Cody Zeller double-doubled with 16 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Clippers on Sunday.
With Marvin Williams set to play more minutes at the three, that should open up some playing time for Zeller up front along with Frank Kaminsky. Zeller would likely need Al Jefferson to miss time in order to get on the map for standard leagues. Oct 11 - 3:56 AM

Cody Zeller connected on all three of his shot attempts (including two 3-pointers) during Sunday's preseason win over Miami, scoring eight points with five boards, one assist, one steal and one turnover over 17 minutes.

Head coach Steve Clifford made it clear to Zeller that he wanted him to expand his range, so tonight's outing can certainly be viewed as a positive for Zeller. However, he's never been a guy that could really fill up the stat sheet, and he'll have Frank Kaminsky nipping at his heels for playing time this season, meaning he's not someone that should be targeted in most leagues.
Oct 4 - 9:21 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) scored 10 points with five boards, two assists and two steals in 23 minutes.

Zeller made all three of his shots from the field, but he finished just 4-of-9 from the charity stripe. Frank Kaminsky played just 10 minutes, but the Hornets are more than likely just experimenting with different rotations and nothing is set in stone by any means. For now, Kaminsky is still the power forward to own in Charlotte, but things could change by the end of the preseason.
Oct 4 - 11:41 AM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford has not decided who will start at power forward this season.

Cody Zeller started 45 games last year but he didn't exactly lock up the job, averaging 7.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. Frank Kaminsky could win the position battle with a strong training camp and he's a more attractive fantasy target if you're in need of a final-round PF.
Sep 25 - 1:54 PM

Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said that he'd like for Cody Zeller (shoulder) to develop a 3-point shot this offseason.

"He doesn’t have to shoot 35 percent from 3. But if he shoots 32 percent it opens up his game," said Clifford of Zeller. Zeller underwent shoulder surgery this offseason, but reports up to this point have been positive, and it's looking like he'll be 100 percent for training camp. That being said, the Hornets drafted Frank Kaminsky, traded for Tyler Hansbrough, and still have Marvin Williams on the roster, so you could say there's a logjam at the power forward position. Zeller can safely be avoided on draft day in most leagues.
Sep 16 - 10:44 AM

Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said that Cody Zeller's rehab from shoulder surgery has gone well and that he has been working on his shooting.

"He did a great job -- everything he could have done with the rehab," Clifford said. "He’s been on the floor for the last seven weeks, doing a lot of shooting. He’s back to the same weight he was after losing some weight with the injury." Zeller appears to be on track to be 100 percent for training camp, and he will be eager to prove himself after a mildly disappointing 2014-15 campaign in which he averaged 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.8 blocks. The Hornets brought in Frank Kaminsky who could potentially start right out of the gate, so there is no real reason to draft Zeller in standard leagues.
Aug 29 - 1:25 PM

The Charlotte Hornets have reportedly discussed trades involving Cody Zeller.

This isn't a huge surprise as the Hornets are committed to giving Frank Kaminsky every opportunity to succeed after taking him with the ninth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Zeller would have to fall into the perfect situation to provide any fantasy value in standard leagues and he'll remain more of a deep league option unless that happens.

The Hornets are shopping Cody Zeller for wing players, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Additionally, the Hornets could look at Frank Kaminsky at No. 9 in the draft. Zeller had a nice run in January, but he really fell apart down the stretch. He is also recovering from a shoulder injury. The Hornets won't get much back for Zeller.
Jun 24 - 4:56 PM

Hornets general manager Rich Cho said that Cody Zeller (shoulder) is making good progress and that he should be able to start shooting in a couple of weeks.

Zeller had surgery on his shoulder back in late April, and his initial timetable was slated for three months. The fact that he will be shooting in a couple of weeks is obviously good news, and he is expected to be cleared for full activity by the end of July. Noah Vonleh showed some life towards the end of the 2014-15 season and Marvin Williams is still hanging around, so Zeller has plenty of competition for minutes at power forward next season.
Jun 18 - 11:22 AM

Cody Zeller had successful surgery to repair a tendon and remove a bone spur and scar tissue from his right shoulder.

He's expected to need three months to recover from the surgery. Zeller was plagued by his shoulder injury for most of the second half, missing 19 of the final 20 games of the season. He'll look to improve his range as a shooter next season. Zeller may have some extra competition from Noah Vonleh in training camp.
Apr 22 - 4:15 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) said he will undergo a small procedure to repair his rotator cuff.

Zeller's estimated timetable is four-to-six weeks, so he should be healed in plenty of time for training camp. The 22-year-old showed improvement in his second season, but his averages of 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks still leave something to be desired for fantasy owners. While Zeller deserves a look in deeper leagues next season, he shouldn't be more than a late-round flier for owners in standard leagues.
Apr 16 - 12:29 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford says Cody Zeller needs to become a 3-point shooter since he's not really much of a threat in post.

"Cody Zeller is ready to start shooting the corner three," Clifford said on Thursday. "If you’re not a post-up threat, you need to be a range-shooting threat." A shoulder injury ended Zeller's season early and he never really became all that effective this season. If he can develop a long-range game he could become another Philadelphia version of Spencer Hawes, who was able to get rebounds, block shots, hit threes and score when he was with the Sixers. Either way, he won't be worth a look in fantasy until late in drafts next season.
Apr 16 - 12:23 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder), Lance Stephenson (toe) and P.J. Hairston (knee) will not play against the Raptors on Wednesday.

This is just a formality, as Zeller never had a realistic shot of playing tonight. We will track his progress closely in the coming weeks, but his shoulder injury is a little concerning. Marvin Williams and Noah Vonleh will both benefit for the short-handed Hornets.

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play against the Rockets on Monday.

He aggravated his shoulder injury last month and has been out since Mar. 20. Zeller's season is likely over. It was Noah Vonleh who was the most impressive Hornet on Sunday, so he's someone to watch tonight. Expect Jason Maxiell to get close to 20 minutes as well.
Apr 13 - 5:18 PM

Cody Zeller (shoulder) will not play Sunday vs. the Pistons.

Marvin Williams will get another start tonight, but he has been struggling mightily over the past three games, so this is a situation that should be avoided in most leagues.
