Cody Zeller (knee) will be available to play Wednesday vs. the Bucks.
Zeller will more than likely be brought off the bench behind Roy Hibbert in an effort to limit his minutes. He's not a fantasy option anywhere. Oct 26 - 12:15 PM

Cody Zeller (bruised right knee) will be available for the season opener, barring a setback.

It sounds like Zeller is making progress and appears to be on track to play; however, it is unknown if he will be on a minutes restriction.
Oct 25 - 12:09 PM

Cody Zeller (bruised right knee) was a full participant in Sunday's practice.

He's questionable for opening night, but coach Steve Clifford has already conceded that Zeller will be very limited upon his return due to a lack of conditioning. Roy Hibbert will almost certainly start on opening night, but there are no guarantees he can keep the job once Zeller gets up to speed.
Oct 23 - 8:13 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford conceded that Cody Zeller (bruised knee) might not be able to play much early in the regular season.

"Bottom line is he’s not going to be ready. He hasn’t done enough," Clifford said. "You couldn’t, with any realistic expectation, think that he could possibly play much, if at all. He’s had no preseason, so there’s no way he could be ready to play." Zeller's lingering bone bruise leaves Roy Hibbert as the opening night starter, with Spencer Hawes and Frank Kaminsky as backups.
Oct 19 - 7:51 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game vs. the Heat.

Zeller recently returned to practice without any setbacks, but the team is wisely being cautious with an injury that has lingered throughout the offseason. Considering Zeller's lack of on-court time this preseason, Roy Hibbert is poised to open the season as Charlotte's starting center.
Oct 19 - 7:17 PM

Cody Zeller (knee) will not play vs. the Bulls on Monday.

He was cleared for contact last week and returned to practice on Thursday, but the Hornets aren't ready to throw him out there yet. Zeller is likely looking at a timeshare with Roy Hibbert, so we're not excited about his outlook.
Oct 17 - 9:12 AM

Cody Zeller said he is encouraged after participating in his second practice in a row on Thursday.

"It’s encouraging [the knee] didn’t get sore or swell up," Zeller said. "I actually felt better today than yesterday as far as getting back into the flow." It sounds like he has a chance to play in some preseason action, but a potential timeshare with Roy Hibbert at the five severely limits his fantasy outlook. For what it's worth, Zeller will not participate in the contact portions of Friday's practice as a precaution.
Oct 14 - 10:12 AM

Cody Zeller (right knee bruise) returned to practice on Thursday.

Zeller was present at Wednesday's practice and was able to take things a step further and participate on Thursday. The Hornets have three more preseason games, so Zeller should get a chance to get some game action in before the regular season starts. Playing in a crowded frontcourt, Zeller doesn't have much fantasy value beyond deeper leagues at the moment.
Oct 13 - 1:04 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) has been cleared for contact.

Zeller was present during Wednesday morning's practice, but it's unclear exactly how much he participated. Still, this is a very positive report, and with a little under two weeks to go before opening night, Zeller should have enough time to get himself ready. As for fantasy hoops, Zeller will likely be splitting minutes with Roy Hibbert at the five-spot this season, so he's an unattractive target in most settings.
Oct 12 - 2:22 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) will not play on Monday vs. the Wolves.

We haven't heard any positive reports on Zeller for a while and he should be considered questionable for the season opener. He was expected to compete with Roy Hibbert for the starting center role, but Hibbert likely has the edge at this point. Zeller isn't a standard-league target.
Oct 10 - 11:23 AM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) will not play on Saturday vs. the Celtics.

Zeller isn't close to contact workouts and at this point we are beginning to wonder about his availability for the regular season opener. Given all of the work Roy Hibbert has been getting with the starting unit, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hibbert open the campaign with the first five while Zeller comes off the bench.
Oct 8 - 2:17 PM

Cody Zeller (bruised right knee) isn't even doing non-contact workouts, and coach Steve Clifford said he has "a long way to go."

Zeller hurt himself during the playoffs and he aggravated the injury while working out with the Team USA Select Team this summer. The fact that he's not even doing non-contact workouts is worrisome, and we're forced to consider him questionable for the season opener. Roy Hibbert will serve as the Hornets' default starting center until Zeller is healthy enough to compete for the job.
Oct 5 - 8:07 PM

Cody Zeller (right knee bone bruise) did not participate during Wednesday's practice.

Zeller is still getting over an injury that he suffered during Charlotte's postseason run last season, but he still has a full three weeks to rest up for the regular-season opener, so he should be fine. As for fantasy hoops, Zeller will likely be splitting minutes with Roy Hibbert this season, making him an undesirable target in most settings.
Oct 5 - 1:39 PM

Cody Zeller (knee) will not play on Monday vs. the Mavericks.

He's dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee and has been limited in training camp. Until we hear otherwise, we are still expecting Zeller to be ready for the season opener. However, he could be locked into a timeshare with Roy Hibbert, so his fantasy outlook isn't great.
Oct 2 - 12:43 PM

Cody Zeller (bone bruise in right knee) was withheld from the contact portions of Tuesday's practice.

Zeller suffered the bone bruise back in April during Charlotte's postseason run, but it would be surprising to see this issue linger into the regular season. Zeller will likely be locked into a timeshare at the five-spot with Roy Hibbert, making him an unattractive asset in most formats.
