Mike Muscala started for John Collins (ankle) and hit 3-of-9 shots and two 3-pointers for eight points, five rebounds, two steals and a block in 30 minutes of Tuesday's shocking 99-94 win at Utah.
The win snapped the No. 8 Jazz's nine-game winning streak and leaves them clinging to playoff life with a two-game lead over the No. 9 Nuggets in the West. Muskie was solid, but once Collins returns he'll go back to being a somewhat risky fantasy play on a nightly basis. Muscala is averaging 10.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 1.0 blocks and 2.0 3-pointers over his last five though, so we were expecting a little more tonight. Mar 20 - 11:34 PM

Mike Muscala will start in place of John Collins (ankle) on Tuesday vs. the Jazz.

Collins is also expected to sit out on Thursday, but could be back for Friday's game vs. the Warriors. That means Muscala is likely looking at two fill-in starts. With per-36 minute averages of 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks and 2.0 triples, he's worth a look as a short-term pickup. Tonight's matchup is brutal, though.
Mar 20 - 7:39 PM

Mike Muscala scored 12 points with six rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Bucks on Saturday.

John Collins went down with an ankle injury and it's no secret the Hawks are in the mix for the lottery, so Collins could miss time. Muscala has put up some nice numbers over his last five, averaging 11.0 points, 5.8 boards, 0.8 blocks, 0.8 steals and 2.2 treys in 23.0 minutes per game. That's already something that is worth owning, so he may be worth an add if you need a 3-point big.
Mar 17 - 9:02 PM

Mike Muscala was held to five points on 2-of-7 shooting Thursday, adding seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 19 minutes.

Muscala has quietly been getting it done for roto owners since the All-Star break, averaging 9.4 points on 46.2% FGs and 92.3% FTs, with 1.4 triples, 4.6 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks. Tonight's line would have been better if he made more shots, but ultimately it comes down to playing time -- with John Collins, Dewayne Dedmon, Tyler Cavanaugh and Muscala all sharing the frontcourt, some inconsistency is a given.
Mar 15 - 10:35 PM

Mike Muscala scored a career-high 19 points vs. Chicago on Sunday, making 7-of-9 shots with five 3-pointers, five rebounds and one block in 23 minutes.

This was a dream matchup vs. a terrible Bulls defense, and exaggerated stats were abundant. The rebounds and assists were season-highs, and Muscala's five 3-pointers were also a career-high, so congratulations to the handful of owners who deployed him on Sunday. We're not expecting a repeat performance, at least while Dewayne Dedmon and John Collins are healthy.
Mar 11 - 6:42 PM

Mike Muscala helped the Hawks earn a stunning comeback win on Sunday with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, six rebounds, three 3-pointers and one assist in 23 minutes.

There was a bizarre sequence late in the game when Kent Bazemore (19 points) was accidentally awarded two free throws, rather than three. The refs recognized the mistake after New York had scored, which erased the Knicks' two points while giving the Hawks an extra point. Weird. Muscala played ahead of John Collins down the stretch, but he benefited from the absence of Ersan Ilyasova (illness) and isn't worth owning outside of very deep leagues.
Feb 4 - 4:05 PM

Mike Muscala started the third quarter against the Hornets on Wednesday, finishing with six points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes.

Chances are he started the second half because the Hawks were down big. Muscala could find himself getting more minutes soon, but there's really no reason to add him until players start to be dealt.
Jan 31 - 10:59 PM

Mike Muscala picked up a DNP-CD on Wednesday.

Muscala missed over a month with a serious ankle injury, but it's unclear why the Hawks continue to list him on the injury report -- he's healthy and cleared to play. As long as Dewayne Dedmon, John Collins and Miles Plumlee are around, though, there's no reason for owners to bother with Muscala.
Jan 17 - 11:28 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is available for Wednesday against the Pelicans.

He has seen some playing time lately, but he played just three minutes on Monday. Muscala won't have much value while the Hawks are healthy up front.
Jan 17 - 6:19 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. Denver.

Muscala has been listed a probable in each of the Hawks last three games and has played in each contest. However, he has very minimal fantasy value, as he's averaging just 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 8.3 minutes over those three games.
Jan 9 - 6:33 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is probable to play Monday vs. the Clippers.

Muscala will likely be given the probable tag for the next month because that's just what Atlanta does. He's not worth owning anywhere.
Jan 8 - 3:43 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) finally returned to action on Friday vs. the Blazers, playing eight minutes with two rebounds.

Miles Plumlee and John Collins are still sharing the center minutes and Ersan Ilyasova appears to be locked in as the starting PF. Muscala is versatile enough to play both the four and five, but he'll have to leapfrog someone on the depth chart before he's relevant again.
Jan 6 - 1:17 AM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is available for Friday's game vs. Portland.

He was "available" last game, but he didn't play and hasn't seen the floor since Nov. 3. We'll let you know if he gets any run.
Jan 5 - 8:50 PM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is listed as probable for Friday's game vs. Portland.

Muscala was active for the Hawks loss at Phoenix on Wednesday but received a DNP-CD. If he enters the contest on Friday, it will be his first game action since November 3rd. The Hawks will limit his minutes initially as he works his way back into shape.
Jan 5 - 10:11 AM

Mike Muscala (ankle) is being listed as probable for Tuesday's game against the Suns.

Muscala hasn't played since Nov. 3, but he recently appeared in a few G-League games without issue, so he should be good to go on Tuesday night. He'll likely be eased back into things, but Miles Plumlee figures to lose some minutes with Muscala back in the rotation.
