Kent Bazemore had 12 points, two 3-pointers and five rebounds in 20 minutes as the Hawks' starting SF on Wednesday.
Thabo Sefolosha is rehabbing ankle surgery but he couldn't have played tonight anyway, as he's currently on trial in New York for allegedly resisting arrest last April. Bazemore looks like the favorite to start if Sefolosha isn't ready for opening night, but a reserve role would do his already-sketchy fantasy appeal no favors. Oct 7 - 9:48 PM

Kent Bazemore will start at small forward for the Hawks' preseason game vs. Cleveland on Wednesday.

Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Al Horford will join Bazemore in the starting lineup, and this is very likely what the Hawks starting lineup will look like until Thabo Sefolosha (leg) is back in action. Bazemore makes for a decent late-round flier in deep leagues, but his playing time may slowly decrease as Sefolosha gets more comfortable on the court.

The Atlanta Hawks haven't discussed a contract with Kent Bazemore yet, according to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Vivlamore adds that both sides would like to get something done, so it sounds like Bazemore isn't going anywhere when his contract ends after this season. "I’ve come to love Atlanta," he said. "Of the whole summer, I was probably only gone two weeks. I’ve spent a lot of time here. I just moved into a new house. I’m renting it. Maybe I can buy it next year." He'll see an increased role while Thabo Sefolosha is sidelined, but Bazemore shouldn't be more than a late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues as a bench player for the Hawks.
Sep 29 - 12:59 PM

Kent Bazemore said that he is going to continue to try to become one of the top defenders in the league.

"I’m just going to continue to try to be one of the best defenders in the NBA," Bazemore said. "I’ve been doing a lot of alternate training this offseason, playing tennis, golf and certain things to shape my brain to think differently." Bazemore was solid for the Hawks off the bench last season, but he could asked to play a much larger role with DeMarre Carroll out of the picture. Thabo Sefolosha is currently the favorite to start at the three, but keep a close eye on Bazemore during the preseason.
Jul 31 - 12:57 PM

Kent Bazemore will draw the start in place of Kyle Korver (ankle) for Game 3 vs. the Cavaliers on Sunday.

Korver is out for the remainder of the postseason, so Bazemore should be locked in as the starter moving forward. In 10 starts during the regular season, Bazemore averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 3-pointers, so he could be a solid option in daily leagues.
May 24 - 10:25 AM

DeMarre Carroll (knee) will start in Friday's Game 2 against the Cavs.

Carroll was wincing throughout warmups and owners have to plan for some sort of limitation. Kent Bazemore and Paul Millsap may end up picking up the slack on LeBron James. If Carroll falters then Bazemore stands to gain the most here in terms of playing time, but his numbers could suffer if he has to cover LeBron a lot. Kyle Korver could also get some time on the King.
May 22 - 7:59 PM

Kent Bazemore is ready to step into the starting lineup as LeBron James' primary defender if DeMarre Carroll (knee) can't give it a go for Friday's Game 2.

"It’s great," Bazemore said regarding the opportunity to enter the starting lineup and guard James. "It’s a great platform to show what you can do. They brought me here as a defender and that’s my job. What a great measuring stick to go up against one of the best." The energy exerted while guarding one of the best players in the league will likely lead to a limited offensive output from Bazemore, so even if he slides into a starting role, he's not going to be a great daily league play.
May 22 - 12:53 PM

Kent Bazemore played 16 minutes against the Cavs on Wednesday with 10 points, four rebounds and one block.

DeMarre Carroll (knee) suffered an injury today and he's likely going to miss time. Bazemore will have to defend LeBron James on occasion and he'll also need to cut down on his mental mistakes. Expect him to play minutes in the upper 20s while the Hawks may also go with two-PG lineups a lot more.
May 20 - 11:15 PM

Kent Bazemore struggled in a start for the short-handed Hawks on Sunday, going 2-of-8 from the field to score seven points in a 99-108 loss vs. Washington.

It was a letdown for owners relying on Bazemore as a starter, though he eased the sting by adding six rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. He's slumping offensively over his past six games, making 34.8 percent FGs and 60.0 percent FTs, and he belongs on the waiver wire with DeMarre Carroll due back on Monday.
Apr 12 - 8:50 PM

Kent Bazemore will slide into the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs. the Wizards.

Through nine games as a starter this season Bazemore has put in averages of 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 three-pointers per game. He's going to have plenty of opportunity to put up decent numbers tonight with the entire Hawks' starting five (rest) on the sidelines, so he's worth considering as a plug-and-play option in daily leagues.
Apr 12 - 4:43 PM

Kent Bazemore made 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line for 20 points against the Hornets on Saturday with five rebounds, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

He brought the ball up a lot tonight and was also setting up for plenty of corner treys. Bazemore's increased usage tonight is a great sign for his value going forward and he's certainly someone to think about for next week with the Hawks kicking off the week on a back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday.
Mar 28 - 9:23 PM

Kent Bazemore returned to the Hawks' bench with Kyle Korver (nose) active on Sunday, going scoreless without any stats to his credit in 17 minutes.

Ouch. Bazemore is averaging a middling 9.4 points, 4.6 boards and 1.8 assists as a starter this season, but he earns his keep in fantasy leagues with 1.0 triples, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks. A bench role isn't nearly as conducive to value, however, as he's averaging just 15.2 minutes as a reserve, so he can be cut in all leagues now that Korver is healthy.
Mar 22 - 5:36 PM

Kent Bazemore scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, one steal and one block in Friday's loss to the Thunder.

Bazemore has been a late-round value for 15 games now and it's unclear if Thabo Sefolosha's eventual return will knock him off that path. He's averaging 26 mpg over that span and making his best contributions in the money stat categories, averaging a combined 3.1 steals, blocks and threes per game.
Mar 21 - 2:01 AM

Kent Bazemore drew praise from Jeff Teague for his ability to be the ultimate teammate.

"We always had some funny guys, but his energy and his passion for the game rubs off on you on the floor and the locker room," Teague said. "He’s probably one of the best teammates I ever had." Bazemore has started the last two games for the Hawks and has averaged 12.0 points, 5.5 boards, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 3-pointers over that span, and with Kyle Korver (nose) likely to miss a few more games, Bazemore is suddenly worth a look in most leagues for owners in need of short-term value. The Hawks may continue to rest their key players down the stretch as well, meaning Bazemore could potentially carve out a nice role even when Korver returns.
Mar 18 - 9:40 AM

Kent Bazemore scored 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block over 29 minutes against the Kings on Monday.

Bazemore has been productive over his last four games, averaging 10.5 points with 1.0 treys, 4.3 boards, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks while hitting 48.3 percent from the field. He's definitely shooting over his head and those defensive stats will come back to earth, too, but with the Hawks ready to rest guys and Kyle Korver out for the rest of the week there's a chance he's worth owning and using down the stretch.
