Wolves coach Flip Saunders hopes that Shabazz Muhammad will lose 15 pounds before training camp.
Muhammad is attending a multi-week boot camp run by a former Navy SEAL, so apparently he's on board with Flip's plan. He's listed at 6'6" and 222 pounds but looked out of shape for most of his rookie campaign, and didn't do much in 37 games for Minnesota. He faces stiff competition for minutes once again this season with Andrew Wiggins, Chase Budinger and Shabazz Muhammad all filling out the wing positions. Aug 24 - 3:02 PM

Shabazz Muhammad attended this summer's rookie transition program, which he was sent home from last summer for sneaking a woman into his hotel room.

Last year's No. 14 draft pick had a quiet rookie season in Minnesota, averaging under eight minutes per game in 37 appearances. He recorded a total of six assists, eight steals and one block all season, and he has a long, steep road to fantasy relevance.
Aug 6 - 12:48 PM

Shabazz Muhammad did not play on Friday due to right ankle soreness.

He didn't have the greatest summer league, making just 37.1 percent of his shots on his way to 16.2 points per game. Muhammad had a 24-shot game in the opener back on July 12 and was able to finish strong with a 24-point game on July 17. He still has to add more to his game than just scoring.
Jul 19 - 10:42 AM

Shabazz Muhammad scored a game-high 24 points to go along with three rebounds, one assists, and two steals on Thursday against the Kings.

He shot 7-of-13 from the field as well as 9-11 from the free throw line. Muhammad had a tough rookie campaign, spending most of it in the D-League. He has looked much improved in the Summer League thus far, but needs to prove that he can produce on a consistent basis.
Jul 17 - 7:07 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sore ankle) scored 10 points in Tuesday's ugly defeat in Las Vegas, shooting 3-of-15 from the field with five turnovers in 25 minutes.

Muhammad was also 3-of-5 at the FT line and he added only three rebounds, one assist and one block without any steals. He dropped 27 points in the Wolves' first Summer League game, but consistency isn't his strong suit as Tuesday's game will attest.
Jul 15 - 6:20 PM

Shabazz Muhammad did not play in the second half of Minnesota's Summer League game on Sunday due to ankle soreness.

It's doubtful that Muhammad's injury is serious, but we'll pass along more details as they become available. He racked up 27 points and 11 rebounds in the Wolves' first game in Las Vegas and may carve out a bigger role in his second NBA season, but nothing suggests that he'll be relevant for fantasy owners.
Jul 14 - 1:08 AM

Shabazz Muhammad made 10-of-24 from the field vs. the Mavericks on Saturday for 27 points with 11 boards, two turnovers and two 3-pointers.

He's known more for sneaking girls into dorms than his play on the court, so this was a nice start for him. Muhammad couldn't get much playing time at just 7.8 minutes per game during his rookie season, but he had one bright spot with a 20-point game on Feb. 25. He still has a lot of work to do.
Jul 12 - 9:02 PM

Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders asked Shabazz Muhammad to lose about 15 pounds before the start of the 2013-14 season.

Muhammad was listed at 225 pounds last year and he's reportedly shed 7-8 pounds since the season ended. He played in only 37 games as a rookie but showed signs of life late in the season, shooting 56.4 percent in limited minutes in March and April. He has plenty to prove before emerging as a reliable fantasy option.
Jul 8 - 3:56 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained MCL) will not play in Friday's game against the Rockets.

Muhammad is not expected to play again this season. The No. 14 overall pick in the draft has appeared in just 37 games, averaging 3.9 points in 7.8 minutes.
Apr 11 - 11:03 AM

Shabazz Muhammad (knee) will not play on Wednesday.

The Wolves have a slew of players out and Muhammad is the least likely to make it back this season due to an MCL sprain. He has a lot of work to do in the offseason and hopefully he doesn't get in trouble for hiding girls in his room this summer.
Apr 9 - 7:02 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained MCL) will not play on Tuesday and coach Rick Adelman suggested he may not return this season.

Muhammad said previously that he was aiming to return by the end of the week, but the diagnosis of a sprained MCL makes that very unlikely. He has had a quiet rookie season, averaging 3.9 points on 46.0 percent shooting, with 1.4 rebounds in just eight minutes per game. He also spent some time in the D-League, where he notched 24.5 points per game, and we'll be watching closely to see how his game develops this summer.
Apr 7 - 1:58 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained knee) hopes to return by the end of the week.

There are only nine days left in the season so even if Muhammad is ready to play on Tuesday, which seems unlikely, he'll play a maximum of six more games. With Kevin Martin (heel) and Chase Budinger (ankle) also ailing, the Wolves may be forced to rely on Robbie Hummel and J.J. Barea for the bulk of their production at SG.
Apr 7 - 10:51 AM

Shabazz Muhammad's knee injury will prevent him from playing on Sunday.

Fantasy owners may not even notice his absence, but it's bad news for the Wolves' depth chart with Kevin Martin (foot) already unavailable.
Apr 5 - 6:01 PM

Shabazz Muhammad suffered a knee injury in the first half against the Heat on Friday and is doubtful to return.

The Wolves are going to be really thin on the wing with Kevin Martin (foot) out. Muhammad has turned in a couple nice games while Martin is out, but it doesn't sound like it'll be tonight. He has no fantasy value and we'll provide an update if or when the team will re-evaluate him.
Apr 4 - 8:33 PM

Shabazz Muhammad hit 8-of-13 shots for a career-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes on Tuesday.

He had scored a total of 13 points over his previous four games, so there's not much to be excited about here. His previous career high was 12 points on Feb. 8, and while he's clearly starting to make an impact with the Wolves, Muhammad is a long way from being someone you want to add to your roster.
