, it'll be done." As we previously said, we never expected Teague and the Bulls to be unable to clear this hurdle, and it sounds like the final 2012 first-round pick without a contract will have one shortly.

Marquis Teague is the only 2012 first-round draft pick who has not signed his contract.

The potential reason Teague has not signed yet is due to money. Normally, teams pay 120 percent of the pay scale the NBA suggests to all rookies drafted in the first round, but because the team is hard capped at $74.3 million, the team wants to retain some financial flexibility. Signing Teague for 120 percent of the suggested scale would give the Bulls less than $600,000 remaining this season. We expect the Bulls to eventually come to terms with Teague and the for the issue to blow over.

Marquis Teague struggled in his first summer league game, missing 13 of 17 shots from the floor.

Teague also committed six turnovers and had just one assist in over 30 minutes of action. "I had a rough game," he said. "I'm ready to bounce back Wednesday." We're not concerned, and we believe Teague will be a lot better than he showed in his first action.

The Bulls took Kentucky PG Marquis Teague with the 29th pick of the draft.

Derrick Rose could miss the whole season after knee surgery and the Bulls decided to get another backup in place. He's slated to play behind C.J. Watson and John Lucas, assuming they're both back with the Bulls. He's quick and athletic, but currently lacks an NBA jumper, which could be an issue.
