Kyle O'Quinn was a DNP-CD on Tuesday.
That strong preseason seems like a distant memory. Kristaps Porzingis is NBA-ready, so the need to play O'Quinn decreases in a big way. He's also being outplayed by a host of others. He's played just 12 minutes combined in his last three games, so fantasy owners should know what to do. Nov 17 - 10:51 PM

Kyle O'Quinn played three minutes with no points, one turnover and two fouls on Friday.

Kristaps Porzingis has just been too good right now. O'Quinn hasn't topped more than 12 minutes in any of his last four and can be cut loose in most leagues.
Nov 14 - 12:17 AM

Kyle O'Quinn played only 11 minutes off the Knicks' bench on Sunday, scoring one point with two rebounds and one assist.

KOQ has plenty of fantasy potential but it's going untapped thanks to low playing time. He's played only 20 of his 115 minutes next to Robin Lopez or Kristaps Porzingis -- unless Derek Fisher changes his rotations, or a Knicks' starter gets hurt, it's hard to envision O'Quinn blowing up. Just how much upside does he have? Despite playing only 18.1 minutes per game, O'Quinn has returned late-round value this year.
Nov 8 - 7:24 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored six points on 3-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Spurs.

KOQ has been great so far this year and he should be a consistent low-end play. Don't panic unless he goes through a prolonged stretch of games like this.
Nov 2 - 10:55 PM

Kyle O'Quinn double-doubled against the Hawks on Thursday with 10 points, 10 boards, three assists, one steal and one block in 22 minutes.

His three assists were beautiful tonight and he's worked himself in nicely to the triangle offense. O'Quinn didn't have the coaches behind him in Orlando and he's coming off a wonderful preseason, so he's on the radar in even standard leagues.
Oct 29 - 11:58 PM

Kyle O'Quinn logged 23 minutes vs. the Bucks, scoring eight points on 4-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks and one turnover.

KOQ typically shoots around 50 percent from the field, but otherwise this was exactly what fantasy owners are looking for -- rebounds and defensive stats. The Knicks' rotations were wacky tonight with the score lopsided early, so we'll continue to monitor O'Quinn's playing time over the next few games.
Oct 29 - 12:37 AM

Kyle O'Quinn said that he isn't worried about starting this season.

"Me just being in the mix is probably the best thing for me," O'Quinn said. "Starting, first big off the bench, second sub off the bench -- it really doesn't matter as long as I'm in the mix. It's a team game. Whatever the team needs, I'm willing to do that even if it's sacrificing my time for another player." Kristaps Porzingis is penciled in as the starting power forward, but O'Quinn has been excellent in the preseason with averages of 9.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per game and has earned a sizable role in the rotation. O'Quinn could be a steal in the later rounds.

Oct 24 - 10:44 AM

Kyle O'Quinn continued to be one of the best under-the-radar moves of the offseason, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks in 22 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.

He's been really, really good. O'Quinn is being used more on offense than in his Orlando days, he has a outstanding true shooting percentage of 68.2, and he's crushing it on the defensive glass in his 84 preseason minutes. He can play both forward spots and he looks like he's all set for 22-24 minutes. He could definitely put up top-150 value with that playing time and maybe even closer to 100.
Oct 16 - 11:53 PM

Kyle O'Quinn (rest) did not practice on Thursday.

O'Quinn's absence wasn't due to injury as the Knicks are simply giving him a recovery day. We'll expect to see him active for the Knicks back-to-back set on Friday and Saturday, but he's nothing more than a late-round flier in standard fantasy leagues until we see him earn consistent minutes.
Oct 15 - 12:44 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting with 10 rebounds and one block in 25 minutes off the bench in Friday's exhibition.

KOQ has looked good this preseason, which needs to be taken with appropriate levels of salt, and his role is still somewhat in flux. We don't think he'll be marginalized the way he was in Orlando last season, but we'd like to see some separation from the rest of the frontcourt before getting too excited. Regardless, he's on the radar as a potential flier pick.
Oct 9 - 9:26 PM

Kyle O'Quinn was impressive in 21 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, making 5-of-7 shots including one 3-pointer to finish with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one block.

KOQ has tantalizing per-minute potential -- last season he averaged 12.8 points, 0.5 threes, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks on a per-36-minute basis. He's currently behind Kristaps Porzingis but could earn enough minutes at both PF and C to emerge as a reliable fantasy contributor, even if he doesn't overtake the rookie. We'll continue to monitor his role throughout the preseason.
Oct 7 - 10:11 PM

Kyle O'Quinn and Kevin Seraphin are expected to have their roles determined in training camp.

Both big men have different things to prove, and each has to hold their own on defense in order to see the floor with any regularity. O'Quinn was the bigger investment this offseason, and he should have a leg up on Seraphin at the onset of the action. "The big key is about defending. That’s what it comes down to," Phil Jackson said.
Sep 28 - 9:03 AM

Alan Hahn of ESPN Radio said that the Knicks could really use Kyle O'Quinn's hustle and muscle and that he needs to prove that he can play 25 minutes per game.

Phil Jackson has indicated that O'Quinn will see time at the four and five this season, so it wouldn't be a shock to see him carve out a significant role. The Knicks may not want to start rookie Kristaps Porzingis right away, so O'Quinn has a legitimate shot to open the season as the starter. For now, O'Quinn is simply just a late-round flier after a disappointing 2014-15 campaign in Orlando.
Sep 13 - 9:46 AM

Kyle O'Quinn will play power forward and backup center for the Knicks.

Phil Jackson doesn't believe O'Quinn is a shot-blocker, but "he plays good position as well as good help defense." A previous blurb quoted Jackson as saying he would play backup power forward, but after review he simply said 'power forward,' which makes sense because the Knicks might not want to start Kristaps Porzingis right away.

Aug 24 - 12:53 PM

The Knicks have officially completed their sign-and-trade deal for Kyle O'Quinn.

O'Quinn will help backup Robin Lopez in New York, so he won't have much fantasy value in standard leagues. However, if he is able to earn around 20 minutes per game in New York, he could potentially emerge as a shot blocking specialist in deep leagues.
