Isaiah Canaan played just eight minutes against the Jazz during a 104-93 win on Wednesday with three points, one rebound and one 3-pointer.
Patrick Beverley (hamstring) could miss time, so Canaan could be in line for more minutes. He still won't be very busy with the ball because James Harden is in complete control of the offense. Canaan is only a speculative add in deep leagues. Oct 30 - 1:05 AM

Isaiah Canaan played just 7 minutes in a win against the Lakers on Tuesday, and ended up with two points and one rebound.

The Rockets just recently waived Ish Smith so we were expecting Canaan to get more minutes than this. Patrick Beverly is still injury-prone and if he does go down with an injury, Canaan would be worth a flier especially in deeper leagues. Canaan is off the fantasy radar at the moment.
Oct 29 - 9:15 AM

Isaiah Canaan scored 18 points against the Spurs on Friday with five boards, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers.

Coach Kevin McHale said he'd give Canaan more run tonight, so only getting 20 minutes is kind of a bad sign. He won't have fantasy value while Patrick Beverley is healthy.
Oct 24 - 10:38 PM

Isaiah Canaan led a huge comeback during a 90-89 win over the Magic on Friday with 14 points, two assists and one 3-pointer in 14 minutes.

He's likely going to be the third point guard behind Ish Smith, so fantasy owners can leave Canaan on the waiver wire.
Oct 22 - 9:43 PM

Isaiah Canaan scored 16 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 5-of-12 shots with three rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes.

Canaan and Ish Smith are vying for the No. 2 point guard slot and Canaan had the better night tonight as Smith had just three points and two assists in a bad night. Both are waiver wire fodder in all formats.
Oct 14 - 1:06 AM

Isaiah Canaan and Robert Covington were reassigned on Monday to the Rockets' development league affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Canaan and Covington were recalled on Friday and are now being sent back to the D-league to keep their legs fresh. There is a good chance both will be back with the team during the postseason, especially if Canaan's services are needed to spell Patrick Beverley who is nursing a sore knee.
Apr 21 - 5:02 PM

The Rockets recalled Isaiah Canaan and Robert Covington on Friday.

The two were sent down to the D-League to get extra playing time. Canaan played well in the loss, scoring a game-high 25 points and he will continue to be the Rockets third-string point guard behind Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin.
Apr 18 - 3:26 PM

Isaiah Canaan hit 6-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 15 points and one assist on Tuesday.

The game was a blowout and Patrick Beverley was out, meaning Canaan got plenty of minutes in the second half. However, he did the same thing on Sunday in an OT win, and as long as Beverley is out, Canaan is worth a deep-league look.
Apr 9 - 1:25 AM

Rockets rookie Isaiah Canaan scored a career-high 15 points during Sunday's comeback OT victory, making 5-of-8 shots with four makes from beyond the arc.

Jeremy Lin scored 19 points with five assists and three steals in 34 minutes, but the value of both PGs is tenuous given that Patrick Beverley (knee) remains day-to-day. If you're still considering Canaan as a pickup, be aware that he's scored double-digit points twice all season.
Apr 6 - 10:06 PM

Isaiah Canaan played 20 minutes vs. the Clippers on Saturday with 14 points, four boards, three assists and two 3-pointers.

He played a little more than expected because Chris Paul made Jeremy Lin look awful on both ends. Canaan figures to get minutes in the high teens, but he'll be worth a look in deep leagues for his output in steals and treys.
Mar 29 - 11:23 PM

Isaiah Canaan will likely be in the rotation for the Rockets for the rest of the season.

Pat Beverley (knee) is out for the year and Jeremy Lin can't play 48 minutes, so Canaan will step in. Lin played 33.7 minutes per game in his 14 games as the starter at point guard when Beverley broke his hand. That serves as a fair expectation for him again, which means Canaan is looking at about 14 minutes per game. Extrapolating his season averages would put him at around 6.5 points, 0.8 triples and 1.5 steals. Adjust accordingly.
Mar 28 - 3:07 PM

Rockets re-called PG Isaiah Canaan from the D-League.

One of the reasons the Rockets were comfortable trading away Aaron Brooks was the development of Canaan. He'll do fine as seldom-used third point guard.
Feb 21 - 12:56 PM

Isaiah Canaan was re-assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

He's had some success in the D-League and his style of play will eventually fit right in with the Rockets. Canaan is a little like James Harden for his attacking style mixed with some 3-point range, but he's not going to have an impact in fantasy leagues yet.
Feb 18 - 12:36 AM

The Rockets will call up Isaiah Canaan for their next game against the Mavericks on Monday.

He has been one of the best players in the D-League, ranking seventh in points per game and second in assists per game with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He will just serve as emergency depth behind Aaron Brooks while Jeremy Lin is out and this news only concerns owners in very deep leagues.

The Rockets have sent Isaiah Canaan to the NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Canaan was the Rockets' 34th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and will get some needed minutes to develop in the D-League. He'll also have company on his journey to join the Vipers as the Rockets have also sent forward Robert Covington to the D-League team.
