Dennis Schroder scored 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting on Sunday, adding three boards, three assists and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes.
Jeff Teague (15 points, six dimes in 26 minutes) didn't fare well tonight but his play has improved recently, along with his sore ankle, which is limiting Schroder's opportunities. It will take a trade for Schroder to emerge as more than a low-end source of 3-pointers, assists and steals. Jan 31 - 9:17 PM

Date:

Dennis Schroder played 14 minutes against the Pacers on Thursday with five points, one rebound and two assists.

Jeff Teague may finally be coming out of his slump, so Schroder's playing time should shrink. Still, this was a bad loss for the Hawks and Schroder is playing well, so he's still a fine stash until the trade deadline.
Jan 28 - 10:13 PM

Dennis Schroder played just 17 minutes against the Clippers on Wednesday with seven points, four rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer.

It's the least amount of responsibility he's had in quite some time because Jeff Teague played well. With the rumors heating up on the Hawks possibly trading a point guard, it makes a lot of sense to stash Schroder in most leagues until the trade deadline.
Jan 27 - 11:13 PM

Dennis Schroder played well in Monday's win over the Nuggets, scoring 15 points with five boards, five assists and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes.

Schroder replaced Jeff Teague down the stretch in the previous two games, but Teague's ankle looked a lot better tonight and he responded with a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. Coach Mike Budenholzer already ruled out a lineup change and has been hesitant to use two-PG lineups, so Schroder is more of a low-end asset while Teague is healthy.
Jan 26 - 12:01 AM

Dennis Schroder scored 19 points with one rebound, five assists, two steals, one block, three turnovers and three 3-pointers in 24 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

After closing out Thursday, he closed out yet another game and he is really starting to close the gap on Jeff Teague. Schroder has clearly outplayed Teague, who just isn't doing the little things and running the offense like he used to. There's still nothing official on him starting, but he'll have value with 22-25 minutes. He's worth a long look in standard leagues now.
Jan 23 - 11:39 PM

Dennis Schroder scored 12 points with three rebounds, four assists, one steal, one 3-pointer and six turnovers against the Kings on Thursday.

He did play down the stretch, but he didn't exactly do anything to earn more minutes late. The six turnovers have to be a tough pill to swallow and Schroder is still likely going to be the backup. He's still more of a stash and has been clinging to top-150 value this month.
Jan 22 - 12:56 AM

Dennis Schroder had a rough game vs. Portland, committing five turnovers with five assists, three rebounds, two steals and eight points on 3-of-13 shooting.

The opportunities were there but Schroder couldn't cash in offensively. Jeff Teague wasn't too much better with 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting in 29 minutes, and this quasi minute-share looks like it's here to stay. Schroder is worth a look if you need assists with a handful of 3-pointers and steals.
Jan 21 - 1:37 AM

Dennis Schroder scored six points with two rebounds, eight assists and three turnovers in 18 minutes against the Magic on Monday.

While his numbers have been very good lately, it's largely due to garbage time. In his previous six fourth quarters, Schroder put up a 79.7 true shooting percentage with his 26.8 usage rate. Without the fourth quarter, his numbers wouldn't be very attractive. Schroder should be viewed as a high-end stash and is kind of a sell-high player with his inflated value in the fourth quarter.
Jan 18 - 7:40 PM

Dennis Schroder double-doubled off the bench on Saturday with 15 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and two 3-pointers on 6-of-9 shooting in 20 minutes.

He looked fantastic in this one, although garbage time was a factor, but with Jeff Teague struggling, Schroder appears to be coming on. He's averaging 12.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 3-pointers on 50 percent shooting over his last five games. He should cool off again if Teague ever gets it going, but he's playing well enough right now to deserve a flier look in many leagues.
Jan 17 - 1:59 AM

Dennis Schroder played 19 minutes with 16 points, five rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers against the Bucks on Friday.

He is playing well, but it's not like Jeff Teague is going to lose his starting job. Plus, Schroder has played a combined 13 minutes next to Teague in his last five games. He's a high-end stash with some stand-alone value.
Jan 16 - 12:29 AM

Dennis Schroder played 21 minutes with 13 points, five rebounds, eight assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers against the Bulls on Saturday.

He did play two minutes next to Jeff Teague, which doesn't too often -- only about a minute per game average in the past month. Teague did have a minor ankle tweak, but he did return. Schroder would be a speculative add if Teague's ankle swells up on him. He's actually put together a few good games in a row, so he's worth a look anyway.
Jan 9 - 8:04 PM

Dennis Schroder scored 14 points in 19 minutes against the 76ers on Thursday, adding four rebounds, six assists, two steal and two 3-pointers.

After two DNP-CDs, Schroder's played well on Tuesday and tonight. He did play down the stretch on Tuesday and has actually fared well next to the other starters this year. In fact, Schroder along with the other non-Teague starters have a net rating of 23.9 this season in 40 minutes -- the starters are minus-2.7. Schroder doesn't quite pass the eye test and he's not getting minutes next to Teague, so he's only a stash in deeper leagues.
Jan 7 - 10:06 PM

Dennis Schroder was back in the rotation on Tuesday after getting a couple games off and had seven points, four rebounds and eight assists on 3-of-8 shooting in 25 minutes.

Coach Mike Budenholzer was probably sick of answering questions about Schroder, who was never in the doghouse. Bud was simply taking a look at Shelvin Mack. But as long as Jeff Teague is healthy and starting, it's hard to imagine Schroder doing enough to help fantasy owners, unless you're in a very deep league.
Jan 6 - 12:14 AM

Coach Mike Budenholzer said Dennis Schroder is not in the doghouse and "keeps competing in practice."

"Part of it is Shelvin [Mack]'s busting his butt," Budenholzer said. Schroder was a DNP-CD for two straight games, so he's in the doghouse by our estimation. He'll likely claw his way out of the doghouse at some point, but something doesn't seem right for a guy who said he wanted to start back in October. He's not worth owning in most leagues while Jeff Teague is healthy while Mack is only worth a look in very deep leagues.
Jan 4 - 2:59 PM

Dennis Schroder picked up his second straight DNP-CD on Sunday vs. the Knicks.

Wow. Coach Mike Budenholzer said after his first DNP-CD that it was just a "coach's decision," but we're not buying that Shelvin Mack gives them a better chance to win games. Schroder must be in the doghouse right now, so there is no real reason to hold onto him unless you're in a deeper league.
