Shabazz Muhammad will re-sign with the Timberwolves, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
There were some rumors floating around that the Lakers were interested in bringing on Muhammad, but ultimately he decided to re-up with the team that drafted him. Muhammad averaged 9.9 points and not much else in 19.4 minutes per contest with the Wolves last season, and he should have a similar workload during his 2017-18 campaign. There's not much here in terms of fantasy hoops. Sep 12 - 3:05 PM

The Lakers reportedly remain interested in free agent Shabazz Muhammad.

We heard late last month that Los Angeles was keeping tabs on Muhammad, who is one of the best players still available on the open market. New Lakers GM Rob Pelinka previously served as Muhammad's agent, so there is a connection. It appears that Muhammad will likely choose between returning to the Timberwolves or heading to Los Angeles. Either way, he won't have much fantasy value heading into next season.

According to Wolves reporter Darren Wolfson, there is "slightly growing optimism" that Minnesota will be able to re-sign Shabazz Muhammad.

The Wolves only have 11 players under contract, but barring a roster move, they can only offer a minimum contract. Muhammad has also drawn interest from the Lakers, but they are unlikely to offer him anything more than a one-year deal because they are trying to keep their books clear for free agency in 2018 when LeBron James and Paul George hit the market. If Muhammad re-signs in Minnesota, his fantasy value would be very limited.

Shabazz Muhammad is considering joining the Lakers, according to beat reporter Eric Pincus.

General manager Rob Pelinka was his former agent before his new role, so maybe that helps the Lakers sway 'Bazz. This report adds the Lakers are also considering other options to add to their roster. Plus, Muhammad also played his college ball at nearby UCLA, which helped him go 14th in the draft.
Aug 31 - 9:33 PM

Head coach Tom Thibodeau confirmed that the Timberwolves are talking to Shabazz Muhammad about potentially returning to Minnesota.

The Wolves currently have only 11 players under contract for next season, which means they have four roster spots to fill. Muhammad, who spent the first four years of his career in Minnesota, is one of the more attractive free agents still on the market. He's averaged 10.8 points, on 47.7 percent shooting, and 3.2 rebounds over the last three seasons. "Bazz has a great relationship with a number of players on the team," said Thibodeau. "I know they would like to have him back. He’s got to make a decision shortly."

The Wolves are trying to convince Shabazz Muhammad to re-sign with them.

The most the Wolves can offer is the minimum, so they are at a disadvantage compared to a number of other teams. Muhammad is 24 years old and could still get better, but his scoring and playing time have decreased in each of the last two seasons.
Aug 12 - 10:29 PM

Shabazz Muhammad is drawing interest from six teams according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.

The six teams are the Hawks, Nets, Bucks, Knicks, Magic and Bulls, so it sounds like the 24-year-old wing still has a strong market. It's also pretty safe to rule out a return to Minnesota after they rescinded their qualifying offer in early July. Muhammad is more of a one-trick pony in fantasy with his scoring ability, so it's hard to see him making a significant impact for standard-league owners anywhere he lands.
Jul 20 - 11:05 AM

Free agent F Shabazz Muhammad is reportedly receiving interest from the Hawks, Nets, Bucks and Knicks.

This report is broad enough that there's no use speculating how Bazz would fit on each team, but it does seem like he'll sign sooner rather than later, especially with cap space having dried up in a hurry.
Jul 12 - 9:13 PM

As expected, the Wolves have rescinded their qualifying offer to Shabazz Muhammad, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Minnesota couldn't afford to have a $4.2 million qualifying offer tying up valuable cap space after trading for Jimmy Butler and agreeing to deal with Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson. They may have also concluded that they wouldn't be able to match incoming offer sheets -- Muhammad has reportedly drawn interest from the Nets.
Jul 2 - 9:09 PM

Shabazz Muhammad's camp is reportedly alerting teams that he'll be an unrestricted free agent upon completion of the Taj Gibson deal.

In order for the Wolves to make the financials work with Gibson, they'll need to renounce their rights to Muhammad, thus making him an unrestricted free agent. So far Muhammad has only been linked to the Nets, but he'll likely receive some more interest around the league once some of the bigger names in free agency come off the board.
Jul 2 - 3:25 PM

The Nets will reportedly pursue Shabazz Muhammad as a restricted free agent this offseason.

Both Minnesota and Brooklyn will have a ton of cap space this offseason, but given Muhammad's skill set, the Timberwolves may let him walk if the Nets come in with a big time offer. Muhammad would provide the Nets with a much-needed scoring punch, so he could potentially have some value in Brooklyn.
Apr 20 - 12:48 PM

Shabazz Muhammad posted 24 points, 11 rebounds and an assist over 32 minutes in Tuesday's 121-107 loss at Golden State.

Muhammad was seeing extended minutes off the bench with the starters dialing it down a bit in a road blowout loss. The 24 points were a season high, but don't expect that type of production on a regular basis. He was averaging just 5.8 points per game over his previous six outings.
Apr 5 - 1:55 AM

Shabazz Muhammad failed to score in 12 minutes vs. the Lakers on Friday, missing all three of his shots from the field with nothing else.

If he's not scoring, he's not helping you. Muhammad was hot in his previous four with 18.5 points per game in that span, but his floor is way too low when his shot isn't falling. It also didn't help that the Wolves used more two-PG lineups. He's strictly a scoring specialist in deeper formats.
Mar 25 - 2:14 AM

Shabazz Muhammad scored 18 points with four rebounds, one steal and two triples vs. the Spurs on Tuesday.

He finished 8-of-15 from the field in 24 minutes, and his workload was safe despite the arrival of Omri Casspi. Muhammad is rolling with 18.5 points per game over his last four outings, but he offers very little to fantasy owners other than scoring. He's a low-end pickup with two games remaining for the Wolves this week.
Mar 22 - 2:37 AM

Shabazz Muhammad scored 20 points in 24 minutes vs. New Orleans on Sunday, making 8-of-13 field goals and 3-of-5 free throws with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Muhammad is shooting the ball well lately, at 51.2 percent in the past two weeks, but he's contributing nothing else to support his fantasy value. Prospective owners should also be aware that the Wolves are close to signing Omri Casspi to fill the void left by Nemanja Bjelica (ankle), which could cut into Bazz's minutes.
