Will Barton scored 12 points on 6-of-8 from the field against the Blazers on Saturday with seven boards, three assists, one steal and one block in 25 minutes.
He was known as Will the Thrill and the People's Champ in Portland as one of the fan favorites and he was quite comfortable tonight. Plus, he did the ol' inbounds pass of an opponent and was able to get an easy dunk. Barton is doing a fine job of adding multiple stats for his fantasy owners, but it's going to sting to have him on your roster because the Nuggets are off until Wednesday while tons of teams will play two games in that span. Date:

Will Barton double-doubled off the bench on Friday, scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with 10 rebounds and two assists in just 20 minutes.

Barton continues to hang onto late-round value in his low-minute role and it's enough to keep throwing kindling on the fire. If he can see some key guys ahead of him call it an early season, there is potential for him to post some really active lines. On the other hand, the Nuggets finish the fantasy playoffs with a pair of three-game weeks so that is working against him.
Mar 28 - 2:51 AM

Will Barton did not play in the fourth quarter against the 76ers on Wednesday, finishing with six points, five rebounds, one block and one turnover in 22 minutes.

He wasn't the worst player on the team tonight and coach Melvin Hunt likely just went with some other guys down the stretch. It didn't work with the 76ers winning the fourth quarter 27-9, so at least Barton has that going for him. He should get some extra minutes with the Nuggets having a back-to-back set this weekend.
Mar 26 - 2:32 AM

Will Barton is hoping to stick around with the Nuggets beyond this season.

"No doubt," Barton said. "I think we can build something here. We have a lot of good talent, a good organization, coaching staff is good. I can see us building and having a strong future here. We can grow together." The Nuggets can extend Barton a qualifying offer in the summer that estimates to be around $1.1 million, and if he accepts it would make him a restricted free agent. Barton has played well in Denver and is averaging 10.2 points, 4.6 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 3-pointer in just over 26 minutes per game over his last five, making him a viable asset in deeper leagues.

Mar 25 - 10:23 AM

Will Barton had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals off the bench vs. Orlando on Sunday.

Randy Foye was out with a stomach illness, setting up Barton for a solid game but instead he played only 25 minutes, much of which came during garbage time. He has had a few offensive explosions since the All-Star break and does just enough to hold steady late-round value in most leagues.
Mar 22 - 8:59 PM

Will Barton scored seven points on 2-of-5 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block in 17 minutes off the bench on Friday.

If Barton can rack up the money stats like this on bad nights he'll be set, and he's still pushing top-70 value this past week despite two low-minute outings in a row. He'll probably need some injuries ahead of him to feel good about his role, but consistency isn't an issue as he has been a top 90-100 player for 16 games now.
Mar 21 - 1:21 AM

Will Barton scored just three points with five rebounds, one steal and two turnovers on 1-of-6 from the field in 19 minutes against the Rockets on Thursday.

That's two really bad games in a row following his 1-of-5 from the field on Monday. Barton had a 25-point game on Sunday and his value is going to be a roller coaster going forward. The Nuggets are on the second half of a road-road back-to-back on Friday, so maybe the front offices rests guys again like they did on Monday. He's not a must-own player, but there is some reward to go with the risk, obviously.
Mar 19 - 11:35 PM

Will Barton scored five points on 1-of-5 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 23 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Grizzlies.

Barton's field goal attempts were down in a decidedly Memphis-style game, but he flashed his trademark versatility to save his night. He's averaging 13.4 points, 1.0 treys, 4.5 boards, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks while hitting 47.1 percent from the field and 78.8 percent from the line over his last 14 games. That's good for top 75-80 value in a decently-sized sample in standard leagues and that's before we get to the injury prone folks surrounding him in the rotation. Sleep on Barton at your own risk.
Mar 16 - 10:50 PM

Will Barton scored a career-high 25 points in 47 minutes during Sunday's epic double-OT victory in New Orleans, rounding out his line with three 3-pointers, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block.

He sank 10-of-16 shots overall and continues to impress since joining the Nuggets, vaulting himself into standard-league relevance with five-game averages of 14.8 points, 0.8 triples, 4.6 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks. The precautionary absence of Randy Foye and Wilson Chandler gave Barton a clear boost tonight, however, and he should resume a 25-minute role in Memphis on Monday.
Mar 15 - 9:19 PM

Will Barton was quiet in Friday's win over the Warriors, scoring six points on 2-of-4 shooting with four rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes off the bench.

It looked like Melvin Hunt wanted to go with his experienced guys to get a big win for the Nuggets. He had been producing at a top-90 level for two weeks heading into tonight, and just about every player ahead of him has some sort of serious injury risk. Drop him if you want, but don't be surprised if he's putting up numbers down the stretch.
Mar 14 - 1:30 AM

Will Barton came off the bench of 16 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal, two blocks and a 3-pointer on Wednesday, but hit just 5-of-14 shots.

He's no longer a must-own player coming off the bench and this blowout could have been a perfect storm for him. He put up some numbers with the Nuggets up by 30 for much of the night, but could have been even better. Even with his new bench role, Barton has hit double digits in three straight games, and might keep it going as the Nuggets sixth man.
Mar 12 - 12:37 AM

Will Barton scored 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 27 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Barton did not connect on three attempts from deep but he hit all five of his free throws in the extreme blowout win. He has tip-toed near the edge of being dropped this past week but his splits over the last two weeks show a top-80 value. On a team with injury risks everywhere trying to re-establish its uptempo identity with nothing to do but develop their players -- it's hard not to like Barton as an upside play.
Mar 10 - 1:04 AM

Will Barton brought the defensive stats again in Friday's loss, with a steal and block to go with six points, two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes off the bench.

Barton has saved his standard league value over the last week with a combined 2.3 steals and blocks over his last four games. He hasn't quite been able to solidify a stable role from a fantasy perspective, but he is certainly showing his upside on a team with a ton of injury risks and very little depth. He's the kind of player you want to take a chance on even though he can't maintain those defensive numbers.
Mar 7 - 2:19 AM

Will Barton scored 17 points with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two 3-pointers against the Wolves on Wednesday.

Seven of these points did come in garbage time and Barton was probably looking at around minutes in the low 20s had this game been close. Now that Nuggets are playing some of their veterans again, Barton isn't quite as attractive as an add in deep leagues.
Mar 5 - 12:28 AM

Will Barton struggled in 22 minutes off Denver's bench on Tuesday, scoring two points on 0-of-2 field goals and 2-of-5 free throws.

He added three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block, so it wasn't a total loss. This is still a far cry from the 18.8 points he was averaging over his previous four games, and owners may want to hold him a bit longer to see how he fares under interim coach Melvin Hunt.
