Giannis Antetokounmpo logged 51 minutes against the Bulls during a double-overtime 113-106 loss on Thursday, scoring 25 points with 12 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three turnovers.
He was red hot in the beginning of the game and entered halftime with 17 points. Antetokounmpo scored just six points in Game 2 and he was extremely aggressive in this loss, but he was tightly defended for most of his shots in the second half and in OT. Looking ahead, the big question for the Greek Freak this summer will be if he can develop a jumper. Last year, we were all hoping he'd perform better at the rim to improve his efficiency and he didn't let us down, so he certainly is capable of extending his range. He's 20 years old. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored just six points during a 91-82 loss to the Bulls on Monday, adding 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks on 2-of-11 from the field.

The Bulls were able to keep him out of the paint and he was a little hesitant in transition. Antetokounmpo made just 4-of-13 from the field in Game 1 and he averaged just 9.8 points on 41.7 percent from the field against the Bulls in four regular season games, so his offensive struggles don't come as a surprise. He'll look to improve at home for Game 3 on Thursday.
Apr 20 - 10:47 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo hit just 1-of-6 shots for three points, three rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's loss to the Celtics to end Milwaukee's regular season.

Michael Carter-Williams wasn't much better, hitting 2-of-8 shots for seven points, five rebounds and five assists. The two came in playing pretty well, so tonight's meltdowns were a surprise. Both of them should be back and ready to go for the playoffs, which will start on Saturday when the Bucks visit the Bulls.
Apr 16 - 12:24 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 12 points with seven rebounds, three assists and one turnover in 34 minutes against the 76ers on Monday.

Coach Jason Kidd said today that he's not going to rest players in the season finale even though the Bucks have nothing to play for. Antetokounmpo isn't having a strong finish to his season, averaging 14.0 points, 7.0 boards, 2.8 assists, 0.3 steals and no treys on 38.8 percent from the field in his last four. He'll look to turn it around against the Celtics on Wednesday.
Apr 14 - 12:39 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a well-rounded game vs. the Nets on Sunday with 13 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block.

He played 30 minutes and ideally this wouldn't be worth reporting, but it warrants attention after Jason Kidd inexplicably gave Giannis a DNP-CD on Wednesday. The news that Jared Dudley is likely to sit out the Bucks' final two games suggests that Antetokounmpo will be playing all the minutes he can handle at SF.
Apr 12 - 5:50 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to the lineup after Wednesday's mysterious DNP-Kidd, scoring 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting (9-of-11 FTs) with nine rebounds and one block in 31 minutes.

Antetokounmpo left the locker room without talking to reporters and that will only add to the intrigue here, but fantasy owners should be relatively optimistic that whatever the issue was isn't going to be an issue going forward.
Apr 11 - 12:55 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo will return to the starting lineup for Friday's game vs. the Knicks.

The best explanation for why Antetokounmpo sat out Wednesday's game was it was head coach Jason Kidd's decision, and we're not going to get a much better answer than that. It is what it is, and he'll be back with the starters tonight. Go ahead and get him active. Jared Dudley will head back to the bench, and he's not worth owning in most leagues.
Apr 10 - 11:38 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo went through a full practice on Thursday, and he is expected to play Friday vs. the Knicks.

The world may never know exactly why Giannis picked up a DNP-CD on Wednesday, but it sounds like he'll be back in action on Friday with a favorable matchup against the Knicks. Giannis said he'll use Wednesday's benching as motivation, so he may have a big night tomorrow in New York. Still, owners should check back for another update on Alphabet closer to Friday's tip.
Apr 9 - 2:29 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo said he wasn't aware of coach Jason Kidd's decision to give him a DNP-CD.

Yep, sounds about right. Kidd didn't play Giannis in the second half of a game earlier this season in order to give Nate Wolters a going-away party before the Bucks cut him and he also didn't share info on Khris Middleton's DNP-CD from earlier this season. This is pretty much par for the course for the Bucks.
Apr 8 - 11:56 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo will get a DNP-CD against the Cavs on Wednesday, according to the Bucks broadcast.

We're not big fans of coach Jason Kidd around here. He said there was going to be a change with the starting lineup, but Kidd decided to just keep Antetokounmpo out entirely. This is the second time Kidd was secretive with Giannis and it probably won't be the last. Jared Dudley started in his place, but had just five points in the loss.
Apr 8 - 8:44 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo will come off the Bucks' bench on Wednesday with Jared Dudley moving into the starting lineup.

It's not at all clear why Jason Kidd is moving Giannis to a backup role -- he's started 67 games this season, compared to 10 games as a reserve, and was averaging only 23.6 minutes while coming off the bench. Fantasy owners shouldn't panic as this may be a one-game experiment or the result of minor disciplinary action, and all Kidd said was that he is "just making a change." We'll pass along updates once Kidd offers more details.
Apr 8 - 6:30 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (nasal contusion) struggled in Saturday's loss to the Magic, scoring eight points with three boards and one block in 28 minutes.

He briefly left the game early on the first quarter, but he quickly returned and shouldn't be in any danger of missing any action. Tonight was actually the first time that the Greek Freak was held to single-digit scoring since Mar. 7 against the Wizards, so his owners should cut him some slack. Expect Antetokounmpo to bounce back vs. the Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Apr 4 - 11:55 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo (nasal contusion) briefly left Saturday's game vs. the Magic, but he is available to return.

It was never expected to be anything serous and his owners can breathe easy. Expect another update after the game.
Apr 4 - 8:55 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 18 points on 7-of-9 from the field against the Hawks on Monday during a 101-88 loss with six boards and four assists in 38 minutes.

He only had a 14.6 usage rate despite that incredible efficiency while his point guard continues to take too many bad shots. Antetokounmpo has really turned into a consistent scorer this month, averaging 16.2 points on 51.5 percent from the field in his previous March games. His ceiling is insane.
Mar 31 - 12:48 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 16 points on 7-of-10 from the field against the Pacers on Thursday with four boards, two assists and one block in 43 minutes.

He’s really honed in on how to score, which explains why he’s been so much better with respect to efficiency like tonight. In his previous March games, Antetokounmpo attempted 69.4 percent of his shots in the paint. That helped him get to 49.7 percent from the field with averages of 16.6 points, 8.2 boards, 2.7 assists, 1.0 assists, 1.7 blocks and 0.2 treys. If he develops his jumper, the sky is the limit.
