Mike Muscala (ankle) will not play on Monday vs. the Clippers.
This will be Muscala's fifth game in a row on the shelf, but he remains day-to-day. Kris Humphries and Mike Scott have both seen a bump in minutes recently, but not enough for standard-league owners to look their way. Muscala isn't worth stashing in most leagues right now, but that could change if the Hawks put Paul Millsap back on the trade block. Jan 23 - 9:50 AM

Date:

Mike Muscala (ankle) will not play Saturday vs. the Sixers.

This will be the fourth straight game that Muscala has missed. Both Mike Scott and Kris Humphries saw 20 minutes apiece off the Atlanta bench on Friday night. Although this is probably a situation to avoid, it is worth noting that Humphries is averaging 11.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 3-pointers over the Hawks last three games.
Jan 21 - 1:47 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) will not play against the Bulls on Friday.

It will be his third consecutive game out of the lineup due to his ankle sprain from Sunday. The Hawks turned to Kris Humphries to pick up most of the minutes as the backup big. He's played well in his last two, averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 boards and 2.0 treys in 22.0 minutes per game. Humphries probably won't be that good again, but give him a look if you're desperate for a big to stream. Mike Scott has also been in the rotation.
Jan 19 - 4:52 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.

Muscala's minutes will likely be divvied up between Kris Humphries and Mike Scott, but neither of those guys will get enough run to matter in most settings while Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard are healthy.
Jan 17 - 4:42 PM

Mike Muscala (left ankle) won't travel for Monday's game vs. the Knicks.

The Hawks play in Detroit on Wednesday, so there's a chance that Muscala will miss multiple games. Kris Humphries should see his role increase with Muscala on the shelf, but Atlanta also relied heavily on their swingmen after Muscala's injury on Sunday.
Jan 15 - 5:48 PM

Mike Muscala suffered a left ankle injury and he will not return to Sunday's game vs. the Bucks.

He was ruled out pretty quickly after being sent to the locker room, so we're going to consider him questionable for Monday's game against the Knicks. If he's out, Mike Scott could get into the rotation and Dwight Howard could see his minutes rise to the high-30s. Monday will be the second game of a back-to-back set, meaning Atlanta won't have a shootaround, so we likely won't get another update on Muscala until closer to Monday's tip.
Jan 15 - 3:38 PM

Mike Muscala scored 11 points with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer in 21 minutes during a 97-82 win over the Mavs on Saturday.

It'll be interesting to see what the Hawks do with Muscala. Coach Mike Budenholzer cooled off on Moose as a four lately, but you would think he would slide over there should Paul Millsap get traded. He's a solid stash in deeper leagues.
Jan 8 - 12:24 AM

Mike Muscala started the third quarter against the Wolves on Wednesday, finishing with 16 points, four rebounds, one steal and three 3-pointers.

He tied his career high in 3-pointers and was also red hot to start the third quarter with the Hawks' first eight points of the frame. Dwight Howard (back) isn't likely going to miss too much time, so Muscala's effective game may not carry over to Friday. If Howard is out, Muscala would be a popular DFS punt or a stream in seasonal leagues.

Mike Muscala started the third quarter over Kyle Korver on Wednesday.

It was an obvious more to make for coach Mike Budenholzer after his team started extremely slow. Plus, no Tim Hardaway Jr. (groin) suggests he needs more wings on his bench. Dwight Howard (back) is only day-to-day, so Muscala is only a short-term add.
Wed, Dec 21, 2016 08:52:00 PM

Mike Muscala will return to the bench for Monday's matchup with the Thunder.

Paul Millsap (hip) is back in the starting five, so Muscala will return to a 20-minute reserve role. Muscala doesn't really hurt you anywhere, but he also doesn't really help you in any one category either. He's more of a roto-league guy.

Mike Muscala started in Saturday's ugly loss to the Raptors but hit just 3-of-7 shots for seven points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, a block and a 3-pointer in 24 minutes.

He filled up the stat sheet, but with tiny numbers. Paul Millsap should be back momentarily from his hip injury, so Muskie doesn't really deserve too much of a look in fantasy leagues right now.
Sat, Dec 3, 2016 10:51:00 PM

Mike Muscala is listed as the starter at power forward against the Raptors on Saturday.

In case you missed it, Paul Millsap (hip) is out again tonight. After the Hawks were crushed in the first half on Friday with Thabo Sefolosha at the four, Muscala is the favorite to start. He was awful with no points in his last start on Wednesday, but he should have a great chance to perform tonight.
Sat, Dec 3, 2016 05:30:00 PM

Mike Muscala started the second half of Friday's game vs. the Pistons, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with two steals, one assist and one triple in 24 minutes.

Paul Millsap (hip) was out and will miss at least one more game, but the Hawks started a small-ball lineup with Thabo Sefolosha at the four. That obviously didn't work, so Muscala is a candidate to start on Saturday vs. the Raptors which puts him on the radar in deeper formats and in DFS.
Sat, Dec 3, 2016 12:58:00 AM

Mike Muscala started Wednesday's game in place of Paul Millsap (left hip), but he went scoreless with three rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 29 minutes.

Muscala has been terrific and coach Mike Budenholzer has used him as a fill-in starter at both PF and C this season. He's quietly posting late-round value in just 21.4 minutes per game, averaging 9.1 points (56.8 percent FGs, 76.7 percent FTs) with 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.6 blocks, 0.5 steals and 0.8 threes. Despite tonight's dud, Muscala is still worth a look if you're in need of a cheap big man.
Thu, Dec 1, 2016 01:30:00 AM

Mike Muscala will start for Paul Millsap (hip) on Wednesday against the Suns.

He is getting plenty of minutes at both big spots and the Hawks have used him next to Dwight Howard, so this isn't totally foreign territory. Muscala has been one of the most efficient players in the NBA and becomes a solid option while Millsap is out. Millsap is only day-to-day, so Muscala only gets a bump in the short term.
