Victor Oladipo said he'll embrace his role off the bench.
Oladipo had a big game off the bench with 24 points in Wednesday's win over the Knicks and said he'd continue to embrace his new role. "My teammates look up to me," Oladipo said. "So it was huge the way I responded today, because everybody saw that." It's unclear how long Oladipo's bench role will last, but his fantasy owners can rest easy as he's clearly capable of thriving regardless of his role. Nov 26 - 10:47 AM

Victor Oladipo came off the bench on Wednesday with a team-high 24 points vs. the Knicks, hitting 5-of-15 field goals and 13-of-15 free throws in Orlando's home win.

VO added one 3-pointer, four rebounds, two assists and zero turnovers in 26 minutes. Scott Skiles said that his lineup change wasn't "punitive," but he still sent a loud and clear message to his team. "We're trying to find a better balance between the first and second units," he said. How long Oladipo is tethered to the bench is anyone's guess, but hopefully this performance got him out of Skiles' doghouse. If nothing else Oladipo played with aggression, and his free throws easily bested his career-high of 12.
Nov 25 - 10:03 PM

Victor Oladipo will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against the Knicks, and Channing Frye will replace him in the starting five.

Oladipo has been horrible since returning from the concussion, averaging just 7.3 points, 4.0 boards and 2.7 assists per game on a putrid 31.0 percent shooting from the field, so perhaps he can get things back on track acting as a sixth man for the Magic. Oladipo has early-round upside, so owners shouldn't be looking to sell at this current low point. For what it's worth, head coach Scott Skiles said the move was not punitive, and he's just looking to get more balance with the first-unit. There's also no indication that the bench role will be a long-term thing for Dipo, and it's important to note that he's still expected to play starters minutes.
Nov 25 - 11:38 AM

Coach Scott Skiles said that it's "time to change the lineup" following a loss to the Cavs on Monday.

Oh boy. Based on how Victor Oladipo has been benched multiple times in the past week, there is a pretty good chance he or Elfrid Payton moves to the second unit because they're not playing well off each other right now. Oladipo's owners shouldn't be pushing the panic button yet and anyone who wants to own him should try to see if his owner will sell low. He finished with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one turnover in 26 minutes.
Nov 23 - 9:51 PM

Victor Oladipo did not play at all in the fourth quarter during a loss to the Kings on Saturday, finishing with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes.

Coach Scott Skiles is at it again. He apparently is not pleased with the effort from his star guard and benched him for a big chunk of the second half for the second game in a row. This should only be a temporary thing because Oladipo is too good, so his owners just have to weather the storm. He's a buy-low option.
Nov 21 - 7:34 PM

Victor Oladipo returned from a concussion on Wednesday, but he was benched to begin the second half and finished with only one point, three rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.

Oladipo was 0-of-6 from the field at halftime and Scott Skiles simply went with guys who were producing. The good news is that Oladipo's low playing time isn't related to his concussion. He has been hovering around top-40 value in 9-cat leagues this season, in part because he's kept his turnovers down to 1.7 per game. Expect him to creep into third-round territory once his shot starts falling. We fully expect him to start vs. the Kings on Saturday.
Nov 18 - 10:43 PM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, sending Channing Frye to the bench.

Oladipo has been medically cleared from the concussion, although head coach Scott Skiles said he will monitor Victor closely during Wednesday's game, so there's a chance he doesn't get his usual minutes. Still, he remains a must-start guy every time he's on the floor, so go ahead and get him active.
Nov 18 - 5:21 PM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) has been placed on the active roster for Wednesday's game against the Wolves.

While there's no official word just yet, it's looking very likely that Oladipo will be able to give it a go tonight. If he does play, Channing Frye will head back to the bench and Aaron Gordon will lose some minutes. Stay tuned.
Nov 18 - 5:16 PM

Magic head coach Scott Skiles said that he expects Victor Oladipo to suit up for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.

The Magic have not yet completed their consultation with the NBA's concussion expert, but things are moving in a positive direction regarding Dipo's status. His return to the lineup will send Channing Frye back to the bench, and Aaron Gordon's value will take a bit of a hit.
Nov 18 - 11:53 AM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) could be cleared for Wednesday's game against Minnesota.

Magic head coach Scott Skiles said Oladipo has been riding the stationary bike, jogging, and getting in non-contact work so we'll have to wait and see what happens after shootaround on Wednesday. If Oladipo sits, Elfrid Payton and Evan Fournier will both again see a boost in fantasy value, with Shabazz Napier getting a bump as well.

Victor Oladipo remains in the concussion protocol, and there is no timetable for his return.

It was flooring to watch Oladipo stagger up and down the court for multiple possessions before he was finally pulled from the game, and it's currently unclear when he'll be able to get back on the court. Although he rode a stationary bike at Monday's practice, it sounds like Wednesday vs. the Timberwolves may be a little too soon for Oladipo's return.
Nov 16 - 1:09 PM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) will not play on Saturday vs. the Wizards.

Oladipo will miss his second consecutive game and will have to pass the league's concussion protocol before he can return. Expect the Magic to go with Elfrid Payton and Evan Fournier in the backcourt against Washington.
Nov 14 - 9:07 AM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) will not play vs. the Jazz on Friday as expected.

C.J. Watson is also out, so Shabazz Napier will see a nice boost in minutes off the bench. Oladipo will have to pass the league's concussion protocol, but it's still unclear when he will be able to return.
Nov 13 - 11:25 AM

Victor Oladipo was diagnosed with a concussion on Thursday.

That means he'll have to go through the protocol until he is symptom-free and he could miss the weekend. Oladipo banged the side of his head into Dewayne Dedmon and was very woozy in the following two minutes. Initially, Aaron Gordon started the second half on Wednesday while we should see more value out of Mario Hezonja and Shabazz Napier.
Nov 12 - 7:22 PM

Victor Oladipo (concussion) will see a doctor on Thursday.

Oladipo was unable to practice on Thursday and it sounds like he's trending towards doubtful for Friday's game against the Jazz. We'll keep an eye out for updates, but Shabazz Napier will see the biggest boost in his fantasy value if Dipo is unable to play on Friday.
