Willie Reed's wife, Jasmine Reed, issued a statement on Wednesday saying that she will not press charges against her husband after he was arrested on domestic-violence charges on Sunday.
"This incident has been totally blown out of proportion. I did not call the police and I did not ask anyone to call the police on my behalf," said Mrs. Reed. "Willie is a good man and a great father. I have no intention of pressing charges and I have asked the authorities to immediately dismiss all charges against Willie. This is a private matter between my husband and I and for the sake of our family I would like to keep it that way." Aug 9 - 12:34 PM

Willie Reed's arraignment hearing in his domestic battery case has been scheduled for September 8th.

Reed was jailed over the weekend and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. The accusations made against Reed by his wife are incredibly troublesome. If found guilty, Reed will likely be facing a lengthy suspension. It's also possible that the Clippers choose to cut ties with him altogether. The arraignment hearing is just three weeks before the start of the Clippers training camp.

Willie Reed was released from jail on Sunday afternoon after his $1,500 bond was posted.

He's still in a world of trouble and has been charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. Reed's wife said that Willie grabbed her "by the shirt, hair, wrist and arm" after telling him she wanted a divorce and that she was also thrown to the ground -- she had red marks on her left wrist, right bicep, the right side of her chest and her back and swelling on her left foot. To make matters worse, their son was present during the incident. The Clippers said they are aware of the situation and are working with the NBA to "determine the facts around the situation." A court date has been set for Sept. 8.

Willie Reed was jailed on Sunday morning on a domestic violence charge.

Specifically, he was charged with misdemeanor battery and is still in jail according to the Miami Herald. Details of the alleged crime are not available yet, and all we know right now is that he was arrested in downtown Miami. We'll be on the lookout for more information throughout the day.
Aug 6 - 8:41 AM

Willie Reed has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Clippers.

Reed will have a similar role in Los Angeles to the one he had with Miami last season, operating as DeAndre Jordan's primary backup. His minutes will likely be in the teens on most nights, so Reed won't be on the floor enough to make any meaningful contributions in fantasy hoops.
Jul 18 - 2:39 PM

Willie Reed is on the Hawks radar, according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype.

Atlanta needs to add bigs. They traded away Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap signed with the Nuggets. The oft-injured Miles Plumlee currently projects at the team's starting center, with little reliable depth behind him. Reed played well in a handful of spot starts last season. He averaged 14.8 points (on 68.6 percent shooting) and 8.2 rebounds in the five games he started for Miami.
Jul 11 - 10:31 AM

Pat Riley said Willie Reed will likely move on elsewhere.

"Right now, with our front line... I hope he gets something that he deserves," Riley added. The Heat only have a $4.3 million exception anyways, and they already have Hassan Whiteside, James Johnson and Kelly Olynyk in their frontcourt. Additionally, first-round draft pick Bam Adebayo was phenomenal at the Orlando Summer League. Reed has been linked to the Clippers, 76ers, Pacers and Rockets, so he should be in line for a nice raise.
Jul 10 - 1:49 PM

The Clippers are meeting with Willie Reed and Jeff Withey on Friday.

With the Heat going over the top on Kelly Olynyk and bringing back their other free agents, Reed basically has one foot out the door in Miami. After showing some promise in Brooklyn two years ago, Reed busted out in 2016-17 with averages of 5.3 points, 4.7 boards and 0.7 blocks in 14.5 minutes per game. He is 27 years old, so he's not your traditional two-year vet.
Jul 7 - 3:17 PM

Miami likely won't be able to retain unrestricted free agent Willie Reed.

Miami will reportedly be bringing back Udonis Haslem for a 15th season with the club, and with the team drafting Bam Adebayo, there's just not much incentive for them to award a big money deal to Reed considering they will likely need to shell out a decent amount of cash to retain guys like Dion Waiters and James Johnson. Reed has received interest from the 76ers, Pacers and Rockets, but none of those places would be ideal for him in terms of fantasy hoops.

The Heat, 76ers, Pacers and Rockets have all expressed interest in free agent center Willie Reed according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.

The Heat would like to re-sign Reed, but they have bigger priorities right now including a meeting with Gordon Hayward. As for the 76ers, the last thing they need is another big. Indiana and Houston would make sense for Reed, but he would be looking at a backup role on both of those teams. None of these spots are ideal for him to hold fantasy value in standard leagues, but maybe a few more teams will reach out to him in the coming days.
Jul 2 - 10:21 AM

The Heat are reportedly "unsure" whether they'll be able to retain free agent C Willie Reed this summer.

Reed declined his $1.6 million player option and it was an easy choice, but the market will dictate whether Miami can afford his new salary. They reportedly scheduled "at least five pre-draft workouts [for] centers," none of whom are projected lottery picks -- the Heat would most likely trade down or buy second-round picks to bolster their center rotation. Miami's moves on draft day could telegraph how confident they are about keeping Reed as Hassan Whiteside's backup.
Jun 18 - 8:43 PM

Willie Reed will decline his player option and become an unrestricted free agent.

It's an easy call for Reed at just $1.5 million. Reed is one of a handful of Heat players to have a breakout year for coach Erik Spoelstra. He asserted himself as a very solid NBA backup five man and he's performed in his five starts last year, averaging 14.8 points, 8.2 boards and 1.6 blocks. Reed has said he'd like to stay with the Heat and Miami should have some cap space, so they're the favorite to bring him back.
Jun 1 - 2:39 PM

Willie Reed reiterated his desire to remain with the Heat next season.

"I mean you have an emotional attachment to these guys. This is a special team. We made history this year," Reed said. "Of course I want to be here. But we will see what happens when it comes to time to be able to talk and discuss things like that." Reed has until June 29 to decide on his $1.6 million player option, but it's an easy decision for him to opt out. Reed would be stuck behind Hassan Whiteside if he stays with the Heat, so a move away from Miami would be good news for his fantasy value. The 27-year-old big man should be poised for a career year after averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 14.5 minutes per game.
May 25 - 11:01 AM

Willie Reed said that he would prefer to re-sign with the Heat this summer.

He is fully expected to turn down his $1.6 million player option in order to test free agency. "We all want to be a part of something special," Reed said. "I love this team, I love these guys in the locker room. Being here would be great. Hopefully something works out." The Heat will prioritize re-signing Dion Waiters and James Johnson first, but Reed's asking price will determine whether or not he stays -- the Heat will have about $38 million in cap space once they clear Chris Bosh's contract off the books. Reed averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 14.5 minutes per game and is expected to focus on improving his body and footwork this offseason.
May 1 - 9:43 AM

Willie Reed was noncommittal when asked about his $1.5 million player option for the 2017-18 season.

To be clear, he's fully expected to opt out and test the open market. Reed had a productive season as Hassan Whiteside's primary backup, averaging 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 14.5 minutes per game. For him to help most fantasy owners, he will likely have to leave Miami.
