Victor Oladipo had a "vigorous" workout before Saturday's game against the Sixers, according to team beat writer John Denton.
He's not going to play in the game, though. There was never much of a concern with his mild MCL sprain considering he played through the injury without knowing it, but this is concrete proof he'll be on the court for game action soon. He's a breakout candidate and is worth a look around pick 50. Oct 18 - 5:59 PM

Victor Oladipo (knee) will not play against the Pistons on Friday.

With the start of the regular season right around the corner, it's beginning to look like we may not see Oladipo play in an exhibition game. While it would be nice to see the second-year player on the court before opening night, there have been no indications that he'll return this preseason. He remains a high-upside target in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts now that Jameer Nelson is out of the picture.

Victor Oladipo (knee) will not play in Wednesday's exhibition game against Flamengo.

Oladipo is getting closer to returning to the court, but it's starting to sound like we may not see much of him before the start of the regular season as he recovers from a minor MCL sprain. The second-year player is a popular breakout pick entering the 2014-15 fantasy season and is still a solid high-upside target in the early-middle rounds of fantasy drafts.
Oct 14 - 12:01 PM

Victor Oladipo (knee) will not play on Monday and has been doing work in the pool to recover from a minor MCL sprain.

He didn't get ruled out of Monday's game until today, so chances are he'll be ready to go for the regular season. Oladipo was much better on the wing last season and the Magic won't put him at the point as much. He has top-25 upside in eight-category leagues and is a nice target in the early-middle rounds.
Oct 13 - 12:52 PM

Victor Oladipo (sprained MCL) is highly unlikely to suit up for Monday's preseason game vs. the Hornets.

Oladipo is making progress, but the Magic aren't going to rush him to return. He's likely to be ready to go by opening night, and is primed for a big season as the team's starting shooting guard. Oladipo averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.9 three-pointers as a starter for the Magic last season, and he's a solid early-mid round target in standard leagues.
Oct 12 - 12:00 PM

Victor Oladipo (sprained MCL) was spotted doing some full-court sprints during Friday's practice.

This is a step in the right direction, and all signs are pointing to Oladipo being a go for opening night. Oladipo has tantalizing upside after averaging 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.9 three-pointers as a starter last season, and with Arron Afflalo no longer standing in his way, Victor is primed for a breakout season. He's a solid early-mid round target in standard leagues.
Oct 10 - 5:16 PM

Victor Oladipo (knee) will not play on Friday due to "minor knee soreness," according to beat writer John Denton.

There is still no concrete timetable on his return, but it would appear Oladipo will be back in time for the regular season. He only has a minor sprain and was actually even able to play through the injury last week. Fantasy owners can look to target him in the early middle rounds.
Oct 10 - 10:58 AM

There is still no firm timetable for Victor Oladipo's (sprained MCL) return to the court.

Oladipo is set to miss Friday's preseason game against the Pacers, but added that his knee is feeling better and that he's been increasing his workload. While the Magic are going to take a cautious approach with the 22-year-old, fantasy owners should use this as an opportunity to find value on draft day as Oladipo should be ready for the start of the regular season.
Oct 9 - 11:37 AM

Victor Oladipo (sprained MCL) traveled with the Magic on Tuesday and he's already "slowly increasing his workload."

It sounds like Oladipo suffered a very minor sprain and we expect him to be fine for the start of the regular season. The Magic may hold him out of more preseason games, as they'll be very cautious with their starting SG, but the injury shouldn't prevent fantasy owners from targeting him.
Oct 8 - 12:58 PM

Coach Jacque Vaughn called it a "good sign" that Victor Oladipo (right knee) was able to finish practice on Friday after his MCL sprain.

Oladipo didn't sound discouraged either and said the time to prepare for the season in the film room will be "huge." The team still hasn't announced a prognosis for the second-year guard, but it would appear he has a good chance to be ready for the season opener. We still love Oladipo and perhaps he can come at a slightly cheaper price on draft day.
Oct 6 - 11:55 AM

Victor Oladipo sprained his MCL in a team scrimmage on Friday night and he will not play on Tuesday night.

He finished the scrimmage on Friday even after the injury. On Saturday, he had some soreness and it led to the team giving him an MRI. The team has not given a prognosis or revealed the severity of his sprain. Oladipo came into training camp with a lot of momentum and would have been worthy of a pick around No. 50 in fantasy drafts before this news. He still has a month to recover and we'll pass along info as it becomes available. If this is a serious sprain, Evan Fournier would be worth a look in most formats.
Oct 6 - 10:51 AM

Magic coach Jacque Vaughn is hopeful that improved defense "will spur [Orlando's] ability to run and get out offensively."

The Magic ranked 29th in offensive efficiency last season and they lost veteran scorers Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson during the offseason. They added rookies Elfrid Payton and Aaron Gordon, in addition to Channing Frye and a slew of guards, but they're primarily relying on development from guys like Victor Oldipo, Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic.
Sep 30 - 5:02 PM

Victor Oladipo said he is still adjusting to traveling life in the NBA.

"It's tough," Oladipo said. "You get into the hotel at 1 or 2 in the morning. It's 24 hour room service. You can get whatever you want. I mean, anything you want. I don't have to explain that." The 22-year-old is coming off a rookie season during which he averaged 13.8 points, 0.9 three-pointers, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.6 steals and should be on fantasy owners' short lists as a breakout player in 2014-15.
Aug 28 - 11:58 AM

Victor Oladipo is working out in Indiana with Dwyane Wade, Tyler Zeller, Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Udonis Haslem and Josh McRoberts.

Oladipo, Zeller and Wade all had the same college coach, Indiana head coach Tom Crean, and Wade has been very close to coach Crean since his Marquette days. Oladipo was compared to Wade coming out of the draft and figures to play much more shooting guard this season. He could have a breakout season and is worth a look any time after Round 3 in standard fantasy drafts.
Aug 18 - 11:43 AM

Victor Oladipo learned a lot from his experience with USA Basketball's select team, and he will bring that knowledge with him to Orlando.

"The biggest thing was just the intensity everybody played with," said Oladipo. "It was amazing, and I could definitely learn from that... Going up against the best in the world every day, for three days straight, was crazy. It definitely helped me realize where I was at and what I need to work on and what I need to get better at. And it gave me a little bit of confidence as well. I’m just going to try to carry it over to the team, and I’m looking forward to bringing the same intensity that was there every day to the Orlando Magic as well." With Aaron Afflalo gone, Oladipo has no competition for minutes, and he is primed to have a solid sophomore season with the Magic.
