Cody Zeller underwent successful surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Tuesday, and he's expected to miss at least the next six weeks of action.
Frank Kaminsky and Marvin Williams will be picking up the slack in his absence, with Williams offering a bit more upside. Zeller's absence could certainly extend beyond that six-week window, so he's not worth hanging onto in most scenarios. Dec 12 - 5:45 PM

Cody Zeller is set to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Tuesday and will miss the next six weeks of action.

Frank Kaminsky (ankle) will be returning from a two-game absence on Monday, and he figures to be one of the primary beneficiaries while Zeller is on the sidelines, and there will also be more opportunity for Marvin Williams. Zeller was essentially nothing more than a low-end, shot-blocking specialist in deep leagues prior to going down, so there's no incentive to hang onto him through this injury in any format.

Cody Zeller suffered a torn medial meniscus in his left knee and is out indefinitely.

The injury occurred during Wednesday's game and it's awful news for Zeller and the Hornets. We should have a timetable once a course of treatment in decided upon, but Zeller's absence will likely be measured in weeks if not months. Frank Kaminsky (ankle) will get more minutes once he's healthy, Dwight Howard should see a bump, Johnny O'Bryant could crack the rotation, and Charlotte will have to go with small lineups more often until Zeller returns.

Cody Zeller (left knee strain) will not return against the Warriors on Wednesday.

He landed awkwardly and was hobbling for a couple possessions before coming out. If it is a strain, that means it's muscle or tendon related, but he'll likely be re-evaluated tomorrow regardless. With Frank Kaminsky (ankle) also down, Dwight Howard is going to may more as the Hornets go small around him.
Dec 6 - 10:04 PM

Cody Zeller came off the bench for 16 points, nine rebounds and one block in 22 minutes vs. the Wolves on Sunday.

Zeller made 6-of-8 field goals and 4-of-7 free throws tonight, earning minutes as a backup-center when Dwight Howard (13 points, nine boards) was resting. Dwight is fitting in nicely with his new team and as long as he's healthy it's hard to see Zeller returning steady 12-team value.
Nov 5 - 11:15 PM

Cody Zeller (knee) returned to action on Sunday, coming off the bench for six points, six rebounds, one assist and one block in 19 minutes.

Frank Kaminsky (illness) was out of commission tonight, but Zeller should be looking at 20-24 minutes as Dwight Howard's backup. It's not a great spot for fantasy value, but he's still a fringe option in deeper leagues.
Oct 29 - 10:07 PM

Cody Zeller (knee) is available to play on Sunday, as expected.

Zeller's return will be even more crucial for Charlotte if Frank Kaminsky (illness) can't suit up -- he's a game-time decision. As long as Dwight Howard is healthy, however, there's not a lot of upside for Zeller in the frontcourt rotation.
Oct 29 - 4:34 PM

Cody Zeller (knee) is on track to play on Sunday vs. the Magic.

"I had a pretty good workout [Friday] and I feel good today, so yeah," Zeller said after Saturday's practice. "I did sprinting and jumping and it all felt good." There's no word of any restrictions, but with Dwight Howard playing really well the Hornets will be able to work Zeller back in slowly. He's more of a deep-league option as long as Howard is healthy. Johnny O'Bryant could be pushed out of the rotation with Zeller back in action.
Oct 29 - 10:17 AM

Cody Zeller (knee) was able to practice on Saturday and said that he would play Sunday vs. Orlando.

Zeller is ready to return to the lineup after missing each of the Hornets last four games. Johnny O'Bryant served as Dwight Howard's primary backup while Zeller was sidelined, averaging 7.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game over Charlotte's last four contests. O'Bryant will see his minutes dip with Zeller back in the mix.
Oct 28 - 1:39 PM

Coach Steve Clifford confirmed that Cody Zeller (knee) will not play Friday vs. the Rockets.

Zeller is making progress and appears to be inching towards a return, but had already been ruled out of Friday's contest. Dwight Howard, Frank Kaminsky and Johnny O'Bryant will continue to divvy up the extra available minutes.
Oct 27 - 11:19 AM

Cody Zeller said his knee bruise isn't as bad as the one he suffered last season.

"It’s in a spot where it doesn’t hurt at all to stand or walk, or do normal activities," Zeller said. "But they said once I start cutting and playing, it will get it a little more" sore. Coach Steve Clifford said Zeller is probably the closest [injured Hornet] to being cleared to play, but didn't want to put a timetable on it -- he's already listed as out for Friday's game vs. Houston. Until Zeller is back, Dwight Howard will play a few more minutes and Johnny O'Bryant will serve as his backup.
Oct 26 - 9:16 AM

Cody Zeller (right knee) is listed as out for Wednesday against the Nuggets.

Frank Kaminsky has played well and is getting minutes at both forward spots. With Dwight Howard also playing well -- not counting free throws -- the Hornets figure to take it easy on Zeller.
Oct 24 - 4:53 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) will not play on Monday vs. the Bucks.

Dwight Howard is off to a great start in Charlotte, so the Hornets have no need to rush Zeller back. He's just a deep-league option this season as long as Dwight is healthy. If last game was any indication, Johnny O'Bryant will likely get Zeller's minutes on Monday.
Oct 22 - 12:17 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) has been ruled out of Friday's game vs. the Hawks.

Zeller was solid in the season opener, scoring eight points and pulling down nine rebounds in 23 minutes. However, he was unable to escape unscathed. With Zeller sidelined, Dwight Howard, Marvin Williams and Frank Kaminsky will likely be asked to log extra minutes. Johnny O'Bryant may also make his way into the rotation.
Oct 20 - 9:49 AM

Cody Zeller scored 11 points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 25 minutes against the Mavs on Friday.

The Hornets may have to shuffle their forwards a bit with Frank Kaminsky playing all four and Marvin Williams shifting to the three, so there could be minutes available for Zeller behind Dwight Howard. That said, Zeller will have a tough time producing value while Kaminsky and Howard are active.
