Rudy Gobert and the Jazz will postpone extension talk until after the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Gobert is set to become a restricted free agent after the 2016-17 season, but will focus on playing for Team France in Brazil before continuing contract talks with the Jazz. It seems unlikely that the Jazz won't find a way to keep the 24-year-old, and fantasy owners can expect him to continue to again be a dominant force in the paint next season. Jul 12 - 9:36 AM

Rudy Gobert will play for France in the Olympics.

He wasn't with the French team during qualifiers, but he'll join them in Rio. Gobert has come a long way since the FIBA competition two years ago, so it'll be interesting to see how he impacts the game. Expect him to be one of the leaders in blocks and boards.
Jul 11 - 9:08 PM

Rudy Gobert would like to remain with the Jazz.

Gobert is "hopeful" that his agent and the organization can work out an extension before the season begins, but it's not the end of the world if that doesn't happen. "I want to stay with the Jazz," Gobert said. "I like the team we’re building. I like everything we’re doing here. I don’t have no reason to go. We’ll see." As an aside, Gobert is currently noncommittal about playing for France in the Olympics, but he hopes to make a decision within the next few days. Instead of participating in the Qualifying Tournament, Gobert worked on his strength and provided ample time for his injured ankle to heal. "I’m way stronger than I was and I feel good. That’s the most important."
Jul 11 - 11:10 AM

According to French sports publication L'Equipe, Rudy Gobert's agent is in Utah for contract extension negotiations.

The Jazz will obviously want to keep him off the market and they're very high on the big man, but it may take a max deal to keep him after seeing some of the contracts being handed out in free agency. The Jazz have plenty of time to negotiate a deal, but Gobert's agent believes that this could be a quick process. Gobert was never really 100 percent last season and still averaged 9.1 points, 11.0 boards and 2.2 blocks, so he will be a bounce-back candidate in 2016-17.

Rudy Gobert won't play for France during the qualifying tournament for the Olympics this summer.

"This season I had several injuries, so Jazz want me to stay in Salt Lake in June to work on my body," Gobert said. He did add that he will play in Rio if France qualifies, but it makes sense for the big man to get as much rest as possible after battling knee and ankle issues this season. He will be a bounce-back candidate for the 2016-17 campaign.

Rudy Gobert doesn't expect to play for France during the qualifying tournament for the Olympics.

Gobert would want to join the team if they qualify for the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro this summer, but it sounds like he'll take it easy for the next few months. He finished the season with a sprained right ankle that forced him to use crutches and wear a walking boot, but he has copious time to recover during the offseason.
Apr 14 - 3:26 PM

Rudy Gobert (sprained right ankle) is not traveling with the Jazz for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers.

This obviously rules him out for the last game of the regular season, which isn't really a surprise because he was wearing a walking boot and using crutches after Monday's game vs. Dallas. Derrick Favors will likely shift to center on Wednesday, meaning Trey Lyles and Trevor Booker will both see more minutes at the four. Favors is a must-start option and Lyles is worth a long look too.
Apr 12 - 7:57 PM

Rudy Gobert (sprained right ankle) left the arena in a walking boot on Monday.

Gobert's status is in question for Wednesday's season finale against the Lakers after spraining his ankle during Monday's loss to the Mavericks. We'll keep an eye on his status for Wednesday's game after shootaround, but we're likely looking at a game-time decision as the Jazz attempt to clinch a playoff spot.
Apr 12 - 9:46 AM

Rudy Gobert (right ankle sprain) will not return to Monday's game vs. the Mavericks.

Derrick Favors (knee) started the second half in his place and will now have to play more even though he's dealing with soreness in his knee. Gobert rolled his ankle pretty good and was in a lot of pain, and it's not a good sign that he wasn't able to return in a must-win game. He finished with two points, six boards and two assists. For what it's worth, Gobert was seen after the game using crutches.
Apr 11 - 10:30 PM

Rudy Gobert (ankle) is questionable to return to Monday's game vs. Dallas.

He suffered a right ankle sprain and was in a lot of pain. This is a must-win game for the Jazz, so hopefully he will able to return. If not, Derrick Favors (knee) will have to play more even though he isn't 100 percent.
Apr 11 - 10:04 PM

Rudy Gobert blocked six shots to go along with 16 points and 14 rebounds in an easy win vs. the Nuggets on Sunday, making 5-of-7 FGs and 6-of-11 FTs in 38 minutes.

Rudy fell one block shy of his season high, which he set back on Nov. 30, and the matchup was a big reason for his success -- the Nuggets have been blocked 6.3 times per game this season, easily the highest mark in the league. Gobert didn't have the massive campaign his owners hoped for, but he's still averaging career highs in points (9.1), rebounds (11.0) and assists (1.5), with a respectable 2.2 blocks and 0.8 steals.
Apr 10 - 7:40 PM

Rudy Gobert played like garbage during the Jazz' 102-99 overtime loss to the Clippers' B-squad on Friday, registering just seven points, seven boards, one assist, one turnover and zero defensive statistics through 24 minutes of action.

Gobert was abused by a guy named Cole Aldrich in this one, and he just hasn't performed as advertised this season. Even when punting away free throws, Gobert has only been a seventh-round guy in 9-cat leagues since the break with averages of 7.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 1.8 swats per contest on 49.6 percent shooting. That's the opposite of elite.
Apr 9 - 3:21 AM

Rudy Gobert had four points, 10 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Tuesday's loss to the Spurs.

Gobert came in hot but struggled against the tough D of the Spurs tonight. Hopefully he gets back on track in the next one.
Apr 6 - 12:58 AM

Rudy Gobert scored 11 points with 18 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 38 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday.

He's back to putting up numbers with an eight-point, 19-board game coming on Monday. Gobert hasn't been up to the high standards he set from last year, but maybe he can have a big finish as the Jazz fight for a playoff spot. Keep him rolling.
Mar 31 - 12:01 AM

Rudy Gobert finally turned in a nice line against the Lakers on Monday with eight points, 19 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 28 minutes.

He did not turn the ball over and nothing cures a cold spell like the Lakers frontcourt. Gobert has said his knee injury hasn't been the problem for his dip in production. He might be able to put together a big week with four games in favorable matchups.
