In his second and final preseason game, Giannis Antetokounmpo piled up 17 points, six rebounds, six assists, one steal and five blocked shots in just 27 minutes.
Giannis recorded two of his blocks on the same possession vs. Andre Drummond (see link below), and he came within two swats of his career-high seven blocks vs. the Bulls last December. Antetokounmpo sat out EuroBasket this summer due to a vague knee injury, but it never sounded serious. He's on the brink of a phenomenal fantasy campaign and is in the discussion for the No. 1 pick in most formats. Oct 14 - 12:09 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo made his 2017 preseason debut on Friday with 24 points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes.

After missing EuroBasket for a knee issue, we got our first look at what should be an even better offensive version of the Greek Freak. His jumper looked extra silky in this game and he was shooting off the bounce with confidence (example in video below). Even just the threat of Antetokounmpo being an average shooter should make him even better around the basket, which could put him in elite territory on efficiency for high-volume guys. The 22-year-old All-Star's upside can't be seen with the naked eye.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (personal) will make his preseason debut Friday vs. the Bulls.

Antetokounmpo missed the Bucks first two preseason games, as he was away from the team due to the death of his father. Coach Jason Kidd said that Giannis would likely play fewer than 20 minutes. The sky is the limit for Antetokounmpo this season. Just 22 years old, he led the Bucks in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks in 2016-17. A strong case could be made for him as the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts this year.
Oct 6 - 1:11 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (personal) will not play against the Pacers on Wednesday.

He went through his normal pregame warmup before this game, but coach Jason Kidd will hold him out. Antetokounmpo was away from the team due to the passing of his father, so it's great to see he is on the right track to get back on the court. He should be considered questionable for Friday's game against the Bulls.
Oct 4 - 6:31 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (personal) was back at practice on Wednesday.

Antetokounmpo recently took some time away from the team due to the passing of his father, but him going through Wednesday morning's shootaround suggests that his preseason debut should be right around the corner. The Greek Freak should only continue to get better during his age-23 season, so you could easily justify taking him No. 1 overall on draft day.
Oct 4 - 2:01 PM

Coach Jason Kidd said there is no timetable for Giannis Antetokounmpo (personal) to return to the team following the death of his father.

Obviously, the Bucks will give their young superstar all the time he needs to grieve. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Antetokounmpo family. Sterling Brown started in place of Giannis in the Bucks preseason game on Monday night and was scoreless (0-9) in 27 minutes.
Oct 3 - 9:16 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (personal) will not play on Monday vs. the Mavericks.

His father passed away a couple days ago, so he's obviously not with the team. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Antetokounmpo family. Sterling Brown will draw the start in his absence and coach Jason Kidd told Giannis to take as much time away from the team as he needs.
Oct 2 - 1:45 PM

Bucks GM Jon Horst said there's no concern about Giannis Antetokounmpo's knee.

He admitted that there was an issue earlier in the offseason (the reason he didn't play for Greece), but added that he's fine now. Coach Jason Kidd also said that Antetokounmpo will be a full go in training camp. Still only 22, Giannis is a candidate to go No. 1 in a lot of fantasy drafts with the knee concerns behind him and should make a serious push for the MVP Award this season.
Sep 25 - 12:47 PM

The Greek basketball federation has accused the Bucks of staging Giannis Antetokounmpo's knee injury to keep him out of Eurobasket.

"We, on our side, did everything not to give the Bucks an excuse," Takis Tsagronis (the federation general secretary) said. "We took a magnetic scan of Giannis' leg and it was clean. What the Bucks claim is not the reality; something else is happening." Giannis recently visited with Bucks Head of Strength and Conditioning Suki Hobson and was put through a series of exercises to evaluate his knee, and it was determined that he was still "experiencing significant pain on basic movements." The NBA issued a statement backing up the Bucks, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. According to Bucks GM John Horst, Giannis is scheduled to return to Milwaukee this week "to begin his daily treatment and rehabilitation program in order to be ready for Bucks Training Camp."
Aug 20 - 10:20 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) announced on his Facebook page that he is currently unable to practice and will not play for Greece at Eurobasket.

We first learned that Antetokounmpo was dealing with "knee discomfort" earlier this month, as he was unable to practice for five days in preparation for Eurobasket. However, he reportedly had an MRI, which came back clean, and it appeared the issue was behind him. Giannis played in Greece's next game, vs. Montenegro, last weekend, scoring 20 points. After that contest, he took off for a scheduled tour of China. At this point, we don't have any further details as to the extent of the injury. We'll pass along an update as soon as one is provided.
Aug 19 - 12:28 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) scored 20 points in a win over Montenegro on Friday.

The game was a warm-up for the Eurobasket. It's encouraging that Antetokounmpo suited up, as he had been sidelined due to a "minor knee injury" earlier this month. It was reported that Antetokounmpo had an MRI which revealed there was nothing wrong. The Greek Freak will not play for Team Greece next week, as he is touring China from August 15th through the 20th. Antetokounmpo will be one of the top draft picks in all fantasy formats this upcoming season.

He had an MRI on his knee, but the results showed there was nothing wrong. Antetokounmpo is with the Greek team for EuroBasket and is expected to resume activities this month. He is going to get a lot of attention for MVP and fantasy owners can look to draft him No. 1 overall in most formats.

Giannis Antetokounmpo said he could be the league MVP next season.

Confidence is key, and based on Antetokounmpo's performance from his 2016-17 campaign, he could certainly be in the MVP discussion next season if the Bucks are able to emerge as one of the top-tier team out East. The Greek Freak ranked No. 5 overall last season behind averages of 22.9 points, 8.8 boards, 5.4 dimes, 1.7 steals, 1.9 blocks and 2.9 turnovers per game on 52.2 percent shooting, and he should be able to improve upon those numbers in his fifth NBA season.
Aug 2 - 11:27 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo won the 2017 Most Improved Player Award.

Giannis led the Bucks to a sixth place finish in the East with a 42-40 record, earning a spot on the Eastern All-Star starting five in the process. The Greek Freak was a top-5 asset in standard leagues with averages of 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.9 blocks and 0.6 3-pointers on 52.2 percent shooting, becoming the first player in NBA history to finish in the top 20 in total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Entering his age-23 season, you can make a strong argument of taking him with the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts.
Jun 26 - 10:22 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points in a season-ending 92-89 loss to the Raptors on Thursday, adding nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, two blocks, one 3-pointer and three turnovers in 47 minutes.

He was extremely aggressive early in this game, going 5-of-5 from the field with all of those shots coming in the paint. The Bucks offense was not very successful outside of the Giannis drives in the first half, making just 3-of-17 outside of the paint in the first 24 minutes. Antetokounmpo also only checked out with 6:26 left in the second, sat out for 81 seconds, and played the rest of the game. He reached superstardom this season and he'll be in the mix for the No. 1 pick in drafts next year. He's still just 22, so he could get even better. Let your imagination run wild with how good he could be.
