Trey Burke said he has to be ready to "step up" with Dante Exum (knee) lost for the season.
"I haven't hit the goals that I have for myself," Burke admitted before discussing Exum's injury. "You don't want to see that for nobody. But it's a part of the game and unfortunately it happened to Dante. It's something that I really felt like [this year] was a opportunity either way. But I guess people see it more as an opportunity now because obviously we play the same position. I have to be ready to step up again and just make plays for the team." Not guaranteed to start even with Exum sidelined, Burke is entering a critical third season. Aug 24 - 9:56 AM

Trey Burke said he's not worrying about being the starter.

There are some murmurs of rookie Raul Neto getting the starting job, which makes sense because Burke was better in the second unit. Although, when Trey Burke was on the court with Rudy Gobert, Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood, he had a 59.4 effective field goal percentage. The bad news on that stat is that it was just 16 shots and the Jazz had a net rating of minus-11.0.

Trey Burke has reportedly been spending time working out in Salt Lake City.

With Dante Exum (knee) set to miss the 2015-16 season, it's nice to see Burke putting in the extra minutes during the offseason. While Burke hasn't been the most dependable player to own during his career, he'll see a larger role this season due to Exum's injury and is worth a late-round pick in standard fantasy leagues as the Jazz don't have anyone to push him for minutes.
Aug 20 - 10:49 AM

Trey Burke was reportedly left off Team USA's 34-man roster in favor of Michael Carter-Williams.

Burke's value around the league has taken a serious dive after a couple of disappointing seasons, so this isn't a surprise. MCW's chances of making the final roster for the Rio Olympics in 2016 are slim to none, so the only positive for him is that he will get to train alongside some superstar PGs including Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, John Wall and Kyrie Irving. Burke could be the starting PG in Utah next season depending on the status of Dante Exum's knee, so we will watching closely for an update.

Trey Burke said that he isn't worried about the increased competitition for minutes at point guard next year.

"It's all motivation. Right now, I'm as hungry as I've ever been, to be honest with you," Burke said. "At the point I'm at right now, I'm not worried about certain signings. I'm always a team guy. I've never been not a team player. I've never questioned anything on the team or anything like that and I've always felt like I've worked for what I've gotten. I don't think nothing's been handed to me. I just look at it as another test. A stepping stone. You can use it as motivation going into training camp. Right now, I'm really dedicating myself and, come training camp, I know I'll be prepared, and that's all that matters." Dante Exum is penciled in as the starting PG in Utah right now, so Burke won't be a target outside of deeper leagues unless he win his spot back in training camp.
Jul 30 - 3:48 PM

Trey Burke struggled shooting last season when the shot clock had seven seconds or less remaining.

Burke shot just 35 percent from the field in those situations, including a paltry 32 percent from distance. With Dante Exum now in the fold with his rookie season under him, the 6'6" point guard could start putting additional heat on Burke for playing time. With Alec Burks (shoulder) also returning from surgery, we'd let someone else roll the dice on Burke.
Jul 27 - 8:26 AM

Trey Burke will play for Team World in the NBA Africa Game.

It's part of the NBA's Basketball without Borders Africa event from July 29 through Aug. 1. Burke's Team World will go up against Team Africa in Johannesburg, Africa. He's in the midst of his third NBA offseason and this time he'll be coming off the bench to start the season. Additionally, he might play off the ball more with Alec Burks running the second unit. Burke isn't a great fantasy target.
Jul 23 - 10:21 PM

The Utah Jazz are looking to trade Trey Burke, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

It's unclear exactly what the Jazz are looking for in return, but Genessy reports that Burke would be moved as part of a draft day deal. A Burke trade would open up more minutes for Dante Exum and Rodney Hood, so fantasy owners will want to pay close attention to this news as both of those players could see a boost in value if Burke is moved.
Jun 25 - 1:38 PM

Trey Burke made 1-of-11 from the field for four points against the Rockets during a 117-91 loss on Wednesday, adding two rebounds, four assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

Well, this awful game dropped him to just 36.8 percent from the field in his sophomore season. Burke was once again one of the worst players in the paint this season thanks to making just 39.3 percent of his 321 attempts from there. That's even worse considering he had a 23.7 usage rate this season. He has a lot of work to do this offseason. Unless something crazy happens, he's not someone to target in standard drafts.
Apr 15 - 11:57 PM

Trey Burke (back) will play against the Rockets on Wednesday.

The Jazz could see their position in the lottery change tonight, but they've already ruined their chances as one of the best teams since the break -- they are a top-five team for net rating. Burke is still a risky fantasy option. Bryce Cotton loses some appeal after playing the game of his life.
Apr 15 - 6:36 PM

Trey Burke (back) is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. the Rockets.

The probable tag doesn't necessarily mean much, as he was listed as probable for Monday's game as well but ended up not playing. Owners can expect to get another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround, and if he's unable to go, Dante Exum would get all the run he can handle with Bryce Cotton serving as his primary backup. Cotton went off for 21 points in his last outing, so he'd be worth a look in daily leagues if Burke can't go. Stay tuned.
Apr 14 - 6:23 PM

Trey Burke (back) will not play against the Mavs on Monday.

He was listed as probable for this game, but the Mavs will just keep him out. Dante Exum will log most of the minutes, but he hasn't been involved in the offense much. Expect Bryce Cotton to back up Exum tonight.
Apr 13 - 7:27 PM

Trey Burke (back) is listed as probable for Monday's game against Dallas.

Burke played through the back injury last week before being forced to sit out again, and now he'll be back in the lineup. He's not a recommended fantasy option at this point in the season, especially if his back is limiting how many minutes he can play.
Apr 13 - 1:19 PM

Trey Burke (back) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.

He didn't play on Friday after an aggravation on Wednesday. There's a decent chance Burke is out for the rest of the season. Without Burke, Rodney Hood has looked exceptional in the starting lineup while Bryce Cotton will also get minutes in the teens tonight. Hood is a must-own player right now.
Apr 11 - 3:16 PM

Trey Burke (sore lower back) will not play against the Grizzlies on Friday night.

He had a lower back injury earlier this month, but he was able to play in the last two games. With Burke out, there should be more minutes going to Bryce Cotton. Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles and Dante Exum also benefit.
