An MRI on Wednesday showed no structural damage on Kent Bazemore's right knee.
He is going to miss at least the next two games and the Hawks said they will update his status "as appropriate." While he's out, the Hawks will count more on Tim Hardaway Jr. and Thabo Sefolosha. Bazemore did have some right knee stiffness back in April, but it was minor and he didn't miss game action. His fantasy owners should stash him despite a disappointing season. Dec 7 - 2:45 PM

Date:

Kent Bazemore (right knee soreness) has been ruled out for Atlanta's next two games, and Tim Hardaway Jr. will be drawing the start in his place.

This puts Bazemore on the sidelines for both Wednesday's game against the Heat, as well as Friday's game against the Bucks, but he should be able to return to the court for next Tuesday's game against the Magic. Bazemore has been struggling mightily over the past few weeks, so hopefully the time off to rest his knee will help him get things back on track. Hardaway Jr. is really inconsistent; so he's not really worth a standard league add.
Dec 7 - 11:17 AM

Kent Bazemore did not practice on Tuesday, but head coach Mike Budenholzer said that Bazemore is not dealing with an injury.

It sounds like it's just a rest day, but Bazemore has been struggling mightily over the past two weeks with forgettable averages of 8.7 points, 1.1 triples, 1.4 steals and 1.9 turnovers per contest while hitting just 28.3 percent of his shot attempts. He should eventually turn things around, but owners may want to bench him until that happens.
Dec 6 - 2:24 PM

Kent Bazemore played just 18 minutes and missed all seven of his shots, finishing with zero points, four rebounds and three assists in Monday's loss to the Thunder.

Bazemore just can't get it going consistently for the Hawks and it's hurting his team. After scoring 22 on Wednesday, he's scored 7, 8 and 0 points in each of his last three. He'll get hot again soon enough, but he's been highly frustrating to own this season. And the Hawks, losers of 10 of their last 11 games, are feeling the pain as much as anyone.
Dec 5 - 11:01 PM

Kent Bazemore hit just 3-of-12 shots for eight points, two rebounds and two assists in Saturday's brutal 128-84 loss to the Hawks.

You know the deal with Baze this season. You either get the good version or the bad version from night to night, as he's been wildly inconsistent. And unfortunately, the Hawks got Bad Baze tonight. Speaking of the Hawks, they are in a free fall, losing eight of their last nine games and following up their three-game losing streak with a six-game losing streak. The Hawks looked like one of the Top 3 teams in East after an 11-2 start, but now look like one of the early-season's most overrated teams.
Dec 3 - 11:01 PM

Kent Bazemore was benched at halftime during Friday's blowout loss to the Pistons, finishing with seven points on 3-of-11 shooting with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one triple in 18 minutes.

The Hawks benched their entire starting unit at halftime and coach Mike Budenholzer said after the game that he's considering lineup changes, but we still think Kyle Korver would head to the bench before Baze. He's been all over the place lately with two games with 21+ points and three games with single-digit points in his last five, but he's still a hold in standard leagues.
Dec 3 - 12:26 AM

Kent Bazemore had 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in a losing effort vs. the Suns on Wednesday.

Bazemore hit 8-of-16 field goals and made both of his free throws, but it wasn't enough to avoid a fourth consecutive loss. "My rookie year, I got my car popcorned ... the car was clean but the smell was still there," Bazemore said, referring to a hazing ritual. "That's kind of what this feels like. We're playing the right way but we cant get it to go our way." Atlanta will look to recover at home vs. the Pistons on Friday.
Dec 1 - 1:49 AM

Kent Bazemore scored just eight points on 4-of-15 shooting on Monday vs. the Warriors.

No revenge game for Mr. Bazemore. He missed all six of his attempts from deep and added seven rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals in 28 minutes. He's been a frustrating player to own in fantasy because of his inconsistency, but he was coming of a 21-point game against the Lakers with four assists, one rebound, one steal and zero turnovers. His owners just need to take the good with the bad, but it's not a bad idea to bench him until he heats up.
Nov 29 - 1:38 AM

Kent Bazemore sank 8-of-16 shots including a 5-of-8 mark from deep to finish Sunday's game with a team-high 21 points in 27 minutes.

The Hawks have struggled from the perimeter this season with 8.6 makes per game on 33.7 percent shooting, so they really need Bazemore to keep firing away from distance. He rounded out tonight's line with four assists, one rebound, one steal and zero turnovers.
Nov 28 - 12:43 AM

Kent Bazemore missed all six of his shots to finish with just one point and a measly steal in 18 minutes of Tuesday's blowout home loss to the Pelicans.

If you took a flier on Bazemore in DFS, the move obviously backfired. And if you had him in your season-long lineup, you're probably not feeling too thankful as the big holiday approaches. While Baze hasn't exactly been killing it, he hasn't been too bad, either. He'd scored in double figures in five straight and seven of his last eight games, and the last time he was "0-for," he bounced back with back-to-back 20-point games. The Hawks were down by 20 after the first quarter, so maybe the good news is that Bazemore was able to get some rest tonight before Wednesday's meeting with the Pacers.
Nov 22 - 10:11 PM

Kent Bazemore hit 4-of-11 shots on Sunday, on his way to 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, one steal and one turnover through 30 minutes of action.

Bazemore isn't the most efficient guy (41.6 percent shooting on the season), but his ability to bring a little bit of everything to the box score is what drives his value. He's been a top-70 guy on the year with averages of 12.1 points, 3.2 boards, 3.2 dimes, 1.7 steals, 1.2 triples and 0.8 blocks per contest.
Nov 20 - 3:28 PM

Kent Bazemore scored 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting vs. the Hornets on Friday.

Thabo Sefolosha has missed two straight games with a left knee sprain and could miss more time, so Bazemore's minutes have never been safer. He filled up the stat sheet on Friday with two rebounds, two assists, two blocks, three steals and one triple, and he's now played 30 or minutes in three straight games. He had a brutal start to the season, but he has bounced back and is currently returning top-70 value in standard leagues.
Nov 18 - 10:13 PM

Kent Bazemore scored 17 points during a 117-96 win over the 76ers on Saturday, adding five rebounds, one assist, two blocks, three steals and one 3-pointer.

The Baze Gaze is known for looking up and then looking down for a long time. Well, we've seen Baze look down this year, but he's looking up yet again. Since the goose egg back on Nov. 4, Bazemore averaged 16.3 points, 4.0 boards, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.0 treys. Even after that rough stretch, he's still at sixth-round value on the season.
Nov 12 - 10:49 PM

Kent Bazemore faded on Wednesday with just three points in 22 minutes vs. the Bulls, going 1-of-4 from the field with seven assists, one steal and one block.

The dimes are nice but it's a letdown for Bazemore, who was coming off two terrific performance of 25 and 20 points. Kyle Korver (personal) returned tonight, Thabo Sefolosha caught fire in the first half, and Tim Hardaway Jr. warmed up as the game progressed, so this just wasn't Bazemore's night.
Nov 9 - 10:33 PM

Kent Bazemore hit 8-of-13 shots and four 3-pointers for a season-high 25 points, six rebounds and three assists in Tuesday's tough road win over the Cavaliers.

Baze broke out on Saturday for 20 points and played even better tonight after a slow start to the season. He's rolling now and gaining confidence, so make sure he wasn't dumped in your league when things weren't going so well. The Hawks needed to play a nearly perfect game tonight to beat the undefeated Cavs, and Bazemore, Dennis Schroder, Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap made it happen.
