Kyle O'Quinn picked up some extra run in garbage time against the Bucks on Thursday with seven points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.
While O'Quinn has lost a lot of playing time in the past month, there's some new hope. Coach Jacque Vaughn is believed to be on the hot seat, so maybe the potential replacement wants to play KOQ. The Magic's biggest issue has been rim protection, so getting O'Quinn out there more often makes sense. There is upside and fantasy owners can give him a look as a speculative add in deeper leagues. Kyle O'Quinn played just 12 minutes on Monday, scoring eight points on 3-of-4 shooting with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

O'Quinn's per-minute numbers have stopped being the issue but now the minutes are a problem. He needs to have 18-22 minutes to have consistent fantasy value.
Jan 12 - 11:24 PM

Kyle O'Quinn went hitless on four field goal attempts and did not score on Friday, but he did post seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in 28 minutes.

O'Quinn's value doesn't come from his scoring but rather his across the board contributions. If you believe the recent slump is less important than the 50 or so games of mid-to-late round value dating back to February, you may want to give him a look.
Jan 10 - 3:21 AM

Kyle O'Quinn made 1-of-6 from the field for three points and two rebounds against the Hornets on Saturday.

Channing Frye suffered an elbow injury and he could miss time. O'Quinn's minutes have been in the cellar for the past four games, but they could be on their way up. If you have held him, there's a good chance he heats up. If he's on the wire, there's not much incentive to add him until there is more information on Frye's status.
Jan 3 - 9:47 PM

Kyle O'Quinn's struggles continued in the Magic's 100-98 loss to the Nets on Friday, as he managed just four points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes.

O'Quinn typically isn't a feast or famine player, but since his 18-point, 13-rebound explosion last week he's been a ghost on the stat sheet. Drop him if you'd like, but don't be surprised if he's producing again at some point.
Jan 2 - 10:28 PM

Kyle O'Quinn's streak of quiet games extended to four on Tuesday, as he posted only six points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in 20 minutes as Orlando's starting PF.

The starting job hasn't been kind to O'Quinn, who will begin re-appearing on waiver wires after averaging 3.6 points over the past four games. He has enough upside to monitor closely all season, but we can't blame owners for dumping him for a free agent who is actually producing.

Kyle O'Quinn played just 17 minutes against the Heat on Monday with five points, two boards, one assist and one block.

That's three games with 17 or less minutes for O'Quinn. That's pretty much where he's been off the bench while Nikola Vucevic was healthy, so coach Jacque Vaughn has basically just shuffled who he gets his minutes next to. As discouraging as the low minutes are, O'Quinn is still capable of putting up late-round value with minutes in the low 20s. All that said, he's not a must-own player anymore.

Kyle O'Quinn went from 16 percent body fat to nine percent body fat with an improved diet during the offseason.

"It’s kind of hard to eat a fried chicken sandwich with the cheese hanging off when these guys are ordering pasta with no sauce," O’Quinn said. O'Quinn cut out sugar, stopped eating cheese and increased his water intake. He's also changed his postgame meal from something related to fast food to cleaner options like fish and pasta. "I used to eat terribly," he said. Portion control is still something O'Quinn is learning about, and a chef at the Magic facility is helping him with meal planning. It's a pretty easy change to make, and hopefully O'Quinn inspires others to follow suit, as well.

Kyle O'Quinn had another awful game against the Hornets on Saturday with three points, one rebound and three assists in 14 minutes.

That's two bad games in a row after a 16-minute, scoreless game on Friday. O'Quinn's per-minute fantasy value is alluring enough to be patient for a couple more games. It's still worth mentioning he was used almost exclusively as a backup center up until recently, so coach Jacque Vaughn might turn on him. In other words, unless it's to add a hot free agent, it might be better to see what happens against the Heat on Monday.

Kyle O'Quinn had a disappointing game against the Cavs on Friday with zero points, zero rebounds, one assist and one block in 16 minutes.

He had four fouls in what was his arguably his worst game of the season. O'Quinn was on a roll and came off an 18-13 full line on Tuesday, so his fantasy owners have to cut him some slack here. He gets a better matchup on Saturday against the Hornets.

Kyle O'Quinn blew up for 18 points, two 3-pointers, 13 rebounds, two steals and one block in another start on Tuesday, playing 34 minutes without a single turnover.

Channing Frye had eight points and four rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. This could easily be a permanent change at PF, which makes O'Quinn a terrific player to grab wherever he's available. He's now averaging 30.0 minutes over his past two games, well above his season average of 19.7 minutes, so all signs are pointing in the right direction.

Kyle O'Quinn will remain in the Magic's starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Celtics.

The 24-year-old is averaging 11.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.6 blocks, and 0.4 three-pointers as a starter this season, so this is great news for fantasy owners. As long as O'Quinn continues to start ahead of Channing Frye, he's worth a flier in standard fantasy leagues due to his potential to fill up the stat sheet.

Kyle O'Quinn had eight points, one 3-pointer, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and four blocks as Orlando's starting PF on Sunday, despite playing only 26 minutes.

O'Quinn's intriguing versatility has kept him on the fantasy radar all season, and he may finally realize his potential as a starter ahead of Channing Frye. It remains to be seen if this was a permanent change or an experimental shift from coach Jacque Vaughn, but O'Quinn is worth a pickup while we find out.

Kyle O'Quinn will start Sunday vs. the 76ers, sending Channing Frye to the bench.

O'Quinn will draw a very favorable matchup today against the 76ers, and he'll make for a quality plug-and-play option in daily leagues. Frye has been struggling lately, and a move to the bench isn't going to do him any favors, we'll let you know how they fare after the game.
Sun, Dec 21, 2014 05:13:00 PM

Kyle O'Quinn posted a versatile line off the bench on Friday, scoring seven points on 2-of-4 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, one assist and three steals in 23 minutes.

People can easily get blinded by the low minutes but he improved his season-long per-game value from top 100-115 (9/8 cat) to top 90-105 (9/8 cat) after tonight. That he's returning this value in just 19.3 mpg is a reminder of his mid-round upside if he can step into a 24-plus minute role.
