Joffrey Lauvergne is making good progress with his back injury, but he will remain sidelined for Tuesday's game against the Clippers.
Lauvergne has begun running, and he's expected to do more during Wednesday's practice. If he's able to go through change of direction drills and take contact during Wednesday's practice without any setback, he should be back on the court "soon," which will take away some value from Nikola Jokic. For what it's worth, Lauvergne said he was feeling "really good" on Tuesday, so it sounds like there's a decent chance he returns for either Friday's game against the Spurs or Saturday's game vs. the Mavs. Nov 24 - 3:10 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will not play against the Warriors on Sunday.

He is getting closer to a return and even tweeted that he should return at some point this week. With Lauvergne out, Nikola Jokic should get another chance to redeem himself for turning in one of the worst defensive performances of Friday night. The good news is the Nuggets should cut the rookie some slack since his mistakes are easy to correct.
Nov 21 - 3:20 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) tweeted out that he anticipates being able to return sometime this week.

Lauvergne added that he has cleared all his medical exams, and there is nothing seriously wrong with his back. Lauvergne has already been ruled out for Friday's game, so his next opportunity to play will come Sunday vs. the Warriors. Players tend to be overly optimistic when discussing their timelines, so we'll consider Lauvergne questionable for that one.
Nov 20 - 7:20 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Suns.

Friday will mark Lauvergne's tenth consecutive game on the sidelines, and he remains without a clear timetable to return. Joffrey doesn't offer very much upside at all, so he can be cut in just about all leagues. Nikola Jokic earned a season-high 32 minutes during Wednesday's game and busted loose for 23 points and 12 rebounds, so he's worth a speculative add in standard leagues. J.J. Hickson will also benefit sans Joffrey.
Nov 19 - 4:06 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.

He might be able to play Friday vs. Phoenix, but there's not enough value here to warrant a stash in most leagues. J.J. Hickson and Nikola Jokic will continue to split his minutes.
Nov 18 - 6:32 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) is doubtful to play in Wednesday's game against the Spurs.

There's a chance Lauvergne makes it back to the court for Friday's matchup with the Suns, but it sounds like there's very little chance he plays on Wednesday. J.J. Hickson and Nikola Jokic will help pickup the slack with Lauvergne sidelined, but until Joffrey is actually back on the court, he belongs on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Nov 17 - 2:34 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) has already been ruled out of Tuesday's game vs. New Orleans.

The big man was tentatively targeting a return vs. the Pelicans, so this has to be viewed as discouraging news. The back has been a problem since the preseason, and we haven't seen him on the floor in two weeks. There is no reason to stash him in 12-team formats at this point. Nikola Jokic and J.J. Hickson will put in extra work until Jusuf Nurkic (knee surgery) returns.

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will not play on Saturday vs. the Suns.

Lauvergne was able to run some today and said that he is feeling a lot better, and the good news is that he is targeting a return for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans. J.J. Hickson will likely get another start at center tonight while Nikola Jokic and Darrell Arthur will help out off the bench.
Nov 14 - 8:09 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) has been upgraded to questionable for Saturday's game against the Suns.

Lauvergne hasn't played since Nov. 1 because of a stubborn back issue, but it's possible that he could slide back into the starting lineup if he can give it a go tonight. Still, Lauvergne is only worth a look in deeper leagues and his minutes could be monitored. If he does play, Nikola Jokic and J.J. Hickson will lose some value.
Nov 14 - 1:18 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will not play against the Rockets on Friday.

J.J. Hickson has played very well in the starting role, averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 boards in his last two games. Nikola Jokic has also played well and could be worth a look in deeper leagues. They'll have their hands full against Dwight Howard.
Nov 13 - 2:41 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Bucks.

Wednesday's missed game will mark Joffrey's fifth consecutive game on the sidelines, and it'll likely be J.J. Hickson drawing the start in his absence. Hickson's been pretty hit-or-miss as a starter, and with a tough matchup against the Bucks, he'll make for a risky play in DFS. Lauvergne is still a few days away from making a return, so we'll consider him doubtful for Friday's matchup with the Rockets, although there’s a chance he returns to the floor on Saturday vs. the Suns.
Nov 10 - 4:45 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will miss his fourth consecutive game on Monday against the Blazers.

There is no official timetable for the big man to return, and it's a concern that dates back to the preseason. Lauvergne was able to get in a limited practice on Sunday, so while there has been progress, he's just not yet ready to go. On Friday, the Nuggets went small with Will Barton in the starting lineup, shifting Kenneth Faried to center. That's the plan they should stick with against Portland.
Nov 9 - 1:56 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) was limited during Sunday's practice, and he remains questionable for Monday's game vs. the Trail Blazers.

J.J. Hickson will have the opportunity to start on Monday should Lauvergne remain on the sidelines, or the Nuggets could elect to go with a small ball lineup featuring a frontcourt pairing of Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari. Lauvergne's complete lack of defensive statistics limits his upside, and with Jusuf Nurkic (knee) likely to be the starting center for Nuggets upon being cleared to play, Lauvergne is a pretty unattractive guy to stash in standard formats.

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will not play against the Warriors on Friday.

That means there should be another start for J.J. Hickson while Nikola Jokic backs him up. Lauvergne should be back next week, but isn't worth owning in most leagues right now.
Nov 6 - 2:25 PM

Joffrey Lauvergne (back) will not suit up for Thursday's game vs. the Jazz.

Lauvergne's back is still giving him issues, so we'll be considering him on the doubtful side of questionable for Friday's game against the Warriors. With Lauvergne unavailable and Nikola Jokic (back) questionable, Kenneth Faried could again be asked to log heavy minutes for the Nuggets, with J.J. Hickson seeing some extended minutes off the bench. Faried offers the most upside, but with a tough matchup against Utah's imposing frontcourt, he'll make for a slightly risky play in DFS.
