Will Barton started for the Nuggets on Monday and hit 9-of-15 shots and five 3-pointers for 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in Monday's 114-98 win over the Kings.
Barton had a four-point dud on Friday, but has been very good for most of the season. He's averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.4 3-pointers on 53 percent shooting over his last five games. With Paul Millsap and Wilson Chandler hurting right now, Barton looks like a must-own player. Nov 21 - 12:53 AM

Will Barton will start against the Kings on Monday.

The Nuggets are missing Paul Millsap (wrist) and Wilson Chandler (back), so Barton will join Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Kenneth Faried and Nikola Jokic in the first unit. Barton was worth owning when the Nuggets were healthy, but his owners can now expect a considerable bump in value in the short term.
Nov 20 - 9:27 PM

Will Barton started the second half of Sunday's game in place of Paul Millsap (wrist), finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.

Millsap had X-rays on his wrist and the results haven't been announced, but either way Barton should already be owned. He's quietly racking up mid-round value (8-cat and 9-cat) in under 30 minutes per game, which should be sustainable all season.
Nov 20 - 12:39 AM

With Gary Harris (shoulder) returning to the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Will Barton will head back to the bench.

Barton started in place of Harris in each of Denver's last two games, but has been very productive off the bench this season as well. Barton is averaging 14.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 28.5 minutes over 12 games as a reserve. Despite the return of Harris, Barton should be owned in all leagues.
Nov 17 - 1:44 PM

Will Barton got another start for Gary Harris (shoulder) on Monday and had 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Harris should be back for the next one, but Barton has been playing well, getting minutes at point guard, shooting guard and small forward. In fact this was one of his worst games in recent memory, which is saying something. He's averaging 17.8 points, 6.4 boards, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.0 3-pointers on 49 percent shooting over his last five games. He should be owned everywhere.
Nov 14 - 1:19 AM

Will Barton moved into the starting lineup for Gary Harris (shoulder) against the Magic on Saturday, scoring a season-high 26 points with nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and four 3-pointers in 38 minutes.

Will The Thrill is playing some of his best ball of his career, and coach Mike Malone is giving him a lot of responsibility with the ball. On the year, Barton is averaging 15.1 points, 5.4 boards, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.4 blocks and 2.0 treys on 45.8 percent from the field. He's logging minutes at three positions and is a perfect example of how a bench player can put up strong value in fantasy.
Nov 12 - 12:55 AM

Will Barton will start for Gary Harris (shoulder) against the Magic on Saturday.

He has been in a serious groove and now Barton could be looking at minutes in the upper 30s. His move to the first unit should also mean Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay get more run. Plus, Malik Beasley may see minutes in the upper teens.
Nov 11 - 7:29 PM

Coach Michael Malone plans to continue using Will Barton at point guard.

"It is a new era of point guard," coach Malone said. "In today’s NBA, yeah, Will Barton can play point guard... I think now he’s leading the sixth man of the year race because now he’s contributing in so many different areas. He has that type of ability." Barton is third on the team in assists (3.0 dimes per game), while also averaging 14.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 treys. He's inside the top-100 overall in nine-category leagues.
Nov 10 - 12:41 PM

Will Barton scored 13 points with two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one turnover in 31 minutes against the Thunder on Thursday.

Coach Mike Malone loves him and he continues to use him as a ball-handler with plenty of minutes next to the starters. Barton has three strong games in a row with at least 31 minutes in each, so he makes a case to be owned in all standard leagues.
Nov 10 - 1:40 AM

Will Barton came off the bench and hit 7-of-15 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks in 31 minutes of Tuesday's win.

Barton ended up playing a lot of point guard tonight while Jamal Murray and Emmanuel Mudiay struggled, and he came through. Barton doesn't appear to be a threat to Murray's job, despite his struggles, but is playing very well right now, averaging 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.0 3-pointers while hitting 46 percent of his shots over his last five games. It's time to move on him if he's available in your league.
Nov 7 - 11:46 PM

Will Barton scored 21 points with eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in a blowout loss to the Warriors on Saturday.

For the second consecutive home game against Warriors, Barton does damage in a blowout -- he had a 24-point, 10-board game against them on Feb. 13. More importantly, Barton is getting more minutes at point guard and coach Mike Malone said Barton will be an option to close games depending on who has the hot hand. Barton still hasn't quite busted out with consecutive strong games, but he's on the radar in 10-team leagues.
Nov 5 - 12:04 AM

Will Barton scored nine points with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes against the Heat on Friday.

He closed this game out at point guard and he played defense on Dion Waiters to help seal this win. Wilson Chandler said that Barton told him he wanted to guard Waiters before the key game-ending play, so maybe coach Mike Malone goes back to him in some spots. Barton is just clinging to top-150 value on the year, so he's not the strongest property to own in fantasy while the Nuggets are healthy.
Nov 4 - 2:03 AM

Will Barton attributed his success this season to "playing closer to the ground."

"When you’re low, you make better plays and if a play is not there, you can always bring it back," Barton said. "When you’re up high, it’s kind of hard to retract yourself like that. It’s good for me on all levels – defense, offense, both ends. It’s something I’ve been harping on, and just keep getting better at it." You can't argue with the results, as Barton is averaging 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 triples through six games.
Oct 30 - 10:50 AM

Will Barton scored 15 points with five rebounds, three assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Kings on Saturday.

The best news for Barton is that coach Mike Malone is only going with Barton as a bench wing. He's handling the ball a good amount and will always carry the second unit on the offensive end. He should be owned in all leagues.
Oct 22 - 1:16 AM

Will Barton scored a team-high 23 points off the bench in Wednesday's opener, making 8-of-14 FGs with three 3-pointers, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.

Barton also went 4-of-4 at the line during 31 minutes of action, and he was one of the few bright spots for Denver during their opening-night defeat. He tends to get lost in the mix for fantasy purposes, but there are plenty of reasons to like him -- he's entering his prime, he has demonstrated top-100 value in category leagues (2015-16), and he's playing for a massive payday in the final year of his contract.
