Tom Thibodeau said that he has no regrets about his time with the Bulls.
"Obviously, there were some issues, and I don't want to get into all that," Thibodeau said. "I'm very proud of what the team did. ... I think any time when you have a pro franchise, there's going to be some carping that goes on along the way." It's been well documented that Thibodeau and the Bulls' front office didn't work too well together, and both sides appear eager to move on. The Nuggets are currently the only NBA team without a head coach, but Thibodeau doesn't appear to be in the mix there. Jun 6 - 10:23 AM

The Timberwolves are a team Tom Thibodeau "always has had special feelings for," a source told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Thibodeau began his NBA coaching career as an assistant with Minnesota, so that's the root of the connection. Regardless, this seems like more speculation than reporting, and nobody is really clear on what Thibodeau plans to do next. He won't be in any kind of rush with the Bulls still on the hook for $9 million over the next two seasons, and Thibs has the luxury of waiting out an ideal opportunity before jumping back in the pool.

Contrary to a previous report, Tom Thibodeau is still interested in coaching the Pelicans and there is mutual interest between the two sides.

Thibodeau was reportedly worried that Anthony Davis would leave the Pelicans, but it's unclear how much truth there is to that statement. Alvin Gentry is still in the mix and NOLA.com's John Reid called him the frontrunner on Friday, and Jeff Van Gundy's name continues to be tossed around. This story is far from over, so we should have plenty of updates in the coming days.
May 30 - 11:38 AM

Tom Thibodeau is reportedly not interested in coaching the Pelicans, Nuggets or Magic.

Thibodeau reportedly believes that Anthony Davis will eventually leave the Pelicans, making that job a far less enticing opportunity. At this stage, this report feels more like a rumor than anything, so it'll be interesting to see if it holds true. Thibs shouldn't have much trouble securing his next head coaching gig, but after all the drama that he went through with the Bulls, he may elect to go on a one year hiatus from the coaching scene.
May 29 - 9:22 AM

At least three Bulls starters ripped coach Tom Thibodeau in their exit interviews and said they'd avoid team facility this summer if he were still there, according to Dan Bernstein of CBS Chicago.

Let the guessing game begin. Pau Gasol has been a class act for his entire NBA career, so he's the least likely of the five. Of course, the term "ripped" could be translated loosely here. The bottom line is this drama is over and the Bulls and Thibodeau will likely have to face each other next season.
May 28 - 9:24 PM

Bulls' GM Gar Forman stated during Thursday's press conference that Chicago will begin their head coaching search Thursday night, and the process will carry into the weekend.

Currently the Chicago's head coaching vacancy is Fred Hoiberg's for the taking, but it remains to be seen if Hoiberg is interested in coaching at the NBA level. Forman said that the Bulls are looking for the "right fit," and someone who has "excellent communication skills," which is a subtle shot at Tom Thibodeau as communication was a documented problem during his time in Chicago. The Bulls also fired Thib's assistant, Andy Greer on Thursday, so there won’t be many remnants of Thibodeau in Chicago when all is said and done.
May 28 - 3:59 PM

Tom Thibodeau has been informed by the Bulls that he will not be retained as the team's head coach.

This isn't Earth-shattering news as Thibodeau has been rumored to be on his way out for quite some time now. "I appreciate the contributions that Tom Thibodeau made to the Bulls organization," Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a team statement. "I have always respected his love of the game and wish him well in the future." Thibodeau will now jump to the front of the line as the most sought after free agent head coach, so we'll his status updated as things could move very quickly.

The Bulls players have been told coach Tom Thibodeau wouldn't be back next season, according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

This isn't a surprise and we're just waiting to see how it will unfold. Additionally, this report says the Pelicans and Magic have shown interest in Scott Skiles and Jeff Van Gundy to help induce the Bulls letting Thibodeau go.
May 27 - 5:39 PM

The Bulls are "giving increasing consideration" to firing coach Tom Thibodeau, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Thibodeau has $9 million left on his contract in the next two seasons, but the Bulls may not have to pay the whole amount when Thibs finds a new job. Earlier this week, there was a rumor of the Bulls waiting for all the current head-coaching vacancies to be filled. Whatever the case, this story won't be going away any time soon.

May 27 - 3:55 PM

The Bulls seem determined to let all three open coaching jobs get filled and then let coach Tom Thibodeau go.

It's no secret that the Bulls and Thibodeau are not on the same page. The Lakers have also appeared to be after Thibs. This latest report makes sense because the Bulls will seek some extra leverage and may try to get a draft pick out of losing one of the NBA's best coaches.
May 25 - 5:31 PM

Mitch Kupchak said that there was nothing to the rumors that the Lakers organization is reportedly interested in bringing on Tom Thibodeau as a head coach next season.

"I saw something about that this morning, and my first thought was, ‘Let me call Byron [Scott] and let him know that the agents are doing their job, and pay no attention,’" said Kupchak. "Not that I think Byron reads any of that stuff, but someone may call him and say ‘Hey, guess what I just read?’ Nothing to it. We’re incredibly happy with Byron." It sounds like this story was put out there by Thibodeau's camp, trying to drum up interest for the soon to be ex-head coach of the Bulls. Bulls' beat reporter K.C. Johnson also said that Orlando's interest in Thibodeau has been overstated, according to his sources.

The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly pursue Tom Thibodeau, according to Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post.

Lakers head coach Byron Scott is still under contract for one more year, but the chance to land Thibodeau may lead to the Lakers to buying out his final year. While there will be competition for Thibs' services, the Lakers would be paying four head coaches (Mike Brown, Mike D'Antoni, Scott, and Thibodeau) if this scenario comes to fruition.
May 21 - 9:27 AM

The Bulls have Fred Hoiberg atop their board to replace Tom Thibodeau as head coach, sources told CBS Sports.

Chicago doesn't want to let Thibodeau walk without having a replacement in place, and Hoiberg has been the rumored top name for several months now. Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry is also in the mix, but Hoiberg could probably walk into the United Center and into Thibodeau's office if he wanted to considering how much the Bulls want him. It may drag out for a little while, but Thibodeau will eventually be out in Chicago. As an aside, the Magic are reportedly prepared to pay Thibs $7-$9 million annually to be their head coach if he becomes available.

May 18 - 9:23 AM

Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting that Tom Thibodeau's days in Chicago are likely over.

One source close to the situation was quoted saying: "Thibs is gone. They know it and he knows it." The "they" in this quote would be John Paxson (VP of Basketball Operations) and Gar Forman (General Manager), and this goes in line with what has been reported for much of the season, as Thibodeau's relationship with management has reportedly reached an unrepairable level. The Nuggets, Pelicans, and Magic all have openings at the head coaching position, but New Orleans is the only team that owns a true superstar in Anthony Davis. Thibodeau and the Pelicans are said to have mutual interest, as Davis obviously intrigues Thibs. It'll be interesting to see how this situation plays out.

May 15 - 10:04 AM

Coach Tom Thibodeau said he expects to coach the Bulls next season.

"Until they tell me I'm not, I expect to be here," Thibodeau said. "That's the way I'm approaching it." There have been rumors of the coach heading out of town and it would be a surprise to see him back at this point. Derrick Rose said it's not up to him, but he would like Thibodeau to be back with the Bulls.
