Raul Neto showed some flashes of potential during his first preseason game with the Jazz on Sunday, handing out six assists to go with four steals, two turnovers and a block through 20 minutes of action.
While Neto shot just 0-of-3 from the field, he looked great setting up Utah's offense, and he was very pesky on defense. Rumors out of Utah indicate that Neto is currently the favorite to win the starting point guard position, and tonight was certainly a step in the right direction as he really outplayed Trey Burke. We'll be watching this position battle closely leading up to the regular-season, but Neto has put himself on the radar as a late-round flier in deep leagues. Oct 5 - 1:19 AM

Gordon Hayward said that Raul Neto did a great job "running the show" during Utah's practice on Thursday.

Neto is currently fighting for the starting point guard position in Utah with the likes of Trey Burke and Bryce Cotton, although reports up to this point have Neto the favorite to come out on top. It only helps that one of Utah's franchise players is praising his play, and it'll be interesting to watch coach Quin Snyder's rotations develop over the course of the preseason. Neto doesn't really have a jump shot, so he could struggle with efficiency, but he's certainly on the radar in deep leagues as a guy that could buoy the assist category.
Oct 1 - 6:24 PM

The Jazz plan to let Raul Neto, Trey Burke and Bryce Cotton battle for the starting PG job during training camp and the preseason.

If there isn't a clear winner among that group, or if the starting unit is lagging, Utah could "take another course" by signing or trading for a veteran PG. Neto has international experience and he's the best passer and defender of the trio, making him an interesting player to monitor over the next six weeks.

Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey praised Raul Neto's defensive abilities.

"[Raul] plays with great energy," he said. "Even though he’s a little undersized, he’s an excellent defender already. Very good lateral movement. He plays with great imagination. He’s a pass-first guy." Neto will need to improve his shooting, but there is an opportunity to carve out a real role in Utah.
Jul 27 - 8:28 AM

Raul Neto could spend some time in the D-League next season.

Neto recently signed a multi-year deal with the Jazz, but he will be competing with Dante Exum and Trey Burke for minutes. If he isn't able to carve out a role in Utah, he could gain some valuable experience in the D-League. We will be watching him closely in the preseason, but Neto isn't on the fantasy radar.
Jul 17 - 10:31 AM

The Jazz have officially signed G Raul Neto to a multi-year contract.

Neto will help backup Trey Burke and Dante Exum in Utah, but he's going to have a tough time getting enough minutes to matter in most leagues.
Jul 9 - 9:35 PM

Raul Neto arrived in Utah on Saturday to discuss his future with the Jazz.

The Jazz have had their eyes on Neto for a while now, and it looks like we could see him on the Jazz roster for the 2015-16 season. However, with Trey Burke and Dante Exum competing for minutes at point guard, Neto would have a difficult time cracking the rotation in Utah.
Jul 4 - 1:37 PM

Raul Neto could join the Jazz as early as next season.

Utah acquired him during the 2013 draft, and it now finally sounds like there's a realistic possibility that he'll come over for the 2015-16 season.
Jun 29 - 2:17 PM

Raul Neto scored 21 points on 9-of-10 from the field vs. Argentina during Brazil's win on Sunday.

He added two assists, one rebound and one steal in 25 minutes. Neto signed with Club Baloncesto UCAM this summer, which is too bad for the Jazz because he may be the best point guard under their control right now. Dante Exum is a major project while Trey Burke struggled mightily in his rookie season.

Raul Neto officially signed with Club Baloncesto UCAM.

The Jazz acquired him in the 2013 draft and he did join their summer league team in 2013, but he'll play in Spain for the second consecutive season. Neto is expected to join the Brazilian team this month for the FIBA World Cup.

Jazz 2013 pick Raul Neto will not participate in this year's Summer League, instead he will go back to Brazil and compete for his national team.

Sources say that Jazz management is still deciding on whether to bring over the Brazilian point guard, or let him spend another year overseas developing. Neto has averaged 9.8 points, and 3.3 assists on 43.8 percent shooting during his time in the EuroLeague, so he certainly could use some more time developing his game. Whether he comes over or not, he will be playing behind Dante Exum and Trey Burke, a situation that doesn't offer much upside from a fantasy perspective.

Jazz 2013 draft pick Raul Neto broke his right index finger and will miss 2-3 weeks.

Neto was drafted 47th overall last year by the Jazz but spent last year playing in Spain. The 21-year-old Brazilian averaged over nine points per game in the ACB last season. He could make the jump to the NBA next season where he'd likely be fighting for minutes with guys like John Lucas III and Diante Garrett. Fantasy owners can safely ignore him on draft day.

Raul Neto will play in Spain for this upcoming season.

The Jazz took him with the 47th pick after Neto averaged 8.5 points and 2.9 assists for Lagun Arco GBC in the Spanish League. Neto could wind up with the Jazz next year and could get minutes with the team currently lacking elite point guard depth.

Updating a previous report, Jazz draft pick Raul Neto is in Orlando awaiting FIBA clearance to participate in Summer League.

It was previously reported that Neto would not play in Summer League, though his presence doesn't mean that he'll join the Jazz for the 2013-14 season. Though subject to change, the Brazilian PG expected to remain under contract in Spain for at least one more year.
Sun, Jul 7, 2013 12:54:00 AM

Jazz draft pick Raul Neto is expected to remain in Spain for at least one more season.

This has been the expectation ever since the Mavs took Neto at No. 47 overall, and he will not join the Mavericks' Summer League team. It's possible that he'll make the jump to the NBA in 2014.
