Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play for the Greek national team in the World Cup Qualifiers in June, but is expected to participate in the second-round matches held in September.
Antetokounmpo dealt with some knee soreness while playing for Greece last summer, and that nagging issue sidelined him for a few games during the 2017-18 season. The Bucks would prefer their superstar get as much rest as possible this summer, but ultimately it is up to the player to decide. May 29 - 12:51 PM

New Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said he plans to push Giannis Antetokounmpo and that Antetokounmpo is "going to get a lot better."

Antetokounmpo was unstoppable at times last season. He finished the season averaging 26.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks. Incredibly, Giannis is still just 23 years old. Coach Budenholzer wants the Greek Freak to take his game to the next level. "He's a smart player," Budenholzer said. "I think together, he and I will probably push each other. But I look forward to pushing him. He believes it, I believe it. He's going to get a lot better."

The Bucks plan to interview Spurs assistant Becky Hammon for the franchise’s head coaching job, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

This is great news in the coaching vacancy search as Hammon could get her first interview. She's still viewed as the fourth assistant on the Spurs with the three ahead of her all getting interviewed, as well (Messina, Borrego, Udoka). While it would be a great story and she almost certainly will be a coach one day, Hammon is still very new at coaching and may have to earn her stripes for a little longer. Although, she was a smashing success in Summer League a few years ago with a title.

Unlike last summer, Giannis Antetokounmpo said he'll have more time to rest his knee this offseason.

"I’ve got to make sure for next year there’s no issues with my knees, ankles, taking care of my body well," Giannis said. "Of course I’m going to spend a lot of time on the court working on what I’ve got to work on." Four out of the seven games Giannis sat this season were just maintenance days for his right knee soreness, but it sounds like it may not be a concern in 2018-19. As for his offseason plans, Giannis hopes to work on his footwork with Kobe Bryant and improve his jumper. As fantasy owners know, Giannis is a 3-point shot away from becoming unfair.
May 3 - 12:46 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 22 points with nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 42 minutes during a 112-96 Game 7 loss to the Celtics on Saturday.

He was in foul trouble in the first half with his third foul coming in the middle of the second quarter, but he was still able to log big minutes. This was a rough one for GA with Semi Ojeleye as an unsung hero for this series with how he defended Giannis in the last three games, especially today. Antetokounmpo's age-23 season went about as well as it could have offensively for scoring at his 26.9 points per game, but his defensive stats, assists and free throw shooting dropped off slightly. He's still going to be a top-three target next year in fantasy drafts. Additionally, the Bucks have some work to do to give him some help.

Giannis Antetokounmpo made 13-of-23 from the field for 31 points during a 97-86 Game 6 win over the Celtics on Thursday, adding 14 rebounds, four assists, two steals and no turnovers in 41 minutes.

As Zaza Pachulia would say, we're going to Game 7, baby. After Giannis attempted just 10 attempts from the field in Game 5, he had the killer instinct again for his third 30-point game in this series. He continues to see some time at the five with the Bucks going no center for 12 minutes tonight. Antetokounmpo did look slightly tired at times in this game, which makes sense because he's logged a whopping 122 minutes in the last three games. On Saturday, the Bucks will have a tough task on their hands as they try to win one at Boston after going 0-of-3 in the previous three chances.
Apr 26 - 10:45 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo hit 5-of-10 shots and 6-of-9 free throws to finish with 16 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and two blocks in 41 minutes of Tuesday's Game 5 loss to the Celtics.

Giannis didn't score a lot tonight, but he also wasn't involved all that much, taking just 10 shots in 41 minutes. And while the Celtics defense deserves some credit on that end, it's unacceptable that the Bucks didn't feed him more tonight. Look for that game plan to change on Thursday in Milwaukee, when the Bucks will try to stop the Celtics and force a Game 7, which would take place in Boston.
Apr 24 - 10:08 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo came through with 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two turnovers in Milwaukee's 104-102 win over Boston on Sunday.

The Bucks successfully protected their home court, evening up their first-round series with the Celtics at two apiece, and The Greek Freak came through with some huge buckets in the clutch including a game-winning tip-in with 5 seconds left. He did tweak his ankle during the fourth quarter after coming down on Aron Baynes’ foot, but his ankle didn’t turn all that much and he played through it, so he should be fine for Tuesday’s Game 5 in Boston.
Apr 22 - 3:51 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 19 points with five rebounds, six assists, two steals, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes during a win over the Celtics on Game 3 on Friday.

For the umpteenth time, Giannis put Aron Baynes on a poster with a highlight-reel jam in the second half (video in link below). As expected, the Bucks did go with some Giannis at the five today, but it wasn't long because Thon Maker was hot. Giannis didn't get to the line today and his usage did drop overall. He'll likely have a bigger offensive output in Game 4 on Sunday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was awesome again, hitting 13-of-17 shots for 30 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, a steal and a block in 43 minutes as the Bucks fell into an 0-2 hole against the Celtics on Tuesday.

Giannis and Khris Middleton (25 points) combined to hit 23-of-31 shots and the Bucks shot 60 percent from the floor for the game, but the Celtics still ran away with an impressive 120-106 win to take a 2-0 lead. Giannis has now scored at least 30 points in four straight playoff games, including last season's first-round loss to the Raptors. The Bucks will try to figure out how to beat Boston in Milwaukee on Friday, which has basically become a must-win game for the Bucks.
Apr 17 - 10:36 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 35 points in Sunday's 113-107 Game 1 overtime loss to the Celtics.

Before fouling out in OT, Giannis racked up 13 boards, seven assists, and three steals on 11-of-21 shooting—including 12-of-14 from the free throw line—in his 45 minutes. The craziest part? The Celtics actually did a good job containing the superstar, something we don't say often when a player goes for a 35/13/7 line. As an aside, it's not a good sign for the Bucks that the team lost their opening playoff game with Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton combining for 66 points on 23-of-41 (56.1%) shooting.

Coach Brad Stevens said it's not going to be one person guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo.

"We have to throw a lot of different bodies at him," Stevens said. Al Horford figures to be a big part of the plan and Stevens was also asked about it. "I trust Al Horford to guard any position on the floor with his athleticism and attention to detail," said the coach. It's no secret the key to Boston's success will be to limit Giannis.
Apr 13 - 6:49 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) played 22 minutes during Wednesday's blowout loss, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds, three assists and five turnovers.

The Bucks ran into a buzzsaw in Philly and the loss may have been particularly costly -- if they lose a coin flip for draft order on Friday, their first-round pick will transfer to Phoenix. In any case, they have to be thrilled that Giannis is healthy for the postseason. "We definitely know we can’t win the whole thing without [Antetokounmpo]," Eric Bledsoe said recently. Their first task will be defeating the injury-depleted Celtics in the first round.
Apr 11 - 11:51 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) will play Wednesday vs. the 76ers.

Antetokounmpo has spent the past two games on the sidelines with matchups against some of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference (Orlando and New York), but he'll be back in action tonight for an important matchup against the 76ers which can affect the seeding of both teams. Considering he only missed two games, he should see a full complement of minutes tonight, and his return to action will likely push Jabari Parker back to the second unit.
Apr 11 - 11:30 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (right ankle soreness) will not play on Monday vs. the Magic.

This will be Giannis' second straight game on the sidelines. Coach Joe Prunty said he's waiting for him to be strong enough where he can do everything they need him to do on the court, but he reportedly looked really good in warmups. For now, consider Giannis questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Philly. Jabari Parker will draw another start and Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton will have more on their plate offensively.
