Willie Reed has been traded to the Bulls in exchange for Jameer Nelson, but Chicago will immediately waive him.
Reed is serving a six-game suspension and it's unclear if he'll draw interest once he clears waivers. He'd need an ideal landing spot to emerge with value in any fantasy format this season. Feb 8 - 11:12 AM

Willie Reed has been suspended for the next six games for his involvement in a domestic violence incident on August 5.

Reed has been a negligible part of the rotation in Detroit, so there won't be any fantasy implications with this suspension. He'll be allowed to return to the team for their game in Charlotte on February 25.
Feb 6 - 5:09 PM

Willie Reed made his Pistons debut with one assist in five minutes against the Grizzlies on Thursday.

He checked in during the third quarter and picked up three fouls in that time. Reed likely won't be in the rotation most nights, especially if he plays like this.
Feb 1 - 10:12 PM

Willie Reed is being traded to the Pistons as part of the Blake Griffin deal.

Reed will be Andre Drummond's backup in Detroit, and he'll likely have a similar role to the one Boban Marjonavic had. In other words, he remains a negligible fantasy asset.
Jan 29 - 6:46 PM

Willie Reed played two minutes of garbage time on Wednesday.

DeAndre Jordan returned to action and Reed was rooted to the bench tonight, since Montrezl Harrell (10 points, seven boards in 18 minutes) has established himself in the backup-C role. Reed is just a deep-league handcuff.
Jan 25 - 2:11 AM

Willie Reed made another start on Saturday at Utah with DeAndre Jordan (ankle) on the shelf, but Reed finished with just six points.

Reed hit 2-of-3 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, but he was limited to just 12 minutes. He did chip in with five rebounds, but it wasn't enough to make him useful even in the deepest of fantasy formats or as a contrarian play in DFS. Montrezl Harrell is the better fantasy option if you need a short-term replacement until Jordan is able to return.
Jan 20 - 11:40 PM

Willie Reed started on Wednesday but finished with four points, three rebounds and two blocks in 17 foul-plagued minutes.

DeAndre Jordan (ankle) was ruled out 90 minutes before tip-off tonight, so there's a chance he'll be back in the lineup vs. Utah on Saturday. Doc Rivers didn't sound too optimistic, but even without Jordan it's been Montrezl Harrell doing the most damage for L.A.
Jan 18 - 1:55 AM

Willie Reed will start again for Wednesday against the Nuggets.

No changes here with Milos Teodosic, Lou Williams, Tyrone Wallace and Blake Griffin starting. Montrezl Harrell has outplayed Reed, so he's probably the better option here.
Jan 17 - 10:17 PM

Willie Reed finished with just two points over 10 minutes in Monday's start against the Rockets.

Reed made another start with DeAndre Jordan (ankle) nursing an injury, but it was Montrezl Harrell and Wesley Johnson picking up more of the slack than Reed. He went for 14 points and 13 rebounds last time out to turn the heads of fantasy owners, but this performance is exactly why you need to exercise extreme caution outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues.
Jan 16 - 2:17 AM

Willie Reed was solid in a spot-start for DeAndre Jordan (ankle) on Saturday, scoring 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting to go with 13 boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 26 minutes.

As we saw last season in Miami when Hassan Whiteside was forced to the sidelines for a brief period, Reed is capable of consistently bringing this sort of effort when given the minutes, so he could be someone to consider as a speculative add in deep leagues if you've got someone to cut. Just know that he'll return to being a negligible fantasy option once Jordan returns to the court, so we wouldn't advise cutting anyone with long-term appeal.
Jan 13 - 7:49 PM

Willie Reed will replace DeAndre Jordan (ankle) in the starting lineup Saturday vs. the Kings.

Reed had four points and three rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench Thursday vs. the Warriors. Thus, despite drawing the start, Reed is a would be a risky DFS or streaming option, as Montrezl Harrell tallied 25 points (on 11-of-12 shooting), six rebounds and a steal in 27 minutes on Thursday.
Jan 13 - 2:03 PM

Willie Reed scored nine points with six rebounds and one block in 22 minutes against the Warriors on Saturday.

This wasn't a garbage time special with Reed being called upon after the Blake Griffin (concussion) injury. Reed is still behind Montrezl Harrell in the big-man pecking order, so he's only a speculative add in very deep leagues.
Jan 6 - 6:19 PM

Willie Reed notched eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 16 minutes on Wednesday.

Danilo Gallinari (glute) and Wes Johnson (foot) were both out again tonight. As a result, Montrezl Harrell's played exclusively at PF and Reed slotted into the backup center spot -- in fact, all 16 of his minutes came alongside Harrell tonight. Gallinari has been diagnosed with a partial tear and he'll be re-evaluated in January, so Reed is worth a glance if you need a center in a very deep league.

Willie Reed was a DNP-CD on Wednesday.

He's the third-string center right now, and he's got some work to do. Apparently, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has the magic touch on backup bigs. Leave Reed on the wire.
Thu, Dec 7, 2017 01:07:00 AM

Willie Reed played just six minutes with one steal against the Mavs on Saturday.

He didn't really play in garbage time, which came as a big surprise as coach Doc Rivers tries to figure out his rotation. We'll see what happens on Sunday, but Reed's value doesn't look great in even super deep leagues right now. Maybe that changes if the Clippers do opt to deal DeAndre Jordan.
