Rudy Gobert said he's ready to contribute for the Jazz this season.
"I feel way more confident than I did last season," Gobert said. "I feel like I can help my team win. I feel like I can make a defensive impact, and help the team maintain" He had a fantastic offseason and is a lock for the rotation. Despite his upside in blocks, field goal percentage and boards, his issues at the free throw line keep him from standard-league consideration right now. Sep 23 - 7:22 PM

Rudy Gobert made 72.7 percent of his attempts from the field at the FIBA World Cup.

He played well over a few games with the win over Spain as the headliner, but he was in foul trouble in the bronze medal game on Saturday and had 6.3 fouls per 36 minutes over the whole tournament. Foul trouble has been a major problem for Gobert, but he kept those issues in check at Las Vegas Summer League. He's done a terrific job rebounding the ball all summer and will have a chance for minutes with the Jazz this season. Fantasy owners in standard leagues still can't draft him due to his horrible free throw shooting.
Sep 14 - 9:37 AM

Rudy Gobert didn't do much as France was upset by Serbia, scoring four points, to go along with five rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.

Gobert is going to be fighting for minutes behind Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors, and with those guys healthy, he's not going to be worth owning in standard leagues.
Sep 12 - 6:21 PM

Rudy Gobert said his performance during Wednesday's FIBA World Cup of Basketball win over Spain was the "best game of his life."

Gobert pulled in a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with five points, one steal, and one block as Les Bleus moved on to face Serbia in Friday's semi-final. The 7'2" 22-year-old has some development ahead of him before he can help fantasy owners, but he's only an Enes Kanter or Derrick Favors injury away from seeing an increase in minutes that could lead to deep league value.
Sep 11 - 11:04 AM

Rudy Gobert grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in France's win over Spain in the FIBA World Cup.

Gobert added five points, one block, and one steal to his stat line as well. He flashed the potential that has made him a developmental project with the Utah Jazz, challenging shots at the rim and crashing the boards. He is still a raw prospect, but if Enes Kanter has another bad year for Utah, perhaps those minutes will go to Gobert this season.
Sep 10 - 5:48 PM

Rudy Gobert made both of his field goal attempts vs. Egypt on Monday, scoring six points with six boards and one block in 18 minutes.

He didn't commit any fouls in this easy win, which was a problem in his first two, averaging 3.5 fouls per game in 15.5 minutes. Gobert now holds averages of 5.0 points, 4.7 boards and 1.0 blocks in 16 minutes per outing. He'll be in the rotation for the Jazz, but his woeful foul shooting knocks him out of standard-league consideration.
Sep 1 - 7:34 PM

Rudy Gobert is expected to get more run with the French FIBA team.

Kevin Seraphin (knee) and Alexis Ajinca aren't going to play, so the team has already added Ian Mahinmi. Gobert was phenomenal at Las Vegas Summer League and how we'll be able to get a larger sample size to see if his improvement is for real. His footwork was vastly improved, leading to better rebounding and blocking. He's a good bet to take some of Enes Kanter's minutes.
Jul 24 - 5:29 PM

Jazz center Rudy Gobert will rest a sore shoulder during Tuesday's Summer League game.

It's bad news for anyone watching the game, but won't have any long-term impact. Gobert is 10-of-11 from the field through two games, averaging 12.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks against inferior competition, so it makes sense for Utah to rest him as a precaution.
Jul 15 - 8:23 PM

Rudy Gobert showed off his tremendous length vs. the Bucks on Monday, making all six of his shots for 13 points with nine boards and five blocks.

He's better with timing, a more adept passer and has done a great job at establishing position. Gobert should take some minutes away from Enes Kanter, so he's worth a look in deep drafts. Although, he needs to work on his free throws.
Jul 15 - 12:22 AM

Jazz center Rudy Gobert had an appendectomy in California on Monday, and he's since returned to rehabilitate in Utah.

The team hasn't provided a timetable for his recovery, but assuming Gobert's appendix hadn't ruptured he should resume basketball activities in about 4-6 weeks. The 7'2" Frenchman appeared in 45 games during his rookie season, averaging 2.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in under 10 minutes per game.
Jun 10 - 3:17 PM

Rudy Gobert is looking to make big strides in his game over the summer.

The 7'1" French national only played in less than half of the Jazz' games this season, but is hoping that a strong summer will help him break into Utah's rotation next season. "It was important for me, just to show my progress in the season," Gobert said. "I know I didn't play that much, but I just tried to show, show them all the time. I think I did pretty good. I just can't wait for the next season and summer league, maybe more playing time." The Stifle Tower planned to go back home to France for a few weeks after the season, but will return to the United States by the end of May to start his training. Gobert has a long way to go before he's a fantasy asset, but he has the size and talent to make a difference in deeper leagues if he is able to play his way into some minutes.
May 20 - 10:25 AM

The Jazz are having trouble finding room in their rotation for Rudy Gobert.

The 21-year-old Frenchman has a ton of upside, but the Jazz don't have any minutes to give to him at the moment. "Where we are right now. I mean, who you gonna play him in front of?" coach Ty Corbin said. Gobert has some value in deep dynasty leagues, but fantasy owners who are making a late-season push in redraft leagues shouldn't be paying any attention to Gobert's situation.
Mar 25 - 1:44 PM

Rudy Gobert played 31 minutes in Monday's loss and finished with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Gobert missed all four of his shot attempts and while his defensive and rebounding upside is interesting he's still very, very raw. Ty Corbin is riding Enes Kanter harder than anybody on the team right now and that's how Gobert got his time, and if that continues then Gobert could have some value starting in deeper leagues.
Feb 4 - 3:06 AM

Rudy Gobert did not play against the Pelicans on Wednesday.

He didn't get off the bench with Jeremy Evans making his season debut tonight. Gobert is extremely raw, but he's shown some promise in his rookie season. He doesn't look like he'll be making an impact this year and is only worth holding in extremely deep leagues.

Rudy Gobert had a phenomenal finish to his preseason with 16 points, nine boards, one steal and three blocks on 8-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes against the Lakers.

He had a whopping six offensive boards and put his wingspan to good use tonight. Gobert did turn the ball over five times and he does need a little more awareness in traffic. The rookie will serve as a backup to Enes Kanter and isn't worth drafting in almost any format. For what it's worth, he was selected at 262 in a recent expert draft.
