Trey Burke played 29 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, but hit just 2-of-8 shots for seven points, five rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers.
Burke came in hot, scoring 23, 19 and 16 points in his previous three games, but the good news doesn't stop there. He finally started over Dante Exum in the second half, which could mean Burke might be ready to finally retake his job from the rookie. If he's available in your league, pick him up. Date:

Trey Burke made 6-of-15 from the field for 16 points with six rebounds, four assists, one steal and four 3-pointers against the Mavs on Wednesday.

His numbers are awful heading into the break. In his last four, Burke made just 26.0 percent from the field for averages of 7.8 points, 4.3 boards, 3.3 assists, 0.3 steals and 1.3 treys. He's shot better from deep than inside the arc in that stretch and he's just never going to be able to score the ball efficiently. Burke has been the 187th best player in the past month for owners in standard leagues.
Feb 12 - 1:17 AM

Trey Burke missed all 10 of his field goal attempts and did not score on Monday against the Pelicans.

Burke played just 22 minutes and added four rebounds and two assists in the outing. Dante Exum (eight points, five assists, two threes, 3-of-11 FGs) has been getting praise for his defense and hasn't been a total zero on offense lately, but it's probably too early to call this a pendulum swing. As for Burke, owners may want to cut the second year player some slack for at least another game or two.
Feb 10 - 2:33 AM

Trey Burke hit just 2-of-13 shots (1-of-7 from deep) for five points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Dante Exum finally wasn't a total zero in the box score with six points, three boards, four assists and two treys in 28 minutes, but owners should just treat this as one bad game and keep the needle where it's at. Burke has a late-round projection unless the wheels fall off.
Feb 7 - 3:14 AM

Trey Burke hit 7-of-13 shots for 21 points, three rebounds, four assists, a steal and three 3-pointers off the bench on Wednesday.

He's thriving in a bench role and could replace Dante Exum as the starter at any time. He's averaging 16.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 2.6 3-pointers over his last five games, but is shooting just 38 percent during that stretch. However, he's been better than that over his last three, and looks like a must-start fantasy player, despite losing his job to Exum.
Feb 5 - 1:46 AM

Trey Burke scored 15 points on 6-of-16 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, seven assists and zero steals in 34 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Burke is basically playing starter's minutes and Dante Exum isn't winning any awards as the starting point guard. There's a bit of unease given this strange experiment, but Burke should be worth owning for the rest of the year.
Jan 31 - 2:26 AM

Trey Burke came off the bench again and hit just 4-of-15 shots for 11 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss.

He's easily outplayed starter Dante Exum for the last two games, and has been solid over his last four, scoring in double figures and averaging 14.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 3.0 3-pointers. He's shooting just 37 percent from the floor though, and his poor shooting, combined with his lack of assists and rebounds, makes him a borderline player to own right now. If he gets his starting job back though, we'd recommend picking him up.
Jan 29 - 2:49 AM

Trey Burke scored 18 points off the bench with four 3-pointers, but did not post any other stats in his 32 minutes.

Burke hit just 7-of-20 shots so this isn't ideal to say the least. Dante Exum managed just one rebound and two assists in 25 minutes, so we'll have to see how long the current arrangement plays out. If Exum doesn't severely cut into Burke's load, he has a pretty good chance at late-round value in standard formats.
Jan 27 - 12:01 AM

Trey Burke was terrific off the bench against the Nets on Saturday, scoring 19 points with two rebounds, three assists, one steal, four 3-pointers and no turnovers on 7-of-13 from the field.

He's certainly embraced his sixth-man role and played 26 minutes. The most important thing is minutes for a player's stat output and the early indication is Burke's efficiency and usage have gone up. His body of work suggests he's not going to be this good, but feel free to give him a look to see if he can kept going.
Jan 25 - 12:28 AM

Trey Burke was bumped to the bench against the Bucks on Thursday, playing 24 minutes for 10 points with two rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers.

Meanwhile, Dante Exum played the game of his life on offense. Burke may have been moved to the bench to help out the second unit with Derrick Favors out, but there's a chance that he stays there. Burke was hot to start 2015, but he's cooled off and has only been a late-round guy in the past two weeks. He's not someone fantasy owners should have confidence in right now and is not a must-own player in standard formats.
Jan 23 - 12:38 AM

Trey Burke will shift to the bench for Thursday's game against the Bucks, and rookie Dante Exum will replace him in the starting lineup.

Burke's owners shouldn't panic just yet, as there is no indication that this will be a permanent move. We will continue to follow this story closely, and we will let you know how he fares after the game.
Jan 22 - 6:55 PM

Trey Burke was invisible on Wednesday, hitting just 1-of-10 shots and finishing with two points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 19 minutes.

This wasn't Burke's night and there are no reports of an injury. He'll bounce back soon and this was likely just an off-night against Kyrie Irving.
Jan 21 - 10:38 PM

Trey Burke hit four treys in Friday's win over the Lakers, hitting 7-of-19 shots for 20 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Burke is going to have a late-round floor and a hint of upside beyond that now that Alec Burks is out of the picture.
Jan 17 - 2:14 AM

Trey Burke scored 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds, five assists and two steals in Friday's loss.

Burke has been a top-20 this past week in the small three-game sample size, but he's certainly a must-own player and if he keeps it up he'll be a must-start player pretty soon.
Jan 10 - 1:42 AM

Trey Burke was the best point guard on the floor against the Bulls during a 97-77 win on Wednesday, scoring 17 points with three rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers.

That's two solid games in a row following a 2-of-19 from the field to start 2015. December was not kind to Burke, making just 37.1 percent from the field while not doing much else on the stat sheet. He's still more of a bench guy in standard leagues with a fairly low ceiling. He's better in points formats, though.
