Rudy Gobert is reportedly expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks of action with a bone bruise in his right knee.
If Gobert misses four weeks that will put him out for 13 games, but the six-week mark would have him miss closer to 20. With him out, Derrick Favors will get a huge boost as he'll spend more time at the five-spot and see his minutes in the 30s with regularity. Thabo Sefolosha also figures to be looking at a 30-plus minute role as a starter moving forward, and he could be someone to think about grabbing in deep leagues for his upside in the defensive stats. For what it's worth, this is not the same knee or injury that forced Gobert to the sidelines for a month during the 2015-16 season. Nov 12 - 4:05 PM

Date:

Rudy Gobert (knee) will not play against the Nets on Saturday.

The Jazz will play it safe with their star big man after his Friday injury. He did go through warmups, so he's likely just day-to-day and hopefully only needs to miss one game. With him out, Derrick Favors and Ekpe Udoh clearly benefit while all of the other wings should play more, as well.
Nov 11 - 8:09 PM

Rudy Gobert (knee) is going to warm up and see how it feels before Saturday's game against the Nets.

He's a game-time decision after his injury on Friday. Gobert was able to return in the loss last night, but he did have a sleeve on his knee after Dion Waiters fell into him. If he's out, expect to see more Derrick Favors, Thabo Sefolosha, Ekpe Udoh and more perimeter, small-ball lineups.
Nov 11 - 7:32 PM

Rudy Gobert (knee) is questionable against the Nets on Saturday.

He suffered what looked like a scary right knee injury on Friday as Dion Waiters fell into his knee, but he did return and looked fine. Gobert did have a sleeve on his right knee upon his return last night and maybe there's some swelling the day after. If he can't go and considering the matchup, the Jazz would have to consider moving Derrick Favors over to the five with Ekpe Udoh playing more minutes, as well. There would be more minutes to go around to all the wings, as well.
Nov 11 - 2:18 PM

Rudy Gobert (knee) fought through a right knee contusion in Friday's game against the Heat, finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots across 35 minutes.

Gobert limped off to the locker room to be checked out, but he was able to return after a brief absence and finish with the double-double while working against Hassan Whiteside. It doesn't appear that he'll be forced to miss any time as a result of the injury unless he suffers some soreness or swelling overnight. It sounds like he and his fantasy owners dodged a bullet here, however.
Nov 11 - 1:13 AM

Rudy Gobert has been diagnosed with a right knee contusion and is probable to return to Friday's game vs. the Heat.

After limping to the locker room, Gobert is already back on the bench and should check back in soon. Jazz fans and fantasy owners can breathe again, but we'll have an update after the game regardless of how he looks.
Nov 10 - 10:48 PM

Rudy Gobert limped to the locker room on Friday vs. the Heat with an apparent right knee injury.

Dion Waiters crashed into Gobert and the big man went down holding his knee. It's too early to speculate on the severity, so we'll wait for an official update from the Jazz. If Gobert is forced to miss time, Derrick Favors will play a lot more center and Ekpe Udoh would get a bump in minutes as well.
Nov 10 - 10:39 PM

Rudy Robert hit 4-of-8 shots and 8-of-12 free throws for 16 points, 15 rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 36 minutes on Tuesday.

It was Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins or Nikola Jokic tonight, but Gobert produced a solid fantasy stat line. He's actually been a more consistent scorer than Jokic, hitting double figures in all but one of his games this season, but Jokic's stats have been better over the course of the season. Gobert is still one of the best fantasy centers in the game.
Nov 8 - 12:16 AM

Rudy Gobert made 6-of-11 shots to finish Sunday's road loss with 13 points, five boards and one assist in 25 minutes.

He didn't have any defensive stats but that's obviously not going to happen often -- he'd blocked an average of 3.7 shots in his previous six games. Utah hangs their hat on defense but they were absolutely trounced by James Harden and the Rockets tonight, so they should be fired up for Tuesday's game vs. the visiting Sixers.
Nov 5 - 9:38 PM

Rudy Gobert was a beast against the center-less Mavericks on Monday, torching Nerlens Noel and Dirk Nowitzki for 17 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals and six blocks for a rare 4x5 games.

He had a 4X5 game last April and it's not surprising he did it again vs. the Mavs tonight. If you played Gobert in DFS, you might be getting paid.
Oct 31 - 12:18 AM

Rudy Gobert scored 16 points with 14 rebounds, one assist and five blocks in 36 minutes against the Suns during a 97-88 loss on Wednesday.

That's the Rudy we know after getting just six blocks in the first four games combined. In fact, Ekpe Udoh almost doubled up Gobert's blocks in those games and Gobert said he has some catching up to do -- he's only one behind him now. On offense, his usage rate is up and he's in elite territory with his 71.1 true shooting percentage so far this season. Gobert is also sitting pretty at the line with his 12-of-15 (80 percent) at the charity stripe, so first-round value could be in his future for standard leagues.
Oct 26 - 1:39 AM

Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and a steal with just one turnover across 33 minutes in Saturday's game against the Thunder.

Gobert was very efficient from the floor, going 8-of-11, while taking good care of the basketball. That's three games and three double-doubles for the Frenchman. The only thing fantasy owners could possibly complain about might be the lack of a blocked shot from his scoring line, but the blocks will come soon enough for The Stifle Tower.
Oct 22 - 12:16 AM

Rudy Gobert posted 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and one block during Wednesday's win vs. the Nuggets, making 7-of-9 field goals and 4-of-4 free throws.

Gobert also committed an uncharacteristic six turnovers in 35 minutes, which tied his career high (he's had six TOs once in each of the past two seasons). Turnovers are the least of his owners' concerns, and it was great to see him knock down all of his freebies tonight. The blocks will come very soon, in large quantities.
Oct 19 - 2:10 AM

Rudy Gobert hit 10-of-12 shots and 9-of-11 free throws for 29 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks in 33 minutes in Tuesday's 105-99 preseason win over the Lakers.

Gobert was a monster tonight and took advantage of Brook Lopez and every other center the Lakers put out there. He was dunking, hitting left handed bank shots and dominating the paint for most of the night. Yeah, it was only a preseason game, but Gobert is a legitimate late first-round fantasy pick, and shouldn't be available in the third round of any leagues.
Oct 11 - 1:13 AM

Rudy Gobert (rest) will not suit up for Monday's preseason game against Phoenix.

The Jazz are on a back-to-back set during the preseason, so they'll go ahead and keep their franchise center on the sidelines. We should see some more Ekpe Udoh, Joel Bolomboy and Tony Bradley tonight, but none of those guys will be worth owning once the regular season is underway.
