Scott Machado is expected to return to the Santa Clara Warriors of the D-League on Tuesday.
Machado had been in the running to land a job with the Jazz during training camp, but was unable to solidify a spot on the final roster. Despite the fact that he led the NCAA in assists in 2011-12, Machado has some major holes in his game and is extremely unlikely to be much of a fantasy asset at any point this season. Jazz waive G Scott Machado.

He has some decent passing skills, but can't defend or do anything once he gets into the lane. Machado did lead the NCAA in dimes back in 2011-12, but his game doesn't translate very well to the pros.

With Trey Burke set to miss at least the next four weeks, Scott Machado has a good chance to see minutes for the Jazz.

According to Steve Luhm of the Salt Lake Tribune, Burke’s injury has opened the door for Machado to play a larger role for the Jazz. "Depending on what the Jazz do with their roster while Burke is out, Machado might not only make the team but he could inherit a significant role," Luhm wrote. The former D-leaguer isn't a household name to fantasy owners, but minutes are equivalent to gold in fantasy basketball and Machado led the NCAA in assists during the 2011-12 season so the talent is there.

The Jazz have invited PG Scott Machado to training camp.

Details of the contract haven't been reported, but in all likelihood it's an unguaranteed deal for camp. Machado went undrafted in 2012 and wound up playing 34 games in the D-League before being briefly called up by the Rockets. The Jazz are thin at PG, but Machado won't be a fantasy asset even if he makes the roster.

Former Rockets PG Scott Machado has four offers to play overseas.

Machado led the NCAA in assists during the 2011-12 season. He earned a contract with the Rockets after going undrafted, but played in the D-League for most of last season and doesn't seem to be drawing much interest in the NBA. He considered joining the Knicks for training camp, but that door closed when they signed Beno Udrih.

Warriors waive PG Scott Machado.

The Warriors signed Machado at the end of last season after he spent much of the year with the Rockets. Golden State, like many teams around the league, is trimming its roster with summer league play over and training camp a couple months away. The Warriors also waived Kevin Murphy and Dwayne Jones, while Tommy Beer is suggesting the Knicks might be interested in Machado, as they still need a third point guard.

The Warriors will sign guard Scott Machado for the rest of the season.

Machado had been under a 10-day contract after spending much of the season with the Rockets. He's got talent, but as long as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jarrett Jack are healthy, he won't see much playing time unless it's in the final regular-season game and the Warriors have nothing left to play for.

Warriors sign G Scott Machado to a 10-day contract and assign him to the D-League.

Machado was waived by the Rockets in January and had been playing in the D-League. He'll be an insurance policy at point guard.

Machado was the favorite to be waived after we learned the Rockets had planned to sign Patrick Beverley, a move that is still pending FIBA clearance.

The Rockets have recalled Scott Machado from the D-League.

It's just the latest move in what will likely be a season-long shuffle between the NBA and the D-League.

Rockets will assign G Scott Machado to the D-League on Friday.

Machado will likely be shuttled between the D-League and the NBA throughout the season.

Rockets recall Scott Machado from the D-League.

Machado is unlikely to play a role in Houston's rotation, but his move to the D-League was designed to be temporary.

The Rockets intend to send rookie PG Scott Machado to the D-League this season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

This is a mild surprise given Houston's decision to also waive Shaun Livingston on Monday. Toney Douglas and Daequan Cook will vie for backup PG minutes.
Mon, Oct 29, 2012 06:25:00 PM

Rockets rookie Scott Machado scored nine points and handed out 11 assists off the bench on Sunday.

Machado, who led the NCAA in assists last year, racked up his 11 assists in just 23 minutes. Neither Toney Douglas nor Shaun Livingston is a pure playmaker, and there's a chance Machado will hold down backup PG minutes behind Jeremy Lin.

Rockets sign PG Scott Machado.

Machado led the NCAA in assists with Iona last season, while shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, and he'll give Houston some affordable depth behind Jeremy Lin and Toney Douglas at PG. The undrafted rookie signed a three-year contract, with the third year unguaranteed.
