Ex Grizziles guard Jamaal Franklin could return to the NBA in January.
He's currently playing in China and scored scored 53 points on 19-of-29 shooting yesterday. He's eligible for a return to the NBA in January, but regardless of where he lands, 53 points might be a good over-under for the total points he might score over the last few months of season. Jamaal Franklin is reportedly joining the Zheijang Lions in China this season.

Franklin was waived by the Grizzlies in August. He worked out for the Spurs in September but failed to earn a guaranteed contract, and it seems he'll seek his fortunes overseas this year. Whether or not the deal includes an opt-out clause, he's not on any fantasy radars.
Oct 7 - 3:54 PM

Former Grizzlies G Jamaal Franklin has been working out for the Spurs this week.

Franklin shot 45.5 percent from downtown in limited action with the Grizzlies last season, and once he joined the D-League he notched 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals. If he does join the Spurs for training camp, they'll have no fewer than 19 players on the roster.

The Grizzlies waived G Jamaal Franklin via the stretch provision on Sunday.

Franklin was owed just $816k this season so it's an interesting that they 'stretched' his salary-cap number instead of buying out his contract. The 6'5" SG barely saw the court under coach Dave Joerger last season but he has enough talent to earn a look from another NBA team during training camp.
Aug 31 - 4:15 PM

Grizzlies guard Jamaal Franklin is shooting 4-of-22 from the field through two games at the Orlando Pro Summer League.

"I’m getting good looks and playing the right style. I just can’t seem to get the ball in the hoop," said Franklin. He'll earn a guaranteed rookie-scale salary for the 2014-15 season, but he shot just 41.0 percent as a rookie and has a long road to earning reliable minutes in Dave Joerger's rotation.
Jul 6 - 6:45 PM

Jamaal Franklin played nine fourth quarter minutes in Wednesday's win over Milwaukee.

Franklin's minutes were the first he's seen since December 28th, as the Grizzlies looked to infuse a fourth quarter spark. Said coach Dave Joerger: "Jamaal Franklin did a terrific job." Franklin may again see some minutes going forward as way to jump start the team, but his fantasy value is microscopic at the moment.
Jan 16 - 1:09 PM

Jamaal Franklin was recalled by the Grizzlies on Sunday.

He will likely be with the team for Sunday's game against the Hawks. Franklin doesn't project to be in the rotation even with Tony Allen out, so there's no reason to think about him in fantasy.
Jan 12 - 4:25 PM

Jamaal Franklin was sent down to the D-League on Friday.

Franklin was averaging just 1.9 points in 9.2 minutes over 14 games for the Grizzlies this season, and the demotion should give him a chance to work on his game.
Jan 10 - 3:29 PM

Jamaal Franklin stepped into the injured Quincy Pondexter's spot in the Grizzlies' rotation during Monday's win over the Magic.

Franklin's 15 minutes Monday night were the most he's seen this season and he responded with his highest point total of the season (eight). The ailing Grizzlies brought in several players for tryouts on Monday, but it looks like Franklin should see around 15 minutes a game going forward now that Quincy Pondexter will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. However, like Pondexter, Franklin won't be much of a fantasy asset unless he is somehow able to earn his way to playing 25-30 minutes a night.

Grizzlies sign Jamaal Franklin to three-year contract, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.

The Grizzlies took Franklin with the 41st overall pick in June's draft, which was considered an absolute steal. Franklin likely won't make an immediate impact, but he does have the kind of all-around game that could make him a starting-caliber player in the NBA eventually.

San Diego State F Jamaal Franklin slipped to the Grizzlies at 41 in Thursday's NBA Draft.

It's about time for Franklin. Some reports had him going as high as 16 and he's got a lot of diversity to his game. Franklin doesn't really have much of a jumper, but if he can develop it, he has the ability to become a starter with consistent minutes for Memphis. He's not worth drafting in most fantasy leagues just yet, though.

Jamaal Franklin has drawn interest from the Hawks, Bulls, Knicks and Clippers.

That's a range from the Hawks at 16 to the Clippers at 26, which is about right. Franklin was in a walking boot at the combine due to a sprained ankle and couldn't really improve on his draft stock. He's an athletic guy and since he went to San Diego State, he has drawn some unfair comparisons to Kawhi Leonard.

Jamaal Franklin (ankle) is still unable to work out for interested teams.

Franklin expected to begin workouts in 1-2 weeks at the beginning of June, but the injury has lingered longer than he'd like. Regardless, Franklin should be a first round pick on Thursday, so he's not doing a ton of damage to his draft stock by sitting out.

San Diego State SG Jamaal Franklin (ankle) expects to begin workouts in 1-2 weeks.

Franklin was in a walking boot at the Combine in Chicago and is still rehabbing. The only player to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists and steals last year, he needs to show he can shoot the NBA 3-pointer to get his draft stock moving. Right now, Franklin is projected to go somewhere in the back of the first round.
