Kent Bazemore's quiet preseason continued on Tuesday vs. New Orleans, as he scored seven points with three rebounds, two assists, one block and one triple in 22 minutes.
The money stats were nice, but Bazemore has only scored in double digits one time through four preseason games. He will have a similar role this season after averaging 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 3-pointers in 2015-16, but he tends to fall in drafts and should be available towards the end of the middle rounds. Dennis Schroder, Kyle Korver, Kent Bazemore, Mike Muscala and Dwight Howard will start vs. the Cavaliers on Monday.

Apart from Paul Millsap (knee) replacing Muscala once he's healthy, this will be the starting lineup on opening night for the Hawks. Jarrett Jack (knee), Tiago Splitter (hamstring) and Millsap will not play on Monday, while Mike Scott (knee) will be active.

Kent Bazemore said he's working on his "body a ton."

"For me, getting stronger is super important. I’m just as athletic as any player in the league, but strength is important over an 82-game season," he said. Bazemore also added that he's trying to expand his "knowledge of the game" through watching film and being a better student of the game. Finally, Bazemore said that he made a "minor change" to his jumper at the beginning of the summer as well as preparing to do "more stuff off the dribble." Bazemore is expected to have a larger role in Atlanta after re-signing on a big money deal, so he's saying all things you want to hear if you're considering investing a mid-round pick in him on draft day.
Sep 3 - 4:14 PM

Kent Bazemore said that he expects to have the ball in his hands more often next season, operating as a playmaker for the Hawks.

"I’m working on setting up players, setting up plays, making sure I’m in the right position on defense and those kind of small details." Bazemore also mentioned that getting stronger will be a priority for him this summer, and he also made a small tweak to his jumper so he expects to shoot at a higher percentage next season. Bazemore is a do-it-all kind of player, and he'll be worthy of a mid-round selection on draft day.
Jul 26 - 6:45 PM

The Hawks have officially signed Kent Bazemore to a four-year deal worth $70 million.

"We're excited to re-sign Bazemore and welcome him back to the Hawks," said head coach Mike Budenholzer during Bazemore's presser. "His passion for the game is contagious and through his tireless work ethic, he has developed into a dynamic two-way player. We look forward to his continued development with us." Bazemore will likely be a bit more involved offensively with Kyle Korver another year older and Jeff Teague now in Indiana, so he makes sense as a mid-round pick.
Jul 7 - 3:43 PM

The Hawks have reached an agreement with Kent Bazemore for a deal worth $70 million over four years.

This news also basically means Al Horford has no chance of a return. The Hawks used their two draft picks on potential Bazemore replacements, but they'll have him ready to take on a bigger role in 2016-17 with Jeff Teague in Indiana. Bazemore ran the offense a lot more when he was younger while he was in Summer League and with the Lakers, so that might be a new wrinkle to his game. His fantasy ceiling should increase next season. Additionally, he's having a very happy 27th birthday on Friday.
Jul 1 - 10:48 PM

Unrestricted free agent Kent Bazemore ended his meeting with the Rockets and no deal was reached, according to Chris Haynes of

Zach Lowe of ESPN reported Bazemore's annual salary could be in the $19 million range, which seems wild for a guy with a career scoring average of 6.4 points. He is coming off a career season and teams favoring an up-tempo style might have his attention. He should have a fun 27th birthday on July 1.
Jul 1 - 2:16 AM

Unrestricted free agent Kent Bazemore planned to hold off meetings until July 5, but is meeting with the Rockets, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

James Harden is attending the meeting with Bazemore. The Rockets could have some money to spend with Dwight Howard not coming back, but adding a wing isn't the highest priority. Although, coach Mike D'Antoni's system would be great for Bazemore. He is likely going to get a salary in the teens per year.
Jul 1 - 12:08 AM

Marc Stein of ESPN reports that Kent Bazemore may not meet with teams until after July 4.

This is interesting news seeing as free agency begins on July 1 and teams will want to lock in players so they can move onto other free agents, but Bazemore will have plenty of suitors and shouldn't miss out on any money if he takes this approach. The Nets, Grizzlies, Bucks, Knicks, and others are expected to pursue Bazemore, so it's likely we'll see him with an increased fantasy value on a new team next season.
Jun 30 - 11:38 AM

The Bucks, Grizzlies and Nets are all expected to pursue Kent Bazemore in free agency, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

The Knicks have also been mentioned as potential suitors, and it's easy to grasp why Bazemore is a hot commodity. He's a versatile defender who shot 35.7 percent from deep last season, while improving to 81.5 percent at the FT line, and he's missed just 14 games in the past two seasons. With the salary cap spiking to approximately $94 million this summer, Bazemore could receive some eye-popping contract offers.
Jun 29 - 11:17 PM

The Knicks will reportedly pursue unrestricted free agent Kent Bazemore.

Bazemore's preference would be to re-sign with the Hawks, but he's not ruling out the Knicks because he could fill a need for them at the wing. Bazemore reportedly won't set up any meetings until he hears what the Hawks are offering, but if he doesn't like Atlanta's initial offer, he'll give teams like the Knicks and Pelicans an opportunity to make their pitch. Bazemore is reportedly seeking an annual salary in the range of $16 million.
Jun 29 - 12:10 PM

Kent Bazemore said that he would love to stay in Atlanta.

"I am a free agent again this summer and would love to stay in Atlanta," Bazemore said. "The one thing I have learned throughout this journey is how important balance is. The game takes up a huge amount of your time, and those moments you step away from it, you want to be happy. I have grown so much in Atlanta, not only as a player but as a person, too." The Hawks drafted two small forwards on Thursday, but general manager Wes Wilcox made it clear that re-signing Bazemore is still a top priority for the franchise.
Jun 25 - 10:50 AM

Even though the Hawks drafted two small forwards, they will still make re-signing Kent Bazemore a priority in free agency.

"I will say Kent Bazemore is absolutely a Hawks priority," general manager Wes Wilcox said after the draft. "We love Kent. He is a huge part of what we do. I don’t think there should be any confusion as to how important Kent is to us." The Hawks drafted two small forwards in the first round in Taurean Prince and DeAndre Bembry, but Wilcox said that he simply took the best player available with each pick.
Jun 24 - 12:13 PM

The Pelicans are expected to go after free agent Kent Bazemore.

This isn't a surprise. Even on top of all the injuries, perhaps no team needs a reliable small forward more than the Pelicans. They just agreed to a deal with Danny Ferry as an advisor, so Ferry will likely be a part of this pursuit. Bazemore is still just 26 and his career didn't really take off until he turned 23.
Jun 8 - 3:50 PM

Kent Bazemore said that he'd "love" to return to the Hawks as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

"I would love to return here," Bazemore said. "I think the past two years I’ve taken a tremendous leap." Bazemore established himself as a starter with the Hawks, and produced some of the best numbers of his career with averages of 11.6 points, 5.1 boards, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 triples per game. It'll be interesting to see if another team can sway him away from Atlanta with a big offer, but in terms of fantasy hoops, Atlanta likely gives him the best opportunity to produce.
