Trey Burke (illness) will not play Tuesday against the Mavs.
He has the flu and could miss Wednesday's game as well. Raul Neto should play more in the first unit while Erick Green will be in the rotation. Burke isn't a player worth owning in most leagues. Feb 8 - 6:26 PM

Date:

Trey Burke (flu-like symptoms) will not be traveling with the team to Phoenix for Saturday's game.

While Burke could technically catch a later flight to Arizona, it seems much more likely that he'll spend Saturday's game on the sidelines, which would result in heavy minutes for Rodney Hood and Raul Neto. Hood will get an extremely favorable matchup tomorrow, and he'd be someone to target in DFS.

Trey Burke (flu-like symptoms) will not return to Friday's game vs. the Bucks.

Burke will finish his evening with just one rebound and one assist to his credit, and we're going to consider him questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Suns. If he's out tomorrow, Rodney Hood will likely get all the run he can handle. Burke's game translates better to points formats, but he's not worth owning in standard 8-cat and 9-cat leagues.
Feb 5 - 10:52 PM

Trey Burke left Friday's game with a case of nausea, and he is questionable to return.

He's going to be re-evaluated after half-time, so we'll have another update then. Stay tuned.
Feb 5 - 10:00 PM

Trey Burke played just 16 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, finishing with just two points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal, as he hit just 1-of-4 shots.

Burke hasn't cracked the 20-minute mark in four straight games and as long as that's the case, he's not worth having in your lineup. He could easily make a comeback at any time this season, but starting PG Raul Neto is eating up his minutes these days, along with other Jazz role players. Even guard Erick Green saw a season-high three minutes tonight and played in the first half. And in case you're wondering, Neto is not a guy you want to be looking to own right now, despite the decent run.
Feb 4 - 12:59 AM

Trey Burke missed all eight of his shots from the field in Monday's loss to the Pistons, finishing with zero points and six assists in 22 minutes.

He looked awful on Monday and this was his third scoreless game of the season. Raul Neto left after six minutes with a concussion and could be looking at some time on the sidelines, but Burke didn't exactly make a case for more minutes. He was averaging 14.0 points, 2.4 assists, 2.0 boards and 1.3 3-pointers in January prior to this dud, so it makes sense to hold onto him if you're in a points league.
Jan 26 - 2:57 AM

Despite initial disappointment that he wasn't starting, Trey Burke has embraced his reserve role.

"I had worked so hard," Burke said. "I accepted it as soon as he told me because I knew I still would play. I wanted to be a guy who came in and really had a spark to me, [but] it was an adjustment." Burke is the fourth highest bench scorer in the NBA averaging 12.7 points per game, and he's shooting a career-high 43.6 percent from the field in the process. Quin Snyder has praised the point guard for his progress, but he wants Burke to remain "focused defensively." As for his fantasy outlook, Burke is best suited for points formats.
Jan 25 - 9:18 AM

Trey Burke scored 25 points off the bench against the Hornets during a double-overtime loss on Monday, adding three rebounds, two assists, one steal and three 3-pointers.

He's playing a lot better and the Jazz have gone with more two-PG lineups. Burke has been able to string together four good games in a row, averaging 18.3 points, 1.8 boards, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.5 treys on 47.0 percent from the field. The lack of dimes and really anything besides scoring is why he's not a great asset in standard leagues. He should be owned in points leagues, though.
Jan 18 - 5:39 PM

Trey Burke scored 17 points against the Kings on Thursday with one steal and two turnovers in 31 minutes.

He played four minutes next to Raul Neto tonight, which was a combo used for just 14 minutes the entire season before tonight. Neto has actually been outplaying Burke in fantasy and in reality lately, but neither is worth holding in standard leagues.
Jan 15 - 1:02 AM

Trey Burke played 24 minutes against the Rockets with 10 points, two rebounds, three assists, one 3-pointer and three turnovers.

You have to take the good with the back with Burke. The good news is that he's seen a five-minute increase per game since Alec Burks (ankle) went down six games ago, averaging 16.7 points, 2.0 boards, 3.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 treys in that span -- good for 12th-round value. With Rodney Hood (ankle) hurt, he's a little more attractive, but he's still only an add if you're cutting something you're not going to miss much.
Jan 7 - 11:43 PM

Trey Burke scored a team-high 21 points against the Spurs on Wednesday with one rebound, four assists and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes.

That's three 20-plus scoring games in his last five. In that span, Burke averaged 18.0 points, 2.0 boards, 3.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.4 treys on 46.2 percent from the field. His improved play does have a little bit to do with Derrick Favors (back) missing time, but most of it is because Alec Burks (leg) is out. He's still not the strongest add in standard leagues.
Jan 7 - 12:34 AM

Trey Burke scored nine points on 3-of-13 shooting with two boards, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes vs. the Grizzlies on Saturday.

He had two turnovers and missed all three of his 3-point attempts, but his poor field goal percentage is a reason why we were so skeptical about adding him after Alec Burks (ankle) went down. Burke did score a total of 50 points (25.0 ppg) in his two previous outings, so give him a look in deeper leagues since the Jazz play five times next week.
Jan 3 - 12:29 AM

Trey Burke scored 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting with three assists, one board, one steal and two 3-pointers in a win over the Blazers on Thursday.

That's two great games in a row for Burke, and it's possible that he could continue to be the primary beneficiary in Alec Burks' absence. Burke is known for his inefficiency and we would like to see him do this again, but at least put him on your radar if you need a guard.
Jan 1 - 12:15 AM

Trey Burke played a season-high 37 minutes against the Wolves on Wednesday, scoring 23 points with one rebound, four assists, two blocks, one steal and three 3-pointers.

He was hot and the Jazz just stuck with him for some added playing time. Burke played just 24 minutes on Monday, which is a more realistic expectation for his playing time going forward. While he does gain some value with Alec Burks (leg) out, he's still not the strongest add in standard leagues. If you need help in points leagues, he's worth a look.
Wed, Dec 30, 2015 11:26:00 PM

Trey Burke came off the bench for 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting vs. Golden State, adding one 3-pointer with three assists, two steals and one block in 28 minutes.

He had zero rebounds and didn't attempt any free throws, a not-uncommon sight for Utah's reserve guard. He's shooting 43.5 percent this season, which is by far a career high, yet he's only been a plus-contributor in 3-pointers.
