The Mavericks have officially waived Pierre Jackson (hamstring).

It's a tough break for Jackson, who was just signed to a 10-day contract earlier in the week and was playing well before pulling his hamstring. The Mavs waived Jackson to open up a roster spot for Yogi Ferrell.

The Mavs will waive Pierre Jackson.

This is just awful luck for Jackson. He was turning the corner on Thursday, but he pulled his hammy after the strong first quarter. We'll still need an update on his injury, but another team besides the Mavs will have to be looking for a point. Hopefully, we get some more Pappy Jack this year.

Pierre Jackson suffered a left hamstring strain on Thursday and will not return.

He was on his way to a big game in his first NBA start, but then this happens. Jackson had a tough time limping off the court and we would be very surprised to see him return. With Deron Williams, Wes Matthews and J.J. Barea out, the Mavs are left with only Seth Curry and Devin Harris at the guard spots. We'll see Justin Anderson slide in at the two tonight, too.

Pierre Jackson suffered an apparent left hamstring injury in the second quarter on Thursday.

He made a pullup jumper and grabbed his upper left leg after that. Jackson limped around on the court for one possession, before the Mavs were able to get him out of the game. He was playing very well with nine quick points, so hopefully he'll be OK. If not, we should get some Devin Harris at the point.

Updating a previous item, Pierre Jackson is starting against the Thunder on Thursday.

Devin Harris is going to come off the bench, which makes sense because Harris is likely going to be limited in a back-to-back set. We'll see how Jackson does, but he looked good on Wednesday night. He's only worth a look in deep leagues.
Jan 26 - 8:01 PM

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was impressed by Pierre Jackson on Wednesday vs. the Knicks.

"Jackson did a solid job starting the second half,’’ Carlisle said. "When he started to attack the basket vertically instead of kind of horizontally, he made some game-changing plays.’’ Jackson started the second half of the game with Deron Williams (ankle) going down and finished with four points, three assists and three rebounds in 24 minutes. Williams has already been ruled out for Thursday's game vs. the Thunder and could miss additional time, and with J.J. Barea (calf) out for a while, Jackson is worth keeping an eye on in deeper leagues. Seth Curry is a must-start player in the meantime.
Jan 26 - 9:33 AM

Pierre Jackson took over as the Mavericks' starting PG once Deron Williams (ankle) went down on Wednesday, finishing with four points, three assists and three rebounds in 24 minutes.

Dallas is starved for backcourt depth with J.J. Barea (calf) also out of commission, and Williams isn't expected to travel for Thursday's game in OKC. Jackson could earn a start in an imposing matchup vs. Westbrook, and both he and Devin Harris are worth considering as temporary plays. Seth Curry also gains even more value as a go-to guard for the banged-up Mavs.
Jan 26 - 12:47 AM

The Mavs have signed Pierre Jackson to another 10-day contract.

Jackson hasn't done all that much since his arrival in Dallas, earning just 6.9 minutes a night to go with averages of 3.1 points, 1.7 dimes and not much else on 30.4 percent shooting. The Mavs will have to decide if they want to sign him for the remainder of the season after this second 10-day deal expires, but his fantasy value is negligible in Dallas.
Jan 25 - 11:44 AM

The Mavericks have signed Pierre Jackson to a 10-day deal.

Jackson was with the Mavs earlier this season and averaged 3.0 points and 1.8 assists in 7.0 minutes per game through four appearances, so it's good to see him getting another chance. He's expected to be active for Sunday's game vs. the Wolves, but won't have much fantasy value while the Dallas backcourt is healthy.
Jan 15 - 12:32 PM

The Mavericks are expected to sign Pierre Jackson to a 10-day deal as soon as Sunday.

The Mavs waived the PG after a four-game stint earlier in the season, but it's not a surprise that he's getting another chance because he's been lighting it up in the D-League. He won't have much fantasy value while the backcourt in Dallas is healthy.
Jan 15 - 9:56 AM

Mavs waive G Pierre Jackson.

Well, the Mavs gave him a shot and he did have a ridiculous +33.4 net rating, but the team cut him. He deserves another shot.
Jan 6 - 5:21 PM

Rick Carlisle liked what he saw from Pierre Jackson during his Dallas debut on Tuesday.

"I like his quickness, and I like his ability to score. He made a couple of good plays off pick-and-rolls, so I think he’s a guy that can help us a bit," Carlisle said while grading Jackson’s Dallas debut. "And look, it’s the first day I’ve ever really seen him play in person, but I like what I saw. I thought he went hard and did some good things." While this is all well and good, Jackson just isn't going to be getting enough minutes in Dallas to make a difference in most leagues while their backcourt is intact.

Pierre Jackson played 11 minutes and hit 2-of-5 shots and a 3-pointer for seven points and two assists in Tuesday's blowout 123-107 loss to the Rockets.

Jackson comes in with a lot of hype, but with Deron Williams and Devin Harris healthy, J.J. Barea recovering from an injury, and Seth Curry playing well, it is going to be tough for Pierre to do much damage in that lineup. However, we could see him being a boom-or-bust player over the last few weeks of the season, as it's clear Dallas will have nothing left to play for.

The Mavericks are signing D-League guard Pierre Jackson to a partially guaranteed two-year deal.

Jackson started this season playing overseas in Croatia before returning stateside to the D-League. Jackson was leading the D-League in scoring this season, at over 29 points per game. However, even with J.J. Barea (Achilles) likely out for a week or two, it will be tough for Jackson to find minutes in Dallas, as Deron Williams, Seth Curry, Devin Harris, and Wes Matthews are all currently healthy and playing relatively well. Dallas will likely have to cut Jonathan Gibson to carve out a roster spot for Jackson
