Kyle O'Quinn followed up Friday's big game with four points and nine rebounds on Sunday, adding four blocked shots in just 14 minutes of action.
KOQ notched 20 points, 13 boards, two assists and two steals as a fill-in starter on Friday, but he shifted to a bench role with Joakim Noah returning tonight. You can't fault his per-minute production, as usual, but it's hard to trust him while both Noah and Willy Hernangomez are healthy. Dec 4 - 10:30 PM

Date:

Kyle O'Quinn will return to the bench for Sunday's game against the Kings.

As a reserve this season, O'Quinn owns meager averages of 4.4 points, 3.2 boards and 1.1 blocks per game, so he can't be considered a viable target in most leagues.
Dec 4 - 6:58 PM

Kyle O'Quinn came out of nowhere against the Wolves on Friday with 20 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 31 minutes.

Wow. That's season highs in points, boards and minutes for KOQ in his start today. He was outstanding on the defensive end and coach Jeff Hornacek stuck with him after not playing him for more than 18 minutes in any of his previous four games. Joakim Noah (ankle) could be back for Sunday, so O'Quinn would only be worth a look in deeper leagues. This looks like one of the flukiest games of the season.
Dec 3 - 12:35 AM

Kyle O'Quinn will get another start against the Wolves on Friday.

The Knicks were destroyed in the first quarter on Wednesday with Karl-Anthony Towns going for 22 in that frame, so O'Quinn may be on a short leash. Marshall Plumlee played 12 minutes in the second half while Mindaugus Kuzminskas saw 11 minutes in that time. Kuzminskas may be the most appealing guy in this group.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: O'Quinn isn't a recommended DFS play this evening, but Noah's absence does improve the outlook for a few of the Timberwolves. Karl Anthony-Towns destroyed this defense on Wednesday, and draws an equally attractive match-up here. The Knicks will likely make it more of a point to try to take him away, so Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and Gorgui Dieng are all strong GPP plays. Dieng should benefit if the Knicks throw extra front-court attention at Towns.
Dec 2 - 6:06 PM

Kyle O'Quinn started for Joakim Noah (ankle) on Wednesday, finishing with two points, eight rebounds, two assists and one turnover in 18 minutes against the Wolves.

Even though his beard makes him look like he's 36, O'Quinn is just 26 years old. When Noah is out, the Knicks don't really play KOQ too often, averaging just 20.5 minutes in his previous two starts. He's not a great pickup.
Dec 1 - 12:09 AM

Kyle O'Quinn will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves with Joakim Noah (ankle) unavailable.

In two starts this season, O'Quinn owns forgettable averages of 6.0 points, 6.5 boards and just 0.5 blocks per contest through 20.5 minutes, so while he'll see some increased opportunity with the first unit, he's still not a great target in most settings.
Nov 30 - 6:39 PM

Kyle O'Quinn will return to the bench for Friday's game vs. the Hornets.

It's the expected move with Joakim Noah (illness) back in the starting lineup. KOQ is only relevant in very deep leagues.
Nov 25 - 6:51 PM

Kyle O'Quinn started again on Tuesday vs. the Blazers, scoring four points on 2-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and two turnovers in 24 minutes.

Joakim Noah (illness) missed his second game in a row, but he now has three days to get ready for Friday's game vs. the Hornets. KOQ didn't take advantage of his opportunity and will likely head back to the bench Friday.
Nov 22 - 10:33 PM

Coach Jeff Hornacek said he would again start Kyle O’Quinn at center if Joakim Noah (illness) is inactive for Tuesday's game vs. Portland.

Noah, who missed Sunday's game with an illness, sat out of Monday's practice and is doubtful for Tuesday. However, despite starting and playing well on Sunday (eight points on 4-of-5 shooting, to go with eight boards, one block and one turnover), O'Quinn only played a total of 17 minutes. Hornacek ended up playing rookie Willy Hernangomez 29 minutes and also played Kristaps Porzingis at center at times. As a result, O'Quinn's fantasy value is capped, even as starter.
Nov 22 - 9:20 AM

Kyle O'Quinn started and scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting Sunday, to go with eight boards, one block and one turnover in just 17 minutes of action.

O'Quinn was inserted into the starting five with Joakim Noah (illness) unavailable, but it was Willy Hernangomez who picked up most of the center minutes, putting up seven points, eight boards, one assist and three turnovers in 30 minutes. If Noah is again sidelined Tuesday against Portland, it'll be more of the same, but there's no clear winner here in terms of fantasy hoops.
Nov 20 - 4:25 PM

Kyle O'Quinn will start in place of Joakim Noah (illness) on Sunday vs. the Hawks.

KOQ is only averaging 4.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 10.2 minutes per game, but it sounds like he will get the first shot at guarding Dwight Howard. Noah is day-to-day, so KOQ is just a dart throw in DFS.
Nov 20 - 11:20 AM

Kyle O'Quinn stepped up on Wednesday with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, eight rebounds (six offensive), two assists and one block in 17 minutes off the bench.

O'Quinn has struggled to separate himself from Marshall Plumlee and rookie Willy Hernangomez, but this performance could give him an edge as the Knicks' backup center. Joakim Noah is no stranger to DNPs, so if O'Quinn wins the job he'll at least be on the fantasy radar.
Oct 19 - 10:26 PM

Kyle O'Quinn started vs. the Rockets on Tuesday and wound up with four points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in 18 minutes.

O'Quinn started alongside Kristaps Porzingis in the frontcourt, but he'll fill a reserve role once Joakim Noah (hamstring) is ready to go. KOQ has always been a per-minute producer for fantasy, which makes him worth watching throughout the season -- he's one Noah injury away from prominence.
Oct 4 - 10:38 PM

Kyle O'Quinn said that he's working on his body, his knowledge of the game and his jumper prior to the season beginning.

Of those three, O'Quinn's body is arguably the most important given the on-again, off-again conditioning issues he's had during his NBA career. Although KOQ is still penciled in as Joakim Noah's backup, he'll have more competition for minutes than he did last year when his playing time fell off a cliff.
Sep 3 - 4:19 PM

Phil Jackson said that Kyle O'Quinn may play some backup center to fill the void behind Joakim Noah.

There won't be many minutes available for KOQ, but this doesn't bode well for the outlook of rookie Willy Hernangomez. Most fantasy league owners can safely ignore O'Quinn for now.
