Will Barton was impressive off the Blazers' bench on Sunday, piling up 10 points with one 3-pointer, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
He did his damage in 25 minutes and looked comfortable playing alongside Steve Blake with the second unit. Barton and C.J. McCollum are both fighting for the backup SG and third-string PG jobs, and neither guy will have a big enough role to be worth owning in fantasy leagues. Oct 13 - 12:07 AM

Will Barton's rookie contract became fully guaranteed on July 25.

It's not a surprise at all and his 14.4 points per game in summer league only solidified the decision for the Blazers. He scored a career-high 23 points in the 2014 regular-season finale. With Mo Williams gone, Barton is in line for more playing time. He'll compete with second-year guard C.J. McCollum, who is coming off a fantastic summer league.

Will Barton came off the bench for a career-high 23 points, 10 rebounds and three 3-pointers on 7-of-20 shooting.

Robin Lopez led the starters in minutes with just 14 of them tonight, but still managed 15 points and nine rebounds, while LaMarcus Aldridge took the entire night off. The Blazers are healthy and ready for their first-round match up against the Warriors, so don't let tonight's strange box score fool you.

Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts is pleased with the development of SG Will Barton, who has claimed a 10-minute role off the bench.

"Will is more in control this season," Stotts said. Barton is averaging 3.6 points on 42.6 percent shooting this season and there's a good chance that Portland will guarantee his third year before the July 31 deadline.

Will Barton went to the locker room in the second quarter for an elbow injury and has returned.

His arm got tangled up with teammate Thomas Robinson and he was able to walk back to the locker room under his own power. Barton is fine and hopefully can add a highlight-reel dunk for the home folks tonight.
Mar 20 - 10:52 PM

Will Barton came off the bench for a season-high 20 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in Wednesday's blowout win over the Nets.

The Blazers cleared the bench and Barton took advantage tonight. The Blazers won't win by 44 points again this season and LaMarcus Aldridge and Thomas Robinson shouldn't be out much longer. Barton was a blast to watch tonight and probably helped a couple daily-league gamblers, but isn't likely to do anything like this again anytime soon.
Feb 27 - 3:14 AM

Will Barton played 15 minutes against the Wolves on Sunday with five points, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer.

This isn't a huge deal, but Barton has at least temporarily jumped C.J. McCollum for minutes on the wing. If you're in a league with less than 20 people, you can move along. There's nothing to see here.

Will Barton (concussion) returned to action in Friday's preseason game, starting at small forward and scoring eight points on 4-of-5 shooting with four rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 27 minutes.

It's probably more accurate to say the Blazers started a three-guard lineup with Damian Lillard, Barton and Wes Matthews. Once the regular season rolls around Barton will be fighting for a rotation slot.

Will Barton (concussion) will not play in Saturday's scrimmage.

It's not a surprise since Barton has to go through the league's concussion protocol. He should be on the court as soon as he's cleared, but is not likely to be in the rotation to start the season.

Will Barton (concussion) did not practice on Friday, but said he felt "110 percent" better.

Barton will go through the league's concussion protocol, but it sounds like he's likely to get back on the court sooner rather than later. When he returns he's going to be on the outside looking in at a crowded backcourt rotation.

Will Barton was seen limping on Thursday and did not practice due to a concussion.

Perhaps the early observation that he was limping was unfounded, but if it is true that's not a great sign from a concussion point of view. Barton is going to have his work cut out for him trying to crack the Blazers' rotation.

Will Barton returned from his right knee injury and hit a floater to beat the Hawks in Summer League play on Wednesday night.

He missed his last game with a sore knee, but finished with 16 points, eight boards, four assists and seven turnovers in tonight's overtime win. Barton has some skills, but it's still hard to see him stepping up his game enough this season to offer fantasy value. But for tonight, he's the hero. He was 0-of-5 from downtown and 8-of-17 overall in Wednesday's win, but will be playing behind Wesley Matthews this season. Rookie C.J. McCollum had 19 points and three 3-pointers to lead the Blazers tonight.

Will Barton (right knee) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Bulls.

It's minor and there will be no need for medical testing. Barton suffered the injury on Sunday and couldn't put much weight on his right leg. He has a strain in his knee, so that means it's not damage to a ligament. Barton had a strong finish to the year while the Blazers were banged up and should have no problem making the regular-season roster. Victor Claver (thigh bruise) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's game.

Blazers guard Will Barton left Sunday's game with a strained right knee and he will not return.

He went directly into the Blazers' locker room without putting much weight on the injured leg, but the diagnosis of a 'strain' seems encouraging for his prognosis. He'll wait to see how he feels on Monday before deciding whether to have further tests on his knee.

Trail Blazers assistant coach David Vanterpool critiqued Will Barton's performance after he scored 13 points on 5-of-17 shooting during Saturday's exhibition.

"He just has to be a little more patient. Let things happen, let things come to him," said Vanterpool. First game jitters aren't unexpected, especially with Barton eager to seize a bigger role (he played 33 minutes), and we'll see whether he can play a more controlled game vs. the Lakers on Sunday.
