Shabazz Muhammad was excellent in his first start at shooting guard on Friday, scoring 26 points with five boards, five assists and two 3-pointers on 11-of-15 from the field.
The triples were a very nice surprise and he also had a career high in dimes. Muhammad played 38 minutes tonight and he's going to play in the mid-30s most nights going forward. He's not going to be this good, but he should be owned in all standard leagues. Dec 19 - 10:48 PM

Date:

Shabazz Muhammad will start at shooting guard against the Friday against the Celtics.

He is getting the ball a ton and was the primary weapon in the second unit. Muhammad is a ball-dominant player, but he does have 64.9 of his baskets coming off an assist. The scoring makes him worth a look in standard leagues and his owners should just hope he starts adding more stats.
Dec 19 - 6:10 PM

Shabazz Muhammad is expected to get more playing time with the trade of Corey Brewer.

He's played very well and has a superstar-like usage rate of 29.2 over his last seven games. Muhammad has also been playing more time at small forward these days, so that bodes very well for his outlook. He's not going to do much outside of scoring, but he does have two three-steal games in his last four. 'Bazz is better suited for points leagues, but he's worth a look in standards, as well.
Dec 19 - 2:52 PM

According to beat reporter Jerry Zgoda, Flip Saunders has been contemplating inserting Shabazz Muhammad into the starting lineup to add some scoring to start the games.

This is an interesting report, and with trade rumors swirling around Corey Brewer, Muhammad is worth a speculative add in standard leagues. Over the past two weeks, Muhammad is averaging 18.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 69.8 percent from the line (on 6.1 attempts). However, his value would take a hit once Kevin Martin (wrist) returns.
Dec 19 - 12:31 PM

Shabazz Muhammad hit 9-of-17 shots and a 3-pointer for 21 points, four rebounds, zero assists and three steals in Tuesday's loss to Washington.

Muhammad is really firing on all cylinders right now and hurting Corey Brewer in the process. He's averaging 18.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals on 48 percent shooting over his last five games, and while the scoring is great, just beware he's not going to help you in many other areas outside of rebounds and steals. He still looks like a solid pick up though, as long as Kevin Martin is in street clothes after wrist surgery.
Dec 16 - 10:00 PM

Shabazz Muhammad tied his career-high with 28 points in Sunday's tough loss to the Lakers, making 12-of-21 shots with nine rebounds, one assist and one turnover in 27 minutes.

Muhammad's rebounds were one shy of his season high, and anyone lucky enough to start him tonight will happily overlook his lack of assists (one), steals (zero) and blocks (zero). He's been nowhere near standard-league fantasy value this season, and won't play the Lakers every night, so he should stay unowned on the waiver wire.
Dec 14 - 10:12 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is available to play on Friday night against the Thunder.

He should be fine and was probable for this game. Muhammad is really not doing anything expect scoring, so he's going to struggle to hold value in standard leagues.
Dec 12 - 7:06 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is being listed as probable for Friday's game vs. OKC.

Muhammad was able to play through the pain during his last outing, so we'd expect him to be able to give it a go Friday as well. However, he'll have a tough matchup vs. OKC, and given the fact that there will be 24 teams playing on Friday, he doesn't warrant a pickup in standard leagues.
Dec 11 - 4:30 PM

Shabazz Muhammad played through an ankle injury and had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals on 4-of-14 shooting in 27 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Corey Brewer and Andrew Wiggins went off tonight, and look like the guys to own in the absence of Kevin Martin, but Muhammad has also been playing well enough to be given consideration in deep leagues.
Dec 11 - 12:29 AM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) will play on Wednesday night

He should be good to go and will look to add some more points to his season total. Muhammad doesn't do much else, so he's more of a points-league guy than someone for standard leageus.
Dec 10 - 6:53 PM

Shabazz Muhammad was limited by an ankle injury in Monday's loss, finishing the game with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting (6-of-6 FTs), two rebounds and no other stats in 18 minutes.

That Muhammad could score like this when limited is a great sign, but outside of points leagues he's a real liability due to his lack of versatility. We're keeping him on the injury report until we get the all-clear.
Dec 9 - 1:37 AM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is available to play against the Warriors on Monday.

The MRI came back clean on his ankle, but it's unknown how much playing time he'll get tonight. Muhammad isn't in the starting lineup, so there is a little added risk in using him tonight.
Dec 8 - 6:58 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is warming up to play against the Warriors on Monday.

It sounds like he's going to play and he'll look to build off his recent scoring binge. Muhammad isn't really doing much else outside of scoring, so he's not a great fantasy play in standards.
Dec 8 - 6:26 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is planning to get an MRI on Monday, and he's questionable to play vs. the Warriors.

Muhammad has been dealing with the ankle concern for about a week, but it hasn't prevented him from playing over the last few games. With the Timberwolves fairly banged up, Muhammad will do everything possible to be out there, but he's sore and the ankle is a bit swollen. He's best for owners in points leagues since he doesn't do much beyond score.
Dec 8 - 11:47 AM

Shabazz Muhammad scored 20 points with three rebounds and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes against the Spurs on Saturday.

That's three 20-point games in his last five. The problem is that Muhammad averaged just 5.4 boards, 1.2 assists, 0.4 blocks, 0.2 triples and no steals in that span, so it's going to be tough for him to get into the standard league conversation for his lack of diversity. He does have some value in points leagues, though.
