Cody Zeller scored 11 points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 25 minutes against the Mavs on Friday.
The Hornets may have to shuffle their forwards a bit with Frank Kaminsky playing all four and Marvin Williams shifting to the three, so there could be minutes available for Zeller behind Dwight Howard. That said, Zeller will have a tough time producing value while Kaminsky and Howard are active. Oct 13 - 8:32 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Cody Zeller is "going to be a major, major part of things."

Zeller is going to come off the bench behind Dwight Howard, but he sees it as more of an opportunity rather than a demotion. Unfortunately, this looks like a potential timeshare and should lower the ceiling for both players. As for his offseason, Zeller has added 10 pounds to his frame and is hoping that it helps him stay on the floor after missing 20 games last season.

Coach Steve Clifford said Cody Zeller will come off the bench this season behind Dwight Howard.

He was one of Charlotte's best players last season on both ends, as the Hornets were 33-29 with Zeller in the lineup and 3-17 with him on the sidelines. However, he had trouble staying healthy and the Hornets were often killed on the glass. It's possible that this position battle becomes a timeshare, but right now it's hard to get excited about Zeller's outlook.
Sep 10 - 1:18 PM

Coach Steve Clifford told Cody Zeller he is still a core part of the Hornets.

Zeller appeared to take it in stride and joked he doesn't have to play Dwight Howard four times per season anymore. Encouraging quote aside, the Hornets have liked Howard for over a year and he's the heavy favorite to start. Additionally, the Hornets were playing Frank Kaminsky at the five a lot later in the year, so that lineup option may drop slightly. This also affects Marvin Williams slightly, too.
Jun 21 - 3:23 PM

Cody Zeller posted a skeletal double-double on Tuesday with 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding one assist and one block in 32 minutes.

Zeller has started 54 games this season but this was only his sixth double-double. Those two categories don't capture his fantasy value, however, since he's also averaged 1.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and a mere 1.1 turnovers this season, while shooting 57.8 percent from the field. The Hornets are two games out of the No. 8 seed, so Zeller should maintain a big role down the stretch.
Apr 5 - 12:13 AM

Cody Zeller fouled out of Wednesday's game without scoring a single point in 27 minutes.

Zeller grabbed six rebounds with four assists and one block, but overall it was a flop for fantasy purposes -- he's been on a steals binge lately, but didn't have any of those tonight, either. Zeller's been fabulous for the past few weeks, so most owners should simply shrug off this random dud.
Mar 29 - 11:59 PM

Cody Zeller hit all three of his shots on Tuesday, but finished with just eight points, one rebound, two steals and a block in 29 minutes of a 118-108 loss to the Bucks.

Zeller had scored in double figures in three straight games and was putting up solid numbers over his last several, but just sort of disappeared tonight. He's shooting it lights-out right now and should bounce back in his next game, as he came in averaging 15.3 points and 8.0 rebounds on 19-of-25 shooting over his previous three games.
Mar 28 - 9:42 PM

Cody Zeller double-doubled vs. the Cavaliers on Friday with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

He hit all six of his shots from the field and finished 3-of-7 from the line with three assists and two blocks in 32 minutes. He was shooting 65.8 percent from the line prior to Friday and that's his only glaring weakness right now, so he's worth owning for his boards, blocks and FG percentage. The Hornets also play four times next week after Sunday's game vs. the Suns.
Mar 24 - 10:26 PM

Cody Zeller got into some foul trouble on Monday vs. the Hawks, finishing with eight points and five rebounds.

He picked up five fouls and only lasted 22 minutes, but feel free to blame it on the matchup with Dwight Howard. This dud comes on the heels of a 19-point game on Saturday with five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in 33 minutes, so his owners should give him a chance to redeem himself on Wednesday vs. the Magic.
Mar 20 - 10:01 PM

Cody Zeller made 8-of-10 from the field for 19 points with five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in 33 minutes against the Wizards on Saturday.

It wasn't all dunks and Zeller had some really nice drives to the basket in this win. The scoring is a big surprise with this game as his first over 15 points since Jan. 13, and also those four steals match his season high. Zeller has been a low-ceiling, high-floor guy in fantasy, so he should be able to flirt with top-100 value going forward. Frank Kaminsky's move to the five shouldn't hurt him too much.
Mar 18 - 10:38 PM

Cody Zeller scored 11 points with seven rebounds on Monday vs. the Bulls.

Frank Kaminsky returned to action, but he only played 24 minutes compared to 34 for Zeller. He shot 4-of-10 from the field and added two assists, one steal and two blocks, and it was encouraging that the Hornets used a three-man rotation at the four and five. Maybe that changes when Nicolas Batum (migraine) is back, but Zeller is worth deploying in standard leagues until further notice. He only has two more games this week, though.
Mar 13 - 11:01 PM

Cody Zeller scored six points with nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 40 minutes against the Pelicans on Saturday.

He's going to be seeing Anthony Davis scoring on him in his dreams. On the bright side, the quad contusion issue is obviously behind him and it certainly helps his only backup is Christian Wood. There was some hope Frank Kaminsky (shoulder) could return next week and Zeller does only have three games for the upcoming Monday-to-Sunday week, so he's not the strongest start in weekly. He should still be owned in standard leagues with all that playing time and a fairly high floor.
Mar 11 - 10:13 PM

Cody Zeller scored six points with seven rebounds, three assists and one block in 31 minutes against the Magic on Friday.

He played 17.4 minutes in the first half, so coach Steve Clifford likely had Zeller penciled in for about 35 minutes tonight. Zeller's backup is Christian Wood, so Clifford probably doesn't want to turn to the inexperienced guy too much -- Wood was good today. Zeller is a fine, low-upside guy to own in standard leagues.
Mar 10 - 10:03 PM

Cody Zeller finished Wednesday's road loss with eight points on 4-of-8 shooting, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a game-high 42 minutes of action.

Frank Kaminsky (shoulder) is out for at least a few more days, and we've yet to hear the results of Miles Plumlee's (calf) re-evaluation, which is supposed to take place any day now. Johnny O'Bryant (right ankle sprain) also left tonight, and if he misses any time Zeller could find himself playing 40+ minutes again on Friday.
Mar 8 - 11:06 PM

Cody Zeller double-doubled in Monday's win over the Pacers, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Zeller shot 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line in 34 minutes with two assists and two steals. This was his best game since he returned from his quad injury and he looked very spry, grabbing five of his boards on the offensive glass. He's worth picking up as a low-end big in standard leagues, especially while Frank Kaminsky (shoulder) is on the shelf.
