The Magic signed Kevin Murphy to a training camp deal.

He played 17 games with the Jazz back in 2012-13 and played with the Magic during the summer league, averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. The Magic signed five other players to training camp deals including G Nick Johnson, so we don't like Murphy's chances of making the 15-man roster.

Murphy appeared in one preseason game for the Jazz, putting up four points, one rebound, and an assist through five minutes of action. He was never likely to make the team.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but it's like just a deal for training camp. Murphy was with the Jazz back in 2012-13 and was traded to the Warriors on July 10, 2013. He'll be fighting for a roster spot.

Former Jazz swingman Kevin Murphy has signed with SIG Strasbourg in France.

He spent much of last season in the D-League before being traded to the Warriors and promptly waived this summer. He'll be teammates with former NBA big man Alexis Ajinca on a team that finished second in France's ProA league last year.

Murphy is just a body that goes to the Warriors to make their salary dump work. He has a non-guaranteed $788,000 contract for 2013-14.

Kevin Murphy (skin infection) is available for the Jazz on Tuesday against Oklahoma City.

Murphy had been dealing with a skin infection but that's now cleared up and he'll take his usual spot at the end of Utah's bench.

Even if Murphy were available, it would be a surprise if he left the bench barring a blowout.

That does not sound pleasant, but the Jazz are listing him as day-to-day. His last blurb came on January 8 when he was recalled from the D-League, so this news shouldn't impact any fantasy leagues.

After six weeks in the minors, Murphy is back. He'll provide some depth with Mo Williams (thumb) out a couple months and Marvin Williams (knee) out at least three games.

"We don't want him to be a pig scorer," GM Dennis Lindsey said. Earl Watson back in action along with the Jazz being banged up may also have something to do with the demotion. Murphy needs minutes and wasn't getting them in Utah.
