Cody Zeller had successful surgery to repair a tendon and remove a bone spur and scar tissue from his right shoulder.
He's expected to need three months to recover from the surgery. Zeller was plagued by his shoulder injury for most of the second half, missing 19 of the final 20 games of the season. He'll look to improve his range as a shooter next season. Zeller may have some extra competition from Noah Vonleh in training camp. Apr 22 - 4:15 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) said he will undergo a small procedure to repair his rotator cuff.

Zeller's estimated timetable is four-to-six weeks, so he should be healed in plenty of time for training camp. The 22-year-old showed improvement in his second season, but his averages of 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks still leave something to be desired for fantasy owners. While Zeller deserves a look in deeper leagues next season, he shouldn't be more than a late-round flier for owners in standard leagues.
Apr 16 - 12:29 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford says Cody Zeller needs to become a 3-point shooter since he's not really much of a threat in post.

"Cody Zeller is ready to start shooting the corner three," Clifford said on Thursday. "If you’re not a post-up threat, you need to be a range-shooting threat." A shoulder injury ended Zeller's season early and he never really became all that effective this season. If he can develop a long-range game he could become another Philadelphia version of Spencer Hawes, who was able to get rebounds, block shots, hit threes and score when he was with the Sixers. Either way, he won't be worth a look in fantasy until late in drafts next season.
Apr 16 - 12:23 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder), Lance Stephenson (toe) and P.J. Hairston (knee) will not play against the Raptors on Wednesday.

This is just a formality, as Zeller never had a realistic shot of playing tonight. We will track his progress closely in the coming weeks, but his shoulder injury is a little concerning. Marvin Williams and Noah Vonleh will both benefit for the short-handed Hornets.

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play against the Rockets on Monday.

He aggravated his shoulder injury last month and has been out since Mar. 20. Zeller's season is likely over. It was Noah Vonleh who was the most impressive Hornet on Sunday, so he's someone to watch tonight. Expect Jason Maxiell to get close to 20 minutes as well.
Apr 13 - 5:18 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play Sunday vs. the Pistons.

Marvin Williams will get another start tonight, but he has been struggling mightily over the past three games, so this is a situation that should be avoided in most leagues.
Apr 12 - 3:10 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play Friday vs. the Hawks.

This will be Zeller's 12th consecutive game on the sidelines, and with no clear return date in sight, he belongs on the waive wire in all leagues. Marvin Williams will continue to start in his absence, but he has really cooled off lately, scoring just one and eight points in his previous two outings.
Apr 10 - 12:27 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder), Al Jefferson (knee) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (ankle) will not play against the Raptors on Wednesday.

All three players are not close to a return and could be out for the rest of the season. The Hornets could also be without Lance Stephenson, so they could be very shorthanded. Marvin Williams and Bismack Biyombo are worth owning in standard leagues.
Apr 8 - 4:44 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. Miami.

This will be Zeller's 10th consecutive game on the sidelines, and it'll again be Marvin Williams in the starting lineup. Zeller still can't effectively raise his arms above his shoulders, so we'll be considering him doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Raptors as well. Williams is worth a look for owners seeking some 3-point shooting, while Zeller can be sent to the wire in all formats.
Apr 7 - 5:08 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) is still unable to effectively raise his arms above his shoulders.

Zeller has missed nine consecutive games with his sprained right shoulder and is likely out until at least Friday's game against the Hawks. With such uncertainty surrounding his return, fantasy owners can feel free to cut bait with Zeller and take a look at de factor starter Marvin Williams.
Apr 7 - 12:53 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) has been ruled our for Saturday's game vs. the 76ers, and head coach Steve Clifford said the earliest he'd be able to return would be Tuesday vs. the Heat.

We'll be considering Zeller questionable for Tuesday's game, which means that Marvin Williams has at least two more games as a starter. Williams has been playing well lately, and he's worth a look in deep leagues for owners seeking some 3-point shooting.
Apr 3 - 5:56 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) has been ruled out for Friday's game vs. the Pacers.

Marvin Williams will draw yet another start on Friday, and he's been playing very well over the Hornet's past three games with averages of 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 three-pointers per game. He's worth a look for owners in deep leagues seeking some 3-point shooting, but with a tough matchup against the Pacers, he makes for a very risky option in daily leagues.
Apr 3 - 10:11 AM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play vs. the Pistons on Wednesday.

Zeller has been making progress, but the Hornets won't make the same mistake of rushing him back too soon. Zeller can be dropped in most leagues, while Marvin Williams will continue to start and is worth owning for anyone in need of 3-pointers.
Apr 1 - 11:51 AM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play against the Celtics on Monday.

There was hope he could play today, but he's probably dealing with too much discomfort with shooting the ball. Zeller is not worth owning in most leagues. Marvin Williams will start and is worth owning in standard leagues. Expect Bismack Biyombo and Jason Maxiell to also step up.
Mar 30 - 6:10 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) is a game-time decision to play against the Celtics on Monday.

He couldn't put up shots with his right arm on Saturday, so he's likely not close to 100 percent. If he does play, he's unlikely to be involved in the offense and isn't worth owning in standard leagues right now. Marvin Williams is worth a look in all leagues for his four-game schedule.
