Trey Burke scored 17 points in a win over the 76ers on Saturday, adding four assists, one board, one steal and one 3-pointer in 38 minutes.
He simply hasn't lived up to his potential so far this season and being undersized has been a bigger obstacle than everyone thought. Alec Burks is really struggling with his shoulder, so Burke will have to handle the ball even more for the Jazz for the foreseeable future. Dec 28 - 12:54 AM

Date:

Trey Burke scored 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds, five assists and one steal on Friday.

Burke is a low-end player in 12-team formats and he will alternate between 'cut' lines and 'hold' lines all year long.
Dec 19 - 11:06 PM

Trey Burke hit just 3-of-10 shots (all 3-pointers) for nine points, one rebound, two assists and a steal in Wednesday's win over the Heat.

Dante Exum came off the bench for 10 points, three assists and two 3-pointers on 4-of-5 shooting in 24 minutes, but the starting job is still clearly in the hands of Burke. He had 16 points, six boards, a block and two 3-pointers on Tuesday, and will probably bounce back in his next one.
Dec 18 - 12:43 AM

Trey Burke scored 16 points while adding six boards, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes on Tuesday vs. the Pelicans.

He set a career-high for points in a quarter with 14 in the first, but really slowed down as the game wore on and turned the ball over five times. Burke has been better lately after a slow start to the season, but games like this are bound to happen as he continues to develop his game. However, he doesn't have any real competition for playing time and should still be considered a buy-low player.
Dec 16 - 11:28 PM

Trey Burke played 32 minutes on Tuesday but finished with only eight points, one rebound, two assists, one steal and three turnovers.

Utah's 22-year-old point guard is slowly figuring out how to succeed on a nightly basis in the NBA -- he struggled throughout most of Tuesday's game but his ability to penetrate the lane in the fourth quarter was crucial as the Jazz held onto a narrow lead. His 36.6 percent shooting is a major drag for 8-cat and 9-cat owners, but he has enough promise to be worth holding in most 12-team formats.
Dec 10 - 12:19 AM

Trey Burke made 7-of-13 from the field for 18 points during a 103-101 loss to the Nuggets on Monday, adding one rebound, eight assists and four 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

Excluding a nightmare outing against Chris Paul on Saturday, Burke is fairly hot as a scorer. Over his last five including that dud, Burke averaged 14.2 points, 5.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 2.0 triples on 52.7 percent from the field. This is probably the hottest he's been in his NBA career and he's worth owning. Although, he's a bit of a sell-high player.
Dec 1 - 11:53 PM

Trey Burke scored just three points in 29 minutes against the Clippers on Saturday with one rebound, three assists and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes.

He was 1-of-6 from the field and it looked like he had no idea how to score against Chris Paul tonight. Burke actually had some momentum coming into tonight with three games of at least 50.0 percent from the field, so his owners shouldn't press the panic button. He'll get a much better matchup against Ty Lawson on Monday.
Nov 29 - 11:56 PM

Trey Burke scored 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting with three rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and a 3-pointer in Monday's tight loss to the Bulls.

Burke has battled back in 8-cat leagues with a top-120 value on the year, but in 9-cat leagues he needs a lot of help and sits at a meager top-160 value. He's still hitting just 34.6 percent from the field on the year, but has hit 16-of-28 shots in his last two games and might be ready to fix that.
Nov 25 - 2:01 AM

Trey Burke shot the ball well against the Pelicans on Saturday, making 8-of-12 from the field for 20 points with four assists, one block and two 3-pointers.

Maybe his buzzer-beater at Madison Square Garden has carried over, but that's unlikely. Burke is still shooting just 32.0 percent from the field before this game, so he'll need to string together a few games before we say he's ready to take off.
Nov 23 - 2:21 AM

Trey Burke scored just 12 points with three rebounds, five assists and one turnover in 34 minutes against the Raptors on Saturday.

He couldn't build off his game-winning shot at Madison Square Garden. Burke has struggled for basically the entire season and he was just 4-of-15 from the field. He's not really a must-own player because of his efficiency issues.
Nov 15 - 11:02 PM

Trey Burke hit 5-of-9 shots (including three treys) and the game-winner against the Knicks on Friday.

Burke added one rebound, eight assists and a block in his 35 minutes, and this could be exactly what he needs to get jump-started. He has rehabilitated his nine-cat value into borderline 12-team territory, and he's a solid late-round value in 8-cat leagues. Showing signs of life lately and holding onto a starting job, he's worth a pickup if he had been dropped in most formats.
Nov 15 - 12:25 AM

Trey Burke hit just 5-of-15 shots on Wednesday, but also made a 3-pointer and had 11 points, a season-high 11 assists and three steals in the loss to the Hawks.

He played 35 minutes and while his season got off to a terrible start, he's still the starting point guard and is still getting the bulk of minutes. He's not really reliable enough to be started right now, but given his job and minutes, he could easily turn it around at any time. Let's see if he can keep it going on Friday at New York.
Nov 12 - 10:10 PM

Trey Burke's struggles continued against the Pacers on Monday, making 2-of-12 from the field for five points, two rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.

He's made just 25.6 percent from the field in his last five and he probably shouldn't be allowed to shoot the ball 12 times in a game. Burke is passing the ball a little better, but his defense was bad tonight, too. He had a couple bright spots in the preseason, but he's showing no signs of improvement in the regular season. He's outside of the top 200 for per-game value in nine-category leagues and he'd need a lot to happen to be a top-100 guy. He's not going to get a ton of steals and we certainly don't hate the idea of dropping him.
Nov 10 - 10:03 PM

Trey Burke is shooting just 32.4 percent from the field this season.

Burke is also shooting just 24.2 percent from behind the 3-point line, so things can really only get better from here on out. "Shooting is a difficult thing to gauge," coach Quin Snyder said. "He shot it really well in the preseason. I think guys go through those periods." With averages of just 9.7 points and 3.9 assists, Burke's owners are hoping he gets it going very soon. Don't give up on him.
Nov 10 - 11:55 AM

Jazz PG Trey Burke finished Sunday's comeback win with just seven points on 2-of-8 shooting, adding two rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 24 minutes.

Burke recently watched film with coach Quin Snyder to address areas of concern, but apparently they'll need to get back in the video room on Monday. His excellent preseason has faded from view through the first two weeks of the season and standard-league owners may be forced to cut their losses -- his poor 38.0 percent shooting from last season has actually regressed to just 33.3 percent through Utah's first seven games.
