Celtics release C Vitor Faverani.
It's seems like just yesterday when he exploded in the second game of his career last season, scoring 12 points with 18 boards and six blocks. Too many knee issues, an inability to learn offense and adapting to the concept of team defense hurt him here. Faverani might get picked up at some point. Dec 18 - 8:11 PM

Date:

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said Vitor Faverani (knee) could start practicing in early to mid-January.

This is a good news as Faverani had previously been without a timetable following two knee surgeries, but he won't be a fantasy factor upon his return so he can be safely left off watch lists.

Dec 16 - 9:58 AM

Vitor Faverani (knee) remains without a timetable to return.

"He is getting a little bit better, which is good, and is increasing his workload, but not on the court yet," Brad Stevens said. "Nothing that would lead to having a timeline for a return." Faverani is looking at a lost season after two knee surgeries.
Dec 15 - 10:57 AM

There is still no timetable for the return of Vitor Faverani (knee).

He was seen getting up some shots on Saturday, but it doesn't seem like he will be returning to practice anytime soon according to coach Brad Stevens. This news confirms that Faverani can be left on the waiver wire in almost all leagues.

Dec 7 - 10:04 AM

Brad Stevens has no idea when Vitor Faverani (knee) might return.

Faverani has missed the last nine months and counting. His most recent knee surgery was supposed to sideline him six-to-eight weeks, but he hasn't returned to practice. Boston won't rush him back into action and it wouldn't be surprising if he can't debut until after 2015 begins. He's not relevant in fantasy leagues.
Nov 24 - 9:38 AM

Celtics' head coach Brad Stevens said that Vitor Faverani (knee) may be back by the beginning of January, but would not commit to an official date.

Faverani's return date remains a mystery, but once is able to finally suit up he'll likely be eased back into the rotation. He's currently buried on the depth chart behind Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, Brandon Bass, and Tyler Zeller, and given his limited upside and uncertain return date, he’s not worth owning in almost any league.
Nov 23 - 4:49 PM

Vitor Faverani (knee surgery) still has no timetable for his return.

He hasn't played basketball since tearing his meniscus in February, so even medical clearance to play will be followed by a lengthy training process. "This is my first injury," Faverani said. "I’m just happy because we have great doctors, great therapy guys ... All I can do is recover. We’ll just wait on my knee."
Nov 23 - 11:40 AM

Vitor Faverani (knee) has only been doing work on a bike and in the pool.

He did say he's 100 percent, but actions speak louder than words... or something. Faverani is not close to returning and he could wind up in the D-League anyway.
Nov 22 - 4:38 PM

Vitor Faverani is listed as out for Wednesday's game.

He is out indefinitely and there has been no indication as to when we will see him again. When he does return, he will likely ride the pine and will have almost no fantasy value this season. Feel confident in leaving him on the waiver wire.
Nov 19 - 9:54 AM

Brad Stevens said he has "zero idea" when Vitor Faverani (knee) might return.

We're marking him out indefinitely at this point until there is a positive update. "No increased activity," Stevens said. "I don't know. They have not given him any specific timeline." Now rehabbing from a second knee surgery after the firs caused lingering pain and swelling, Faverani is looking at a lost season.

Nov 17 - 9:11 AM

Vitor Faverani (knee) is out as expected for Wednesday's game.

He continues to remain sidelined as he tries to recover from knee surgery and there is still no concrete timetable on his return, though it's possible he could be back by the end of November. Nov 12 - 11:19 AM

Vitor Faverani (flu) returned to the Celtics team facility on Monday.

Nov 10 - 12:56 PM

Vitor Faverani (left knee surgery) has rejoined the Celtics but he's not healthy enough to play.

He was given a 6-8 week timetable after having surgery on Oct. 13, so he's unlikely to set foot on the court until late November at the earliest. Kelly Olynyk has locked up the starting C job ahead of Tyler Zeller, and there's not enough playing time available for Faverani to make a dent in fantasy leagues.
Nov 5 - 6:00 PM

Vitor Faverani (knee) could be cleared for practice in late November or early December.

It sounds like the team isn't going to waive him, but it's possible they still do so. Faverani has no fantasy value.
Oct 22 - 7:26 PM

Vitor Faverani had left knee surgery on Monday and will miss the next 6-8 weeks.

He had the procedure to clean up inflammation and evaluate his meniscus. Faverani has dealt with a litany of knee injuries in his two seasons, so he might have a tough time making the roster this year. Fantasy owners can ignore him for now.
