The Nets will sign Archie Goodwin to a second 10-day deal.
He's played in each of the last three games, averaging 8.7 points in 13.3 minutes. Goodwin may seem some added run if the Nets rest more players, but he's still not a fantasy option. Mar 24 - 3:30 PM

Nets coach Kenny Atkinson hinted that Archie Goodwin will likely get a second 10-day contract.

"We’ve got to discuss it as an organization but I would say it’s trending very positive," Atkinson said. "And that’s not just from a basketball standpoint but from a culture standpoint. From the first day I met him, how he presents himself every day." He scored 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 18 minutes vs. the Pistons on Tuesday, but with Jeremy Lin (ankle) expected back, Goodwin will likely take a hit -- Atkinson said he's looking at Goodwin as a point guard.

Kenny Atkinson praised Archie Goodwin and KJ McDaniels on Tuesday and said they would "get some opportunities" in Tuesday's contest vs. the Pistons.

With Jeremy Lin (ankle) ruled out, Spencer Dinwiddie will draw the start but Goodwin will likely see extra minutes off the Nets bench. Archie made his Nets debut on Sunday and played 14 minutes after Lin had to leave the game due to the ankle issue. Goodwin could see 15-plus minutes on Tuesday. However, with Dinwiddie starting and playing the lion's share of minutes, Goodwin still belongs on waivers. McDaniels is averaging 17.5 mpg and that could continue to rise.

Archie Goodwin played 14 minutes with four points, two rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer against the Mavs on Sunday.

Jeremy Lin (ankle) got hurt and Spencer Dinwiddie got some early fouls, so we saw Goodwin for the first time as a Net. The Nets may get another look at him, but he's still not close to seeing consistent minutes.
Mar 19 - 2:45 PM

Archie Goodwin won't make his debut vs. the Knicks on Thursday.

Goodwin signed his 10-day deal with the Nets on Wednesday and did go through a full practice, but coach Kenny Atkinson said he won't play until Friday or Sunday. "He’s got to get his feet under him and hopefully in this 10-day period," Atkinson said. "Probably right, not the first game. Get a few practices under his belt we can throw him in against the Celtics or the Mavs and see where he is." If he impresses and earns a long-term deal, Goodwin could be interesting later in the season if the Nets start shutting veterans down.

The Nets will reportedly sign Archie Goodwin to a 10-day deal on Wednesday.

With Sean Kilpatrick (hamstring), Joe Harris (concussion) banged up, and Jeremy Lin's (ankle) status for Thursday's game in New York up in the air, Goodwin may be able to pick up some minutes in the Nets rotation. However, it's unlikely he'll be on the floor enough to matter in most leagues.
Mar 15 - 11:21 AM

The Pelicans have waived Archie Goodwin.

With Jrue Holiday back with the team, Goodwin wasn't going to be in the rotation. He averaged 5.0 points in 10.0 minutes per game through three appearances.

Alvin Gentry said that he's planning on giving Archie Goodwin minutes right away.

"We sign a guy, we play him," said Gentry. "Ask James Ennis." Ennis logged 24 minutes in his New Orleans' debut last season, so Goodwin could be looking at a similar workload with the Pelicans so banged up. Last year through 10 games in February Goodwin averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 turnovers per game on 41.1 percent shooting while earning 32.4 minutes a night, so he could be worth a speculative add in deep points leagues. However, fantasy GMs in most leagues can use a wait-and-see approach here.

Archie Goodwin has signed his deal with the Pelicans.

It's a two-year deal, but the second year is a team option. Goodwin should get minutes right away with the Pelicans so banged up, but it's not clear if he will play on Monday vs. the Warriors.

Free agent G Archie Goodwin is finalizing a two-year deal with the Pelicans, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The Pelicans could waive injured Lance Stephenson to clear a roster spot, but ESPN's Marc Stein reports that they're still exploring their options. Stephenson recently suffered a groin injury that requires surgery and his loss detracts from the Pelicans' already shaky playmaking, so the addition of Goodwin makes plenty of sense. Fantasy GMs in deep leagues should grab him, but everyone else can take a wait-and-see approach.

The Suns will waive G Archie Goodwin, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

It is arguably the most surprising move of the day. Goodwin was a first-round pick back in the 2013 draft and is still just 22 years old. He averaged 8.9 points in 19.5 minutes for the Suns last season. He even started 13 games for Phoenix, and averaged 15.9 points and 4.4 assists in those 13 contests. He had one year left of guaranteed money on his contract worth $2.1 million. There are some obvious flaws in his game, especially his career 3-point percentage currently sits at just 22.7 percent. On the other hand, he has shown flashes of incredible athleticism and talent. It is safe to assume he'll draw plenty of interest from around the league and likely won't clear waivers.

Archie Goodwin is trying to stay positive despite limited opportunities in the backcourt this season.

"I can only control what I can control," Goodwin said. "I’m just staying positive. Whenever my name is called, I’ll try my best to be prepared and play the best I can because you never know what will happen." The Suns will start Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker with Brandon Knight logging heavy minutes off the bench, meaning Goodwin will have to fight for limited minutes with Tyler Ulis and Leandro Barbosa. Booker (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game vs. Dallas, so Goodwin could get a long look.

Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said the team will talk about an extension with Archie Goodwin's agent later in October.

Goodwin is set to become a restricted free agent after the 2016-17 season if an agreement is not agreed upon by the October 31 deadline, but McDonough said talks will happen. "We want to see how it goes in training camp and preseason and then we’ll revisit it as a staff probably the last week or last 10 days of October," McDonough said. Goodwin will be stuck in a backcourt logjam to start the season, but is still worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues.

Archie Goodwin (ankle) logged 30 minutes vs. the Clippers on Wednesday, scoring 10 points with five assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Goodwin shot just 5-of-16 from the field without any 3-pointers tonight. He's a work in progress as a point guard, and Earl Watson has specifically pointed to defensive lapses as a hurdle to playing time. Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight are locked in as the Suns' backcourt of the future so it might take a trade for Goodwin to be a reliable fantasy asset next season.

Archie Goodwin (ankle) will play against the Clippers on Wednesday.

He wants to start next season, so this might be a big chance for him to boost his trade value. In 2014-15, Goodwin scored his season-high in the finale, so maybe he can do it again tonight. He'll be an interesting option in DFS against the Clippers B team.
