Kyle O'Quinn played just 18 minutes on Tuesday, but hit 6-of-9 shots for 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks in a win over the Hornets.
KOQ had a big game on Oct. 30 and has played well in two straight, but it's going to be hard for him to maintain fantasy value in just 17 minutes a night. He's averaging 8.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over his last five games, so it's possible that he could help in a two-center fantasy league. But the minutes aren't there and Enes Kanter (14 points, six rebounds, three steals) is playing at a high level, so expect some inconsistency if you roll the dice on KOQ. Nov 7 - 10:55 PM

Kyle O'Quinn blocked five shots against the Nuggets on Monday to go with a 15-point, 12-board double-double.

This was easily the best game of his season and he also shot 3-of-4 from the field and 9-of-10 from the line. KOQ is still ahead of Willy Hernangomez (three minutes) in the rotation and that won't change after this outburst, but it still makes way too much sense for the Knicks to turn to the young center at some point. Because of that, KOQ is more of a desperation add if you need a big.
Oct 30 - 10:49 PM

Kyle O'Quinn remains ahead of Willy Hernangomez in the rotation according to coach Jeff Hornacek.

Maybe the Knicks are showcasing KOQ for a trade, but this is an odd move for a rebuilding franchise. KOQ is averaging 7.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists, but it's likely just a matter of time before Hernangomez makes a push for his minutes.
Oct 27 - 5:58 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored six points with 10 rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 22 minutes against the Thunder on Thursday.

He earned the No. 2 spot ahead of Willy Hernangomez tonight. Coach Jeff Hornacek said KOQ earned his minutes based on his preseason play, which isn't too surprising after he was ahead of Willy in the dress rehearsal. O'Quinn probably will have a tough time keeping his minutes all year, but he has short-term value in competitive leagues.
Oct 19 - 11:43 PM

Kyle O'Quinn started at center in Tuesday's preseason opener vs. the Nets and finished with four points, five rebounds and two blocks in 11 minutes.

The Knicks have a three-headed monster at center in O'Quinn, Enes Kanter and Willy Hernangomez and things are only going to get more complicated once Joakim Noah's 12-game suspension is over. This position battle should continue for the next two weeks and Hernangomez and Kanter will likely get a look in the first unit during the preseason. For now, Hernangomez is still the best late-round option with Kanter right behind him. The Knicks need to make a trade to clear up this logjam.
Oct 3 - 10:38 PM

Kyle O'Quinn came off the bench and hit 4-of-6 shots for eight points, 12 rebounds, five assists and five blocks in 27 minutes of Tuesday's 100-91 win over the Bulls.

KOQ had 11 points, nine boards and two blocks in his previous game, so he appears to be coming on a bit. But over his last five, he's averaging just 6.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in 19 minutes. With Willy Hernangomez still starting, KOQ is a risky play, but it's entirely possible the Knicks turn him loose the rest of the way. If you need a center, he might be worth a flier after this one.
Apr 5 - 12:08 AM

Kyle O'Quinn made all seven of his free throws on Sunday, scoring 11 points with nine rebounds and a pair of blocks in 17 minutes off the bench.

KOQ went just 2-of-7 from the field and poor shooting was endemic for the Knicks today, as they finished just 38.8 percent as a team. One of the only players to score efficiently was starting center Willy Hernangomez, who pitched in 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, three boards, three assists and two steals in 19 minutes. As long as Hernangomez is healthy, there's no reason to own O'Quinn.
Apr 2 - 3:54 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored six points with six rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 13 minutes against the Spurs on Saturday.

He's basically just Willy Hernagomez's backup right now and the Knicks only rolled with a KOQ-Willy combo for just four minutes combined in the last two games. He can still have some value with 20 minutes, so give him a look if you're in need of an across-the-board big man with low scoring. Although, his value will drop if Carmelo Anthony (knee) returns.
Mar 25 - 11:12 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored four points with seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 22 minutes against the Blazers on Thursday.

The Knicks not having most of their depth up front allowed O'Quinn to get some decent run off the bench. O'Quinn only played 12 minutes combined in his previous two games, so he would need Lance Thomas (hip) and Carmelo Anthony (knee) to miss additional games. KOQ is only worth a speculative look until we know more about how much time Melo is going to miss.
Mar 24 - 12:28 AM

Kyle O'Quinn filled it up off the bench against the Nets on Thursday, scoring a season-high 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block on Thursday.

Leave it to Kyle Yoyo'Quinn to have a DNP-CD on Tuesday and bust out the next game. Kristaps Porzingis (thigh) not playing in this game explains most of it and Willy Hernangomez also had some foul trouble. With KP not expected to miss many games, KOQ is only a speculative add.
Mar 16 - 10:47 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored two points with eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and no turnovers in 19 minutes against the Pistons on Saturday.

Since Kristaps Porzingis returned, O'Quinn's playing time and statistical output has fallen off. In those six, he averaged just 5.0 points, 5.8 boards, 2.3 assists, 0.7 blocks and 0.2 steals in 14.9 minutes. In addition, the emergence of Willy Hernangomez has moved KOQ down a peg when the Knicks are healthy. We'll see him have a good game or two at some point, though.
Mar 11 - 8:00 PM

Kyle O'Quinn scored seven points with four rebounds and one block in 17 minutes against the 76ers on Friday.

He actually wasn't chalk in DFS, but he flopped again. The Knicks hinted that they will be playing Kristaps Porzingis more at the five, which spells trouble for O'Quinn once Willy Hernangomez is back. He will likely trend down soon.
Mar 3 - 10:44 PM

Kyle O'Quinn unexpectedly came off the bench vs. Orlando on Wednesday, posting four points, seven rebounds, four assists and one block in 19 minutes.

Willy Hernangomez was out with an ankle injury, and Joakim Noah (knee) is out of the picture entirely, but it was Kristaps Porzingis who got the starting nod tonight. All O'Quinn needs is reliable playing time to be a fantasy factor, and even with Hernangomez healthy he should get minutes in the low to mid-20s most nights. He's a viable option if you need a cheap big man.
Mar 1 - 10:07 PM

Kyle O'Quinn will not start vs. the Magic on Wednesday, as was previously reported.

Kristaps Porzingis will start at center tonight, in the absence of Willy Hernangomez (ankle), and the last-minute switch is a severe disappointment for anyone who rolled out KOQ tonight. He should still get solid playing time as the primary backup big man, however, so it shouldn't be a total wash.

Kyle O'Quinn will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Magic, with Willy Hernangomez (ankle) unavailable.

With Marshall Plumlee as the only other healthy center on the roster for Wednesday's game, there's a chance O'Quinn could flirt with minutes in the 30s tonight, so he's certainly someone to consider as a streamer or low-budget DFS play. Kristaps Porzingis could also spend some time at the five, so he too figures to see heavy minutes with Joakim Noah (knee) and Hernangomez out.
