Trey Burke said that he isn't worried about the increased competitition for minutes at point guard next year.
"It's all motivation. Right now, I'm as hungry as I've ever been, to be honest with you," Burke said. "At the point I'm at right now, I'm not worried about certain signings. I'm always a team guy. I've never been not a team player. I've never questioned anything on the team or anything like that and I've always felt like I've worked for what I've gotten. I don't think nothing's been handed to me. I just look at it as another test. A stepping stone. You can use it as motivation going into training camp. Right now, I'm really dedicating myself and, come training camp, I know I'll be prepared, and that's all that matters." Dante Exum is penciled in as the starting PG in Utah right now, so Burke won't be a target outside of deeper leagues unless he win his spot back in training camp. Jul 30 - 3:48 PM

Date:

Trey Burke struggled shooting last season when the shot clock had seven seconds or less remaining.

Burke shot just 35 percent from the field in those situations, including a paltry 32 percent from distance. With Dante Exum now in the fold with his rookie season under him, the 6'6" point guard could start putting additional heat on Burke for playing time. With Alec Burks (shoulder) also returning from surgery, we'd let someone else roll the dice on Burke.

Trey Burke will play for Team World in the NBA Africa Game.

It's part of the NBA's Basketball without Borders Africa event from July 29 through Aug. 1. Burke's Team World will go up against Team Africa in Johannesburg, Africa. He's in the midst of his third NBA offseason and this time he'll be coming off the bench to start the season. Additionally, he might play off the ball more with Alec Burks running the second unit. Burke isn't a great fantasy target.
Jul 23 - 10:21 PM

The Utah Jazz are looking to trade Trey Burke, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

It's unclear exactly what the Jazz are looking for in return, but Genessy reports that Burke would be moved as part of a draft day deal. A Burke trade would open up more minutes for Dante Exum and Rodney Hood, so fantasy owners will want to pay close attention to this news as both of those players could see a boost in value if Burke is moved.
Jun 25 - 1:38 PM

Trey Burke made 1-of-11 from the field for four points against the Rockets during a 117-91 loss on Wednesday, adding two rebounds, four assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

Well, this awful game dropped him to just 36.8 percent from the field in his sophomore season. Burke was once again one of the worst players in the paint this season thanks to making just 39.3 percent of his 321 attempts from there. That's even worse considering he had a 23.7 usage rate this season. He has a lot of work to do this offseason. Unless something crazy happens, he's not someone to target in standard drafts.
Apr 15 - 11:57 PM

Trey Burke (back) will play against the Rockets on Wednesday.

The Jazz could see their position in the lottery change tonight, but they've already ruined their chances as one of the best teams since the break -- they are a top-five team for net rating. Burke is still a risky fantasy option. Bryce Cotton loses some appeal after playing the game of his life.
Apr 15 - 6:36 PM

Trey Burke (back) is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. the Rockets.

The probable tag doesn't necessarily mean much, as he was listed as probable for Monday's game as well but ended up not playing. Owners can expect to get another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround, and if he's unable to go, Dante Exum would get all the run he can handle with Bryce Cotton serving as his primary backup. Cotton went off for 21 points in his last outing, so he'd be worth a look in daily leagues if Burke can't go. Stay tuned.
Apr 14 - 6:23 PM

Trey Burke (back) will not play against the Mavs on Monday.

He was listed as probable for this game, but the Mavs will just keep him out. Dante Exum will log most of the minutes, but he hasn't been involved in the offense much. Expect Bryce Cotton to back up Exum tonight.
Apr 13 - 7:27 PM

Trey Burke (back) is listed as probable for Monday's game against Dallas.

Burke played through the back injury last week before being forced to sit out again, and now he'll be back in the lineup. He's not a recommended fantasy option at this point in the season, especially if his back is limiting how many minutes he can play.
Apr 13 - 1:19 PM

Trey Burke (back) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.

He didn't play on Friday after an aggravation on Wednesday. There's a decent chance Burke is out for the rest of the season. Without Burke, Rodney Hood has looked exceptional in the starting lineup while Bryce Cotton will also get minutes in the teens tonight. Hood is a must-own player right now.
Apr 11 - 3:16 PM

Trey Burke (sore lower back) will not play against the Grizzlies on Friday night.

He had a lower back injury earlier this month, but he was able to play in the last two games. With Burke out, there should be more minutes going to Bryce Cotton. Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles and Dante Exum also benefit.
Apr 10 - 7:48 PM

Trey Burke said that his back was feeling better after he was able to log 20 minutes against the Kings in his return to action on Wednesday, but acknowledged that it's still not 100 percent.

Burke said he's still feeling a bit of pain, but he just wanted to get back on the floor, and there's no reason to think he won't be in uniform Friday vs. the Grizzlies. Burke is good for some points and 3-pointers, but his 37.1 percent shooting from the field is his main drawback. He's more of a deep league asset.
Apr 10 - 8:15 AM

Trey Burke played through his sore back on Wednesday and hit 4-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for 11 points and two rebounds in 21 minutes.

Burke missed a couple games with the injury, but like most of the other big names in Utah, saw just over 20 minutes. He's a FGP killer, but could be useful if you need a scorer over the final week of the season.
Apr 9 - 2:23 AM

Trey Burke (back) went through a full practice on Tuesday, and he is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. the Kings.

Burke has missed the past two games with back spasms, but it sounds like he'll return to action on Wednesday with a favorable matchup against the Kings. Dante Exum won't log quite as many minutes with Burke back in the rotation.
Apr 7 - 2:47 PM

Trey Burke (back) will not play on Sunday, contrary to previous reports.

He was reported to be playing only minutes before this update, and the good news is that Utah doesn't tip-off for another 45 minutes. His absence ensures Dante Exum heavy playing time at PG, and Gordon Hayward should also handle the ball even more often than usual.
