Updating a previous report, the Hawks have confirmed that Kent Bazemore (right knee bone bruise) will be shut down for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
There was really no reason to rush Bazemore back for a handful of games in April, so it makes sense that the Hawks are just shutting him down, and he can be cut across the board in fantasy hoops. Tyler Dorsey should start the rest of the way, and with averages of 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 treys and 1.0 steal through two starts this season, he's worth a look in deep leagues. Taurean Prince should also see a bump in usage. Mar 12 - 3:46 PM

Date:

Kent Bazemore (right knee bone bruise) will miss at least the next "several weeks" of action.

The rules out Bazemore for the fantasy playoffs in a lot of leagues, and with no clear return date, he should be sent to the waiver wire in most leagues. Tyler Dorsey will likely be moving into the starting lineup while Bazemore is out, and with averages of 10.5 points, 5.0 boards, 4.5 dimes, 1.5 triples and 1.0 steal per game in his previous two starts this season, he could be worth a speculative add in deep leagues. Taurean Prince will also see an uptick in usage sans Bazemore.
Mar 12 - 2:54 PM

Kent Bazemore (sprained right knee) will not return on Sunday.

Bazemore landed awkwardly and immediately limped into the locker room. The Hawks have already rested him as a precaution this season, so owners should prepare for some possible DNPs -- Atlanta plays three games this week on Tuesday (vs. OKC), Thursday (vs. CHA) and Saturday (at MIL). If he does miss time, Tyler Dorsey could absorb the bulk of his playing time. Until the Hawks update Bazemore's status, though, most owners should just hold tight.
Mar 11 - 4:33 PM

Kent Bazemore returned from a one-game absence for rest and hit 6-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points, five assists and two steals in 28 minutes.

That's a pretty efficient night, but with the Hawks in full tanking mode, it's going to be hard to rely upon Bazemore every night. If you own him, watch the news and make sure he's playing when you need him. Then again, as the NBA's silly season is almost officially underway, we can say the same thing about a ton of NBA players right now.
Mar 6 - 9:50 PM

Kent Bazemore (rest) will return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Toronto, sending Tyler Dorsey back to the bench.

Bazemore took a non-back-to-back set related rest day on Sunday, but there was never any doubt about his status for tonight's game. Dorsey will see his minutes reduced to the 20s while operating in a reserve role, so it'll be tough to trust him in most leagues.
Mar 6 - 6:17 PM

Kent Bazemore is sitting out against the Suns on Sunday.

There's no injury and the Hawks are calling it "maintenance." In other words, the Hawks really want to tank this game as the Suns are one of the teams they are racing towards the bottom of the standings. Tyler Dorsey will start in his place and is worth a look as a streaming option and DFS play.
Mar 4 - 1:48 PM

Kent Bazemore scored a career-high 29 points during a 114-109 loss to the Warriors on Friday, adding three rebounds, two steals, one block and five 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

He did have a costly turnover on the last key offensive possession of the game with the Hawks down three. Andre Iguodala stole his cookies and it led to a breakaway dunk give the Warriors a five-point lead. Hey, maybe the Hawks aren't too upset with that as they move into a tie for the No. 2 spot in the lottery. The Hawks only have two more back-to-back sets the rest of the way, so hopefully Bazemore can avoid the DNP-REST.
Mar 2 - 10:25 PM

Kent Bazemore returned from a day of rest on Friday vs. the Pacers, scoring 12 points with five rebounds, two assists and a block in 28 minutes.

Bazemore was rested on the second night of a back-to-back before the All-Star break, and maybe that continues with the Hawks playing for lottery balls. For what it's worth, the Hawks have two more back-to-back sets the rest of the way. Bazemore is worth holding onto for now, but things could get messy later in the season.
Feb 23 - 10:24 PM

Kent Bazemore is not on the injury report for Friday against the Pacers.

The Hawks are expected to play their veterans in the second half, but there's a very good chance that plan changes. Bazemore did not play on Feb. 14 due to rest, so he's likely got a couple more of those coming the rest of the way. He's still worth owning in standard leagues.
Feb 22 - 5:06 PM

Kent Bazemore (rest) will not play Wednesday vs. Detroit.

Dennis Schroder (back) and Ersan Ilyasova (shoulder) have also been ruled out of Wednesday night's game, leaving the Hawks thin at guard and on the wing. Taurean Prince, DeAndre Bembry and Tyler Dorsey should all see a significant increase in playing time. Dorsey may draw the start in place of Bazemore.
Feb 14 - 1:20 PM

Kent Bazemore hit 6-of-15 shots and four 3-pointers for 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and a block in 29 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Bucks.

Bazemore had a six-point dud last Thursday but has played well in each of his last three games, scoring in double figures in each of them and averaging 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 3.0 3-pointers. He's not shooting it very well (11-of-32), but the counting stats are adding up.
Feb 13 - 10:40 PM

Kent Bazemore scored six points with four rebounds, four assists, one steal, two blocks and four turnovers in 24 minutes against the Magic on Thursday.

He did not close this game, which may have been due to one of his patented duds. It's certainly possible the Hawks do dial back his minutes going forward, but Bazemore should still get run in the mid 20s. He's still a hold in 10-team leagues.
Feb 8 - 9:27 PM

Kent Bazemore scored 25 points with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Hornets during a 123-110 loss.

He did get some point-guard run because of Dennis Schroder dealing with a shoulder injury. Bazemore has easily been the best player on the Hawks, and it'll be interesting to see how the Hawks view him as a future piece. It's certainly possible he's dealt, but his owners shouldn't be selling him at a discount because of it. He looks like a must-start player the rest of the way.
Jan 31 - 11:37 PM

Kent Bazemore hit 8-of-14 shots and four 3-pointers for 22 points, four rebounds, four assists, a steal and two blocks in 30 minutes of Monday's 105-100 win over the Wolves.

Baze had a tremendous chase-down block on Jeff Teague in the first half that changed the momentum of the game and contributed in a big way as the Hawks got their 15th win. He was awful in Saturday's loss to the Wizards when he hit 1-of-9 shots in 18 minutes, but played well on Friday with 26 points and another full stat line. He'll look to keep it going on Wednesday night against Nicolas Batum and the Hornets.
Jan 29 - 10:25 PM

Kent Bazemore finished with just three points over 18 minutes in Saturday's 129-104 loss against the visiting Wizards.

Bazemore hit just 1-of-9 from the field, including 0-of-5 from behind the 3-point line, and he was even just 1-of-2 from the free-throw stripe. He tied a season low with the three points, just one day after turning in a season-high 26 points in Charlotte. He has been a bit erratic lately, but he should give fantasy owners mid-round production down the stretch. He won't be this bad very frequently.
