Celtics PG Phil Pressey said that he welcomes increased competition from draft pick Marcus Smart.

Pressey went undrafted last year but Boston signed him to a multi-year deal as a free agent, and he stepped into a big role with Rajon Rondo recovering from ACL surgery. He even started 11 games, averaging 8.2 points, 1.3 threes, 7.2 assists and 1.5 steals, but his fantasy outlook is bleak with Rondo and Smart clogging up minutes at PG.
Jul 1 - 4:12 PM

Phil Pressey started in place of Rajon Rondo (rest) and hit 4-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for nine points, five rebounds, 13 assists and a steal.

Any time Rondo will miss, Pressey is worth a shot in most fantasy leagues. He's not a great scorer, but did a nice job for the Celtics tonight.
Apr 12 - 10:39 PM

Phil Pressey handed out a career-high 13 assists in a start in place of Rajon Rondo (shin) on Friday vs. the Bobcats, adding 10 points, three steals and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

It's the third time he's had a double-digit dime game and also his second double-double of his career. Pressey has actually shot the ball at a respectable level lately and he's turned around what was a horrible start to his career. Rondo's shin injury is a bit of a mystery as far as severity goes, so Pressey is more of a speculative add. Although, Pressey could be a nice start since Jerryd Bayless (knee) seems doubtful.
Apr 11 - 11:48 PM

Phil Pressey will start in place of Rajon Rondo (shin) on Friday vs. the Bobcats.

This injury came out of nowhere for Rondo and coach Brad Stevens may have just went with Pressey over Jerryd Bayless as the starter to not mess with his game plan in the rotation. Pressey is a low-end option despite a decent matchup against Luke Ridnour.
Apr 11 - 6:58 PM

Phil Pressey logged the first double-double of his career on Saturday vs. the Pistons, scoring 12 points wit two boards, 11 assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

It's only the second time since the All-Star break he was able to hit multiple 3-pointers in a game and this was one of his best outings yet. Pressey got the start for Rajon Rondo (rest) and Avery Bradley (Achilles) was also out, so he might not get another chance to start on Saturday Apr. 12 because coach Brad Stevens tends to go with Jerryd Bayless at the point sans Rondo.
Apr 5 - 10:15 PM

Phil Pressey is listed as a starter for the short-handed Celtics on Saturday, alongside Jerryd Bayless, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger.

Rajon Rondo (rest) and Avery Bradley (ankle/Achilles) are both sidelined, forcing coach Brad Stevens to mix up his lineups vs. the Pistons. Pressey has averaged 7.1 points, 1.3 threes, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals in seven starts this season.
Apr 5 - 5:46 PM

Phil Pressey scored nine points in 35 minutes during his seventh start of his career on Wednesday with nine boards, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

It wasn't the worst line and he might have been a little better than expected. Pressey shot 3-of-9 from the field and being undersized has really made him an ineffective offensive weapon. Rajon Rondo won't play playing in back-to-back sets any time soon, so fantasy owners in deep leagues can keep stats like these in mind for streaming purposes.
Mar 12 - 11:57 PM

Phil Pressey will start against the Knicks on Wednesday night.

With Rajon Rondo out tonight, the Celtics will go with Pressey for his seventh career start. In his previous six starts, he averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 boards, 4.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 triples in 24.2 minutes. He did have one tremendous game mixed in there to inflate those averages, so fantasy owners probably shouldn't have their hopes too high even in a great matchup.
Mar 12 - 5:57 PM

Phil Pressey is expected to start on Saturday night.

Rajon Rondo is getting his scheduled rest and the Celtics will have a severe drop off at the point guard spot. Pressey shot 30.6 percent from the field over his last 12, which is actually an improvement on his season total of 28.7 percent. He did have a nice game mixed in there in his previous start, but it's still very hard to get excited about using him in most formats. A struggling Jerryd Bayless will also see more minutes.
Feb 22 - 4:01 PM

Phil Pressey started for resting Rajon Rondo in Monday's win over the Bucks, scoring 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three treys, two boards, six assists and one steal in 24 minutes.

Owners that started him in daily leagues can feel good about the night but the feeling will be short-lived with Rondo expected back on Wednesday. The opponent should be noted here, too, whenever Pressey gets, um, pressed into action in the future.
Feb 10 - 11:14 PM

Phil Pressey and Gerald Wallace will start next to Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger against the Bucks on Monday.

Pressey is one of the worst offensive players in the NBA with his season shooting of 27.0 percent from the field and he's also at just 18.8 percent over his last five, which includes two starts. He could have a better game tonight, but he's not a reliable option. Jerryd Bayless will back him up and should have a nice chunk of minutes go his way. On the other hand, Gerald Wallace is a decent plug-and-play.
Feb 10 - 6:50 PM

Phil Pressey didn't have it in his third start of the season vs. the Sixers on Wednesday, making 1-of-7 from the field for two points with one board, two assists and two steals.

Michael Carter-Williams didn't give Pressey any room to operate and the size difference was too much for Pressey. He dropped his season field goal percentage to 27.3 percent from the field and might be the worst offensive guard in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics don't have another back-to-back until Feb. 9 and 10, so Pressey can be ignored in almost all leagues until then.
Jan 29 - 11:15 PM

Phil Pressey will start in place of Rajon Rondo on Wednesday.

Pressey was very impressive in his last game as the starter, making 7-of-10 from the field for 20 points in 35 minutes. However, he has cooled off in his last three games and shot just 29.4 percent from the field on that span. He's far from a sure thing tonight, but there should be some opportunity against a struggling Philly defense.
Jan 29 - 5:53 PM

Phil Pressey moved back to the bench on Friday during a 101-83 loss to the Thunder with nine points, two boards, six assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 30 minutes.

He's earned some minutes and even saw playing time next to Rajon Rondo tonight. With Rondo still likely looking at a minute restriction for a while, Pressey can hold some value in deeper leagues. He's not worth owning unless the Celtics are on a back-to-back and rest Rondo. They have a back-to-back coming up on Tuesday vs. the Knicks and Sixers on Wednesday.
