The Magic are interviewing former Hornets coach Steve Clifford this week, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
The Magic continue to deny comment during their coaching search, but Tom Izzo is another name that has worked its way into the rumor mill. They haven't won more than 35 games or made the playoffs since the 2011-12 season, so you can't blame them for taking their time with this coaching search. May 24 - 11:11 AM

Steve Clifford will meet with the Bucks for their head coaching position.

Clifford is one of many candidates that includes Mike Budenholzer, Monty Williams, Becky Hammon, James Borrego, David Blatt and Ettore Messina. Budenholzer and Williams are believed to be the favorites, but Clifford is a defensive-minded coach and that's certainly something the Bucks could use.

The Bucks are expected to interview Steve Clifford for their head coach position.

Mike Budenholzer is likely the favorite, while the Bucks have also been linked to Monty Williams, David Fizdale and David Blatt. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said they could interview several more, so this process could take a while with Milwaukee casting a wide net.

Former Charlotte coach Steve Clifford met with the Suns on Friday for their coaching job.

Clifford is going to get a lot of interest after the Hornets let him go because of a change to their front office. Clifford has shown he can develop players, which should fit right in with what the Suns are looking for.

The Hornets announced on Friday that they relieved Steve Clifford of his head coaching duties.

Clifford was named Charlotte head coach in May of 2013. He finished with a regular-season record of 196-214 (.478 winning percentage). Clifford is the third head coach to be fired since the regular season ended on Wednesday. The Hornets' new President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Mitch Kupchak said the search for a new coach would begin immediately.

Coach Steve Clifford labeled the Hornets performance during their loss to the Nets on Thursday night as "totally unacceptable."

Brooklyn easily beat the Hornets 125-111 in Charlotte on Thursday. "We owe it to each other, to the organization, to [owner] Michael [Jordan], and to our fans that we don’t play like that," Clifford said after the game. Several veterans were also critical of the team's effort and execution. The Hornets will look to shake up their roster this offseason, but are hamstrung by a number of cumbersome contracts.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford has been cleared to return to work.

Clifford was on medical leave for more than a month due to severe headaches.
Jan 12 - 9:47 AM

Steve Clifford will be away from the team for the immediate future to address his health and he is currently without an official timetable for his return.

Associate head coach Stephen Silas will continue to serve as the interim head coach in Clifford's absence, and we sure hope all is well with Coach Clifford.

Steve Clifford (illness) will not coach Monday's game against the Magic.

Associate head coach Stephen Silas will assume head coaching duties in Clifford's absence, but we wouldn't expect that to result in dramatically different rotations.

The Hornets are finalizing a contract for Eddie Jordan to be an assistant coach.

Ranging from 1996-2010 with some time off in between, he was the head coach for the Kings, Wizards and 76ers, going 257-343 with those teams and getting to the playoffs four times. He also coached Rutgers University for three seasons before he was fired in 2016. Jordan replaces Bob Weiss after the Nuggets were able to pry him away.

The Hornets and Steve Clifford have reportedly come to terms on a three-year extension.

The Hornets are 8-6 on the season, and Clifford owns a record of 84-94 through his first three years as the head coach in Charlotte. Clifford has done a great job integrating Nicolas Batum into the offense, and the new 4-out, 1-in offense in Charlotte has Kemba Walker hitting career-highs in points (18.4), three-pointers (1.6) and more importantly, field goal percentage (46.4). Clifford's new contract will keep him at the helm until the 2018-19 season.

General manager Rich Cho said team needs won't trump overall talent for the Hornets' upcoming No. 9 pick in the draft.

Well, it's pretty easy to see where the need is. For about two months, all the talk has been about 3-pointers and effective field goal percentage. Meanwhile, the Hornets were dead last in 3-point percentage last season and were one of the worst teams from deep in NBA history. If need is a factor, they'll likely be looking at guys like Devin Booker.

Rod Higgins has stepped down as the Hornets' president of basketball operations.

Rich Cho will remain the general manager and the front office shouldn't change too much. The Hornets are expected to make a splash in the offseason with some cap space and the ninth pick in the draft.

President of basketball operations Rod Higgins said the Hornets could be looking at a backup point guard, a backup wing and an extra big in the draft.

He's not exactly narrowing it down here. Ideally, Marcus Smart would fall to them, but chances are there may not be a point guard worthy of going ninth and they may have to go elsewhere. The Hornets benefited from the Cavs leaping into the top spot and own that ninth pick due to a trade involving Corey Maggette and Ben Gordon involving a top-eight protected pick. However, their 16th pick goes to the Bulls to complete the Tyrus Thomas trade.

Bobcats coach Steve Clifford returned to practice on Sunday and he will coach the team during Monday's game.

Clifford was hospitalized after experiencing chest pain, and he's been told to reduce his workload, but it's terrific to see him back at work on the sidelines.
