Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders asked Shabazz Muhammad to lose about 15 pounds before the start of the 2013-14 season.
Muhammad was listed at 225 pounds last year and he's reportedly shed 7-8 pounds since the season ended. He played in only 37 games as a rookie but showed signs of life late in the season, shooting 56.4 percent in limited minutes in March and April. He has plenty to prove before emerging as a reliable fantasy option. Jul 8 - 3:56 PM

Date:

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained MCL) will not play in Friday's game against the Rockets.

Muhammad is not expected to play again this season. The No. 14 overall pick in the draft has appeared in just 37 games, averaging 3.9 points in 7.8 minutes.
Apr 11 - 11:03 AM

Shabazz Muhammad (knee) will not play on Wednesday.

The Wolves have a slew of players out and Muhammad is the least likely to make it back this season due to an MCL sprain. He has a lot of work to do in the offseason and hopefully he doesn't get in trouble for hiding girls in his room this summer.
Apr 9 - 7:02 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained MCL) will not play on Tuesday and coach Rick Adelman suggested he may not return this season.

Muhammad said previously that he was aiming to return by the end of the week, but the diagnosis of a sprained MCL makes that very unlikely. He has had a quiet rookie season, averaging 3.9 points on 46.0 percent shooting, with 1.4 rebounds in just eight minutes per game. He also spent some time in the D-League, where he notched 24.5 points per game, and we'll be watching closely to see how his game develops this summer.
Apr 7 - 1:58 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (sprained knee) hopes to return by the end of the week.

There are only nine days left in the season so even if Muhammad is ready to play on Tuesday, which seems unlikely, he'll play a maximum of six more games. With Kevin Martin (heel) and Chase Budinger (ankle) also ailing, the Wolves may be forced to rely on Robbie Hummel and J.J. Barea for the bulk of their production at SG.
Apr 7 - 10:51 AM

Shabazz Muhammad's knee injury will prevent him from playing on Sunday.

Fantasy owners may not even notice his absence, but it's bad news for the Wolves' depth chart with Kevin Martin (foot) already unavailable.
Apr 5 - 6:01 PM

Shabazz Muhammad suffered a knee injury in the first half against the Heat on Friday and is doubtful to return.

The Wolves are going to be really thin on the wing with Kevin Martin (foot) out. Muhammad has turned in a couple nice games while Martin is out, but it doesn't sound like it'll be tonight. He has no fantasy value and we'll provide an update if or when the team will re-evaluate him.
Apr 4 - 8:33 PM

Shabazz Muhammad hit 8-of-13 shots for a career-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes on Tuesday.

He had scored a total of 13 points over his previous four games, so there's not much to be excited about here. His previous career high was 12 points on Feb. 8, and while he's clearly starting to make an impact with the Wolves, Muhammad is a long way from being someone you want to add to your roster.
Feb 26 - 12:40 AM

Shabazz Muhammad scored a career-high 12 points against the Blazers on Saturday with two boards and one steal in 17 minutes.

He doubled his previous career high of six in what was obviously his best game. Muhammad was able to get to the basket tonight and attempted some good shots in a losing effort. However, he did enter tonight with a field goal percentage of 32.1 and is still very raw. The rookie can be left on the wire in almost every single league.
Feb 8 - 11:46 PM

The Timberwolves recalled Shabazz Muhammad from the D-League on Monday.

Muhammad averaged 24.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in four appearances with the Iowa Energy. Wolves president Flip Saunders was pleased with what he saw from the rookie but this may not be Muhammad's last trip to the D-League. "We want to send him down for short stints," Saunders said. "We don't want him to be disconnected with what we are trying to do."
Jan 13 - 1:00 PM

Shabazz Muhammad was named to the All-Showcase Team for the NBA D-League.

Muhammad joins Pierre Jackson, Mo Charlo, Jarvis Varnado and Romero Osby on the first unit. He was very effective in his two games in Reno, totaling 46 points, and 18 boards in 49 minutes. Muhammad still has a lot of developing to do and only handing out 27 assists in 32 games at UCLA last year will still be a sore subject. He will make it back up to the Wolves at some point, but season totals of just 12 points, eight boards and no assists on 25.0 percent from the field suggest he's a long way from fantasy value.

Jan 10 - 3:08 PM

Shabazz Muhammad could go to the D-League for Sunday's game against the Iowa Energy.

He's played a grand total of 42 minutes with 12 points on the season, so the move makes sense. Muhammad was an effective scorer at UCLA last year, but he'll have to develop a little before he can earn some consistent playing time.
Jan 3 - 5:21 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) has returned to the active lineup but was a DNP-CD on Saturday.

Muhammad is going to watch and learn from the sidelines for the foreseeable future. Even in Dynasty leagues owners can watch this action from the waiver wire.

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) will be in uniform for Saturday's game against the Rockets.

He was expected to play on Friday, but never saw any playing time even though the Wolves thumped the Nets. Muhammad has played just 20 minutes all season and isn't in the rotation right now.
Sat, Nov 23, 2013 07:28:00 PM

Shabazz Muhammad (ankle) is expected to be available against the Nets on Friday.

Muhammad reportedly showed no signs of his ankle injury during Friday's shootaround and is expected to be available for the first time in five games. Being available and playing are two different things, however, as it is highly unlikely that Muhammad will be anything more than a bench warmer Friday night. The rookie out of UCLA has only played a total of 20 minutes all season and doesn't belong on any fantasy rosters.
