Solomon Hill earned another start on Sunday, posting nine points on 4-of-6 shooting, four rebounds, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 42 minutes vs. the Mavericks.
Dante Cunningham is out 4-6 weeks with a fractured fibula, so Hill should continue starting indefinitely. The eventual return of Tyreke Evans could cut into Hill's minutes, and regardless he's a low-ceiling fantasy player with a current usage rate of 10.8 percent. There are better free agents on most waiver wires. Nov 27 - 10:25 PM

Date:

Solomon Hill started on Friday vs. the Blazers, but scored five points with six rebounds, one steal, one block and one trey in 27 minutes.

He hit 2-of-4 shots from the field and wasn't very involved on offense as expected. With Tyreke Evans (knee) nearing a return, Hill is nothing more than a deep-league asset until further notice.
Nov 26 - 1:42 AM

Solomon Hill will start at small forward in place of Dante Cunningham (knee) on Friday vs. the Blazers.

He started the second half of Wednesday's game, so this move isn't a surprise. Cunningham is out for about 4-6 weeks, but Hill is just a flier in deeper leagues because he's more of a defender. He could also lose a lot of value when Tyreke Evans (knee) returns.
Nov 25 - 8:43 PM

Solomon Hill started the second half of Wednesday's game in place of Dante Cunningham (knee), finishing a win vs. the Wolves with two points and five rebounds in 18 minutes.

Hill was active defensively, chipping in two steals and one block, but he's a marginal fantasy player even if Cunningham (whose injury is considered minor) is forced to miss Friday's game.
Nov 24 - 1:22 AM

Solomon Hill started the second half of Wednesday's game ahead of Dante Cunningham, posting two points, three assists and one block in 20 minutes.

Alvin Gentry isn't afraid to change his lineups on the fly, depending upon matchups and who is playing well, so this is par for the course. This position battle is only worth monitoring in very deep leagues.
Nov 16 - 9:47 PM

Solomon Hill moved to the bench against the Bucks on Thursday, finishing with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 31 minutes.

It was his best game of the season and the move worked for the Pelicans in their first win. After the game, coach Alvin Gentry said the move to the bench was situational with Hill, so this move may not stick. Hill's fantasy value is going to be somewhat low as long as Anthony Davis is healthy.
Nov 10 - 11:35 PM

Solomon Hill hit just 2-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for five points, four boards and two steals in Saturday's loss to the Spurs.

We get a lot of questions about picking up Hill, but the five points were a season high and he's hit just 4-of-18 shots thus far. He belongs on waivers even though he's starting for the Pelicans.
Oct 30 - 12:33 AM

Solomon Hill logged 27 minutes as a starter on Wednesday, but had only two points, one rebound, one assist and one steal.

New Orleans gave Hill a four-year, $52 million contract this summer, so he's obviously a big part of their plans. He's a steady defender whose role is safe with Tyreke Evans (knee) on the shelf, but fantasy owners should view him skeptically unless his offense picks up significantly.
Oct 27 - 12:18 AM

Solomon Hill did a little bit of everything during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Rockets, tallying 12 points, seven boards, two assists, one triple, two steals, one block and one turnover in 27 minutes.

While Hill struggled with his shot (2-of-8 from the field), he still found a way to be effective by aggressively attacking the hoop and going 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Hill may be able to provide some low-end value in deep leagues operating as the Pelicans starting small forward sans Tyreke Evans (knee), but it seems unlikely that he’ll be able to make a difference in standard settings.
Oct 12 - 10:14 AM

Solomon Hill did not score against the Mavs on Saturday, adding one rebound, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes.

Coach Alvin Gentry wants him to play both forward spots, but he'll likely be counted on more for his defense. Hill only had a 13.2 usage rate last season with only three starts in 59 games, so he's not going to be a volume guy as the likely starter for opening night. Just keep an eye on him to see if he can get in a groove with his new team.
Oct 1 - 11:05 PM

General manager Dell Demps said Solomon Hill can slide over to play some power forward.

This isn't surprising to hear whatsoever after the Pelicans dropped a four-year, $52 million deal on him. Anthony Davis has been more successful as a center, so Hill turning in good minutes at the four would go a long way. The former Pacer is inconsistent, but a new uniform could help him become fantasy relevant.
Sep 23 - 2:39 PM

Solomon Hill said that he wants to expand his game on the offensive end as a member of the Pelicans.

''I want to expand my offensive game, but I'm clearly here to play and be our No. 1 defender,'' Hill said. ''I wanted to go somewhere that provided a place that I feel comfortable, a place that I can get better and allow me to grow." Hill will have the opportunity to start in New Orleans, and his averages of 12.1 points, 6.4 boards, 1.7 steals and 1.9 triples in 29.1 minutes through seven games in April are certainly intriguing. He's on the radar as a potential late-round flier in deep leagues.
Jul 26 - 6:19 PM

Solomon Hill said the opportunity to start in New Orleans was a "huge" factor in his decision to sign.

Hill also said that he's comfortable playing the three and four and that he's looking forward to the up-tempo offense. Tyreke Evans (knee) likely won't be ready for the start of the season, so Hill will compete with Quincy Pondexter for the starting small forward role on opening night. Regardless, Hill is nothing more than a late-round flier and didn't really make any noise last season until the playoffs.
Jul 26 - 12:26 PM

Pelicans sign F Solomon Hill.

Hill had already agreed to a deal with the Pelicans and has now officially signed his four-year, $52 million deal. Hill has some upside at just 25 years old, but he's been too inconsistent to be anything more than a late-round flier in 2016-17 fantasy drafts.
Jul 21 - 12:08 PM

The Pelicans have a verbal agreement on a four-year, $52 million deal with unrestricted free agent Solomon Hill.

He saw a big uptick in minutes during the postseason and he still has some room to grow at age 25. Hill is wildly inconsistent, he was out of the rotation earlier in the year, and he's just a career 40.9 percent shooter from the field. The Pelicans likely knew they couldn't get an expensive small forward, so they'll give Hill a chance. He could find himself getting minutes next season.
