Rudy Gobert didn't bring much to the stat sheet during Sunday's 100-97 loss to Team USA, scoring just six points on 3-of-5 shooting to go with five boards and two turnovers in 18 minutes.
As per usual, Gobert did some solid work on defense, but failed to bring much of anything on the offensive end. Gobert's offensive struggles and poor free throw shooting really weigh his value down in fantasy hoops, and he only managed to produce 15th-round value in standard 9-cat leagues after the break this past season with averages of 7.8 points, 11.5 boards, 1.9 swats and 2.0 turnovers per game. He should improve during his fourth NBA season, but he'll be a somewhat risky late-middle round target. Aug 14 - 3:54 PM

Rudy Gobert scored three points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 23 minutes against Serbia on Wednesday.

While the stat line is ugly, the French were at their best while Gobert was out there. He had a team-high plus-16 in his playing time thanks to protecting the paint against the slashing Serbian guards. Gobert's offense is still a major project, but his blocks and boards could make him a nice post-hype target in fantasy drafts.

Rudy Gobert blocked five shots against China on Monday, adding 10 points, eight rebounds and three turnovers in 20 minutes.

He was awesome on the defense end with his paint protection. On the other side of things, Gobert's offensive game still hasn't blossomed after a slight regression last NBA season. He's a possible bounce-back candidate in his age-24 season.

Rudy Gobert turned in an awful game against the Australians on Saturday, scoring five points with seven rebounds, one steal, three blocks and three turnovers.

It's not a bad stat line, but the French defense was a complete disaster with breakdown after breakdown. Gobert has looked really good in international competition before, so expect him to turn it around the next time out. He's still an attractive fantasy target after a disappointing 2015-16 season.
Aug 6 - 3:07 PM

Rudy Gobert and the Jazz will postpone extension talk until after the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Gobert is set to become a restricted free agent after the 2016-17 season, but will focus on playing for Team France in Brazil before continuing contract talks with the Jazz. It seems unlikely that the Jazz won't find a way to keep the 24-year-old, and fantasy owners can expect him to continue to again be a dominant force in the paint next season.

Rudy Gobert will play for France in the Olympics.

He wasn't with the French team during qualifiers, but he'll join them in Rio. Gobert has come a long way since the FIBA competition two years ago, so it'll be interesting to see how he impacts the game. Expect him to be one of the leaders in blocks and boards.
Jul 11 - 9:08 PM

Rudy Gobert would like to remain with the Jazz.

Gobert is "hopeful" that his agent and the organization can work out an extension before the season begins, but it's not the end of the world if that doesn't happen. "I want to stay with the Jazz," Gobert said. "I like the team we’re building. I like everything we’re doing here. I don’t have no reason to go. We’ll see." As an aside, Gobert is currently noncommittal about playing for France in the Olympics, but he hopes to make a decision within the next few days. Instead of participating in the Qualifying Tournament, Gobert worked on his strength and provided ample time for his injured ankle to heal. "I’m way stronger than I was and I feel good. That’s the most important."
Jul 11 - 11:10 AM

According to French sports publication L'Equipe, Rudy Gobert's agent is in Utah for contract extension negotiations.

The Jazz will obviously want to keep him off the market and they're very high on the big man, but it may take a max deal to keep him after seeing some of the contracts being handed out in free agency. The Jazz have plenty of time to negotiate a deal, but Gobert's agent believes that this could be a quick process. Gobert was never really 100 percent last season and still averaged 9.1 points, 11.0 boards and 2.2 blocks, so he will be a bounce-back candidate in 2016-17.
Jul 3 - 11:14 AM

Rudy Gobert won't play for France during the qualifying tournament for the Olympics this summer.

"This season I had several injuries, so Jazz want me to stay in Salt Lake in June to work on my body," Gobert said. He did add that he will play in Rio if France qualifies, but it makes sense for the big man to get as much rest as possible after battling knee and ankle issues this season. He will be a bounce-back candidate for the 2016-17 campaign.

Rudy Gobert doesn't expect to play for France during the qualifying tournament for the Olympics.

Gobert would want to join the team if they qualify for the Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro this summer, but it sounds like he'll take it easy for the next few months. He finished the season with a sprained right ankle that forced him to use crutches and wear a walking boot, but he has copious time to recover during the offseason.
Apr 14 - 3:26 PM

Rudy Gobert (sprained right ankle) is not traveling with the Jazz for Wednesday's game vs. the Lakers.

This obviously rules him out for the last game of the regular season, which isn't really a surprise because he was wearing a walking boot and using crutches after Monday's game vs. Dallas. Derrick Favors will likely shift to center on Wednesday, meaning Trey Lyles and Trevor Booker will both see more minutes at the four. Favors is a must-start option and Lyles is worth a long look too.
Apr 12 - 7:57 PM

Rudy Gobert (sprained right ankle) left the arena in a walking boot on Monday.

Gobert's status is in question for Wednesday's season finale against the Lakers after spraining his ankle during Monday's loss to the Mavericks. We'll keep an eye on his status for Wednesday's game after shootaround, but we're likely looking at a game-time decision as the Jazz attempt to clinch a playoff spot.
Apr 12 - 9:46 AM

Rudy Gobert (right ankle sprain) will not return to Monday's game vs. the Mavericks.

Derrick Favors (knee) started the second half in his place and will now have to play more even though he's dealing with soreness in his knee. Gobert rolled his ankle pretty good and was in a lot of pain, and it's not a good sign that he wasn't able to return in a must-win game. He finished with two points, six boards and two assists. For what it's worth, Gobert was seen after the game using crutches.
Apr 11 - 10:30 PM

Rudy Gobert (ankle) is questionable to return to Monday's game vs. Dallas.

He suffered a right ankle sprain and was in a lot of pain. This is a must-win game for the Jazz, so hopefully he will able to return. If not, Derrick Favors (knee) will have to play more even though he isn't 100 percent.
Apr 11 - 10:04 PM

Rudy Gobert blocked six shots to go along with 16 points and 14 rebounds in an easy win vs. the Nuggets on Sunday, making 5-of-7 FGs and 6-of-11 FTs in 38 minutes.

Rudy fell one block shy of his season high, which he set back on Nov. 30, and the matchup was a big reason for his success -- the Nuggets have been blocked 6.3 times per game this season, easily the highest mark in the league. Gobert didn't have the massive campaign his owners hoped for, but he's still averaging career highs in points (9.1), rebounds (11.0) and assists (1.5), with a respectable 2.2 blocks and 0.8 steals.
