Trey Burke knocked down 7-of-9 FGs and 4-of-4 FTs to finish Wednesday's home victory with 18 points and two assists in just 17 minutes off the bench.
Burke hadn't scored more than eight points in a game prior to this outburst, and his low playing time is key -- nothing about this line is sustainable. He'd only be worth a look if John Wall got injured. Nov 9 - 9:35 PM

Trey Burke played 16 minutes against the Magic on Saturday with four points and one turnover.

He’s clearly behind Tomas Satoransky and it looks like the Wizards have soured on him. Burke still hasn’t figured out an offensive weapon to hang his hat on and he’s not a great passer, so it’s going to be tough for him to get going.

Trey Burke is struggling mightily this season and will likely see his minutes reduced.

Trey Burke played poorly in the preseason for the Wiz and had continued to struggle in the regular season as well. Burke is averaging just 3.7 points and 1.0 assist per game. He has seen his playing time drop in three consecutive contests. From 16 minutes in the opener, to just six minutes in Wednesday night's loss to the Raptors, when Burke was held scoreless and didn't record a single assist. Coach Scott Brooks told reporters that he is definitely going to consider replacing Burke in the lineup with Tomas Satoransky. Burke can safely be dropped in all leagues.
Nov 4 - 11:26 AM

Trey Burke (ankle) participated during Wednesday's practice.

Burke sat out Monday's preseason loss to the Knicks, but he should be able to get back out there for Thursday's preseason matchup with the 76ers. However, as John Wall's backup, Burke won't be worth drafting in most leagues.
Oct 12 - 2:10 PM

Trey Burke (ankle) will not play on Monday.

He was limited in practice on Sunday and didn't practice on Saturday. With John Wall (knee) limited to 16 minutes, we might see more Tomas Satoransky handling the ball more.
Oct 10 - 7:59 PM

Trey Burke (sore ankle) was limited at Sunday's practice.

He was able to get up some shots, but he should be considered questionable for Monday's game. John Wall (knees) is nearly 100 percent, so fantasy owners shouldn't waste a pick on Burke outside of very deep leagues.
Oct 9 - 1:01 PM

Trey Burke (sore ankle) did not practice on Saturday.

Burke is likely dealing with some residual soreness, but the Wizards will be cautious with him if he's not 100 percent. John Wall (knees) was able to scrimmage on Saturday, so Burke's fantasy appeal in deeper leagues is quickly fading.
Oct 8 - 1:57 PM

Trey Burke slid into the Wizards' starting lineup on Tuesday in place of John Wall (knees), posting 14 points (5-of-13 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), five assists and two rebounds in 29 minutes.

Burke could have an expanded role while Wall works his way back in the early goings this year, but his long-term outlook is poor -- Wall averaged 36.2 minutes per game last season, giving Burke minimal wiggle-room. Throw in the fact that Burke is a career 38.4 percent shooter, and he should go undrafted outside of very deep leagues.
Oct 4 - 9:55 PM

Trey Burke, Bradley Beal, Otto Porter, Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat will start on Tuesday against the Heat.

The Wizards should get a long look at Burke, who they picked up off the scrap heap from the Jazz. The former Wolverine never really could develop a go-to scoring skill set and his passing never took off either. We'll see if coach Scott Brooks can develop him, but he's not a great option in fantasy for the season. He should be busy on Tuesday, though.
Oct 3 - 2:28 PM

Trey Burke said he finally has an opportunity to be himself with the Wizards.

"Last year I didn’t have the opportunity that I’ll have here. Towards the end of the year, after the deadline, they went their own route," Burke said. "I feel like I’m going to have an opportunity to be myself. I’m with an organization that will allow me to be myself. It’s a better fit for me." With John Wall (knees) limited early on in camp, Burke may have to step up and play significant minutes right out of the gate. He's got career averages of 12.1 points, 4.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.4 treys on 41.3 percent shooting, so there's not much upside here. He's just a short-term option for deep-league owners.
Sep 28 - 2:47 AM

Trey Burke is looking forward to a fresh start with the Wizards after falling out of the rotation in Utah last season.

"It was definitely time for a reset," Burke said. "A lot of the things that happened, I didn’t understand. Just to have an opportunity again, being able to play with an All-Star-caliber point guard in John Wall, I look at it as an opportunity to go deep in the playoffs and win games." Burke should be the primary backup behind John Wall next season, but he likely won't be able to make an impact in standard fantasy leagues while the Wizards are at full strength.
Jul 24 - 10:21 AM

The Wizards officially announced their acquisition of Trey Burke on Thursday.

Wizards' president Ernie Grunfeld said that Burke will serve as John Wall's primary backup, and that he hopes Burke can "flourish" in that role. Burke is just a career 38.4 percent shooter, so while he could benefit from a change of scenery, it's unlikely he can establish himself as a standard league asset stuck in a reserve role in Washington.

Jul 7 - 6:39 PM

The Wizards are finalizing a deal to acquire Trey Burke from the Jazz in exchange for a second-round pick.

The deal makes sense for both teams because Burke fell out of the rotation in Utah and now becomes the backup point guard behind John Wall in Washington. Burke should benefit from a change of scenery, but he still has a lot to prove because he has shot just 38.4 percent from the field in his NBA career and has really struggled on the defensive end. On a side note, this means that the Wizards likely won't re-sign Ramon Sessions.
Jul 3 - 11:41 AM

Utah has reportedly made Trey Burke available via trade.

With George Hill, Dante Exum, Raul Neto and Shelvin Mack all on the roster, the Jazz are absolutely loaded at the point guard position, so it's not at all surprising to see this report. Utah could use an upgrade with regards to their backup small forward, so that's likely something they'll be looking to address should they unload some of their point guards. If the Pistons don't go after a big-name backup point guard, Burke could be an option for them.
