Will Barton hit 9-of-19 shots and two 3-pointers for 20 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals in 43 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Spurs.
Barton has now scored 20 or more in three of his last five games after struggling through much of January, and just like Wilson Chandler, looks like he's locked into a big role for the Nuggets going forward. The Nuggets are the No. 6 seed in the West, but are in a dogfight with the Thunder, Blazers, Pelicans, Clippers and Jazz, so they should be running at full speed through the end of the season. Barton should be owned in all leagues. Feb 14 - 1:33 AM

Will Barton (ankle) was good for 25 points over 42 minutes in Saturday's 123-113 victory on the road against the Suns.

Barton rolled his ankle at one point, limped off the floor and took his shoe off on the bench. He didn't miss much time, obviously, as he rolled up 42 minutes in the game. After the game he said, "it hurts, but I'll be fine." There was no way he was coming off against the NBA's worst defensive club, and he didn't appear affected as he shot 10-of-14 from the field, including 4-of-6 from behind the 3-point line. He'll face much more resistance in his next outing Tuesday against the Spurs.
Feb 11 - 12:44 AM

Will Barton was thrilling during a 115-108 win over the Warriors on Saturday, scoring 25 points with five rebounds, four assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes.

What a wild week. Barton missed the last shot in back-to-back losses on Monday and Tuesday, but this time he was the hero today. The Nuggets were down 12 earlier in the game, but a massive 38-point fourth gave them a win in front of their biggest crowd in franchise history at Pepsi Center. Barton is seeing a ridiculous amount of minutes with 38.6 per game over his last five, so that is really helping him become a must-start fantasy asset.
Feb 3 - 11:57 PM

Will Barton had 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, a season-high five steals and a 3-pointer on 4-of-13 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Spurs.

Burton's been hot and got a boost by Wilson Chandler missing the last two games with an illness, averaging 12 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 3-pointers over his last five games, hitting just 35 percent of his shots. He'll take a hit once Chandler is back, but still should have fantasy value going forward.
Jan 31 - 12:25 AM

Will Barton played a game-high 44 minutes against the Celtics on Monday with 19 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, one steal and two triples.

Coach Mike Malone clearly isn't afraid to play Barton big minutes -- he's played 39+ minutes in three straight games and this was his eighth such game of the season. Barton stepped up in Wilson Chandler's absence and helped the Nuggets climb back from a 20-point deficit, hitting 8-of-18 shots and 1-of-1 from the line. Expect another heavy workload vs. the Spurs on Tuesday, with or without Chandler.
Jan 29 - 11:49 PM

Will Barton missed all seven of his shots from the field against the Blazers on Monday, but hit 7-of-8 from the line for seven points.

Barton got the start at small forward over Wilson Chandler, and while it may have been a matchup move, it's possible coach Malone gave him the start since he was playing against his former team (he did the same thing with Mason Plumlee). Despite the rough shooting line, Malone let Barton close this game and he was able to grab eight rebounds with two assists and a steal in 34 minutes. His splits as a starter are significantly higher, so his fantasy owners will be hoping that he makes another start vs. the Knicks on Thursday.
Jan 23 - 12:06 AM

Will Barton will start at small forward and Wilson Chandler will move to the bench against the Blazers on Monday.

Revenge game? Barton goes against his former team and Chandler has been whisper quiet, but moving Barton into the first unit makes a lot of sense here. This could stick with coach Mike Malone really unsatisfied with his first unit, so maybe Barton trends up a bit. Chandler loses value here in his first game off the bench.
Jan 22 - 8:39 PM

Will Barton moved to the bench against the Suns on Friday, making 3-of-10 from the field for eight points with three rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 23 minutes.

The Denver second unit couldn't hang in this loss, but Barton still played down the stretch as the Nuggets failed in their comeback attempt. Barton's playing time should be close to 30 minutes even when the Nuggets are healthy, so don't worry too much about him missing shots tonight.
Jan 19 - 11:45 PM

Will Barton will move to the bench on Friday against the Suns.

His minutes should still be there in the second unit and he'll likely be running the point when Jamal Murray is on the bench. Barton's value only takes a small hit and he should be owned in all leagues.
Jan 19 - 8:37 PM

Will Barton started at point guard against the Clippers on Wednesday, scoring 17 points with six rebounds, six assists, one steal, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes.

Coach Mike Malone gave him some heavy burn again after a 42-minute Tuesday night. Barton is likely looking at another game as the starting PG against the Suns on Friday, so his fantasy owners should be raising their expectations for that game.
Jan 18 - 1:51 AM

Will Barton's move into the starting lineup on Tuesday vs. Dallas paid dividends, as he racked up 22 points (9-of-15 FGs), six assists, five rebounds, one steal, one block, two triples and five turnovers in 42 minutes.

The Nuggets needed a spark after losing four out of their previous five games, so Barton delivered. Maybe it was a matchup move, but it would make sense for Denver to go back to this lineup on Wednesday vs. the Clippers, especially if DeAndre Jordan (ankle) is out. Barton should be owned everywhere.
Jan 17 - 12:00 AM

Will Barton will start against the Mavericks on Tuesday.

It sounds like this is a matchup move, but Barton is worth deploying in fantasy lineups regardless of where he begins the game. He'll join Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Wilson Chandler and Nikola Jokic in the first unit.
Jan 16 - 8:54 PM

Will Barton moved into the starting lineup with Gary Harris (personal) out on Friday vs. the Grizzlies, scoring 17 points with five rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three triples in 40 minutes.

That's more like it. Barton was cold coming into tonight's game with January averages of 11.6 points, 5.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 0.4 steals and 1.6 triples on 35.9% shooting, so he was in need of a confidence booster. Harris was tending to a "private family matter" and could be back on Saturday, so Barton will be back on the bench if that happens. He's worth owning even when his shot isn't falling, as his assists give him a decent floor.
Jan 13 - 1:38 AM

Will Barton will start in place of Gary Harris (personal) on Friday vs. the Grizzlies.

Harris is tending to a "private family matter," but coach Malone is hopeful to have him back on Saturday vs. the Spurs. Barton has been in a slump lately and is hitting 35.9% from the field over his last five games, so maybe the move to the first unit will get him going again.
Jan 12 - 8:36 PM

Will Barton was quiet in 19 minutes vs. the Warriors on Monday, shooting 1-of-6 from the field with two points, five assists and one block.

Barton had been slumping from the field at 37.5% in his previous four games, but the low playing time was an unusual twist. This is the second time all season Barton has played fewer than 20 minutes, and the first time since Nov. 24, so we'll keep an eye out for any explanations. It looks like Denver just stuck with bigger lineups that were effective down the stretch.
