Pelicans sign G/F Darius Miller.
The terms of the contract are not disclosed, but it's likely a short-term deal. Miller actually played some point guard for the Pelicans while they were devastated by injuries in March, which may have helped him get a contract. He'll likely start the season out of the rotation. Jul 25 - 11:12 AM

Unrestricted free agent Darius Miller has reportedly agreed to re-sign with the Pelicans.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Miller was the No. 46 pick in the 2012 draft, and he averaged 4.4 points, and 1.2 rebounds through 45 games last season. He is not on the fantasy radar.
Jul 18 - 9:08 AM

In order to make salary cap room to acquire Omer Asik from the Rockets, the Pelicans will not be extending a qualifying offer to Darius Miller, according to sources.

Darius will become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday. He was the No. 46 pick for the Pelicans in the 2012 draft, and he has compiled career averages of 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and not much else. It's difficult to see Miller landing in a situation in which he'd become a reliable fantasy asset.
Jun 30 - 4:09 PM

Darius Miller scored 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds, five assists and four steals over 37 minutes in Monday's win over the Thunder.

Miller has been well-worth starting over the last week with averages of 12.0 points, 1.3 treys, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals while hitting 45 percent of his shots in his last four contests. There is no body of work for owners to hang their hats on, and Austin Rivers' early ejections helped create some touches, but Miller is worth fantasy consideration in all formats for Wednesday.
Apr 14 - 11:43 PM

Darius Miller scored a career-high 18 points in Friday's loss, hitting 7-of-13 shots (including two threes) with zero rebounds, three assists and one steal in 30 minutes.

Miller doesn't exactly have a fantasy friendly game but he could be poised to play in the ballpark of the 31 minutes he got tonight. He's worth a look as the NBA's silly season rages on.
Apr 12 - 12:57 AM

Darius Miller played 31 minutes vs. the Suns on Wednesday with 14 points, two boards, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

The Pelicans have to play Tyreke Evans at shooting guard and Al-Farouq Aminu at power forward, so the minutes at small forward are Miller's for the taking. Still, his two previous starts were not good ones, averaging 4.5 points, 1.0 boards and 1.5 triples. He's only a desperation play right now.
Apr 9 - 11:33 PM

Darius Miller moved into the starting lineup at small forward on Friday, playing 20 minutes for six points, one board, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers.

As a friendly reminder, just because a player is in his starting five, doesn't mean he's a top-five player on his team. It's not a coincidence we're mentioning this after discussing Miller's stat line tonight.
Apr 5 - 12:47 AM

Darius Miller is starting at small forward against the Jazz on Friday.

He is starting in place on Al-Farouq Aminu tonight. Miller hasn't really looked great this season and he's not much of a fantasy option this week. Aminu becomes an even less intriguing play.
Apr 4 - 8:25 PM

Darius Miller scored 16 points on 7-of-9 from the field against the Clippers on Wednesday for 16 points with one board, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer.

He played some point guard tonight and said after the game that it was the first time he's done so since kindergarten. While it's a cool story to see him succeed tonight, Miller will likely fade into the background again this weekend with the Pelicans likely to get some players back.
Mar 27 - 1:02 AM

Darius Miller scored a season-high 12 points vs. the Mavericks in a 110-107 loss on Saturday with one assist, one steal and four 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

He shot 4-of-5 from the field and this was his second consecutive game in which he's played 19 minutes. The Pelicans have been using Miller at small forward while sliding Al-Farouq Aminu over to the four, but his fantasy value is going to be very low even with the team in dire straits for offensive options.
Jan 12 - 1:18 AM

Darius Miller made his season debut on Wednesday night.

He is out of the rotation and saw a minute of action at the end of the first quarter. Miller has no fantasy value.

Darius Miller (foot fracture) hopes to remove his cast within 10-14 days.

Miller was expected to miss 8-12 weeks as of early September, so it's doubtful that we'll see him on the court any time soon. "I haven’t really talked about a set date [to return] or anything," he said. "They said they don’t want to rush it, and I don't blame them."

Pelicans forward Darius Miller will miss 8-12 weeks due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

It's unclear how he hurt himself, but Miller has already had the injury surgically repaired. This makes it unlikely that he'll be ready for opening night, which shifts a few extra minutes to guys like Al-Farouq Aminu, Tyreke Evans, Anthony Morrow and Lance Thomas.

The Pelicans want second-year forward Darius Miller to improve his "defensive attitude."

"I still want Darius to compete on the defensive end," said Summer League coach Bryan Gates. "I want him to be that guy that gets in there and grinds out those loose balls and automatically diving on the floor and automatically getting rebounds. The offense is easy to work on, but it's the defensive attitude that is his next step." His contract won't be guaranteed until July 27, but his play the past few weeks may have earned him a roster spot.

Darius Miller has a team option on his contract for next season, but he's expected to be re-signed by the Pelicans.

Monty Williams described Miller as a player with "some skills for sure," and the coach noted that the player development team spent a lot of time with Miller during his rookie season." Williams wants to see Miller further develop, which isn't a surprise. "Coach Monty does a great job of making us comfortable, talking to us, making sure we understand minor details and just taking everything slow," he said.
