Kyle O'Quinn made a rare start at PF on Saturday, but he fouled out with just four points (2-of-10 FGs) and six rebounds in 24 minutes.
Jacque Vaughn started O'Quinn to better match up with Kevin Garnett and the Celtics' frontcourt, but his lineup tweaks amounted to beans in a 32-point drubbing in Orlando. It seems Jason Terry's comments about the Magic being "terrible" didn't do much to fire them up. Apr 13 - 9:53 PM

Kyle O'Quinn had 10 points and eight boards off the Magic bench on Monday, despite playing just 12 minutes.

Starter Nikola Vucevic is back in action, meaning O'Quinn no longer holds much fantasy value. But he's certainly still worth keeping a close eye on after tonight's big game in such limited minutes.
Apr 2 - 12:27 AM

Kyle O'Quinn had two points, seven rebounds and one block off the bench vs. Atlanta, before fouling out in 23 minutes.

The Magic rookie had a nice run at center while Nikola Vucevic was out, but with Vuc back there is no reason to keep O'Quinn. Just file away his numbers as a starter for future reference -- 12.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.8 blocks in 29 minutes per game.
Mar 30 - 10:04 PM

Kyle O'Quinn cooled off against the Wizards on Friday with four points, four boards, four assists and two blocks in 22 minutes.

The two blocks help his case tonight, but those that picked him up following his 23-point outburst are likely disappointed. Andrew Nicholson returned and stole some of his thunder, but O'Quinn shouldn't be hastily cut unless it's to pick up a hot free agent.
Mar 29 - 10:53 PM

Kyle O'Quinn made another start at center on Wednesday and exploded for a career-high 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds, six assists and a steal on 11-of-14 shooting.

He didn't have a block tonight, but it's hard to be anything but excited about this line if you happened to roll the dice on him. He'll continue to get run as long as Nikola Vucevic is out, but keep in mind that this is probably as good as it's going to get all year, as he was going up against Bismack Biyombo and the Bobcats tonight. If you need a center, O'Quinn should be serviceable for as long as Vucevic sits with his concussion.
Mar 27 - 10:11 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and one block in 23 minutes on Monday against the Heat.

If you bought into O'Quinn due to Nikola Vucevic's concussion this is what you signed up for, and by virtue of that it is a win. It's starting to sound based on beat writer comments that Vucevic could miss some substantial time, but they have not come out and said that.
Mar 25 - 10:55 PM

Kyle O'Quinn started at center with Nikola Vucevic (concussion) out in Friday's loss to the Thunder, scoring 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.

Vucevic's concussion is said to be mild but we don't have any idea what stage he is in with regards to the league's protocols. If you need a big man give O'Quinn a look as a potential spot-play with short-term upside. The Magic don't play until Monday, so Vucevic will get the weekend to get healthy.
Mar 22 - 10:58 PM

Kyle O'Quinn exploded off the Magic bench for 12 points, 14 rebounds and four assists on 5-of-10 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the Knicks.

Those are career highs across the board, but keep in mind that starter Nikola Vucevic was out with an illness, and that O'Quinn had scored a total of 10 points in his previous 10 games. Maybe the hapless Magic will give him more run going forward, but as of now, there's no reason to pick him up.
Mar 21 - 12:08 AM

Kyle O'Quinn scored a career-high 11 points with three rebounds and one assist in seven minutes against the Celtics on Friday.

His previous career high was six points and he's been promoted to garbage-time duty with Glen Davis (foot) out for 8-12 weeks. He can be ignored in almost all formats.
Feb 1 - 10:36 PM

The Magic signed No. 49 overall pick PF/C Kyle O'Quinn to a three-year deal on Wednesday.

A signing like this is going to naturally draw parallels to the Dwight Howard fiasco, and the Magic are wise to take a chance on O'Quinn knowing that Howard is likely gone. O'Quinn enters the league with questions about his ability to succeed against NBA talent, but he sports some unique offensive moves and brings some versatility to the table. He'll start the season on the outside of the rotation looking in.

Norfolk State PF/C Kyle O'Quinn was selected No. 49 overall by the Magic in the 2012 NBA Draft.

O'Quinn turned some heads with his postseason play, sporting an array of unconventional offensive moves and some unique versatility. At 6'9/240 he has some size to bang down low, but he struggled against better competition in college and the big question is whether or not he can succeed against NBA-level talent.
