76ers waive G Pierre Jackson.
It's just bad luck for a guy who scored 58 points in a D-League game two seasons ago. He had an Achilles tear two summers ago and it was clear his groin injury this month hurt his chances to make the team. If you like cool sneakers on NBA courts, this is a sad day. Oct 26 - 3:33 PM

The Sixers have reportedly decided to waive Pierre Jackson.

Jackson just couldn't get healthy during the preseason, and when he finally got on the floor, the diminutive point guard didn't show enough to stick. The Sixers will pay him $750,000 to go home.

Pierre Jackson missed all seven shots from the field on Friday, adding three rebounds, three assists and one turnover.

He didn't help himself and sadly we might not be seeing Jackson's incredible shoe game this season. We'll find out tomorrow if he makes the team, which seems doubtful. In his defense, he wasn't 100 percent.
Oct 23 - 10:33 PM

Pierre Jackson (groin) will not have a minutes limit on Sunday and is expected to play a lot.

Jackson hasn't been good in the preseason, but it should be noted that he isn't 100 percent. Head coach Brett Brown seemed open to the idea of keeping several point guards on the roster for opening night due to the injuries to Tony Wroten and Kendall Marhsall, so Jackson still has a decent shot to make the team. T.J. McConnell has been playing well recently, so Jackson does need to step up in a big way.
Oct 18 - 12:02 PM

Pierre Jackson didn't have it on Friday, scoring just two points with one rebound, three assists and two turnovers.

He was on a minutes restriction tonight, but still couldn't get it going. Jackson hasn't hit his stride since returning from his Achilles injury in Las Vegas, so he might not make the team.
Oct 16 - 10:32 PM

Pierre Jackson (groin) is planning to play in Friday's preseason game against the Wizards.

This is good news for Jackson as he could be in danger of being left off the 15-man roster and needs a strong finish to the preseason. While Jackson could play his way into solid minutes with Isaiah Canaan managing to rack up zero assists on Monday, he's battling Canaan, Kendall Marshall (knee), Tony Wroten (knee), and T.J. McConell for minutes, so he's not much more than a deep-league flier at the moment.

Pierre Jackson (groin) was limited in practice on Wednesday.

He needs to get healthy because Jackson might wind up being left off the 15-man roster to start the season. After tearing it up in the D-League in 2013-14, Jackson hasn't had his game translate and it could be due to his Achilles tear from last summer.
Oct 14 - 5:58 PM

Pierre Jackson (groin) could play on Friday.

He had a disappointing Summer League and hopefully he can turn it around in the preseason. Jackson should make the team and he certainly has a chance for minutes with Kendall Marshall (knee) and Tony Wroten (knee) not fully recovered from their January ACL tears.
Oct 12 - 6:20 PM

Pierre Jackson (groin) is on track to return to the basketball court in 8-10 days.

Doctors confirmed that Jackson isn't dealing with anything more than a sore groin, and he has plenty of time to get healthy before the regular-season tips. That being said, he'll join a very crowded rotation in Philly featuring Kendall Marshall (knee), Tony Wroten (knee) and Isaiah Canaan, so it'll be tough for him to get into the rotation on a consistent basis. He's not worth a draft pick in standard leagues.
Oct 8 - 6:15 PM

Pierre Jackson will have a checkup visit with the surgeon who performed his Achilles surgery on Wednesday.

Jackson isn't expecting any bad news, and this is just standard procedure when recovering from a torn Achilles. He's claimed that the Achilles is fine, and we'll likely get verification of that after his visit.
Oct 7 - 11:38 AM

Pierre Jackson (groin) will not play in Tuesday's preseason game.

Jackson has been dealing with a groin injury for about a week or so, and although he scrimmaged on Saturday, the 76ers want to hold him out just a little bit longer. With Kendall Marshall (knee) and Tony Wroten (knee) still on the road to recovery, the sooner Jackson can get back on the floor and make an impression, the better.
Oct 5 - 1:29 PM

Pierre Jackson (groin) is scrimmaging on Saturday.

Jackson has been on the sidelines during practice this week, but it's a great sign that he is now able to scrimmage. The 76ers are expected to keep three point guards on the roster, so he will likely have to outplay Isaiah Canaan. However, Kendall Marshall (knee) and Tony Wroten (knee) still have uncertain return dates, so Jackson and Canaan could both potentially be in the rotation early on.
Oct 3 - 11:32 AM

Pierre Jackson (groin) is still unable to practice.

Jackson's groin injury is the same one that bothered him over the summer, but it doesn't sound like anything serious. While the 24-year-old has a shot to win the 76ers starting point guard job, he's battling with Kendall Marshall, Tony Wroten, and Isaiah Canaan and is best left undrafted in standard fantasy leagues for now.

The 76ers are expected to only keep three point guards to start the season.

This is a tricky situation with Tony Wroten (knee) and Kendall Marshall (knee) both recovering from January ACL tears. If both of those two are even close to a go, that would likely mean Pierre Jackson, Isaiah Canaan, Scottie Wilbekin and T.J. McConnell are fighting for one spot. While Pierre was wonderful in the D-League back in 2014, he wasn't quite the same player at Summer League. Canaan is probably the favorite right now.

Pierre Jackson could potentially spend some time in the D-League this season.

Tony Wroten, Kendall Marshall and Isaiah Canaan could all be ahead of Jackson on the depth chart, so his outlook is murky to say the least. Unless the 76ers roll with a lot of two-PG lineups, Jackson's minutes could be very limited. He does have a lot of potential, but owners in deeper leagues can simply monitor him for now.
