Archie Goodwin scored 20 points with two rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday.
He'll be in the news tomorrow because Markieff Morris got into it with him and Morris had his hand around Goodwin's neck. There is talk of Brandon Knight (groin) coming back, but Goodwin should remain owned until Knight is on the court. Feb 11 - 1:12 AM

Archie Goodwin scored 20 points with four rebounds, seven assists and two turnovers against the Thunder on Monday night.

Coach Earl Watson said after the game he thought Goodwin had a "solid" effort and he really liked that Goodwin only had two turnovers. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Brandon Knight comes back, but Goodwin should still be owned in all leagues.
Feb 9 - 1:02 AM

Archie Goodwin scored 14 points with six boards, three assists, one block and one 3-pointer in Saturday's loss to the Jazz.

He unfortunately had more turnovers (4) than assists for the third time in his last five games, but to be fair Goodwin is still learning how to be a point guard. Brandon Knight (groin) will be sidelined through the All-Star break and possibly more, so Goodwin is still worth holding onto if you don't mind the heavy turnovers. It also helps that Knight is a potential shut-down candidate with the Suns playing for ping pong balls.
Feb 7 - 1:39 AM

Archie Goodwin scored 22 points against the Rockets on Thursday, adding one rebound, seven assists, two 3-pointers and six turnovers in 38 minutes.

The Suns are really embracing the pass, but sometimes the plays aren't there and that led to their 24 turnovers tonight. Goodwin's minutes seem to be locked up until late February at the very least, so he's worth holding in standard leagues.
Feb 4 - 11:59 PM

Archie Goodwin broke out of a funk on Tuesday, racking up 18 points, a career-high 12 assists and two 3-pointers on 7-of-12 shooting in 45 minutes.

Wow. Just when it looked like the Goodwin party might be coming to an end, he pulled a great game out of his hat. He came in averaging just 4.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists over his last two games, hitting 4-of-26 shots. He righted the ship tonight and if he was dropped, or you've had your eye on him, it's time to pick him up.
Feb 3 - 12:04 AM

Coach Earl Watson said Archie Goodwin is "finding the niche in his game" during his press conference on Tuesday.

The interim coach also called Goodwin a two-guard playing the point. Watson said he wants clearer roles in the rotation, so it'll be interesting to see how he utilizes Goodwin. Watson's said he can't tell Goodwin to get 6-8 assists per night and it'll have to be a team approach. The next couple games for Goodwin will be huge, but it starts tonight in a tough matchup against Kyle Lowry.
Feb 2 - 5:06 PM

Archie Goodwin shot just 1-of-11 vs. the Mavericks, finishing Sunday's road loss with three points, four rebounds, one steal and three turnovers.

Goodwin is averaging just 7.0 points on 7-of-36 shooting (19.4 percent) in his past three games, a steep decline considering how well he played immediately after Brandon Knight's groin injury. He was 1-of-8 within five feet of the rim and needs to finish better to sustain his offense -- fantasy owners should consider benching him until he heats up.
Jan 31 - 10:12 PM

Archie Goodwin made 3-of-15 from the field for six points with five rebounds, two assists and four turnovers in 23 minutes against the Knicks on Friday.

He had a rough start and played just seven minutes in the first half due to turning the ball over three times and failing to score. Goodwin did turn it around and he had one of the better dunks of the year on Kristaps Porzingis (video in link below). Surprisingly, Jordan McRae took some of his minutes tonight. Still, Goodwin's owners shouldn't hit the panic button yet.
Jan 29 - 9:59 PM

Archie Goodwin is not by surprised by his promising play over the last couple of weeks.

"I’ve been knowing I could do this since my rookie year," Goodwin said. "People can say what they want but I know what I’m capable of doing. I know how hard I worked. I know the hours I put in with the coaches. It was just a matter of me getting an opportunity." Goodwin is averaging 18.0 points, 3.4 assists, 2.8 boards, 0.8 blocks, 1.6 steals and 1.2 3-pointers over his last five games and it makes sense to own him right now with Brandon Knight (groin) still without a timetable.
Jan 29 - 10:46 AM

Archie Goodwin started again on Wednesday and picked up 12 points on 3-of-10 FGs and 5-of-6 FTs, with one 3-pointer, two rebounds, five assists, two steals and five turnovers.

Brandon Knight (groin) will miss at least the Suns' next two games, and he's not guaranteed to return vs. the Raptors on Feb. 2. Goodwin is a nice short-term option in Knight's ongoing absence, as he's averaging 20.5 points, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals in his past four games. It makes sense to grab him if he's available.
Jan 27 - 9:39 PM

Archie Goodwin said that he's "just learning" how to play the point guard position.

"I’m just learning to play the point guard position, really," Goodwin said. "I’m just getting back in the groove of playing it. It’s fun." Goodwin has filled in admirably as Phoenix's starting point guard with Eric Bledsoe (knee) and Brandon Knight (groin) sidelined, and since being inserted into the starting five Goodwin owns averages of 23.3 points, 4.0 assists, 1.7 three-pointers, 1.7 steals, 1.0 block and 4.0 turnovers per game on 50.0 percent shooting from the field. He netted a career-high 26 points on Tuesday and is worth owning in most leagues while he's this hot, particularly with Knight being a potential shutdown candidate.
Jan 27 - 9:44 AM

Archie Goodwin hit 11-of-15 shots and a 3-pointer for a career-high 26 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals in 29 minutes on Tuesday.

He and Ish Smith had a fun battle and Goodwin is breaking out before our eyes. Brandon Knight is out at least three more games with a groin injury and is a shut-down candidate, while Goodwin has scored at least 20 points in three straight games. Pick him up if you need a point guard, or if you need Knight insurance.
Jan 26 - 9:49 PM

Archie Goodwin buried a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds left during a 98-95 win over the Hawks on Saturday, scoring a season-high 24 points with one rebound, four assists, two steals, two blocks and one other 3-pointer in 36 minutes.

It was his best game of the season and coach Jeff Hornacek said he drew up the play for Goodwin (video in link below). Brandon Knight (groin) sounds like he's going to miss some time here, so Goodwin could have a few more games with big minutes as the starter. The Suns might be extra careful with Knight and Hornacek said a positive of all these injuries is the kids can play, so Goodwin is worth a look while Knight doesn't have a clean bill of health.
Jan 24 - 12:31 AM

Archie Goodwin got the start for Brandon Knight (adductor) and played 39 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, scoring a season-high 20 points with three rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers.

He's made just 3-of-17 from beyond the arc on the year before tonight, so the treys and scoring were a surprise. Brandon Knight's strained adductor could be a problem for him and he's also a shutdown candidate, so Goodwin has value in deeper leagues. Most owners should be able to do better.
Jan 22 - 1:32 AM

Archie Goodwin will start against the Spurs on Thursday.

While he is playing a little better, coach Jeff Hornacek said he likes Lorenzo Brown as more of a natural point guard. Still, Goodwin has a good chance to perform tonight.
