Justin Hamilton returned from a bout with migraines and had four points and four rebounds in just nine minutes on Wednesday.
Maybe he'll get healthy and hot in the upcoming week, but for now, he's just another big man in Minnesota. And that's a shame, because he was playing so well before the migraines set in. If you have an available spot and need a big man, taking a flier on Hamilton still makes sense. Mar 26 - 1:55 AM

Date:

Justin Hamilton (illness) will be available to play against the Lakers on Wednesday.

The Wolves may actually have eight players available tonight after running a seven-man rotation on Monday. Hamilton was playing very well before his head injury, so give him a look in all standard leagues.
Mar 25 - 6:48 PM

Justin Hamilton (migraine) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers.

With Kevin Garnett (knee) doubtful and Nikola Pekovic (ankles) out, the Timberwolves could sure use Hamilton back in the rotation. Expect another update on Hamilton following Wednesday morning's shootaround, and if he's unable to go, Gorgui Dieng and Adreian Payne will be forced into heavy minutes for the short-handed Wolves.
Mar 24 - 5:20 PM

Justin Hamilton (migraine) will not play again on Monday vs. the Jazz.

Hamilton has been out since March 16 with migraines, and right now there is no clear timetable for his return. It's too bad considering Hamilton has a clear path toward production given all the injuries his team is dealing with, but he's of no use to fantasy owners if he can't get into the lineup. With Kevin Garnett (knee) and Nikola Pekovic (ankle) both questionable, Gorgui Dieng should get a ton of burn once again.

Justin Hamilton (migraine) will not play on Sunday vs. the Hornets.

Hamilton actually wasn't on the injury report earlier in the day, so it's a shame that he won't be able to give it a go tonight. Hopefully he will be able to return to action on Monday vs. the Jazz, but his owners should have a backup plan ready. With Kevin Garnett (knee) and Nikola Pekovic (ankle) also out, Gorgui Dieng, Adreian Payne and Chase Budinger will be busy again tonight.

Justin Hamilton (illness) has been suffering from migraines since being kneed in the head against the Nets on Monday.

He is not going to play until the migraines go away, so he could be out through the weekend. Hamilton was playing terrific ball and he would have been worth owning in standard leagues, but now it's tough to tell when he'll be back. Expect Gorgui Dieng to cruise while Chase Budinger and Adreian Payne will help out as well.
Mar 19 - 7:54 PM

Justin Hamilton (illness) will not suit up for Thursday's game vs. the Knicks.

The Wolves are going to be extremely thin tonight with Kevin Garnett (knee) and Nikola Pekovic (ankle) also unavailable. Gorgui Dieng and Adreian Payne will get all the run they can handle, and Dieng is worth a long look as a plug-and-play option in daily leagues with a favorable matchup against the Knicks.
Mar 19 - 6:20 PM

Justin Hamilton (illness) is not on the injury report for Thursday's game vs. the Knicks.

Hamilton was a late scratch on Wednesday due to an illness, but it's a great sign that he's not being listed on the injury report for Thursday's game. We'll be considering him probable, and with Kevin Garnett (knee) and Nikola Pekovic's (ankle) status up in the air tonight, Hamilton could be thrust into heavy minutes. Stay tuned.
Mar 19 - 2:56 PM

Justin Hamilton (illness) will not play on Wednesday against the Raptors.

Oh no. The Wolves are extremely shorthanded and will have to give major minutes to their bench guys. Hamilton would have been a fantastic play tonight, but now his fantasy owners will have to go on without him. Adreian Payne and Gorgui Dieng will play as close to 48 minutes as they can.
Mar 18 - 6:59 PM

Justin Hamilton scored 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting with six rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 33 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Hamilton did not attempt any threes but he did make all three of his freebies, turning in another successful night for the early adopters out there. In five games for the Wolves he has averaged 12.0 points, 0.4 treys, 6.0 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks while hitting 52 percent from the field and all eight of his free throws in a five-game span. That's good for top 36-50 value (9/8 cat) over that span and with all sorts of injury-risks playing ahead of him it's probably time to pick him up. He did hit his head and leave with the game decided late but with no report about it we're keeping him off the injury report.
Mar 17 - 12:02 AM

Justin Hamilton is making an impression on Flip Saunders during his short stint with the Timberwolves.

"He knows how to play," Saunders said. "Sometimes you need to put some guys in there who won’t screw it up for somebody else." Saunders specifically praised Hamilton's ability to defend the pick-and-roll, and he's got a good chance to contribute on a team that's banged up in the front court. Over his last two games, Hamilton is averaging 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks on 10-of-19 shooting.
Mar 16 - 11:38 AM

Wolves C Justin Hamilton started Sunday's road game and racked up nine points, one 3-pointer, 10 rebounds, six assists and one steal in 37 minutes vs. the Spurs.

Nikola Pekovic (ankle) and Kevin Garnett (knee) were both sidelined tonight and both veterans are prime suspects for more DNPs in the season's final weeks. Hamilton is now averaging 13.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.7 blocks in his past three games. He also has some 3-point range, as he showed again tonight, and he's a decent speculative pickup for anyone in need of a big man.
Mar 15 - 10:05 PM

The Wolves will start Zach LaVine, Kevin Martin, Andrew Wiggins, Gorgui Dieng and Justin Hamilton on Sunday vs. the Spurs.

Hamilton scored a career-high 17 points with 10 boards, three assists, three blocks and three steals, in 34 minutes vs. the Thunder on Friday, and with the health of Nikola Pekovic (ankle) and Kevin Garnett (knee) deteriorating, Hamilton could potentially get a lot of run as the season progresses. We will let you know how he does after the game, but owners in deeper leagues should give him a long look.
Mar 15 - 6:52 PM

Justin Hamilton scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting with 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks in 34 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Thunder.

Hamilton hit all five freebies for good measure and after a 15-point, two-block, one-trey outing on Wednesday he has our attention. He has never been a defensive stat guy at any level except in the D-League, where he averaged 2.8 combined steals and blocks in 38 games for Sioux Falls. This season in Miami he averaged 0.5 in 12 mpg, so owners probably shouldn't bank on extraordinary production there. There should be a revolving door in the frontcourt including guys like Kevin Garnett and Nikola Pekovic, but in the end it could be Hamilton mopping up big minutes. He's a very speculative add at best right now, but one that might pay off down the stretch.
Mar 14 - 12:22 AM

Justin Hamilton scored a career-high 15 points against the Suns on Wednesday with three rebounds, two blocks and one 3-pointer.

He played just nine minutes on Monday and wasn't playing in any game before that since Feb. 11 when he was with the Heat. With Nikola Pekovic (ankle) likely to be sidelined and Kevin Garnett not playing in road games, we might see Hamilton get minutes. If you're in a very deep league, give him a look because he can block a little bit and does take treys -- had four attempts tonight.
