Dennis Schroder led Germany to an exhibition win vs. the Czech Republic on Saturday, scoring 18 points with eight assists and three rebounds.
The EuroBasket tournament officially begins on Sept. 5 and Schroder should get every opportunity to shine as Germany's lead guard. His speedy penetration collapsed the Czech defense throughout the second half and he's poised for a nice season if he can improve his shaky jumper -- he shot 35.1 percent from downtown but just 42.7 percent overall, struggling badly from mid-range. Fantasy owners should only approach him in deep leagues while Jeff Teague is healthy. Aug 9 - 4:46 PM

The Kings are "very interested" in backup point guard Dennis Schroder, according to team beat writer Ailene Voisin.

The Kings are "interested" in just about everyone on this side of the Equator. Schroder is under contract for this upcoming season, but we'd just thought we'd throw this out there because the Kings are the Kings. Schroder can make plays, but he can also make plays for the other team, too.

Dennis Schroder was limited by foul trouble during Tuesday's blowout loss, which he finished with four points on 2-of-7 shooting, one rebound, four assists and one turnover in 19 minutes.

The Hawks' second-year guard wasn't shy offensively in the series, racking up a team-high usage rate of 37.2 percent. Unfortunately, he shot below 40 percent from the field and had the third-lowest offensive rating among the Hawks, ahead of only Mike Muscala and Pero Antic. Schroder has imposing quickness but he needs to improve his jump shot this summer -- during the regular season he made 137-of-391 jumpers (35.0 percent) which allowed opponents to sag off and dare him to shoot.

Dennis Schroder played just three and a half minutes of Sunday's tight Game 3 loss against the Cavs.

Coach Mike Budenholzer went with 28 minutes for Shelvin Mack because he was so desperate for shooting, and while Mack was 5-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-7 from behind the 3-point line, it's hard to find an explanation for Schroder being glued to the bench. It will be interesting to see what happens to Schroder's playing time in a do-or-die Game 4.

May 25 - 9:36 AM

Dennis Schroder hit just 3-of-12 shots and missed all three of his 3-point attempts to finish with six points, five rebounds, seven assists and a steal in 25 minutes off the Hawks bench in Wednesday's dramatic win.

He only made three shots, but two of them were huge, as he hit a two-pointer to give the Hawks a 76-73 lead with 2:54 remaining, and then hit a runner to put his team up five (78-73) with just over two minutes left, which capped a crucial 14-0 run for the Hawks. He also missed the rim on a 3-point attempt that allowed Marcin Gortat to tie the game at 78 with 47 seconds left, and then missed a layup in traffic, when Al Horford bailed him out and won the game with a rebound and a put back with 1.9 seconds remaining. The Hawks now lead the series 3-2, and Schroder should continue to be the key bench player for the Hawks in the playoffs.
May 13 - 11:06 PM

Dennis Schroder played 29 minutes off the bench in Monday's Game 4 win, scoring 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds and eight assists.

Schroder isn't playing as well as those numbers indicate but he's playing well enough to be a much-needed part of the Hawks attack. Look at him as a value play in DFS formats.
May 11 - 9:38 PM

Dennis Schroder played down the stretch during a tough 103-101 loss to the Wizards on Saturday, finishing with 18 points, two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes.

Coach Mike Budenholzer was in a pickle for this one. His starters put his team in a hole of 20 points with seven minutes left in the fourth, so he went with his bench at that point. Shockingly, the Hawks bench along with Kyle Korver were able to bring the Hawks back and actually tied the game. Budenholzer made the right call here because Jeff Teague just couldn't get into an offensive rhythm, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds, seven assists, three steals and two turnovers on 5-of-15 from the field. Expect the starters to get normal minutes on Monday.
May 9 - 8:10 PM

Dennis Schroder scored 12 points with six assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes against the Nets on Wednesday.

He's having a bit of a coming-out party for those not too familiar with the NBA. Schroder scored 13 points in Game 1 and he's doing it with style. He's a very nice insurance policy to Jeff Teague, but his fantasy value will be capped as long as Teague is around.
Apr 22 - 10:22 PM

Dennis Schroder came off the bench and hit 9-of-13 shots and two 3-pointers for 21 points and zero assists in Wednesday's ugly loss to the Bulls.

The 60-game winners have lost four straight, not exactly ideal heading into the playoffs. They've got the No. 1 seed and will host the No. 8 Nets starting on Sunday. The good news for Hawks fans is that Paul Millsap was back (5 points in 27 minutes) and that none of the starters played more than 27 minutes tonight. Al Horford scored 14, and DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Teague each scored 10 on a night the Hawks blew an 18-point lead. They were up 60-42 in the third quarter, but Aaron Brooks went on a tear and the Bulls won a meaningless game for the Hawks. If they get by the Nets in Round 1, they'll face the winner of the Wizards-Raptors series in Round 2, so things couldn't have worked out better for Atlanta. They'll just have to figure out a way to get hot again in the playoffs, but they'll also be playing all their guys regular minutes come Sunday.
Apr 16 - 12:56 AM

Dennis Schroder (rest) and Pero Antic (illness) will not play against the Knicks on Monday.

The Hawks are calling it rest, so it doesn't sound like he aggravated anything. With Schroder out, Shelvin Mack should get some extra run.
Apr 13 - 6:45 PM

Dennis Schroder had 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in a fill-in start vs. the Wizards on Sunday.

He shot 6-of-16 from the field and didn't have any steals even though John Wall coughed up 10 turnovers. Jeff Teague was rested as a precaution today and he's expected to return for Monday's game vs. the Knicks, but the prospect of a blowout could lead to increased playing time for Schroder even if he does come off the bench. He's a reasonably safe option with two games left on the Hawks' schedule.
Apr 12 - 8:52 PM

Dennis Schroder (toe) played 19 minutes on Friday, scoring 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds and five assists.

Schroder more or less plays like he usually does and the only thing capping his upside is the toe injury. Chances are the Hawks will rest enough to key guys to give Schroder the opening he needs, but owners may want to expect a line like this and let anything more be icing on the cake.
Apr 10 - 11:52 PM

Dennis Schroder (toe) played 15 minutes off the bench on Tuesday, scoring six points with two rebounds, four assists and three turnovers in a blowout victory.

His toe was still sore and he was on a minute-limit tonight, which capped his productivity for fantasy owners. Schroder would be a fine option if his restriction is lifted, especially if Jeff Teague is rested down the stretch -- since mid-March he's averaging 13.0 points, 1.6 threes, 2.6 boards, 5.3 assists and 0.3 steals in just 23 minutes per game. His assists per game have jumped from 1.9 last season to 4.2 this season, the fifth-largest gain of any player in the NBA.
Apr 7 - 10:27 PM

Dennis Schroder (toe) expects to play around 15 minutes in his return to action on Tuesday vs. the Suns.

It's going to be difficult for Schroder to put up a worthwhile stat line playing limited minutes, so he's not a great guy to play tonight. His return to the rotation will cut into the minutes of Shelvin Mack, and Mack can be sent back to the wire in most leagues.
Apr 7 - 6:50 PM

Dennis Schroder (toe) is expected to return to action on Tuesday.

Schroder went through a full practice on Monday, and his return bodes well for the Hawks as it will allow Jeff Teague (ankle) some additional time to rest should Mike Budenholzer opt to go that route. We have a feeling he will.
