Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't do much as Greece was eliminated from the World Cup by Serbia, tallying seven points on 3-of-3 shooting to go with four assists, two rebounds, and a block.
Giannis has a lot of potential, but has struggled with consistency. He's now averaging 6.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals through five games of tournament play. It'll be interesting to see how the position battle between Giannis and O.J. Mayo plays out over training camp and preseason, but obviously the Greek Freak's value would be better if he lands the starting job. He's worth a late-round flier in standard leagues. Coach Jason Kidd said Giannis Antetokounmpo has been doing well for the Greek national team.

"He is filling up the stat sheet," Kidd said. Back in Las Vegas, Kidd said he may give Antetokoumpo some minutes at point guard, which became one of the biggest stories of summer league. Although, the Greek Freak didn't fare too well as a ball-handler, so he has a long way to go.
Sep 6 - 9:20 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo went scoreless in Greece's 79-71 win over Argentina on Thursday.

In only 12 minutes of action the Greek Freak only took two shots, missing them both. He added six rebounds and one block to what was a very forgettable evening. Antetokounmpo had been playing well in the World Cup up until this point, so hopefully this is merely an outlier.
Sep 4 - 5:48 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 15 points vs. Puerto Rico in Monday's win, adding three rebounds, one steal and one turnover in 23 minutes.

He continues to get to the line and made 5-of-7 from there today to go with 5-of-8 on two-pointers and missing all three from beyond the arc. As expected, Antetokounmpo has been up and down in the tournament, but we should get to see plenty more of him with the Greek's 3-0 record so far. He's a high-upside gamble late in fantasy drafts.
Sep 1 - 7:12 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo was hospitalized this weekend due to gastroenteritis, but he's expected to rejoin the Greek national team on Monday.

This isn't a serious problem, fortunately, and Antetokoumpo was brought to the hospital for rapid hydration following his illness. He should be fun to watch throughout Greek's run in the FIBA World Cup this summer, and expectations are high for his sophomore season with the Bucks.

Aug 24 - 2:25 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo was officially selected to the Greek FIBA World Cup team.

There was never a doubt, but it's worth mentioning considering how several USA players dropped out. Antetokounmpo didn't get big minutes in the exhibition matches leading up to the tournament and the national team may not unleash him. After a headline-filled summer league, we'll be watching him closely.
Aug 23 - 11:20 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with three points, six boards and one steal vs. New Zealand on Monday.

He's been quiet as the Greek team gets ready for the FIBA World Cup. Antetokounmpo has been coming off the bench and has been playing minutes in the low double-digits, but he could see more action when the event starts later this month. We'll be watching him very closely as a possible breakout guy in 2014-15.
Aug 18 - 1:52 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored five points with five boards and two assists in an exhibition game vs. Slovenia.

He played just 12 minutes off the bench and shot 2-of-5 from the field. Antetokounmpo was one of the bigger stories at Las Vegas Summer League due to the comments of coach Jason Kidd saying he could look to play the Greek Freak at point guard. He may have some trouble shooting the ball efficiently, but his defensive contributions make him a player to watch in camp and at the FIBA World Cup.
Aug 18 - 10:13 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play vs. the Warriors on Friday.

He is on his way back to Greece for FIBA. While the Bucks are the only winless team in either Orlando or Las Vegas summer leagues, Antetokounmpo has been very impressive. Coach Jason Kidd said he will try and use the Greek Freak at the point guard spot this season, so we'll see how that works out. He's a very interesting target late in drafts.
Jul 18 - 4:07 PM

The Bucks may be seriously considering using Giannis Antetokounmpo as their point guard this season, and he's been running the offense for Milwaukee's Summer League team.

"We’ve seen it in practice ... and we slowly have started letting him have the ball and running the offense," said head coach Jason Kidd. "With the group we have right now, with [Brandon] Knight and Giannis, we have additional playmakers and when we have that on the floor, it makes the game easy. We’ll see how the roster shakes out, but we’re not afraid to play him at the point, as you see." The Greek Freak is averaging 2.3 assists vs. 4.0 turnovers through three games in Las Vegas, but even if he doesn't start at PG it's clear that he'll be handling the ball frequently this season. His turnovers may rise as a consequence, but overall this is good news for his fantasy outlook.

Jul 15 - 7:48 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo looked terrific on Monday vs. the Jazz, scoring 15 points with four boards, five assists, three steals and four turnovers.

He is 6'11" and he was running the point, which really drives home the point that he is just a Greek Freak. If his growth continues at this rate, we could be in for a fun ride. Antetokounmpo is on the radar in standard leagues.
Jul 15 - 12:16 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo showed off his added length against the Cavs on Friday, finishing with 17 points, six boards, two assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers on 6-of-12 shooting.

He reportedly is now 6'11" and today's game confirms that measurement. Antetokounmpo went coast-to-coast in two dribbles and the Cavs had some difficulty shooting over his lanky frame. He played a bit of both forward spots and coach Jason Kidd has to be intrigued by Alphabet. He'll be worth watching as a possible late-round pick.
Jul 11 - 10:05 PM

General manager John Hammond said the Bucks could play Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the forward spots this season.

"You look at Giannis, with his size [at 6'11"], I think you can do things with he and Jabari at the forward positions," Hammond said. "If we are going to become what we want to become, those guys need to do that — two of the top forwards in the NBA playing together." This storyline will be a major one for the Bucks at Las Vegas Summer League with both 19-year-old guys on the team. Antetokounmpo offers huge upside, but the arrival of Parker could curtail his minutes.
Jun 28 - 12:06 AM

The Bucks said that Giannis Antetokounmpo has grown to 6'11" and 217 pounds.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone considering he was just 18 years old last season. He listed at 6’9", 205 last year and it’s kind of hard to believe he was playing shooting guard. The league caught up to Antetokounmpo after he started out somewhat hot when the Bucks let him loose, but he showed some serious potential. If the Bucks do take Duke forward Jabari Parker, it should be interesting to see how they use the Greek Freak. He is an intriguing pick late in fantasy drafts for his upside.
Jun 25 - 3:11 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo was named to the All-Rookie Second Team on Thursday.

His rookie numbers were not overly impressive, he only averaged 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 24.6 minutes of action, but his upside could be the highest among his entire rookie class. At 19 years old, the 6'9 shooting guard is still growing and developing as a basketball player. Other members of the All-Rookie Second Team include the Celtics' Kelly Olynyk, Thunder's Steven Adams, Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng, and the Hornets' Cody Zeller.
