The Hornets and Steve Clifford have reportedly come to terms on a three-year extension.
The Hornets are 8-6 on the season, and Clifford owns a record of 84-94 through his first three years as the head coach in Charlotte. Clifford has done a great job integrating Nicolas Batum into the offense, and the new 4-out, 1-in offense in Charlotte has Kemba Walker hitting career-highs in points (18.4), three-pointers (1.6) and more importantly, field goal percentage (46.4). Clifford's new contract will keep him at the helm until the 2018-19 season. Nov 25 - 9:12 AM

General manager Rich Cho said team needs won't trump overall talent for the Hornets' upcoming No. 9 pick in the draft.

Well, it's pretty easy to see where the need is. For about two months, all the talk has been about 3-pointers and effective field goal percentage. Meanwhile, the Hornets were dead last in 3-point percentage last season and were one of the worst teams from deep in NBA history. If need is a factor, they'll likely be looking at guys like Devin Booker.

Rod Higgins has stepped down as the Hornets' president of basketball operations.

Rich Cho will remain the general manager and the front office shouldn't change too much. The Hornets are expected to make a splash in the offseason with some cap space and the ninth pick in the draft.

President of basketball operations Rod Higgins said the Hornets could be looking at a backup point guard, a backup wing and an extra big in the draft.

He's not exactly narrowing it down here. Ideally, Marcus Smart would fall to them, but chances are there may not be a point guard worthy of going ninth and they may have to go elsewhere. The Hornets benefited from the Cavs leaping into the top spot and own that ninth pick due to a trade involving Corey Maggette and Ben Gordon involving a top-eight protected pick. However, their 16th pick goes to the Bulls to complete the Tyrus Thomas trade.

Bobcats coach Steve Clifford was released from the hospital on Saturday, and he told Yahoo! Sports, "I'm feeling a lot better."

It's great news for Clifford, his family and the Bobcats organization. He's recovering after having chest pains which required stents, and it's unclear when he'll return to the sidelines. Assistant coach Patrick Ewing is filling in as head coach during Clifford's absence.

Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said his team needs to add a third point guard and another big man.

"You have to have a third point guard. If your team's not organized in this league, you have no chance to play well," Clifford said. "I think you have to have six bigs. If you don't have enough bodies up front and you go to Memphis and one of them has the flu, that means somebody [undersized] has to guard Zach Randolph."

Steve Clifford will add Warriors assistant Bob Beyer and Magic assistant Mark Price to his Bobcats staff.

Both Beyer and Price worked with Clifford when the latter was one of Stan Van Gundy's lead assistants in Orlando. Beyer spent one season on the Warriors' staff while Price has been Orlando's player development coach since 2011. Clifford already hired Patrick Ewing, who also was a part of SVG's staff in Orlando.
