Rudy Gobert said that he's been focused on his "post game and mid-range shot" this offseason.
"Those are my two main focuses," Gobert said, in addition to "getting stronger, improving [his] lower-body strength and working on [his] quickness." He hopes to "show even more" offensively now that Gordon Hayward and George Hill left in free agency, and it shouldn't be hard for Gobert to increase his 16.7 percent usage rate from the 2016-17 season. Jazz GM Dennis Linsey said he's going to build his team around Rudy Gobert following Gordon Hayward's departure.

"We feel like we can build defensively around Rudy Gobert," Lindsey said. "We look at him, and he's a top 10 player and unique defender. So we wanted to build a team around his talents." Lindsey added that he wants to showcase Gobert's ability, so the 25-year-old big man seems poised for a career year as the clear franchise player. If he can keep improving from the free throw line, there's no reason why he can't be a top-10 fantasy player -- he shot 65.3 percent from the stripe last season.

Rudy Gobert, Kawhi Leonard and Draymond Green are the finalists for Defensive Player of the Year.

These are the only three options here with each having some clear strengths over the others. Gobert is the best rim protector in the league, Kawhi is as good as it gets on the perimeter, and no player is better at team defense than Draymond. This will likely be one of the closest awards on June 26.

Stephen Curry, Isaiah Thomas, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Rudy Gobert were named to the All-NBA second team.

The Stifle Tower had a massive breakout year as an elite roll man to go with arguably the best rim protection in the league. Somehow, Gobert didn't make the All-Star team, which is another reason why we can't take All-Star Game voting seriously. If Gobert can put it together at the free throw line, he could reach truly elite fantasy value.

Rudy Gobert announced he will not play with the French national team this summer at the European Basketball Championship.

Gobert suffered a minor knee injury in the first round of the 2017 postseason vs. the Clippers and cited that as one of the reasons he declined playing for Team France. "It was a tough decision for me. But there's my recent knee injury in playoffs, the long season, discussions with my club... I need to work on my body this summer," said Gobert.
May 13 - 9:37 AM

Rudy Gobert scored 21 points during a 102-91 Game 3 loss to the Warriors on Saturday, adding 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 39 minutes.

He was exceptional at times during this game, but the Warriors simply have too much firepower. Gobert's offensive game has had several bright spots and he's way ahead of the curve as a pick-and-roll player. His passing also probably doesn't get talked about enough either. If Gobert can start to make free throws consistently, his upside is sky high in reality and in fantasy.
May 6 - 11:38 PM

Rudy Gobert fouled out in just 13 minutes of play on Sunday, finishing with just one point and four rebounds in Utah's Game 7 win.

Gobert was a complete no-show in this one, going 0-of-1 from the field and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe, but Utah still pulled out the win with their suffocating defense. Gobert's bum ankle didn't appear to be much of an issue at all, and now he'll have until Tuesday to rest up for Game 1 against the Warriors, so he should be just fine moving forward.
Apr 30 - 6:52 PM

Rudy Gobert (mild left ankle sprain) will play in Sunday's Game 7 against the Clippers, as expected.

"It's a Game 7. He'll play," said head coach Quin Snyder. Gobert was never in any danger of missing tonight's game, although he will be playing hurt, so he could be somewhat limited. Joining Gobert in the starting five will be George Hill, Joe Ingles, Gordon Hayward and Boris Diaw.

The Jazz listed Rudy Gobert (mild left ankle sprain) as probable to face the Clippers in Game 7 on Sunday.

He said he is going to play and coach Quin Snyder had some comments about Gobert suiting up. "There will be some carry over from that [ankle injury]. He was hurting enough to not be effective," Snyder said. "He didn’t finish the game, so hopefully it’s a quick turn, but sometimes those things in the course of a day or a day-and-a-half, you improve. He knows what’s at stake." Gobert may be somewhat limited, but his rim protection may be the most important factor in Game 7. The Clippers relentlessly attack the rim when he's off the court.
Apr 29 - 9:50 PM

Rudy Gobert was diagnosed with a mild left ankle sprain but said he is "good to go" for Game 7 on Sunday vs. the Clippers.

Gobert tweaked his ankle in the third quarter of Game 6 on Friday night, but was able to return in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, it appears to be only a minor injury, as there is a short turnaround for Game 7. The Jazz will likely need Rudy to dominate the paint on both ends of the floor if they hope to go on the road and knock off the Clippers in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.
Apr 29 - 1:30 PM

X-rays were negative on Rudy Gobert (left ankle) and he will be fine for Game 7 on Sunday.

An ankle tweak in the second half did limit Gobert in the fourth quarter. The training staff gave him some treatment on the bench in the final minutes of the game, but he was also able to play through it earlier in the fourth. Gobert may not be 100 percent, but coach Quin Snyder isn't likely to cap his star big man.
Apr 29 - 2:20 AM

Rudy Gobert played 33 minutes against the Clippers on Friday, scoring 15 points with nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks.

He looked to tweak a left ankle and had some treatment from the training staff in the fourth quarter. Gobert didn't look right in the third quarter, but this injury doesn't look as bad as his left knee sprain from the first possession of this series. He'll probably be on the injury report for Game 7 on Sunday. This new injury being on the same leg doesn't help, but there's a good chance Gobert is out there. The Jazz missed him badly late.
Apr 29 - 1:29 AM

Rudy Gobert (knee) didn't miss a shot during his return on Sunday, going 6-of-6 from the field for 15 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one assist as the Jazz defeated the visiting Clippers in Game 4.

Gobert made a surprisingly quick return from a hyperextension and bone bruise in his left knee, running and jumping without any apparent limitations. Quin Snyder said before the game that Gobert's minutes would be dictated by fatigue, but he was almost certainly on a 24-minute limit since he sat out down the stretch of a tight playoff game. Hopefully his minutes will increase during a crucial game in L.A. on Tuesday.

Apr 24 - 12:29 AM

Rudy Gobert (knee) will start Game 4 on Sunday.

Gobert will be back in action for the first time since the opening minute of Game 1. Derrick Favors' minutes could dip with Gobert back in action, with either he or Boris Diaw likely shifting to a reserve role -- it was Favors coming off the bench in Game 1.
Apr 23 - 7:57 PM

Rudy Gobert (knee) is working out prior to Game 4, after which Utah's trainers will decide his availability.

Gobert looked good during his warmups and he played through some contact, so early indications are positive. We should have a conclusive update very soon.
